The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ Rp: Evening Star Parade

Posted by: Loranna Dec 11 2004, 04:12 AM

Hi everyone,

We continue the storyarc of Azura's quest to return to Oblivion in this installment of Loranna's Merry Adventures, Evening Star Parade.

Currently, the RP is set in Gnisis, Morrowind; everyone is gathered or on their way, and Loranna has just had a strange dream - and will discover that she is already well on her way to completing her Lady's quest.

The mirc channel #Loranna_RP remains our official hang out for out of character discussion and organization.

This time around, I ask people to try adopting a more relaxed, slower posting style; we've had a few complaints about the speed in which we were posting before. As the RP progresses, I will attempt to structure things to accomodate a slower style.

Please start off with a brief summary of your current situation before jumping into the action smile.gif

As always, have fun!

Loranna

Reichi rubbed his nose. "Why you little!Wait...where'd you go!?" he yelled looking about for the ghost. "Bah! Fetcher." he murmered then sat back down. "Pah, i aint finding muffins. he punched me."

Posted by: Solin Dec 11 2004, 04:20 AM

Solin, a dunmeri sorcerer, is about to travel with Arynel and Allerleirauh from the guild house in Daggerfall. As before, his mind is a bit frayed by his recent experiences. His mind is ever called back to the city, he even dreams of it now, or something similar anyways.

Liris, a Breton Lord, has been revealed to be a power hungry chap who happens to enjoy the "finer things." Recently over dinner with Aricyn and Loranna he discussed plans for the future and even consented to giving Loranna a degree of freedom.

Ciel, a Breton knight, didn't expect to see him again but he showed up regardless! He's currently heading into Colovia.

Arynel is traveling with Allie and Solin towards Gnisis. Arynel is a Breton, and a traveler.

Gnisis, the Tradehouse:

Allerleirauh entered Loranna's room from the Void, having first looked around the town to see what was transpiring elsewhere.

Loranna was asleep... or was she?

She looked, in some ways, better than she had the last time Allerleirauh had seen her. The lines on the sides of her mouth that appeared when she was anxious were relaxed; the tear-like marks on her face sparkled, but no longer seemed like gashes in her face. Or perhaps it was the light.

"Loranna," Allerleirauh said quietly, "It's me. Don't be startled."

Which was silly, really; for Loranna could hear thoughts. She was hard to startle.

*Amidst the scuttling of crowds and the bustling of peasants a figure slipped through the nooks and crannies left between citizens who were not content on knocking one another over. The figure was genderless for the momment, features and race hidden beneath a heavy grey guar hide cloak. The figure moved with a heavy step and lacked grace of any sort, its cloak dragged on the dusty streets and its heavy boot clad feet rose up clouds of irritating ash wherever they stomped. Slowly the figure made its way towards Madach's Tradehouse, its shadowed over face peering hopefully upward at the site of its apparent destination* "Beautfiful puppets....beautiful stage, so nice it shall be to pull the strings on our lady!" *The figure approached the entry steps to the tradehouse, thrusting the doors open with no recognition of manners or fashionable entrances. The figure, now identified as a Imperial male, pulled up a chair to the bar, heavily plopping its brawny body down with a dusty arousing thud*

Arynel stepped out of the void.

The Breton walked into Madach's tradehouse, and took a seat in the corner,

Nalion is now standing near Reichi in the Madach Tradehouse. The appearance of the ghost has startled him. Still, the dagger of senses he had just drawn from his belt, points at the scarcely visible nebula in front of him.
Backing away from the strange couple conversing with each other, he eyed them warily. But somehow, this ghost seems familiar to the Breton mage. He decides to take no immediate action.

*Erenius had been in Darius' room for quite some time, and by now, he had turned his room into his new office, relegating Darius, should he return soon, to Erenius' old post, an empty stone room by teh Imperial Cult shrine inside the fort*

"Darius should be out of the way for a time..." Erenius mutters as he tries to sleep when someone storms into the room, sword drawn.

"You!" he shouts as he walks toward Erenius.

"What is it?" Erenius says, quickly drawing his own blade, an ebony one that he had traded for his mount and his old steel one. "Come closer, and whomever you are, you shall perish."

"It be Darius, and I am here because of your treachery..." Darius says, clad in his Templar armour, his imperial broadsword poised to strike.

"That blade is but a nuisance in my plans, Darius...and should you be a pain for much longer, you shall find yourself slain," Erenius threatens as he readies his blade.

"You do know that despite your rank, soon as you leave the fort and relinquish your duties, any of your orders are automatically mine?" Darius says. "Thus, any good work you planned on doing, it of my credit. I love the recruits, but I hate superiors..."

"Always been that way, even before this, huh?" Erenius mutters as he points to Darius' log. "Read the thing while you were gone...and apparently, there are some things that, unless you wish slander upon yoruself, you stop immediately. Best not make a fuss of this."

"Your right," Darius says as a smirk comes across his face. "And whatever you do will be of my credit, without any of my work..."

"If you say so...and you'll take all the credit for one order I shall give just prior to my leave, with orders that it not be overturned," Erenius says in response, smirking as well.

*Darius turns about and leaves, obviously loosing whatever taste for blood he may originally have had*

"Too simple," Erenius mutters as he sheathes his blade and lays it on the nightstand by his bed as he tries to fall asleep.

The stranger peered up through the shadow of his thick hood, revealing his face. The old Imperial was quite queer in appearance, his face was broad and dusty and two round, unblinking, feline eyes gave his old, heavy face an unnatural appearance* "No." *The stranger blurted. The bartender swayed a bit, taken back by the abruptness of this man's arrogant answer. Then, looking over the bartender, added* "You are quite the beautiful specimen....puppet." *The bartender ignored this comment, half out of fear and half out of anger, rushing away to whatever bussines required attending to elsewhere*

He noticed Illidan had fallen asleep on the bar "wake up!" He called out throwing a bit of bread roll at his brother.

The roll connected and plonked him on the head, causing him to sudenly wake up "W-what's happening?" he asked, his eyes still partly closed due to tiredness "That's a very good question Illidan" He began "Looks like things are finally starting to happen" Dante grabbed some flin and sat down at the nearest table. Elysana, the Queen of Wayrest, sits in her audience chamber, talking to Naphiticles, one of her sages, who has told her about the Void Rangers, and promised her a meeting with one. She is not a patient woman, waiting, but other things have kept her busy.

She is going over plans for her new palace in Wayrest, which will take years to construct. She is also awaiting word of the (unbeknownst to her unsuccessful) attempt to capture Lord Ciel in Hammerfell. And she has received a visitation from Meridia, one of the two Daedra Princes she has made deals with. Meridia is concerened over Loranna’s abundant freedom, something that Elysana assured the Prince that Loranna would not have. She has assuaged the anger of Meridia, saying that Liris is loyal and when he receives the latest letter, he will know his orders. If Liris isn’t loyal, there will be great trouble.

“This Void Ranger you know,” Elysana said, smiling at Naphiticles in a way he knew registered her displeasure, as she poured herself a glass of wine. “Where is he?”

“She, actually, Your Majesty,” said the sage. “She is coming. She will be here soon.”

“What is her name?”

“Bosriel,” said Naphiticles.

“That name sounds familiar,” said Elysana thoughtfully, and then returned to her plans. “Well, show her in when she arrives.”

“That won’t be necessary,” said the sage. “She’s here.”

Elysana looked up, but she and Naphiticles were still alone in the chamber. Before she could speak, she felt the gentle touch of a small hand on her back. The Queen spun around, knocking over her wine glass. Still, there was no one there.

“Where is she?” Elysana demanded. “Is she invisible?”

Naphiticles shook his head, and pointed to the spilled wine. The liquid shivered and pooled into the words “BEHIND THE WALLS.”

"I brought you a present,"  she said. "Or rather, I brought a present for the child."

She handed Loranna a folded cloth;  within was a baby's cap, stiff with embroidered symbols.

"This is traditional Velothi work;  I found an Ashlander to teach me. The cap is supposed to keep the child's soul from fleeing the Mundus during the first rude shock of its imprisonment in a body. The woman who taught me thought I was mocking her, making such a thing when there are no children in Vvardenfell. I let her think what she liked."

*

"Among other things, all at once," Loranna says quietly, turning the cap over with a happy expression on her face. "I've dreamed of it before a few times, but never quite like this; I never realized his voice was so ... well, you know."

Loranna blinks, as though having a sudden revelation, and touches her womb. " ... Sen-Yedda ... that shalt be its name ... you know, that last voice did sound kind of like his ..."

" ... Allie, before we go any further - everyone's okay, right? From our trip through Skyrim," Loranna asks, as though remembering something belatedly. "Arynel too, right?"

Hearing the rumble one floor below and the repeated mentioning of "Hircine", Nalion decides to have a look downstairs.

Passing Arynel, he gives him a recognizing wink and nods curtly with a small smile on his lips.
"I should have guessed that you would show up, Arynel." Nalion says to Arynel. "Give me a moment, I'm checking something."
Slowly walking down the steps to the rooms below, with arms folded in front of his chest, he gazes at the scenery.
It seemed chaotic, and most of all, crowded.
But seeing that there were no weapons drawn nor any gestures of magic incantation made, Nalion lets go of the slight tension that had grown stronger as he headed down the stairs.

He couldn't follow any particular conversation and thus headed back to the relative quiet upper floor where he left his drink.

QUOTE(Teleran @ Dec 10 2004, 10:41 PM)

Looking at Tarik's readied weapon and the armored Khajiit with the crossbow, Teleran decides that it would perhaps be better to be more subtle in his approach from now on.

All the same the glint of silver can be seen as daggers appear in his hands.

"Forgive me, but it is rare to see your kind on Vvardenfell, I assure you I meant no harm," teleran says, "What were you planning to do with this scroll?"

OOC: Teleran didn't see the ghost earlier.

Reichi gulped. "No need for the Daggers man. One, it aint night....er...is it? These damn windows are nigh-impoissible to se out of. Two if it was i have dis." Reichi held up his hand. A silver ring with a carved wolf's head was on his finger. Standing in Stark Contrast with his Dark Brotherhood armor.

Arynel begins running his finger over the grain of the wooden table before him.

(Aricyn: Early in their trek across Skyrim, Loranna's party was driven by a distinctly unnatural blizzard to the doorstep of Aricyn's hall. This arrogant, mysterious Nord has traveled with them ever since, becoming a sort of personal bodyguard and advisor to Loranna. It is incorrect to call him her lieutenant, however, since the man seems to follow his own plans as much, or more, than hers. He is set on seeing Morrowind united under Loranna/Azura, and the destruction of half of Skyrim was not too great a price to pay for him to set his plans in motion. Having arranged for Loranna's recent freedom, he goes now to set the next part of his plan in motion...)

Aricyn was awake early. Not because of the roaring snores of his new roommates, his own snores drowned those out, but because he had business. Business at the local temple, first stop on their great pilgrimage, where the Ash Mask of Vivec was enshrined.

He would talk to the priests, and insure that Loranna's guided tour, welcomed or not, would occur with ample fanfair.

"Arynel is as well as Arynel ever is. Solin is less well; though not through any fault of yours. And Master B, the Psijiic, is in mortal peril. Don't trouble yourself over these matters.

"Sen-Yedda," Allerleirauh said, feeling the sound of the name on her tongue. Like an invocation; but she had no idea what was being invoked. "I heard that name spoken in the Provisional House. It is not Vehk who has spoken, but one whose presence is such that Vehk is a mere instance of him. You have heard the voice of the Void Ghost, in your higher spirit, and your higher spirit sends you these dreams."

She stood up, and began setting the room to rights, automatically. It was not particularly untidy; but neither had the people of Gnisis made it pleasant or well-cared for, before admitting their guest.

Jahal quickly zoomed across the bar, looking for Jaim. When he spots him, he yells. "JAIM!!! Its Jahal! I have to tell you something! I know who your parents were, I know what happened to them, I know why you were abandoned. Your parents loved you very much, they were full blooded nord's, just like you. Then, while you and them were coming here, a berserk Orc attacked. Your mother died first, falling to the axe of the Orc. Your father pulled out his axe, which he had named Icecleaver, and cleaved the Orc. With the Orc's last breath, it muttered a spell of Summon Daedroth. The Daedroth killed your father. I was travelling, doing Morag Tong work, when I stumbled upon the Daedroth beheading your father, and about to kill you. I killed it where it stood, and took you in. I never told you that before Jaim, because I knew you would be too overwhelmed. I took Icecleaver and hid it. It is now in a vault, hidden under the Temple. It is accessable only by people that know the word. The word is 'Kaelin', because that was your father's name. I have to go my friend, and son. Good Bye." With that, the spirit disappeared.

“Show yourself,” said Elysana calmly. “I wish to speak, not witness your tricks.”

“She cannot,” said Naphiticles. “She cannot live outside of the Void.”

“Is she … human?” asked Elysana.

The wine bubbled and ran to form the words. “DUNMER.”

“She can move small things with great precision in our world to communicate with us,” said the sage. “As you can see.”

A thought horrified Elysana, though she did not let it show on her face. It was the feeling of the small hand. “She is a little girl. A child?”

“Yes and no,” said Naphiticles. “She is thousands of years old, but she entered the Void as a child, and never aged. Some call her a Void Vampire.”

“A vampire?” said Elysana, trying to repress a shiver. “How does she get blood?”

The wine told no answer.

“I wouldn’t advise standing too close to a stairwell or where walls meet when she is around,” said Naphiticles. “She is voracious. And Arkay protect any Rangers she meets in the Void … or not …”

“You will swear loyalty to me?” asked Elysana.

“YES.”

“What do you want in return?”

“FREEDOM.”

Naphiticles explained to the Queen what Bosriel, the Void Vampire, needed. It would not be easy, and it would not be cheap. But Elysana knew value when she saw it.

“You cannot be everywhere at every time to report to me,” said Elysana. “I will need other eyes. Do you know someone else whose loyalty I can buy?”

The wine formed the word: “LESETH.”

Loranna drinks from the water pitcher, letting Allie's words swirl around in her mind as she swills the local water.

"My plans ... right now, my own specifically are a bit passive," she tells Allie. "Aricyn and I have arranged for Ciel's replacement to keep me under token guard and arrange a pilgramage, to demonstrate Azura's mercy and closeness to her chosen people. With two Tribunal shrines right here, we can get a healthy leg up on that in short order."

She frowns. " ... None of us particularly want disasters this time around, as you can guess; it would be bad for the image Aricyn's working so hard to ensure ..."

The look in Loranna's eye suggests that she, herself, is less concerned with image than actual lives.

"As for myself, I'm going to try and ... well, keep myself in good shape for Sen-Yedda's health, and actually pay more attention to everyone this time; if people won't behave and keep from breaking things than I'll whisper a word in Aricyn's ear to have them find fortune elsewhere. And also, if I can, try to offer true help while drumming up worship for Azura; I'm committed to helping her get back to Moonshadow but ..."

Loranna shrugs, looking a little non-plussed. " ... Let's just say I've come to feel the Daedra are better loved in ways other than how I chose to embrace. Dusk and Dawn are both still beautiful to my eyes but I'm willing to just lie back and enjoy their beauty rather than try to pull them down to earth."

Jaim sat, his jaw had dropped already, few small tears running in rivulets down his face, creased with lines of sadness. He got up and paid for the Greef and silently walked out of the Tradehouse. He then walked into the Temple. He went to the chamber that held the Ash Mask of Vehk, a relic his father had always wanted to see. He then remembered all of the hints from Jahal that Jaim had never noticed before. He walked up to the Ash Mask and muttered "Kaelin". A small door opened behind the Mask. He walked past the Ordinators and into the hidden vault. The door closed behind him, not giving the Ordinators any chance to follow. The Ordinators hadn't even heard the word of "Kaelin". Jaim found many relics down there. He even found around 1000 gold peices. He then gathered up the weapons, putting the Icecleaver in his belt, and went out a back way, ending up in the courtyard of the Temple. He sold some of the weapons to the Smith there and bought a few more Armorer Hammers. He walked out of the Temple and back into the tradehouse. He then went down into his bed, which was still rented, and let his tears flow freely.

Solin stood in the guild house after the others had left.  His thoughts hovered a moment, trying to decided if he could follow.

He shook his head from side to side slowly and then closed his eyes.  His memory conjured the image of a glowing mark where it was written.  The dunmer sighed as white light coalesced about his form.  The world parted like a curtain being drawn and he was somewhere else.

*

Doll watched Solin's departure with concern in her dark eyes. The young Akaviri girl had been watching Solin ever since his arrival, in fact. She knew he was suffering from Void Sickness; and she knew, from speaking to her mistress, that many who fell into such a decline never returned.

It was possible to gain so much of the universe that you lost your own soul, like a man dropping a shiny Septim into the boundless ocean...

"Skein," Doll said, tugging at the older woman's robe. "Someone should go! And no one else is here to go! Let me follow Solin!"

"It's me you should be asking, pretty lass," said Dragon. "And you're too young for such duties."

"Then why am I here? I lived on my own before I ever came here. Please, please, let me do something."

Skein had been staring into the corner. Now she held up a hand. There was a trail there, a glistening trail; a slug had come and gone, through a crack on the wall, feeding on the fresh herbs in the larder.

"Dragon, let her go," Skein said.

There was no time to lose. In fact she might already be too late to catch the glimpses of Solin's trail in the Void. Doll nodded seriously, and saluted, and whispered a string of power.

She found Solin at an armorer's in Ald'ruhn.

"I should have known better than to ask you this question Arynel. Take my apologies."
Nalion takes a seat at Arynels table.
"We all have a part, our part to play in this game." Nalion's expression grows thoughtful. "I wonder if it is necessary if one needs to know the path he treads and the part he plays. Do we have influence on these paths or is our supposed free will but an illusion?"

Meciander stands outside, and looks up at the night sky. Years ago this would mean it was time for him to feed, not to sleep. But never again. He had mad his pact, and that was behind him now. He thought of the worshipper of Sheogorath inside, and knew he would have to kill him. He thought also of all this talk of the one they called Loranna. If she really was the vessel of Azura, it would become his duty to protect her. But now he just wanted to think. He stepped back into the tradehouse and asked for a bottle of Flin.

"I'm sorry sir, but we don't have that drink in stock here." the bartender said.

"What? Who drank all the flin!?" Asked Meciander "Well, I'll have some shein then." The bartender handed him a bottle, and recieved his payment. Meciander then decided to observe the room and see what happened next.

OOC: Currentl Azrael--my character--a dark elf rogue, training with the mages guild (you will come to understand this later in his tale), is trying desperately to shake off a rather annoying Breton Spellsword, who is tagging along and fawning over his every move; he will figure something out. We ended last time with the Breton running across the mages' guild hall towards Azrael.

IC:

Azrael cringed at the voice. Fifteen minutes and already he had begun to feel his sanity waver; he unconsciously began to reach for his dagger. . .

"Dunmer, what are you doing?", The Bosmer Scribe asked with a very serious tone apparent in his voice, staring at Azrael's dark hand creep slowly towards the vicinity of the well sharpened blade. Snapping out of it, Azrael realized what he was doing, grimaced, and, unwillingly, withdrew his hands back to the open space in front of him, still clenching the note given to him while he was still in Balmora.

Melar bounded over to the agitated Dunmer and laid a hand on his shoulder, exhuberantly asking, "So! What's next?!" Suddenly Azrael felt something let go in his head, and, his self-control lost, turned and threw the Breton to the ground. He reached for his dagger, ready to disembowel the quivering, magical mass of Breton flesh, useless and weak, more annoying than anything he had encountered in his life thus far, but felt nothing where the blade used to reside. He felt around his robe, hoping he had simply misplaced it, but there was nothing.

He heard a small, firm voice behind him say, "We will have NONE of that here, Master Dunmer." Suddenly Azrael felt a sharp, jerking pain in the back of his neck, and then the black void of physical uncosciousness enshrouded him, folding over like a heavy, uncontrollable blanket.

------

"AlMISIVI!", the rogue cried, rolling over and clenching the back of his head, nearly falling out of the large, plush bed he awoke to find himself in. To him it felt as though an imp were beating the walls of his skull with a small, sharpened hammer. Azrael buried his face in one of the 5 laced pillows, letting go a forceful howl; he continued to writhe in pain for another moment, before calming himself, breathing deeply, clenching his jaws as he pulled his face from the pillow where he had planted it.

He sat up, still rubbing the back of his head, holding back a string of rather foul language. The room he was in was small, with a high ceiling; he spied a cabinet adorned with some sort of beast at either end, a set of books on a shelf at the far side, and a stack of robes. Gathering himself, he figured that he must still be in the Mages guild where he fell; he knew not how he ended up in such a sad state, only that he could still feel the effects that came with it.

The door opened, and a brutish looking Orc stepped inside. . .

Solin inspected the boiled leather, it was well made. The armor designed to keep ash out from between the wearer's skin and the suit. Flakes were already drifting in the air outside. The mask was crafted to cover the head and keep ash from the eyes and mouth. It also served to keep one's face well concealed.

The dunmer spilled a sack of septims out on the counter, it was too much of course, but he felt he did not have time to argue, the others had probably arrived in Gnisis sometime ago and he still had hours of traveling.

In truth, despite his heritage, Solin had never worn netch hide before, always preferring the western styles he had grown accustomed to. It was far more comfortable than he'd imagined. He left the shop, hood drawn up over the mask he was wearing, and headed for the enormous strider that would have him on his way to Gnisis. Ash blew hard now as a storm was being whipped into action by the winds.

The Imperial is unaffected by Dagoth's fireball, obviously under the graces of his master. Meciander casts an illusion spell to retore Dagoth's disguise, and then procedes to send nightbane through the neck of the puppet, severing the head. The wound smokes from both sides, and the blood on the blade is quickly absorbed by the blade. Meciander leaves the room, and decides it would be better to sleep elsewhere for the night.

Noticing Allerleirauh in the room, he turns, "Well, I must have done something right, since you're back. You're like red skies before a storm, I always know things are going to get... big, when you pop up."

The masked Dunmer sat still as the strider’s limbs found purchase on the ash covered ground. His head did not move but for the tell-tale signs that he was alive. He gazed out over the land from behind the mask but, he was not really looking. Solin’s thoughts were elsewhere, the gears were turning, the levers were moving but he still did not see it. A gloved hand rested lightly on his large leather pack, stirring occasionally as if it were going to reach out and touch something...

The driver handed the girl a scarf in a strange fit of sympathy for the foreign child.

“Wear that, it will keep the storm from getting to you much,” he rasped.

Okay; if, in some other life, I'm ever tempted to accept a fallen goddess into myself, I will not gather powerful and colorful people around me to further exalt my glory but rather keep to the shadows and work to restore my goddess in secret.  Better to be patient than to have to worry constantly about people blowing up your worshipper base every time you turn your head."

Some moments later, having carefully stored Allie's gifts safely away, she freshens up and comes down wearing her red dress, which at least goes with either of her eye colors equally well.

She looks around, trying to get herself to listen and to not fantasize about dumping half of these people in Red Mountain.  " ... Good day, everyone; I'm happy to see you hale and safe ..."

*

"Ah, wonderful, you're ready then?" says Aricyn, turning Loranna around to inspect her appearance.

"Good, now, I'm going to lead you out. Liris has his guards standing at the ready, to look imposing and all that. You, on the other hand, should remember to look slightly pitiful and very pregnant, but still regal. Don't forget the regality. Then, you're going to make a speech. A speech to change the world as we know it.

"Just tell them that you want to prove to them that you are truly the vessel of Azura, their mother and patron, and you can't think of a better way than to show her reverence for their ancient customs, and so you wish to go on pilgrimage. Liris will accept, the people will gawk, etc.

"OH! And be absolutely certain to mention that the child you carry is Vivec's. Dunmer just love babies, since they can't have any, and they love Vivec, so that is very important.

"Daylight's wasting, girl," he says, taking her by the wrist without waiting for a reply.

Liris adjusted his belt as he waited for Loranna to come out of the tradehouse. Elben stood next to him still out of breath from running to retreive his master. The guards were stationed about the open field in front, waiting on Loranna and the assembled Dunmer who wanted to see "Azura". He had once again dressed him self as a wealthy merchant, hoping he would pass himself as an "investor" of sorts.

QUOTE(Solin @ Dec 10 2004, 11:06 PM)

Hills and ridges rose and fell as the great beast scrabbled forward over the obstacles trekking onward with it’s passengers for Gnisis.

*

The silt strider swayed into town, and the mostly Dunmer passengers disembarked. Doll returned the scarf to the driver and kissed him on his weathered cheek, then followed Solin.

People were gathering, outside the Temple. She strained to see over the crowd.

Posted by: Loranna Dec 11 2004, 06:49 AM

Aricyn leads Loranna out, his booming voice pronouncing grandly "BEHOLD, the vessel of Azura has come to lead you all to a new age!" He moves Loranna forward, giving her a quick, reassuring grin, his eyes telling her 'Knock them dead - and remember, regal, always regal'

Loranna looks out to all the Dunmer staring at her - and, especially, her swollen belly. She can hear their thoughts; curiosity, confusion, wonder intertwined, waiting to hear what she has to say.

She had given this moment some thought before, though as she stares outward into the crowd, any pre-prepared words fly from her head. Not wholly unexpected but still terrifying nonetheless.

Still ... she knows the words she needs to say are inside her, and it's just a matter of opening her mouth and speaking. And looking regal, though that she no longer really worried about; she knew the essence of Azura would see to that ...

"Sons and daughters of Morrowind, take heart, for Azura has come.

She comes to you as did Nerevar Reborn, in the body of an outlander, to lead you to a new and brighter age.

She comes to you bearing the child of Mastery and Moonshadow, Vivec's last gift - a daughter, to break the curse of seed.

She comes to you to share your burdens and to know your pain, that she may lead you back to the old ways into a new age - ancient tradition and new experience combined to craft a glorious future for us all.

She knows there are those who will doubt that she has truly come; she offers her mercy and understanding to the naysayers, knowing that their hearts will soon feel the dawn of understanding.

She knows that there are those who doubt her sincerity; she offers her kindness and love, and will walk the land as pilgrams walk, to spread her message and her compassion.

She knows that difficult times lie ahead, and she has come to show you the strength to meet those times as true scions of Morrowind - with honor, dignity, and with strength."

She turns, looking to Lord Liris, listening to the crowd ...

Posted by: Teleran Dec 11 2004, 06:53 AM

Teleran’s sleep does not last long, he awoke shortly after lying down, the voice he had heard in his thoughts ringing in his ears. He surveys the orc he killed on the way in, a bandit. He must have been a fool to work alone. No, there were four bedrolls here; his compatriots were still out there in the night. This could be an enjoyable hunt.

As he loped off in search of the bandits, he forgot completely about the larger hunt looming on the horizon.

It did not take long to track the bandits down. They were so poorly hidden that any fool walking along the path could have seen them and avoided their poorly laid trap. Three silver daggers flew off into the night unheeded by any. And then Teleran walked along the middle of the road until he was directly in their trap. He slowed, wondering what the fools were doing. He had been nice enough to walk to where their “trap” would be most effective and they were not moving, just as was about to end this farce and dispatch the would-be bandits when they finally jumped out of hiding and he found three longbows drawn and pointed at him.

“Hand over all your gold, S’wit,” cried one of the archers.

“No, I think you should stay off the roads, after all those sticks will no avail you in fighting me,” laughed Teleran as silver streaks severed all three bowstrings, “Now leave before I slay you like your Orismer friend at the cave.”

“What?” cried another of the archers, fright evident in his voice.

The one who had spoken before, rage evident in her voice cried, “Die N’wah!!”

All three bandits charged, drawing their weapons as they came.

“I was hoping for more of a challenge,” Teleran stated ruefully as the three silver daggers leapt from the ground and sliced through two of the three bandits. The one who had stayed silent managed to get her sword blade up in time to deflect the dagger from its path. “You are smarter than your friends, if you wish you may still leave and I will not harm you.”

The three silver daggers are joined by a daedric one as they float in the air between the third bandit and Teleran.

“I will leave,” said the bandit.

“Good, at least one of you has some sense.”

But as Teleran turns to go the bandit lets out a yell and charges, only to be impaled upon her own sword. “I guess I was wrong,” Teleran sighs.

Then the weight of recent events returned to him and he headed back to Gnisis to see if anything strange had transpired in his absence.

The orc was swifter than most Azrael had seen, entering the room, and closing the door quietly behind him all in one, fluid motion. "You, you Azrael, right?", the orc grumbled, "You the one who attacked that Breton out in the main hall?"

"Yes, that would be me.", Azrael replied, trying to mask his sense of wary fear.

The orc's eyes widened with pleasant surprise, as if he had done something of great importance, "Yeah, Master say him want to see you, so you come on out and talk with him, no stupid moves, Dunmer"

Careful not to rip the door from it's hinges, the intimidating mage's apprentice opened it lightly, signaling Azrael through.

He walked by an open room on his way to the main guild-hall floor and caught a few pieces of dialogue from two younger apprentices:

"Did you hear? The master has been talking about Azura!"

"I don't believe you; Azura? You've been telling lies again A'eil."

"Azura?", Azrael thought, "I've heard that name before, and this is the very same?" He realized that he had stopped a few feet from the door when his large, orcish escort nudged him in the back with his large, greenish grey hand, "You keep moving, Master want to see you quick."

At long last they had made it to the main floor of the guild, and Azrael could see an Older, Breton woman standing opposite him in the room, next to Melar, the young mage he had tried to remove earlier. She had a passive look on her face, and Azrael had no idea what to expect from her, being only a few hours into his 'service' here at the guild. Melar turns from the woman and caught a glimpse of Azrael, before scurring off into an alcove that was just out of the Dunmer's sight.

"Here Azrael, master, like you ask.", the escort growled at the woman.

"Thank you Tryooig, that will be all", she responded, with a near-angelic voice.

She waited for the Orc to leave the room before turning to Azrael; she spent a long time simply staring at him, apparently sizing him up. "You, you attacked another guild member", she said, "Why would you do this?" Azrael blinked, and responded, "I'm not quite sure, Master. . .errm?"

"You may call me Adriana", she replied, "I will be your Mistress while you are at this sect of the guild."

"You mean, I'm still in?", Azrael replied, a bit hesitant to assume anything, "Even after. . ."

"Yes, even after you attacked another guild member", she said, smiling, "I spoke with him, and personally, I don't exactly blame you. See that it doesn't happen again, though; I will keep you two seperate to make things easier." Azrael nodded, to show his agreement, and stood still, waiting for her to address him again, as he knew she would.

"I watched you from the balcony, over there", she motioned towards the staircase, "and I can tell that you are not exactly the normal mage. I won't ask you more, but if you are willing, I have a task for you."

Azrael nodded, remaining silent.

"Good. You must not share this information with those outside the guild, though it is obvious that some may know already. We have recieved word through Skyrim that Azura, Goddess of Dusk and Dawn, has made an appearance here on Vvardenfell. A local group of travelers, of various natures and race, have gathered at the Madach Tradehouse, just across from the temple. You seem as though you can handle yourself quite well, from the display you put on earlier, so I would like you to go and speak with them."

Azrael took in the last bit of information, and thought about it for a second, "She is letting me stay in the guild, and I need this, so I will do this thing for her, then we will see what I can do for myself."

"Yes, very well mistress. I am to report to you with anything I find?", he asked.

"Yes, that will be all I ask, Azrael. Further instructions will come later."

Azrael turned and swiftly climbed the stairs to the ground level floor. He spotted Melar on the way out and walked over to him, "Melar, I have spoken with Adriana. I apologize for my actions earlier, but I would suggest you stay away from me if you would rather not have a reccurence."

With this he turned the corner into the entry-room, and opened the door, heading across the town's 'quare', to the tradehouse.

When we last left Razub, he was chained up in a necromancer lair, unsure if he would be killed or not.

As the necromancers approached Razub, he felt a dark energy flow from them. The dunmer unlocked the shackles and joined the others who were now knealing before Razub. "Master Beldoh," said the Dunmer, who appeared to be the leader. "It is wonderful that you have returned to us. I am your loyal servant Inganare Yahahulu Ahanidiran, or Ing for short." "And I am Gro-Bagamul Durog, at your service." said the orc. Razub was quite confused as to who this "Master Beldoh" was. It was obvious they were talking to him, but why? "Perhaps Master Beldoh would like to put his amulet on?" And before the confused Razub could react, Ing put on the amulet, and the dark energy flowed through Razub once more. Illidan gets his head about himself and manages to climb to his feet. "Might aswell go outside and see all this proclamation" He says to himself wiping his eyes. He makes his way over to the door and lets out a heavy sigh.

Meanwhile Dante is still listening intently to the words of the people. "This is all very strange" He whispers to himself,
Well, you've done it now Dante...You've really put your foot in it, but never the less...You've done a fine job at it Dante shook his head for a brief second and went back to listening.

Dur’el and Allimar stand far away from the gathered crowd of spectators, talking amongst themselfs.

“Alright, now’s the time.” Dur’el says walking away from the crowd.

“Time for what?” Allimar asks curiously.

“Think about it, Doorstop. Almost the whole town is over there.” Dur’el says as he points to the crowd of people. “So, that means no ones over here.” Dur’el raises his other arm and points in the opposite direction of the large group.

“So that means, what?” Allimar says confused.

“You’re such an idiot.” Dur’el says as he walks off.

Allimar follows Dur’el with his arms raised. “What?” Allimar replies.

Turning to look at Teras, she asks "Mockery?  Is that all you hear?  After everything that has happened since Nerevar Reborn fulfilled the prophecy, you still say this?"

"I think I changed my mind when you kept spouting what comes out the bad end of a guar. The Inquisitors should strike you down now fool foreigner," Teras yelled back but his cries fell on deaf ears.

The crowd surged forward to follow Loranna into the temple.

Liris was about to follow when an arm snaked out and snatched his sleeve.

"My lord, a letter has arrived," Faril said. Liris nodded and followed the servant back to the privacy of the fort.

Wayrestian Alcaire, High Rock

‘No one goes near the house,’ said Naphiticles, as they dropped from their horses, and walked past the Temple Of Dibella, into the shadow of the city wall. ‘The locals think it’s haunted.’

Elysana nodded and said nothing. The house looked perfectly ordinary enough. A little decrepit, run-down, but not so sinister.

On the snowy ground, the words ‘ENTER’ melted through, as if drawn by an unseen child’s finger. The Queen drew her fur cloak around her closer.

At Elysana’s nod, one of her soldiers opened the door. It was dark inside as they all entered.

‘Her Majesty, your Queen commands the presence of the man called Leseth,’ Naphiticles called into the gloom. His strong voice seemed to hang in the air and fall dead. It was a large room they were entering, but there was no echo.

And no furniture. It was barren, but for the undisturbed dust that hung in the air but refused to settle.

‘No one lives here,’ said Elysana, shaking her head. ‘You have the wrong house, fool.’

‘Look up,’ one of the guards gasped.

Loranna doesn't get much chance to reply to anyone specifically as the crowd surges behind her; their current feelings about Azura having returned roar through her mind like a tidal wave - though the waters are getting eagerly lapped up ...

Don't lose yourself in all this, Loranna tells herself, keep your ears open to others ...

Still, there was the question of what to do now that she was at this point ...

The crowd pushes her into the main shrine room, where the Ash Mask of Vivec is on display. Loranna takes a deep breath, the forced hustle being a little wearying on her, and she wraps an arm around her womb.

The Shrine of Justice ... she thinks to herself, looking forward to the Tribunal shrine. Wonder if that's why I dreamt of the Trial this morning ...

She felt something rolling through her, an impulse taking control; the crowd was expecting a miracle, Azura intended to give them one, and she herself wanted to make the best of this whole situation. There was power in her now the likes of which she hadn't had before, and that power was already taking a shape of its own, reaching out ...

The whole crowd feels a gentle, warm tingle coming over them, refreshing their energy, dulling pains, soothing away ailments. Loranna trembles, her eyes closed, whispered utterances slipping through her teeth, as the power flows through her ...

Other effects start making themselves known; things that caused one worry and anxiety no longer seem so bad, as people realize that yes, things will work out in the end after all. Even Allie can feel a touch of this, and Aricyn's birthsign can't completly nullify the tingling sensation of power all around him in his skin ...

Up, there was simply nothing. No ceiling, no sky. This house was flawed, its ceiling was the Void itself.

"My Queen?" It was a voice, deep and rough, but quiet, a voice to scare little children. "I hail from the land above your heads."

There was a flutter in the infinite above, and a part of the darkness broke free and fell into the room.

It was not a man wrapped in the tattered black cloak before them. It bore the broad frame and yellow tusks of an ork, but the skin was black, the eyes red, and the nose long and high-ridged. Black armor glistened in the folds of the cloak.

"You tread new ground... Queen. You seek the answers to questions that should never be asked. You bring those into my house that should know to remain outside.

"I am Leseth, and I ask you... Why?"

He asked surprisingly energeticly "Yes, yes I did...I wonder what it was" and the 2 of them ontinue following the others to the temple.

Astonished at what he had seen, Azrael watched the crowd move towards the temple, Loranna and Aricyn leading them on, "How could such a thing truly come to pass, in this way? This is not right, none of this; I must inform Adriana". The Dunmer turned towards the guild and ran, darting over small clumps of dirt and rocks scattered over the square.

‘Leseth,’ a little girl’s voice says from the blackness above. ‘I told them to come to you.’

Elysana’s guard had already stepped forward, as if to put a blade between the hideous black orc and the Queen.

‘You do not talk so to your sovereign, the Queen of Wayrest and Alcaire,’ the closest guard said. ‘On your knees, brute, and beg her forgiveness.’

Elysana opened her mouth to speak, but smiled instead. She wondered what kind of a man this Leseth was.

At the farside of Gnisis, Allimar climbs on top of a oval, shaped house, while Dur’el watches from the ground.

“You sure this is the only way in?” Allimar says wobbling back, and forth on the roof.

“Yeah, I left my lock-pick tools with Kasha. Now hurry up and climb down that chimney.” Dur’el says, cautiously, looking around.

Allimar gets to the chimney and gingerly gets in. Watching Allimar, Dur’el wonders if the chubby, Bosmer can fit all the way in the chimney. A few seconds later a loud crash is heard inside of the house.

”I guess so.” Dur’el thinks to himself.

A few moments pass, and Allimar opens the door holding his lower back.

“Your landing needs work.” Dur’el says chuckling, as he walks by Allimar into the house.

Dur’el looks around the house and rubs his hands together.

“Lets get naughty.” Dur’el simply says with a smirk.

(A DARK HOUSE IN ALCAIRE:)

The black face stretched in a grin, showing more yellow teeth. In one smooth motion, the cloak swept back from an ebony-encased arm, and an enormous fist impacted the guard's chest. There was a sound like a drum, and the man ceased to be in the room. Somewhere, far above, a man's voice could be heard, screaming.

"A gift to you, little prisoner of the Void." Leseth said to the dark above.

"That I assume, oh Queen, is the show you were waiting to see?"

Allerleirauh felt the warm tingling... but instead of the peace Loranna probably expected to result, the Dunmer people were reacting with anger. She heard them muttering.

"Northern witch with a calm spell trying to put one over on us..." a merchant near her said.

She hoped there would not be violence soon. But she was pleased at the resilience of the Dunmer spirit.

‘I have need of a man such as you,’ Elysana nodded. ‘I need people to protect my interests, to guard me against incursions from others like you who can travel through the Void. To act as eyes and ears in places and distances my spies cannot take. To kill my enemies if need be. The girl Bosriel and I have spoken, and I have agreed to her price. That's when the voice reverberates from Loranna's body ...

It is now time for Justice to be done for my people. Let crimes clouded in secrecy now stand revealed!

Suddenly, Outlanders in the audience begin crying out; voices begin babbling about stolen goods, broken promises, an Orc falls to his knees and wails how he broke a man's neck in a drunken rage ...

There is a loud crack, as the Ash Mask on display suddenly falls to pieces; Temple orderies yell in anger and rage but the voice rings out
No untruth shall stand in the light of this new Dawn; reveal what you have hidden from my people in your foolish pride.

A priest shakes with fear as he steps up to the actual shrine and works a secret mechanism, causing the shrine to open ... to reveal another Ash Mask, one which seems to hum with virtue ...

Loranna's eyes begin dripping tears which sear the floor, causing faint waves of power to wash forth out of the Temple; those outside suddenly expereince what is being felt inside, and soon the air is full of confessions and angry cries for justice ...

Bring the criminals to me, the voice commands, Loranna's expression hardening to marble perfection ...

Could he slay this child, this taint on the face of Mundus? Girai's mind achieved focus for a brief moment. Not the child of a mortal. Not even the liar Vehk's.

If in this dark realm Girai ever found the protonymic of Azura, he knew he could never use it against the child. Never.

In the house Dur’el broke in to, he feverishly grabs the most valuable items, and stuffs them into a bag. Allimar looks around the house dusting himself off.

“Wow, the person who lives here must be rich.” Allimar says excited. “Look at all this expensive stuff.”

“Uh huh.” Dur’el replies uninterested. “Less talky, more stealy.” Dur’el says, throwing a bag at Allimar.

Allimar grabs a few things, then suddenly Al drops to his knees yelling about stealing food, and pinching Dunmer wenches.

“What is wrong...” Dur’el begins before the pain, and sadness he has cause, to Dunmers, comes rushing on him, like a vicious tidal wave.

Dur’el drops to one knee, but will not let the pain consume him. Finally it gets SO bad that Dur’el bursts into tears, and drops in a fetal position on the floor, yelling as loud as his vocal cords will allow.

"Aaargh!!" he cries out, " I have taken from the Dunmer, drunk Matze and brandy and flin that was not mine to drink, removed their rightful possessions from their places. I have hidden this and laughed at their ignorance."

The pain leaves him and he stands, though he does not remember falling and looks up to see Dur'el and Allimar on the ground as well. Naphiticles drops to his knees in front of his Queen. He grasps her right hand, and weeps in terror.

‘You have been right when my other sages were wrong,’ she said, stroking his face with her other hand. ‘When they said an army of men had invaded my palace, or I had offended the daedra Azura, you told me of the Void. You advised me on the construction of my new palace, showing me how to create a sanctuary which the Void Rangers could not enter. You found this extraordinary girl, this Bosriel for me. Dunmer whose eyes burn with rightous fury drag every confessing Outlander into the Temple, where Loranna's now fully grey eyes regard them cooly, still dripping tears.

You have all heard the wrongs committed by these Outlanders from their very lips; such is the power of Azura, the voice says. Now shall you hear the judgement of Azura - but I come to my people in mercy, so shall I demonstrate mercy, even to the sinners.

Those of you before me now, I offer you a choice. You see my tears falling from my eyes; if you repent your crimes come and catch my tears in your hands and drink them; your atonement for your crimes shall be granted by my power and you shall stand redeemed before my people, accepted by my sufferance to live among them and serve their needs.

Those who do not repent however ... are free to leave Morrowind, never to return, and to spread the tale of Azura's power that all may know - this land is once again the home of the Dunmer people and shall be knwon as such.

‘Most satisfactory,’ Elysana thought.

She looked to her guards, some of whom were staring at the floor, white-faced, jaws agape. When they saw her look their way, each one straightened up, freezing their faces into masks of professional disinterest.

‘Bosriel, Leseth,’ Elysana called to the Void. ‘I must know what transpired in Hammerfell, in the inn in Rihad where my men went to apprehend Lord Ciel. If they did not find him, or let him get away, I would have him found. Him, and the man who helped him escape from me. You do not need to capture or kill them … yet … I would first wish information on who he is, and whether he is working alone or with others.’

With that, the Queen of Wayrest and her men left the haunted house of the void, and began their way back to her palace in the Wrothgarian Mountains.

Out of the side of his mouth, he whispers something quietly to her.

She frowns and rolls her eyes, and Aricyn whispers again.

The Dunmer girl shakes her head in mock pity, then moves away again.

After hearing Aricyn’s request Kasha sighs and points at Aricyn.

"Hey, everybody look! This Nord isn't feeling any pain! He has never hurt the Dunmer people! All praise this wonderful man!" Kasha says excited.

While no one is looking, Kasha quickly cuts the act, and leans over to Aricyn.

"You owe me." She whispers.

Arynel eyes the angry faces of the Dunmer faces around him. The pleeding looks of the others.

"Outlanders." Arynel muses. "That is what they call them. I am an outlander here too I suppose. In any case, this does not seem to be a good place to ramble."

The Breton waves his arm, and his form shimmers, then vanishes in a flash of green light.

Aricyn hides a wink to Kasha, and then steps forward.

"I only have the best interests of the great Dunmer people in my heart, as does your great patron Azura.

"Vivec and Azura are one! I hope that from this day forward, unity will continue to drive separation from your blessed land."
