Part Twenty begins ...

OOC: The Breton Arynel is currently waiting, albiet impatiently, at and around Suran.

IC:

Grabbing hold of a gnarled root projecting out of the clay before him, Arynel lifted himself further up the length of the incline. Looking over his shoulder the Breton found a small protruding stone which served nicely as a foothold. Up just a little higher the incline became less dramatic, and soon he was sitting comfortably.

Arynel took a long, deep breath, and the Breton smiled.

"Joy is manifest in triumph over obstacles, overcome hardship to know happiness."

Summary
Reichi - fighting Vampires in Bal Ur, seems to have dispatched all but one. A Orma Argonian.

Dar'var- heading with the rest of the freed slaves towards ebonheart

Tarenen- currently, searching the waters near his ecampment for the corpse of Bragor his former spy, he forgot the bosmer had the ebony blade before he executed the poor elf for failure. Tarenen isn't exactly a forgiving guy, at least to Bosmer.
----------------------------------------------------------
Bal Ur

Reichi walked about the shrine, listening for the Orma. She was hiding around here somewhere. A sharp whistle of something flying through the air made him twist around. Just in time for the projectile to strike him in the shoulder.

He grasped his shoulder as pain coursed through his body. He pulled the dart free and saw that the wound was bubbling.

Poison...

Then a idea struck him like a Vivec Canton falling on a shalk. He sprawled motionless on the ground.

Play dead....

"Azrael, wake up. . .Azrael?"

That voice; again, he heard that voice, those words, that question. The ashen eyes, already closed, clamped themselves tighter still. "No, I don't want to get up. I think I'll rest just a bit longer. . ."

It was odd, a tad too odd, that Azrael should hear this phrase so many times; he lay, recalling the scenes--so recent, piercing his mind, striking him into alarm--in which he had awaken to it before. Though he was awake, his eyes would remain shut for now, he decided, his soul in a dream-state, not wishing to face what lay beyond the lids covering his field of vision once more. There was only one way out of the inevitable, one way to clot this torture. "Cerebellum, key point. Strike it, and no more threat. All that is required is to make it go away; strike, pull back, extend, release, pull back. . ."

This idea resounded in his head so many times; he reached for his dagger, slowly, not wishing to alert that which he feared, that which he intended to disarm, and to trim of attributes which may lead to the assumption of life. . .one way or another.

But 'lo; the dark hand met the piece of cloth once supporting a small, ivory sheath--he met this and found it to be bare, with no sign of it's former burden, which was his former comfort. A mix of anger, and of anguish, formed in his head--they had taken it from him, they had stolen it from him while he slept, but he was awake now, and it was his--swirling as a large sieve; he plucked from it a genuine fear, and his personality turned a mild shade of gray.

"The was my father's blade--my only momento of a time before my own, a time I will never see, and a figure that, now, I will never know. . ."

Azrael felt, as he began to tremble inwardly, nearly unable to restrain himself at that moment, a large plate of steel, a joint, kneeling down beside him--he heard the flat thud of a blade. His eyes were open, but he did not need them now, he did not care to see what it was that loomed over him.

A hand grazed his cheek, and suddenly, he was upon the figure, beating blindly at his target. He would never stop, the beast would be smote, and his father's blade would, once more, be in his hands. He saw himself walking away from a bloody mess, wiping what had spattered onto his hands on a small, tattered bit of robe, spitting on the ground where the body lay. . .

But, during his vengeance; during his animalistic wrath, he heard a noise, quite off. It sounded like the scream of a child, but there was no child around.

And then, striking him as a cold fist, to the back of the head, it clicked, and he wondered now what he had done. Opening his eyes, he noted a lack of armor, a lack of weapons, his attention darted around a well stocked room, casually glanced over a feathered bed.

There was no beast. . .

Hmmm. I wonder whether she'll be here this night. Nyrilla let the squashed Black Rose fall to the ground, and turned from the road. She had the feeling she was not going to see the Incarnate this night. And she was tired; the travel from Mournhold, up the Thir and a whole day on the moving, ever moving planks of a small Nord vessel had been rough on her, especially since she was no child of the seas to begin with. She felt she needed to go to sleep now, to get the bouncing and nausea of the voyage out of her mind.

Even if that meant sharing a room with propably more than one other traveler. She was sure the innskeeper would cash in on the influx of spectators. No Hlaalu could pass up an opportunity to earn more money, and if that meant to literally pile people in the rooms of their inn.

Mephala's tear, on that ebony necklace the Nord woman had given her as a parting present, was glowing slightly, in the darkest shade of red. The incarnatemust be close by, she thought. Tomorrow. Definitly, she would see her tmorrow.

Arynel picked up a stone off the ground and began to examine it.

"What is this thing? Is it only what I hold?" The Breton said inquisitively. "Is it only what I can readily observe with my senses, its weight, its texture, its cooldness? What are these? Is its weight truly a function of its form, or is it a creation of my own mind, transferred onto the stone itself? Does the stone exist only as I can readily observe, or does it exist on other levels too? At what level does the stone cease to be?"

Arynel tossed the stone, which thwacked against the side of a tree.

"If a man cannot know a thing as simple as a stone, can he know anything at all? Truly, to understand even the simplest things, one must comprehend all things."

"Why does Two-Tails follow them here, he is no help here, he should have just stayed in Vivec and waited for them. Two-Tails should just head back to Vivec, but he doesn't think he will. He must keep an eye on everyone, that is what he does, maby he will find something to steal if he stays. Yes, Two-Tails thinks he will stay, he sences there is fun to be had."

Outside Suran: Allerleirauh

"Someone give me a map," Allerleirauh demanded. "HOW are the worshippers getting back and forth from Bal Ur? There's a mountain in the way. We need your wolf, Aricyn."

She knelt and looked at the ground. "They surely can't have gone by Telasero. There's no way to get there, without flying over the mountains, less than a 3 day journey. Aricyn, can you fly?"

"I don't mind that a bit," Allerleirauh said. "Those eaten by alits usually stay dead. All right. If they haven't been gone long, we may even beat them there."

She nodded to Wyrloc and his men. "You go the long route. We're taking a short cut."

She grasped her magical dagger and rose into the air, then headed across the mountains. Soon she could see the curves and spikes of Bal Ur. No worshippers in sight - but an alit spat poison at her as she landed. She dispatched it, wiped the dagger on the ground, and tucked it in her belt.

"No, not undead, just dead."

Allerleirauh stepped over the bloody carcasses and made her way into the lower levels of Bal Ur. Here the daedric building - she had never been too sure what daedric shrines were made of - gave way to rough hewn natural caverns. At the lowest level, they found themselves standing at the foot of a massive statue of Molag Bal. Allerleirauh looked up at the crotch of the God of Rape, high above her head.

"It occurs to me," she said, "That Azura's worshippers are fools to desecrate the shrine of another Daedra Prince."

She laid her hand against the stone leg of the giant statue. "Nothing. He won't speak to me. Maybe I should throw a pomegranate at him."

She spoke lightly, but her eyes were troubled.

"Aricyn... vampires or no vampires, if Loranna's people build a shrine here, the powers of Oblivion will make war against them. Molag Bal isn't dead like Almalexia or gone like Vivec, that his shrine can be desecrated so lightly. We can't just clear the place out and let them move in. We have to persuade them of their folly."

"Well, I can't see that that's our problem," Aricyn said with a slight grin.

"At any rate, it'll be a day before they round the foyada near Lake Nabia and walk all the way back down here. Let's go inform the Prince of Dawn and Dusk of the impending doom... and get a drink."

Suran

It had been an interesting coversation to say the least, one in which Loranna once again laughed honest laughter, but it wasn't destined to last as long as she might have hoped. Jazbet's eyes started to grow tired and she realized he needed some sleep, so with another kiss to his cheek and a brief moment of sorrow that she didn't yet feel ready to offer more, she left him to his rest. She, herself, felt comfortably energized thanks to his expert backrub.

Of course, that meant she had all night to think again, which promised to bring back less than happy thoughts. However, she'd deal with that when the time came.

Heading back to her dias, Loranna stops along the way to grab a glass fo water to whet her throat - all the talking and laughing had dried her out a little and she hadn't wanted to touch the wine too much - and wonders how her companions are doing.

Ciel’s Journal – Marked the Seventh of Morning Star

This land isn’t without its own beauties. One may lose sight of it when surrounded by the dust and ash of the great mountain that dominates the island but now I catch sight of sparkling lakes, the exotic varieties of the local flora, and an abundance of wildlife. The driver assures me that the journey to Suran is not long.

I almost wish it was. Akatosh, can you hear my prayers?

I am confronted with a distinct problem. I know not what to do when I arrive. A god, how am I to handle a god? Her presence has spread beyond the Nord girl I confronted in Skyrim. It has stretched out and touched places as far away from her as Balmora, beyond even. If she still consented to a trial, the enforcement would be impossible. A god is beyond the judgment of mortals.

I feel been without the right so long that I have forgotten what it is and only grasp the vestiges when they brush by. Recent words weigh heavily on my mind. Loranna, guilty of folly, no doubt, is mortal and not beyond mortal judgment. What then should that judgment be? Is death what she deserves for her transgressions, inspired god promptings? We will see come the end.

As fate seems to be approaching at ever quickening pace I realize that I have pushed aside what I have needed to do in the name of this quest. The path stretches on for so long. I thank all the gods that I need not walk it all alone.

Suran: Allerleirauh

Aricyn cast his shout and was gone. Allerleirauh returned more sedately, flying by means of the magical dagger. She caught sight of Arynel seated on an outcropping of rock and waved at him as she passed.

She resumed her seat beside Loranna. "Don't you ever rest? The usual madness. Fortunately none of your worshippers know how to use a map; Bal Ur isn't close to Suran, unless you're a cliff racer. There were vampires there, but no longer. Have you thought about the fact that it's a shrine belonging to another Daedra Prince? Is Azura out to get them, as well as Almsivi?"

Posted by: Tholer_Saryoni Jan 8 2005, 09:26 AM

Serethi Indoril was lying, collapsed on his chair and dreaming pleasantly. It was a damp and foggy night, the kind where all a person might ask for would equal up to a dry place and a fire. Serethi was now in possesion of both of these amenities and thus restful sleep was upon him. In the surreal aspect of his mind, Serethi was once again in the realm of his childhood, Almalexia. This was a good day; today Serethi was going to receive his first assignments.

Except, this time something different happened. While walking down a sun-lit street, Serethi was accosted by a beggar. "Hey, boy. Want to hear a story?" he asked looking at the blue over the Indoril's head.
"No, by Almsivi's grace, you should find a hostel, sera. The charity of this city and its Lady is not without renown."
"I might," he replied, "But there's something I have to tell you. When I was a young boy, I heard a poem. Haven't forgotten it yet, but somethin' tells me you ought to hear it:

Eightfold rising clouds
Build an eightfold fence
An eightfold Izumo fence
Wherein to keep my bride--
Oh! splendid eightfold fence.
"

Now Serethi abruptly woke up. However, the scratchy voice of the beggar was replaced by the rich tones of a noble throat, and the poem repeated itself in his mind. He looked around his office, and fond none were within the crab-shell colored walls. Serethi sighed, and slowly straightened the papers on his desk. The silence of the night could only remind this Dunmer that he was far away from the light and joy of Mournhold. Over the passing hour, he gloomily signed transcripts and Temple Documents to the sound of pattering rain.

Some time had elapsed when the door of the office opened. Saryoni was the one to walk through. "Patriarch..." Serethi gasped.

"Sit down, Indoril Serethi. You have served us with honor thus far and done credit to all of your family. Sainthood requires selflessness, and you serve with altruism. The recent arrest of King Hlaalu Helseth has earned you great fame with the council. Serjo Andalen and I agree your leadership shall be transported to the Halls of Justice,"

"I am to be an inquisitor?”

“Yes, if ever there is ever a great step in the career of any Ordinator, it is the office of Inquisitor. From there you will surely move to High Ordination. The papers are in circulation, but you can start now.”

“Thank you very much, Archcanon; may Almsivi praise you!”

“We shall see. Anyways, I might give you some advice for the near future. It will fall under your jurisdiction to protect Vivec, and I do not know the measures you must follow. Be aware that the King Helseth has declared war on this Archcanon; he will bring it to Morrowind if his attack is proven unmitigated. You shall find support among the Dunmer, for they hate him. Truly diverse assortments of enemies wish to destroy Loranna Pyrel; she must find defense. I have already sent Armigers for this purpose, but you may wish to do more, Serethi. I bestow my most earning blessing upon you Serethi. You will find glory here, I know it.”

To the dismay of the Indoril, Tholer Saryoni made the sign of recall and disappeared.

Vivec, Foreign Quarte
r
Dawn was racing to break the night sky, but the coolness of dark remained. Every so often the hoot of some bird or the bark of some animal could be heard. For the most part, all were asleep and unaware. Saryoni stood atop among the spires, looking out and across the land, city, and sky. He knew why he was standing on the roof of a giant building and what purpose it would serve. ‘If only things could be amicably resolved’ he thought, but instantly knew it was impossible. He knew for every mishap, every mistake, a scapegoat must be made. Sometimes it was not a person – a piece of equipment – but there was always something to be blamed. To keep the Temple whole, Saryoni was here. Morrowind needed the temple, there was nothing without its guidance. He was here so it would not be destroyed in a moment, so that reason might shield it. There was something else, too. Saryoni sat down, breathed the cool air in his lungs once more, and sighed. He was reminded of a poem he had heard once before, but had slipped away until now.

That was the best moment of the monk's life. Firm on a pile of firewood, With nothing more to say, hear, see, Smoke wrapped him, his folded hands blazed...

Suddenly a whirling mushroom cloud rose, Before his singed eyes, and he was a mass Of flame. Globes, one after another, rolled out. The delighted sparrows flew around like fire balls.

‘Yes,’ the Archcanon thought, ‘If my plans are gone to waste, and all is ruin, some fragment of the past may be retained. The hyacinths, coda flowers…perhaps in an evil future some will sprout, in a place far away.’ A life of service and piety would come to fruition here. Even if there was no need for a scapegoat, there would be no need for the Archcanon.

Tholer Saryoni cast himself from the Canton. As he fell toward the riverbank, the winds and air carried him to the ground, as if they were already preparing his funeral. He wondered, as his body neared the ground, if he was seeing Vivec waiting, with outstretched arms--

Loranna looks over at Allie, and the silver-haiered woman can see the signs of Jazbet's ministrations; Loranna sits a little straighter and her face looks less lined with worry - at least until she starts contemplating what Allie said.

" ... Not as often as I'd like nowadays but I actually did get some restoration tonight," she answers. "And yes, the thought did cross my mind; by the time I noticed people were talking about going to Bal Ur though it sounded like they were practically already there ..."

Loranna frowns a bit. "Right; so they're not anywhere near Bal Ur. Now that we know that, the question is, do I yell at them mentally, go to them to lambaste them physically, or do we do some other thing that does not immediately spring to my mind ..."

" ... Thank you for going and investigating, Allie," Loranna finishes.

Elysana listened, and as she did, she thought, Meridia, you said you'd be keeping a close eye on me. I hope you're doing so now. Liris is loyal, and has been keeping Loranna under his watch this entire time, as per our contract.

"It won't be the first time a madwoman or a fool has inspired a cult and a revolution. They've been doing that since Alessia's time," said the Queen, smiling. "The question remains -- has the cult become truly a threat to Helseth's reign, and will it withstand an assault by his forces? I would like your thoughts, and then see for myself."

Though Meridia's thoughts weren't directed towards her, Elysana's mind goes to a similar topic. She notices Liris's habit of thrumming his belt.

"And how has that been working?" she asks.

“The mob is a disorganized rabble,” Liris replied. “They have, however, blooded themselves in the past, at Azura’s new temple. A concerted strike by an organized force, though? I fear to think of the results. My- Your men, your Highness, would stand well enough but I fear they are no army. Dislike of Helseth runs deep, I would not be surprised if a local uprising would sway the fortunes of war to our favor.

“As I said before, the temple has taken note of Loranna, I do not think that they would allow her to be crushed, even after she desecrated Ghostgate.”

Liris looks to the indicated belt. He was never without it. Often he dressed to match it.

“Your Highness’s gift has worked most wonderfully,” he said. “My secrets have remained my own, as well as yours, of course, and the goddess hears only what I would tell her.”

House of Earthly Delights: Mirea

"Rigma the Stinking will show you dancing, little Elf girl," said the leering Nord man.

Mirea ducked away from his breath, heavily laden with sujamma fumes, and returned his grin. "You're not naked, though!"

"Ah, lass, if I was naked they'd have to pay me!"

"Tips only," Deselle said, behind the bar. "I don't pay the dancers, they pay me a share of their tips."

"I'm naked," said a Suthay-Raht Khajiit, looking at her slightly cross-eyed. He hopped onto the table. "C'mon, give me a tip."

"No one wants to see a Khajiit naked!" Mirea said, laughing.

"Azura does," someone said.

The voice had come from a quiet corner of the room, a woman's voice. Several people gasped and looked towards the group of dancers lounging at a table, on break. None of them seemed inclined to own up to the comment.

"She went in his tent," one of the dancers told Mirea later. "Not even I would do that!"

Mirea shook her head. "If she tries anything with him I guess she'll learn the hard way."

"But... Azura... I never knew she was..."

The girl lowered her voice; the end of her sentence was not such as could be repeated in public.

"I hear Vehk makes it with Kagouti," Mirea said. "Ought to be interesting to see how their kid turns out."

Summary:

In the past time, Nalion had wandered in the close vicinity of Suran, for the simple reason of evading the crowd of worshippers. There was another one, though. Since he broke his ties to Great House Telvanni, he could not rely on the help of a faction, and thus he had to get back to sustain his small purse with what the land gave him: ingredients for his potions, which he sold at the local trader.
During his wanderings, he had time to contemplate on some things, but there were still open questions and riddles to him.

Suran:
Nalion sits on the northern city wall of Suran, gazing north, where a party of pilgrims had set off recently to clear out a shrine which was supposed to hold vampires. And of course, it was supposed but be Azuras new temple.
"Folly," he says and shakes his head. "This is a task for warriors, not untrained pilgrims. And to build temples where faith is neither founded nor secured...."

The Breton's voice trails off.

"My apologies, I was not thinking clearly. What I mean to say is they're obviously followers of yours, but are misguided as to what you want them to do. You're inclination would be to educate them, and I allow you that choice."

" ..." Loranna looks back and forth between Arynel and Allie for a moment, words obviously on the tip of her tongue. However, she ends up simply taking a few breaths, her expression slowly resuming a more sorrowful cast.

" ... One moment, please," she says, closing her eyes. "Hopefully this won't take too long ..."

Loranna lets her thoughts reach outward, homing in on the group of pilgrims she now knows are not yet at Bal Ur. She takes an extra moment to make sure these are the ones to which she intends to speak, then she calls out to them:

Dears, hear now the words of the Incarnate, she tells them. Your faith and devotion are welcome in the eyes of the Goddess but Azura has returned to Morrowind to help bring a bright future, not seek war with her bretheren in Oblivion. The shrine at Bal Ur is to remain under the sancity of Molag Bal; return now to the camp and your friends and companions and rest yourselves. There will be other temples to build elsewhere, other roads for us to tread.

If that cannot be aquired, then give to them the warm embrace of faith. No, not the kind they have following this Nord bar wench, that is a fools promise. Or perhaps they may be given the kingdom of a house and a lover, and a family also, that in itself is a duty as much as servitude to a king."

The Breton paused, and turned to Aricyn.

"Tis true, they may have all died, and in fact all will die. But had they not been following Loranna those deaths would not be her responsiblity, because she has proclaimed herself as worthy, and they have taken to following her, she has taken a responsibility as to their welfare. Tris was more than happy to accept his hand; getting up and down was a difficult trick, and his pride was less wounded by assistance than by a header to the cobblestones far below.

An Imperial soldier was standing next to the strider, making a list of names of all those entering and leaving the city. Tris gave a false name without hesitation.

"Now what?" he said quietly, when Ciel rejoined him at the foot of the stairs. "I see where she must be... just follow the lanterns, and the crowd of people. Just walk right up to her?"

UPDATE

Lord Dres Gaor, RIP, commited suicide.

Elysana, Queen of Wayrest, is in her room in Deselle's House of Earthly Delights, with a loyal healer who is tending to her wounded battlemage, Herwyn. Lord Liris, Loranna's head of security, is with her.

Wyrloc, Dunmer Dres Knight and Gaor's lieutenant, is leading his men back from Bal Ur, per Loranna's call.

Jazbet, Khajiit Dres Knight and Gaor's lieutenant, is sleeping in his tent, having another naughty dream about Loranna.

Bosriel, the little girl with red eyes, the Void Vampire, is floating in the Void with Leseth.

"How much does she trust you?" Elysana asks. "If she has many followers, and they're disorganized, what they want is organizing. Whip them into an army for the greater good of their Goddess. And if the situation is hopeless, and they are doomed to be nothing more than a distraction to Helseth, let us make sure they are a worthwhile distraction.'

The Queen of Wayrest turned to the healer. 'How is the patient? You noted his fingers and his dislocated shoulder ... Please, also pay attention to the burns on his feet. I want him mobile as soon as possible.'

"Ciel... Loranna reads minds. You can't hide from her."

The younger man seemed more than usually alert and awake, his movements quick, the veins under his skin clearly visible. In fact he felt half insane, being so near the action, and still crippled. He wanted to make a quick dash at a nearby rock and disappear into the Void.

Several people recommended the House of Earthly delights as a good place to find a private room - although some gave them interestingly speculative looks along with the suggestion.

"Naked dancers, that sort of thing, and a little business upstairs," Tris reported. "Poor Ciel, I keep dragging you to these sorts of places."

The door was standing open, so many people were trying to find a place inside. Tris hesitated on the threshold, then paled, and stepped backwards. A drunken man slammed into him and cursed at him for blocking the doorway.

Tris turned and limped swiftly away.

"Ciel," he said, in the shelter of the doorway of a nearby building, "I don't get - intuitions. Maybe I'm just going crazy finally, starting to remember what happened when Leseth took my leg. But I can't go in there."

He was pale and sweating.

"High Rock, of course," the Queen replied. "I didn't come all this way only for that -- I have business concerns in Morrowind, family business -- but I am interested, now that you mention it.'

"Well... Lady Farrine..." Aricyn says, smiling at the lady and Liris in turn, "regardless of whether or not you came to Morrowind expressly to meet the Incarnate, I'm sure I could arrange for it. She is always willing to meet with people of importance.

"I will broach the subject with her, and inform your Ladyship's friend, Liris, of the proper time."

He bowed deeply, and kissed the lady's hand once again. "A pleasure, Lady."

He turned toward the door.

"Oh, and I do hope your poor companion recovers quicky. The man looks positively tortured."

Bowing again, he turns and leaves.

The old wolf pulled himself to his feet and slowly stretched, then followed after.

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Jan 8 2005, 03:35 AM)

"I'm all right,"  he said, as if to reassure himself. "Let's find another place."

*

Ciel looked concerned.

"You look ill. Are you certain?" he inguired after Tris's health, reaching out to steady the younger man. "Alright, I'm sure that with all the pilgrims around that there are plenty of other places that can offer a bed for the night. Then we can get something to eat. That long run from to Balmora probably wasn't good for either of us."

Elysana's smile does not fade upon the door shutting.

"So, I am to bide my time and wait, am I?" she laughed. "Come, Liris, and show me the camp. I want to be informed before my audience with the holy tavern wench.'

'Do not leave him alone,' Elysana says to the healer. 'The guards will get you anything you need. Food, herbs ... no expense is to be spared ...'

As the Queen leaves the Tavern, she tells the same thing to each of Liris's men. 'If you wish to have a future, and it not to be peculiarly painful, keep a tighter watch on that room. If anyone enters it again, I will be displeased. And get the healer anything he needs, without question.'

'Show me to the disorganized rabble,' she says, taking Liris's arm.

Liris, secretly delighted that the Queen's mood seemed to be bouyant, smiled as well. The meeting could have been worse, much worse.

He would need to speak to his captains about the Queen. For the time being though he was going to take her on a tour of the camp.

As they left the lord gave a nod to one of the cloaked men that the Queen had spoken to. With a quick, discreet sign of acknowledgment he scurried away into the camp.

Aricyn and the old wolf stood on the long walk overlooking the water. Aricyn idly skipped stones onto the other shore.

"So," he said in the direction of the wolf, "the blood of Tiber Septim, huh?"

"Whuff."

Aricyn threw another stone. "Your nose is old."

"Grwr."

"True... true."

She needed to get away from things... away for a while... and think of the events of the past few months... The Imperial Provence seemed like the best place to go, so slowly, with Shardie's White-Gold Sword in its scabbard, she walked the path to Cydoriil... A stranger, a Dark Elf it seemed, approched her...

Sinder Velvin the Dark Elf approached the young Breton.

"Greetings, my lady", he said. "Do you, by any chance, know the way to Mournhold?"

Posted by: Meridia Jan 8 2005, 06:04 PM

'Mournhold?' Thought Maranda... trying to remember where she saw that sign earlier... 'Ah, yes... there is a small tavern about an hour up the road... there, if you turn right... no left, I think, you can get to Mournhold. Why, might I ask, are you going to that city... people are fearing a civil war between the King and the Temple... it is not a nice place to go to...'

"Why am I going there?", he asked. "To record what happens, of course. I cannot miss such an important event", he said.

'Ah, then, a Historian are you? Well things are about to get real bloody... especally with the Azura's so called incarnate around... and I believe there is more than one Daedric Prince hanging around with an intrest in what happens here... yes, things are about to get real bloody... if you really want to see the action up close, I sugest you make your way to Vivec City. May whichever god you worship look down apon you... fare well...' Maranda said, turning to return on her journey

"Thank you for the advice", the Dark Elf said. "And farewell. I doubt we shall meet again."

Following the advice given to him by the Breton, Sinder began his journey to Vivec City...

Bal Ur

Though she never saw it, the Orma heard Reichi slump to the ground. She aproached cautiously, confident that the dart had done its job. However, she was still cautious, and drew her favoritee weapon, a weapon obtained from Solstheim, a Stalhrim Dagger. Dipped in Wolfsbane. The plant was a powerful poison, but, with the right preprations it could turn one into a Werewolf. Kinda ironic given the name, but that didn't matter. Her blade was dipped with the poisonous kind.

Reichi slowed his breathing to a near stop. She may not be able to see him, but she would hear him breathing. He could hear her aproach. Then she stopped. Reichi leapt at her and dug in fangs into her leg. The attack caught the Orma by surprise and she didn't think to slice at Reichi until he had risen, her leg still in his jaws and thrown her bodily across the room.

Reichi wasted no time in persuing her and reached her as she had risen, standing on her good leg, weapon drawn. This time she was ready and struck. The blade tore into Reichi's left leg, turning the flesh near it a purple, like the flower from which the poison itself was made. Reichi stumbled and fell, but was close enough the he could still reach her.

As he fell, his hand tore into her thoat, the two collasped. Reichi breathing raggedly, the Orma not breath much at all. Reichi hauled himself to his feet with the helf of the Daedric architecture and limped towards the back of the shrine, where there were some books, potions, scrolls and chests.

Surely there would be a antidote.

The Khajiit Dres Knight thrashed in his sleep, trying to get away from images beneath his closed eyes. That beautiful ashen skin surrounded by death. Lithe, supple limbs entwined in putrescence. Ecstasy and undeath. Jazbet awoke with a start.

Suran: Allerleirauh

Loranna was resting. Allerleirauh went to find something to eat.

Food in Suran had gotten suspiciously expensive. She made a mental note to have a talk with Erenius about price gouging in the city.

"Hey," Mirea said, sitting down at her table. "You're hard to get to, you're always with that Loranna person."

Allerleirauh raised an eyebrow.

"I have lots of news. But I thought first you might like to know, Tris is here. I saw him," Mirea said.

She received this news with mixed feelings, then asked the question closest to her heart. "How does he look?"

"Older. Bretons age too fast. But still pretty. He's okay, he has a limp."

"Interesting."

They went on talking of other matters.

Loranna was, finally, resting; Allie had been somewhat right in pointing out that Loranna tended not to get too much rest lately. It was hard to rest when you felt uneasy about what you had done that day.

Still, though, she had managed to settle down enough to rest; Arynel's words still buzzed in her head but she told herself she'd ponder them more when she had a clearer head.

She did have an odd image though of a Lich and a Khajiit sitting at a bar and having mead together ...

The Khajiit put his hand to his head and closed his eyes, but there was no way to keep the lich’s skeletal fingers out of his mind.

‘My thoughts are my own,’ he hissed, his eyes opening, furious, and thought I have not lied to you. I desire the woman you love. It is that simple. If you are jealous or want me dead, know that I cannot rifle through your head, like you do to mine. I can only ask that as I have not called you a monster, you do not behave monstrously, as you are doing right now.

‘I will hurt myself long before I hurt her,’ he said simply, and Dagoth Lich knew that to be true. 'If I have offended you by my dreams, I apologize. But you must know what people's honest reactions to liches are, or you would not be in disguise.'

A lockpick would have helped open the chests. Though a Daedric club served just as well. Universal Lockpick. Inside the chest was several potions of cure poison. A note left inside said "If you are hit by my, or any one else's poisons, drink these". The Orma obviously wrote the note for her now dead companions.

Reichi seized several potions and drank them. The contents spilling as much out of his mouth as did actually go down his throat. Immediatly, the effects of the poison began to decline. Reichi took the club he had found and began smashing more chests, the scrolls and books here were useless to him. He couldn't speak the incantations as a Werewolf. He needed some health restoration potions. He was badly wounded.

In one chest he found enough restore health potion to heal his wounds. So Reichi sat, drinking the potions, letting his wounds heal. Despite the wounds healing, blood still stained his white fur of course.

... Jazbet, my friend Allie has accepted your offer to meet her at the swimming hole.  Don't think she'll be bathing but she's coming.  Just remember she can tear the head off an Ogrim and it should be a fun conversation, Loranna tells the Khajiit.

Ah, another friend of yours who will see me as a flea on a dog Jazbet chuckled, and with a wave to Dagoth, continued on the path to the river. Tell me when you want to introduce me to someone more my speed, like your hatmaker ...

It was easiest, in Suran, to simply hop over the wall and walk along the river itself to the right spot. Allerleirauh did that, casting a water walking spell on Mirea by means of one of the many copper rings she kept in her pocket. Soon she spotted the Khajiit - from this distance he looked like any other man - approaching the river.

"He picked a good spot," she said, looking around.

"I hate getting wet, I'll be on a high rock, watching," Mirea said. She scrambled off into the hills.

"Sir," Allerleirauh said, stepping onto the shore, and removing her ring of water-walking, "I don't believe we've been introduced. You are with Dres?"

The Swimming Hole

It was just a shallow inlet in the river, where trees hung low, dipping into the gentle current. A low waterfall joined the flow.

... I am ... disappointed that this happened, she says, her tone carefully modulated. The feelings we have for one another can't just exist for ourselves; we are part of the world no matter how much we are thinking someday of withdrawing from it.

... But I can understand why you did that; the emotion behind it was sweet, but please remember what misguided love can sometimes do. You've ... seen it before, I know.

"Why not?" she said, pulling at the laces of her bodice. The armor was harder to remove. She wished she hadn't sent Mirea away so quickly.

The water was pleasant. It was good to be wet, not just sticky with the terrible humidity. She submerged, and came back up, pushing her hair back from her face.

"Allerleirauh," she said, smiling at him. "But I suppose you knew that. And you are Jazbet, Dres knight. Were you free, before Loranna's trick the other day?"

Jazbet hung his robe on a nearby bush, and dove off the waterfall into the river.

'Isn't it nice here? For some reason, it's warmer than in other parts of the river. It just gets more sun,' he said, swimming towards her. 'Yes, I knew your name even before Loranna mentioned it to me. You've been discussed nearly as much as she has, as I'm sure you know.

I was born a slave, but I have been free for many years now.'

Reichi stepped out of the shrine in time to see the rising sun. His transformation reversed itself, and he became a Dunmer again. He had recovered his daggers and his armor wasn't too badly damaged by his transformation. Save his helmet. Netch Leather could tend to stretch a good amount to accoomodate the transformation. He had taken the Orma's dagger with him along with the Daedric Shortblade and the Dagger of Senses.

Reichi climbed over the mountain once again and slid down the other side, landing near the road a short distance from suran. Its gates were in clear view. He began walking towards it, blood smeared across his face and matting his hair. Perhaps he should stop and wash himsellf off.

She could think of a thousand things that needed saying - but to try to crush his happiness seemed churlish. Loranna badly needed a mortal lover, not a Daedra or a thing made of bones. And everything might not, after all, turn out badly.

Jazbet pretended to be shy, as well, looking down, and trying to summon a blush that wasn’t happening. 'Oh, my goodness. You saw me ...'

Alleleirauh laughed to cover her surprise. "My children, and their father, died long ago. My husband was a Redguard, a fine gentle fellow, and I was much younger then. But - I am in love, if that's what you're asking. You've seen him. The young Breton with the very big mouth and the almost total lack of discretion."

Reichi used the water near to suran to wash himself and his clothing, armor and weapons of blood. The washing however, did not cleanse the scent f blood from him entriely. To anyone with a strong enough nose, such as a Khajiit or Argonian, the vampire's mixed blood would have made him smell like he had slaughtered a village where there was a member of every race.

Once satifactory cleaned he replaced his clothing, armor, and weapons. Then entered Suran.

"That's a pretty compliment, from a pretty fellow. I will... how shall I put this? Further your suit. Loranna needs laughter in her life."

Dante sat, in the lobby of the Suran temple, wrapped in a small gown, apparently some of the priests had taken his armour down to the armorer for him.

"Sorry, but the armorer said he could only restore these admantium greaves" A priest said, as he walked into the room, handing them to Dante. "But....we can't let a soldier of the temple wander around un-protected..."The priest clicked his fingers and a group of people came into the room, each holding a new piece of Indoril armour.

Dante's face lit up, he quickly ran into the other room to try it on, he emerged about 10 minutes later in his new armour. "Oh, and I suppose you'd be wanting this old dirty thing back" Stated the priest, handing Dante his old, dirty, singed cape "And your weapons are in the other room."

Dante thanked the priest and collected his weapons, strapping his sheath to his side, he left the temple, not once daring to mention he wasn't an ordinator.

Hunter Encampment, Road North of Vivec

Tarenen examined the blade. It was a glorious weapon. Weapons created by Daedra often were. Mephala, despite having a obscured sphere, was according to the Morag Tong know to grow in strong for every kill commmited in her name.

This blade reflected that. the Ebony blade absorbed the victims life and gave it to the weilder. Making one who struck their opponent enough capable of healing without a spell or potion. It was also called the Vampire or Leech because of this.

Tarenen was sitting by a small fire the troops had built. Around the fire was arranged logs which served as seating. Further away tents were arranged.

Tarenen as he admired the Ebony Katana, was partially listening to the troops. One partiuclary drunken hunter said something he found interesting.
"Ya know, Weres are Hircine's critters, and his sphere is the hunt, so by huntin' them were doing HIM a favor. So arn't we kinda...uh....fighting a lost cause?"

Tarenen looked up at the man then said, "Our job is not to Oppose hircine, or any Daedra. Our job it to kill Werebeasts, traitors to us, and tthose who get it the way or suppport the beasts. However, if a Daedra opposes us, such as Hircine, we will fight him only long enough to complete our hunt."

The man had a look that said "Oh" on his face and didn't speak again for awhile.

The blade was not all he had taken. Bragor's body was out of the water now as well. He had come up with a plan for the corpse....

Posted by: w0nders Jan 9 2005, 09:16 AM

Merciander and Zero, stood on one of the higher levels of the foreign quater canton, watching....waiting, for Brum and Inzoliah to show up. "Hey Merciander, you see that? looks like a camp fire..." Stated Zero, tapping Merciander on the shoulder "Yes yes, perhaps we should stop over and say hello, after all, we don't want Brum and Inzoliah to find themselves in a bit of trouble when they pass by." The two began to head down to the lower levels of the canton.

Meanwhile, Inzoliah and Brum had made it onto the landmass which leads into Vivec, "Ah, finally...but I don't see why we couldn't of taken the silt strider" Brum moaned, following closely behind Inzoliah "Because, you had to go and make us wanted criminals." she snarled back at him, the two began to make their way to Tarenen's camp.

Posted by: Aki Jan 9 2005, 09:19 AM

Noticing the two travelling down the road, Tarenen had Bragor's corpse shoved in a spare tent. His expirement could wait. He stood, the Ebony Blade still in hs hand and watched them. He wouldn't distrub travellers. They would tell the guards and Tarenen and the Hunters would be ousted, or thought of as bandits.

And that would be bad.

Posted by: w0nders Jan 9 2005, 09:28 AM

Merciander and Zero crossed the bridge out of Vivec and started to make their way towards the camp at the same time, they noticed Inzoliah and Brum in the distance so they quickened their own pace.

Inzoliah and Brum entered the camp and approached Tarenen, Inzoliah infront, Brum not too far behind, his palms spread as if to ready a spell, She approached the Breton looking man and said "Greetings...I don't suppose you'd know where in Vivec I could find a pair of people, namely Merciander and Zero would you?" She asked, eagerly awaiting his answer.

Posted by: Aki Jan 9 2005, 09:31 AM

"Last time i saw them, they were in the Puzzle canal. But the temple kinda reclaimed it so i don't know..." Tarenen said. He noticed the man and woman had the same facial tatoos as the other two men. He was curious, but didn't say anything.

Posted by: w0nders Jan 9 2005, 09:37 AM

"Ah, a shame....well, thankyou for the help anyway" She said, brushing past the man and bumping into another, strangely tall...it was Merciander "Hello again, these were the two we were mentioning earlier on, in the puzzle canal."

Merciander looked around the camp, then chuckled lowly to himself, "You're plan, is to keep this Loranna woman out of the city isn't it?" He asked, still laughing under his own breath.

Tarenen glared at the man. "No, merely to slay those with her in Skyrim who had slew another of troop of ours. However, the main target is a Werewolf named Reichi. If you see a White furred Werewolf, kill it and you will be compensated. Also, if you see a Cathay named Dar'var, kill him and you will be competsated as well. For they are the main targets." he said.

"And do you find something funny about my camp? Or do you chuckle ffor no good reason?"

What? Doesn't every tavern girl who becomes a goddess's Incarnate end up meeting a lich, a Khajiit, and a brash pretty boy who may or may not actually like you that way urging you on to smile for the crowd? Loranna asks, her tone gradually lightening and a smile coming to her face.

... Sorry; so ... um, you and he seem to get along well, Loranna says, not quite sure what else to say.

"No no, I thought we had a different cause here, thus I laughed at how this camp was set up for enforcing that cause, obviously, I was wrong, good day, we will return here when it is time to fight" He stated, making his way out of the camp back towards Vivec, Inzoliah, Brum and Zero following closely behind.

I promised him I would give your relationship the go-ahead, from a medical perspective, and I feel safe enough in doing that. If Sen-Yedda can't be poisoned, she'll probably resist the idea of being expelled by a premature course of labor anyway. And he seems conscientous enough. Certainly pretty enough.

Born into slavery - so I imagine Dres is the only family or home he's ever known. It offers a possible explanation for a few of my more pressing questions.

Tarenen nodded and headed off to the tent where Bragor's corpse was stowed. He knelt down next to the mage in the tent, who had repaired the Bosmer's wounds then smiled at the mage. The mage was allowed to do some necromacy for the Hunters on the side. Esspecially necromancy pertaining to Werewolves and the like.

"Do you think it would work?" Tarenen asked.

"Undoubtedly. But first i will need to prepare the corpse."

"Then do so. Call me when ready."

Tarenen left the tent and sent yet another spy out after loranna's group. However he was only going to serve as a location gauge, no need for any reports until the time was right.

Loranna stops for a moment, thinking about the idea of Allie approving her sleeping with Jazbet 'from a medical perspective'. She fights to prevent a silly grin from coming to her face.

He's Khajiit. That means he's lived his entire life among people who treat Khajiit as beasts. Slavery means more than simply working without pay; it means one may be bred, beaten, sold. House Dres is notorious, even among Dunmer, for its harsh treatment of slaves; slaves in Vvardenfell fear being sold to the mainland, it's used as a threat. Yet he remains where he is, and even fights for those who enslave his own people. Do you wonder that I was curious what kind of creature he was?

My guess, Allerleirauh thought, is that he is well pleased with the highest standing he could ever hope to receive within the only system he has ever known. And he must be remarkable, to have attained such a place.

Setting the slaves free will cause disaster, probably more suffering than if they had remained where they were. But at least that disaster need not be on your conscience. And it would have caused other, and different, disasters, for the Khajiit to learn that not even Azura herself cared about their welfare.

All things considered, there could have been worse hosts for Azura than a fool girl who can't decide what to do next. You could have KNOWN. That would have been far more dangerous. No, once you invited Azura, there was no hope that this business would turn out other than disastrous.

Loranna begins to chuckle ruefully, her eyes closed now.

... Great; my indecision is sparing the world from greater disasters, she laughs. I could see a playwright making a whole series of plays on that concept.

... Well, it's coming to an end of some sort soon,
she says. One way or another, I get the strong feeling Vivec is going to be the end of the road for me. Either I'm going to get crushed in the collision of everyone's grand master plans or else the Temple's going to keep me in protective custody until Sen Yedda is born. It's just a question now of wether Azura is able to get home in the end as well ...

The Camp of Loranna, Suran

Liris led Elysana, the Queen of Wayrest, through the camp, pointing out people of interest from a distance, as they wound their way towards his tent. They were, as he told her earlier, a disorganized group of rabble, and she made certain she fit right in, in a common cloak and hood she had picked up in town.

‘Do they have a time for worship, any rituals?’ she asked. ‘You can’t have a religion that lasts long without some order, some guidelines for behavior …’

“They worship in their own ways,” Liris replied. “The goddess does not make herself known to her followers unless she is performing one of her pilgrimage’s ‘miracles’ or the need is so desperate that must reach out and touch their minds in mass. They do on occasion line up to present her with what gifts they can give.”

He leaned close to the Queen’s ear.

“Other than the few priests we’ve put in place to maintain a semblance of religion, there is no Temple of Azura to speak of. The godhead has not seen fit to create her own. Other than a handful of Dunmer priests who have joined, this is it, all at once.”

'Let us have a tabulation of assets,' Elysana said. 'How many of these people directly or indirectly work for me? As much as a thousand, a third of them? Do they have weapons? A stronghold to repel attacks? What of House Dres?'

Suran, Suran Slave Market: Tris and Ciel

Dranas Sarathram, until recently the proprietor of Suran's slave market, had the quietest house in town now. He hadn't minded in the least accepting Tris's gold for a private room, although Tris had been forced to listen to his complaints.

"Bankrupt!" the ex-slaver said. "Even if the Empire comes in and starts enforcing the Armistice again, how can I hope to recoup my losses?"

"Thank you," Tris said, shutting the door on Saratham and opening a bottle of wine. He was still shaken after his experience at the door of the House of Earthly Delights. What exactly had come over him? The wash of terror had seemed more like memory than imagination. He tried once again to put it out of his mind and focus on the present.

"Ciel, we're here, what are we doing? I'm not good at doing nothing."

Aricyn found Liris, and he was, of course, with the Lady.

Aricyn bowed, not deeply but politely.

Liris walked across the small pavilion and knelt before a small metal locked chest that sat next to a writing desk. “It is impossible to tell what portion of the crowd your force is, my Lady,” he said first. “It grows and shrinks like as if it size were determined by the wind.”

He produced a small key and inserted it into the chest’s lock and turned it disarming the intricate trap mechanism. Retrieving several papers he rose again and approached Elsyana.

“Everything should be in line with these,” he said offering the papers for Elsyana’s inspection. The fortress of Ghostgate is currently under renovation by the goddess’s followers, most of which were spurred into action by your own workmen who remain to supervise the construction. I should make special note of the Dres. Lord Gaor, is dead. Slit his own throat after giving the goddess his estate and slaves declaring himself a spy for Helseth. He wasn’t, of course, but the lie serves its purpose.”

He paused a moment before continuing.

“Before he died he committed his retainers here to aiding your cause.”

This was the second time Aricyn had interrupted Elysana's meeting with Liris, but if she was the least bit irritated, she didn't show it. She merely nodded to Liris, and took Aricyn's arm, letting him lead her to the temple.

'It was very kind of her to agree to meet me on such short notice,' the Queen said. 'I imagine she must get many, many requests ...'

Loranna is already waiting inside the Temple for her private audience, her ever-shifting eyes and tearstreaks catchng the light as she waits to greet her latest visitor.

Taking seat in a corner of the room he leaned back.

Elysana's words alone confirm Loranna's suspicions that this meeting is part of the Queen of Wayrest's plans for Morrowind. Her eyes narrow ever so slightly for a second.

The little Void Vampire Bosriel nodded. It seemed strange, being sent away from him like this ... Why would he not want her around? What was he planning?

Paranoia was a side effect of hunger, she knew. And there were people in the camp who were still asleep. Sick people who had not yet gone to Loranna for a blessing. If one, or maybe two of them died, no one would be at all surprised, and she could think clearly again ...

The dark-haired girl floated off, swallowed up into darkness.

"You want to speak to Liris? Won't he go straight to the queen with the news that you're alive? Or did you plan to kill him?"

Tris asked this as if it wasn't a bad idea.

"Liris doesn't know me by sight. If Elysana talked to him, he may know my name, but only my last name. But we can't know what Leseth told the queen about us. He frowned. "I miss my mobility. Distractions are so much easier if you can run away afterwards. But I'm sure I can manage something. I could even..." and here there was a long pause "... talk to the General. Get you a proper appointment. If you want to do it that way."

QUOTE(Loranna @ Jan 9 2005, 06:00 AM)

Elysana's words alone confirm Loranna's suspicions that this meeting is part of the Queen of Wayrest's plans for Morrowind.  Her eyes narrow ever so slightly for a second.

"It is unusual, to have someone ask this," Loranna says, her expression remaining nuetral for now.  "I am curious as to the nature of your curiosity, Lady Farrine ..."

*

'I have caused offense, I fear,' smiled the Queen sadly. 'It is an unfortunate Breton characteristic to want to know specifics. When told there are good things to eat, we want to know what meats, and how they are to be prepared. When told that someone is in love, we ask for the lovers name and how it came to pass. When told a brighter future is rising, we want to know what it is and how it will happen ...'

In Elysana/Lady Farrine's mind the question is more succinct: Why are so many people following her? Is it because her message is so ... generic?

(SURAN, HOUSE OF THE SLAVE TRADER:)

The air pressure changed suddenly in the room, making the men's ears pop.

It was like all light seeping through the small resin window was being swallowed up in the middle of the room, and then a huge form stood there, its hooded head barely clearing the ceiling.

"Not all second chances are taken, I see," said a deep, quiet voice from within the hood.

"I see," Loranna says, a tiny smile coming to her lips. "You have heard of the bright future promised and naturally wished to hear specifics, and finding few wonder at how something so ... almost, generic sounding, perhaps? - could hold such promise."

"For the Dunmer, however, the details you find yourself looking for are already apparent. They look at the miracles of Azura and see the promise that Morrowind shall once again be their land, their home. They look to the growing Sen Yedda and they see their past and their present joined to lead them into a new age, one free of the needling capriciousness of leaders who do not know their peoples' wants and needs. They know that, when the time is right, the particulars shall be revealed to them as they have in the times past, their gods' wisdom being delivered when it shall be most useful."

"The Dunmer have faith and patience, Lady Farrine; they know their goddess shall provide for them when the time is right."

Loranna ignores the crawling sensation in her stomach; now was a bad time to speak her own mind.

"I knew you were here," Tris said. He could barely hear his own voice; his ears were ringing as if he might pass out.

"Liris is playing his own game here," Ciel said his voice filling with a strange enmity. "He may not be one of the giants but he wears their shoes. I cannot allow him trample more people while climbing to a position of power."

Then the darkness swallowed the rooms light and the knight's familial blade cleared its scabbard.

The silver point was leveled at the massive figure that suddenly appeared in the chamber.

"You would not know," Ciel said calmly though the enmity in his voice had not disappeared.

Two ebony encased hands emerged from the cloak and drew back the dark hood from Leseth's dark, brutal face. He turned to Tris, ignoring the sword pointed at him.

"Then why did you come?"

"I felt you, in that doorway," Tris said. He felt bewildered, and deeply sad. They couldn't have come so far, just to die here. "Leseth - I'm not your problem anymore, why are you following me? You have what you wanted. I'll never run through the Void again. What does it matter to you what an escaped criminal and a cripple do with their lives?"

Dur’el and his party sit in a tavern in Suran having a talk.

“So are you going to tell us how you are over a thousand years old?” Kasha asks Dur’el.

“Are you going to tell us how you knew about the portal, and where it was?” Dur’el says, quickly changing the subject.

Kasha frowns and shakes her head. “Alright, I’ll tell you, but then you have to tell us.” Kasha states pointing a finger at Dur’el.

“What am I, a little kid? I’ll show you, if you show me?” Dur’el frowns.

Kasha ignores him and continues. “As a little girl I sometimes knew when things would happen. It was like a little voice was whispering the future in my ear. I could never control it. It just came and went like it pleased, until we got sent to that horrible place...” Kasha pauses and shutters.

“I don’t really know why the voices came back, or how. But when they did, they came with headaches, terrible headaches. I was at the mercy of them until the day you confronted the alternate version of yourself. On that day all the other voices stopped and I could hear only one, and it said there was a way home by the tree, and if we didn’t get you there you would die.”

Allimar raises an eyebrow. “So you’re hearing psychic voices now?”

Kasha shrugs. “Don’t know. I still have headaches but they’re very small, and the voices are down to a whisper. I tune it out mostly.”

“Well that makes about as much sense, as all the other stuff that has happened to us.” Dur’el scoffs folding his arms. “But there is one thing I don’t get.” Dur’el leans in close to Kasha and Allimar. “Why did the confrontation happen early? I mean, I was told it would happen years from the time it did.”

“I know why.” Allimar whispers.

He then stands up and shows Dur’el a note. Dur’el’s jaw drops when he reads it.

Generic? Elysana/Lady Farrine thinks. I didn't say that word out loud, did I?

'I see,' said the Queen, blinking and returning to the subject. 'Have you issued any standards of behavior, or modes of worship, for your people who cannot join your pilgrimage? Even here, on at least a cursory observation, it would seem that the people do not have any particular tasks, other than to sit and wait for the pilgrimage to continue ... Is their mere presence enough?'

She does have fierce eyes. I imagine few people dare to question her ... that's good for her, but I wonder if it's good for her followers ...

Ciel waited for Leseth's response sowrd at the ready. It was an interesting question to pose. What was here for him to want to intercede so? It did not matter though, Ciel was not intending to let himself or Tris die here. Give me a moment Akatosh, just a moment...

Leseth slowly turned his head and looked the silver blade up and down, an expression on his face like one holding a day old kitten that hisses, fiercely but inaudibly.

"I told you to be a farmer, to settle down, to be happy, and yet you come here. Your actions, Tris, effect others. When will you learn that?

"The queen herself is here, and you are here. I spared two lives once, one for brotherhood, and one for love, and yet you are like moths to the queen's flame.

"A girl's soul hangs in the balance, Tris Gaerington. An ancient, yet very young and innocent girl. Her fate rests on the happiness of the queen, and so I care that the queen is happy... for now.

"You seem intent on making her unhappy, as her finding that the two of you still live most assuredly would. Perhaps I made a mistake in sparing you."

Loranna's eyes seem to grow just a touch fiercer - not all that difficult, Loranna finds, at this moment.

"It is also a Breton characteristic to be very ... questioning, I see; this is a change from what most of my followers ask of me," she says.

"Have you sought this audience, then, to demand details from the Goddess that she shall reveal in her own time, Lady Farrine?" Loranna asks, her voice growing just a touch softer. "Was there anything else of the Goddess you wished to ask?"

The Queen - here?

A girl?

He said Perhaps. He said perhaps, and we are still standing.

"You didn't kill us," Tris said softly. "You didn't kill us, and for better or worse, we are what we are. I don't understand. What girl? A girl in the power of the queen?"

'Goddess,' said the Queen. 'You asked me what I would ask of you, and then thought it strange that I have questions? I am sorry, I was not trying to be rude. But when told to worship something, is it unreasonable to ask how?'

Perhaps she's insane ... That would be interesting. They think they're worshipping Azura, but it is Sheogorath instead?
