Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morning Star Parade
Posted by: Loranna Jan 20 2005, 08:31 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and
discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using
this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look
http://sekkairc.freewebpage.org/.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna:
Loranna is currently in Ald Sotha with most of the party. She has just had a
bad day, first having been told that Jazbet had been killed by Winged
Twilights, then discovering that Lord Wyrloc intended to kill her, then being
saved by the still-alive but now blinded and scarred Jazbet. She is currently
talking with Allie about what has happened and is about to learn why glowing blue
eyes are a bad thing

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Jan 20 2005, 12:15 AM)
"They don't know, you realize," Skein said.
"The three you killed. They weren't awake; they don't even notice.
In the otherworld they spin and spin and will be spun again into new forms, and
never know your name or even their own names. It's no excuse, for each of us can
awaken - senseless murder is the wrong lesson to take from it - but it's a
consolation."
She seemed to be ignoring his question. Or perhaps she wasn't.
"What would you say I do then?" Arynel began. "No, wait."
The Breton paused.
"What do you mean when you say the otherworld? The void? No, that doesn't
seem quite right, or am I missing something?"

ooc summaries:
Allerleirauh is with Loranna's group at Ald Sotha.
Doll has returned to the main group at Ald Sotha, with a report that the freed
slaves were granted an Imperial charter to found a
Tris is also with the group at Ald Sotha - he's happy, unlike most other
people, with his immediate goal resolved. He's finally spoken to Allerleirauh
again.
Dragon and Skein are at Solunastra Guild house in Daggerfall, talking to
Arynel.
Mirea was last seen rescuing the playwright from his suicidal leap off the
Arena canton by means of a slowfall spell.

QUOTE(Loranna @ Jan 20 2005, 01:14 AM)
Loranna considers, thinking back to what Wyrloc had told her.
" ... Allie, quick Dunmer question," she says. "Right when
Wyrloc put the sword to my throat his eyes changed to a bright blue - is that
some sort of revenge oath-granted ability or something? I've never heard
of a Dunmer doing that before."
" ... As for how much else he said that was lies ... I don't know. I
get the impression he was telling the truth when he said Elysana was pulling
her support from Dres and the King wanted them dead, but then I may just be
reading more into his plot to kill me here."
Allerleirauh's expression froze.
She didn't speak, for a long moment. When she did, she sounded angry.
"I suppose it's the last thing you left us, the final bit of your legacy -
that they are as fickle and changeable and inconstant as you were. And I
thought they could be picked out on sight. Well, Wyrloc had more will than
Loranna, I suppose. This makes things - very annoying."

Loranna looks confused for a moment, but understanding dawns on her face.
" ... It's a mark of one who bowed to her, then," she says. "
... And, apparently, one which can be concealed."
She chooses not to remark about the comment of her will compared to Wyrloc.
" ... All right then. What do we do now?"

"You know," Skein said. "If you will let yourself know. I speak

You cast it all around you, as the General does. When you walk in the gardens

practical, and not metaphysical?"

Outside, the storm seemed to have no intention of lessening.

Teleran: Last we left him he was quite taken with Doll
Teleran was still feeling lightheaded, so he wandered out into the rain to
clear his mind. He watched the lightning streak by overhead, but he still felt
bewitched by the strange girl. He came back and he happened upon a horse. After
he passed the horse and entered Ald Sotha he could make out a small group,
including Loranna. Nearby there was a khajiit who appeared bloodstained and had
vicious scars across his face. He wandered past the group to lean against the
wall and wondered idly whether the horse was brought in for a feast to be held
later.

"You know the task you have set yourself, and it's quite within your
powers, if you concentrate," Allerleirauh said, trying to force her tone
into its usual mildness, though her words insisted on coming out angry.
"Stay with Jazbet. He'll wake blind - which isn't as panic-inducing for a
cat as for a man, he was born that way. But even so. He deserves your company.
He's given a great deal for you."
If Dres Wyrloc had been a follower of Azura - how many other Dres were as well?
The party couldn't stay here much longer. They had to get out of Morrowind
altogether.
She went to care for Wyrloc's horse.

Arynel stepped back and his lips curved into a smile--a sad smile, as from
pondering a dream not quite fathomed.
"I am a fool." The Breton said at last. "I know nothing. It was
fine before, when I was on my own, I had only to live, and that became life.
Now though, I do not know, it's different with other people involved, so
closely to you. When what you do has a direct affect on someone else, and they

His head lowered.
"I am a fool. I know nothing. I thought...I thought maybe you would. Maybe
I'm wrong, I think I have declared myself a fool once again, for coming here. I
apologize, I will take my leave."

Skein put out her hand. She did not raise her voice, but her tone was not one

"You were not alive before. No more than the world existed before Anu and
Padhome divided. That self-contained stillness, the egg-shaped universe -
perhaps this moment was inside it, humming like the rim of a spinning wheel.

when you loose connection with someone who is close to you, for any number of
reasons. Now, if you never grow close to anyone, you will never feel hurt, in

it's unpleasant to lose something, it must be pleasant to have it. No one
mourns the loss of something they didn't care about one way or the other. Is
the pain of loss greater than the pain of having? Ask Tris, if you see him. He
believes he's lost the Void forever. Ask him if he would have rather run and
run with his foppish friends and never found the door that was waiting for him,

The Breton knelt down and grasped Wyrloc corpse under the arms.
Ciel stood watch, a hand idly resting on the pommel of his blade as the others
took care of the body. The knight had been mildly surprised to find another
Breton helping the assorted other survivors to drag the body away. He had
expected most to have fled long ago given the circumstances.
Everything had been quite hectic after they had departed the site of the trial.
This was not going to help. The shrine had been safe enough with its
reputation, or at least it had seemed that way but, those who had given the
oath had made it in.
The dead dunmer’s boot heals scrapped the accumulated dirt on the stone floor.
Two small trails traced their path back deeper into the shrine. They stopped
when they reached a fallen stone slab. The men dumped the corpse face up on the
rock with a single heave. Done with their task, the majority of the helpers
dispersed back to their own affairs. Except for the other breton. He was
leaning over the deceased examining the dead mer’s belongings when he caught
Ciel’s gaze. The man spat and wiped his hands on a clean bit of the bloody
tunic.
“Pity he didn’t do it,” the man said in a bitter tone. He turned on his heel
and walked away, leaving Ciel to his thoughts.

"There is no way to participate in the world that does not involve
participating in the world," Skein said. "Perhaps you should have
been born an Altmer. You spend most of your time writing poetry that can be
understood by no one other than yourself and bemoaning your existence. The
Altmer gods went that way," she said, pointing to the sky. "They're
too good for us here. And what a load of sorry children they are. It's no
wonder Boethiah was able to eat Trinimac whole, there was nothing to him."
She stood up. "Come outside with me a moment."
Outside, in the True Solunastra, the palace was no longer simply a foundation.
It was a beautiful building, ordered and graceful, with a fountain springing in
the center of the great hall. It was like the building the guildhouse in
Daggerfall dreamed of being when it grew up.
"This isn't finished," Skein said. "But already it has new
marvels."
She bent over the water in the fountain, drawing Arynel down beside her.
Within the splash and ripple, pictures formed, flickering glimpses. Skein spoke
a name - a name Arynel knew - and suddenly they were looking at Allerleirauh,
feeding a brindled horse from a nose bag. The other people at the encampment
moved around her. It was hard to see the people, really; what you saw mostly
was the light, trails of light like the trails Arynel saw in the Void. Only
these were different, solid paths of light, with nodes. They stretched out
behind the people and they stretched out before them. Only rarely did anyone
step off a path. Those who did - you could watch them - often jostled each
other, or tripped on the edge of a stair.
"It takes a lifetime to learn to understand what you're looking at,"
Skein said. "And it's dangerous. Sometimes I see the paths now and not the
people at all. Look, though, this is something even a layman can understand.
See how hot these paths are, how bright? See how they fade, when we look
further from Loranna? Though she no longer holds Azura within her, she's still
a node of power. If you go where she is, you will touch and be touched; you
will become legendary, great and compassionate, or terrible and cruel. You have
no path yourself, except the one you leave behind you. But all that light you
gather into yourself, wherever you go. It's like your sword; it can kill or
cure, but it is nothing until you take it in your hand. Psijiics fear it and
hide from it, calling it a distraction, and then send men into the world to try
to bend the flow.
"It's very simple. Near her is the fast moving water. Farther, the slow.
You choose whether to be a hero or a boy in a field chewing on a straw. Perhaps
straws need chewed, you are wiser than I, you tell me."

"I hope to see this place when it is finished." Arynel said.
The Breton took a deep breath, pondering what was said.
"I never wanted to be a hero, only to live, and play a song or two, for my
own ears..."
His voice trailed off.
"I will go back with the others."

Skein slipped her hand in the water, and the images dissolved. In the fountain
were several large, brightly colored fish, which nibbled at her fingers with
toothless mouths.
She had spoken more words today than in the past month all together; now she
was silent again. She bowed, and stepped back inside the guildhouse, picked up
her book, and began reading again where she had left off.

A green light appeared in Ald Sotha, shimmered, and vanished. Arynel appeared

He sat silently, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Illidan sighed in his state of peacefulness, obviously, he was
having a nice dream.
Meanwhile, in Illidans' dream......world?-
"Hm, was it as good for you as it was for me....?" asked Illidan, his
tone rather relaxed, he was laying in a large bed, the soft fabrics covering
his partner up rather efficiently, "Yeeeesssssss, goooood
inndeeeed....."
"Why are you talking so slow?" He asked, nudging the woman underneath
the blankets with his palm, "I no taaalllllk slooooowww...." She
replied. Illidan sterned his brow and said "answer me!" ripping the
blankets off of his partner, his eyes popped open and he jumped out of the bed.
"Y-your a sload!?" He yelped, jumping around on his tippy toes
shaking his hands wildly "Blegh! I-I feel *so* unclean!" He ran over
to the cupboard and began searching for some soap....anything to wash the
mental filth off of his body.
Finding nothing, he immediatly sprinted outside into the streets, finding even
more sloads wandering about "Puuuut some cloooothessss onnn
straaaaangeeer...." mumbled one, turning his face away from Illidan
"Ahhhh! I'm in that place......the place where the sloads live!"
"Thras" interrupted one of them, "Yes! that's the one!" He
cried, running around the streets frantically searching, the sloads around him
answering with a hiss. To escape the sloads he jumped into a nearby river, only
to find a younger Sload in it's adolescent stage.
It jumped out, wrapping it's tentacles around Illidan, constricting him tightly
and pulling him further underneath the water. He let out a gargled screamed and
his body went limp, at this stage Illidan awoke from his nightmare with a large
yell, sweat running quickly down his face.

The Most Curious of Events
I was sat in a bar minding my own business, as I often do, when
the strangest of circumstances began to unfold before me. The
following is that story, as best I can remember it.
The streets of the Imperial province were dark with something more
than night. Clouds were visible in the sky above, and stars beyond
that kept themselves hidden from the nightmares below. A woman lay
dead in the road outside a house. The place was quieter than the
most serene of the high mountains.
I had no horse that day; it was still suffering from the injuries it had
taken a week before that, and a good friend of mine was caring for it
as I took a routine trip into the town some miles away. The walk was
long, and the wares I carried to market did nothing to make the
journey anymore enjoyable.
I reached the market with little or no time to spare, and even
having left early in the morning, the night was drawing in as I got to
the stalls that lined the streets. Some vendors had packed up and
left. One showed no sign of leaving yet. I decided that the lady
behind the canopy was the only chance I had of getting any kind of
money out of the trip that day. She took almost half of the many
bottles and items I carried, not for the usual money, but anything
seemed good after the unfortunate way the day had been so far.
The lady's name was Emerylia. She was a local girl, short blonde
hair and clothes that would have suited any princess, albeit only for
casual wear. She agreed, after a good deal of discussion, to meet me
at her local drinking establishment, where she promised to sort me
out a place to stay the night. I was very appreciative, as you can
imagine, and I found comfort in the thought that I could probably sell
the remaining contents of the satchel the day later. The night came in
quickly as I helped her pack the stall back away, and a quick kiss was
all it needed for her to slip away from my grasp.
The empty streets of the night an hour later show no sign of the
promise as they had before. Now they just run with the blood of a girl
I hardly had a chance to know. And it's all my fault.
Sitting in that bar, that bustling traders bar, was a gentle and
relaxing way to recover from a hard days' events. A glass of the local
brew and a warm meal could have been enough. But she had
promised me a bed, and the kiss had promised me a thousand
things more. I waited only a short time for her to arrive, and when she
did, she wore a handmade dress like none I had ever seen. We
talked, as people do, and we grew closer and closer. I doubted I
would ever see that horse of mine again, for it was all I had to return
to when I left this place. I almost felt that the town was my new home.
It could have been home, if it wasn't for the drunken anger that so
many tired traders in one place can possess. It took only a few drinks
and a burly dozy fool to fall on my friend, to spoil it all. Emerylia
wasn't so hurt, at least, not the way I was. The fight carried on like
nothing had happened. I watched in amazement as the louts
damaged and destroyed everything in their way, not even looking to
see if it was their mother they were stepping on.
I took a swing at the biggest of them and he fell still for the first
time that night. That was, until his friends picked him back up and
took a good look at me. I could not begin to tell them what their
problem was before they could make a dive straight for me. Emerylia,
not for the first time, pulled me from out of their reach and out of the
bar. She was stunned and scared, I could see it in her eyes. I was
seething in anger, and had no desire to run. I only did run to keep up
with her.
An angry mob is too hard to escape in these narrow and dark
streets. We soon lost each other, and I ran the same as before,
further and further from the roar that sounded out behind me. That
was, until I stood at the city limits with nothing but the shirt I was
wearing when I came to this cruel place and none of the wares or
money I had been carrying up to that moment. I had even lost her.
I began to walk back, drawn to carry on further back by the growing
silence. They had left, but for what reason, I did not know. I traced
my steps, the darkness of the night only serving to make my feet
move faster along the cobbled stones. The alleys and streets wove a
labrinthine trail back to the market square. The stars didn't dare show
themselves.
I was the only reason for her to be killed there like that. And now
there's no justice, just mob justice. For city guards to find a person
like me next to a dead girl I can't leave behind, there need be no
evidence but witness testimonial. A lonely housewife would never
blame a mob she knew her husband to be part of. The whole town
was against me. I had no chance. I should have run, as fast and as
far away as possible.
I didn't leave her. Not until they took her away to be buried out in
the fields not so far from my old, dying horse. Now only the quill given
to me by a friendly warden and the paper that they use to write
convictions are my chance to prove any sort of innocence. I don't
know if I'll get out of here. I here the locals don't like to see accused
murderers get away. The accusation is enough for them.
Well, what can I say, but please, don't pray for me. Just for her.

Ald Sotha
Loranna maintains her vigil over the sleeping Jazbet, humming softly to him as
she had once hummed to Sen-Yedda, in the days before the baby had been taken
from her womb. The ashskinned Nord's lips were curled into a sad smile.
She was starting to get used to the idea that Jazbet was blind; the thought of
it still made tears come to her eyes but the grief was settling a bit, becoming
a part of the multitude of things she had caused to go wrong with which she'd
now have to live, and hopefully someday remedy. She hopes Jazbet need not
endure anything worse than the loss of his eyes, though she realizes with a bit
of embarrassement that she doesn't know him well enough to predict how he'll
take his new condition.
... Then again, he had managed somehow to find his way here, so ...
Loranna pauses in her humming long enough to wipe the stray tears from her
eyes; had she been this emotional even before becoming Azura's Incarnate? Well,
as a girl tears had sometimes helped her survive, earning her food and shelter
when otherwise she'd not have had any, and there had been times on the road
with her father Gram when he had been asleep and she sat watching over him,
crying quietly over ... hrn, several things, now that she thinks on it ...
Maybe she had always been a tearful girl; even happy moments from her days
before Azura were marked with tears, she ponders. She wonders if she'll always
be like this; it seemed at least fairly likely, though she suspects that
somewhere along the way the tears would dry up, at least a little ...
She wonders for a moment if the mother of Sen-Yedda should be so emotional all
the time, before she ends up answering herself in a reproachful tone:
... You really think Allie's going to want you raising Sen-Yedda? You're
still nothing more than a stupid barmaid in her eyes; you're just no longer a
stupid barmaid with Azura lurking inside her.
Loranna frowns. ... No; that's not true ... she's angry because the
situation's gotten worse instead of better like we all had hoped and she can't
really figure out what to do about it. No one likes feeling helpless ...
Loranna looks down at Jazbet again, taking his hand in hers.
... You had bad parents, you've never had any real good role model for being
a good parent, you took Azura inside you, you're overly emotional, and you know
next to nothing about raising babies, let alone babies with divine parentage.
You've known this all along, and Allie knows it too. Heck, for a while neither
you nor she thought you'd survive giving birth to Sen-Yedda; Allie probably had
plans for Sen-Yedda's upbringing from the day we figured out who her father
was.
That last statement was probably an exaggeration, but Loranna doesn't care ...
... One thing at a time, Lor. Watch over Jazbet, help him adjust. None of us
can stay here long; as soon as everyone's able we need to get moving, so help
Jazbet reach that point. Keep in mind you've got a lot of people who either
want you dead or else don't really see why you should keep on living and try
not to wander off with people you don't know too well next time.
... I'm sorry Sen-Yedda; hopefully your birth into this world will be less
hectic than my recent rebirth.
Loranna resumes her humming for Jazbet, holding his hand gently in hers and
watching over his sleep.

needed privacy.

He looked out across the marsh-like area, spitting in disgust that they had to

Loranna resumes her humming for Jazbet, holding his hand gently in hers and
watching over his sleep.
It wasn't dark, exactly. There was blackness, but also red and blue streaks in
a sea of gray. Figures and scenes would appear to him, some blurred to be
unrecognizable, some very specific but so alien to be incomprehensible.
They were his visions he had had all his life. The touch of the fortune-teller,
a term he much preferred to mystic or seers, because he didn't take it very
seriously. But now, they were all he had. Jazbet didn't know what had happened
to him.
He remembered the coming of Azura. He remembered her ordering the crowd to bow
down before her. He remembered the Winged Twilights, and the pain.
The Khajiit couldn't tell if he was awake or asleep. He saw the same things as
he would in a dream or a vision, but ... he felt an ache that ran all over his
body ... and a hand in his ... and he heard a humming that was not part of any
vision ...
And he knew Loranna was near him. He knew the feel of her hand, and her scent.
He tried to open his eyes, but failed.
Instead he spoke, and his voice was a little weak but still his own: "I
told you you wouldn't die, didn't I?"

Loranna feels hesitant to say or do too much just yet; likely Jazbet needed

She wondered if Jazbet understood yet what was happening, and if Loranna would

Loranna wanted someone else to do it.
She felt like crying, not from pity, but in the same way she felt like crying

all beautiful things be broken and smashed underfoot, always?
She brought a bowl of stew and bread. And she banished any hint of tears from

It would be easier to show Jazbet his appearance if Loranna still had her
ability to send thoughts into the minds of others, Allerleirauh thought. She
wanted to laugh at herself for missing Loranna's telepathy. Loranna was
maimed now too, wasn't she? But then, who wasn't maimed, in one way or another?
"You do look roguish with a blindfold," Allerleirauh said lightly.

There are no wounds, just the lids of your eyes, which hang strangely because

She took him at his word, and went back to what she had been doing. She
remembered a moment from her childhood - one of the defining moments of her
life. She had fallen from a tree, and hurt herself, and lay screaming while her
father rushed to her, white-faced with horror. He had put his arm around her
and said, You're all right, you're all right. And she had said, I think my leg
is broken!
Yes, her father had said. Your leg is broken. But you're all right.
And in that moment of railing inside her own head at her father's absurdity,
she had learned something which had never since left her. Jazbet would be fine.

Jazbet kept eating while he heard Allerleirauh's words. She was being kind --
it was not smooth skin. They were definitely wounds. Still, her words were
sweet medicine. Inspiring curiosity wasn't nothing new to him. He took pleasure
in being handsome, certainly. It was no more deserved that another man who was
born with strength or intelligence or wealth. Just simply one of life's
advantages blessed on some. And like a strong man made suddenly weak, he knew
it would take some time before he truly understood his loss and dealt with it.
For now, he ate and watched the visions in his eyeless heads.

obvious good looks. He seemed optimistic, good-natured - the sort of fellow
Tris had always prided himself on being. The kind who wasn't too proud to take
orders. The kind who always got stepped on.
"We seem safe enough for the moment, in this new and startling
post-Loranna/Azura definition of 'safe'. The Queen's not here. I want to talk
to Jazbet later, find out if Wyrloc was telling the truth about her pulling out
of Morrowind completely.
"I talked to the General. She says we are both under the protection of the
Guild, as far as she's concerned, and that Leseth had better watch his step.
I'm not sure how much of that is bravado but probably not much. She can't be
everywhere at all times, but she does know the Void - and Leseth can't hide
from her if he makes her angry."
Tris hesitated. He wanted to say more about his meeting with the General, but
the meeting with her was like new skin after the bandage is removed from a
wound; so tender that even the touch of air is too much. She had been loving,
as he'd expected, had embraced him and kissed him and yelled at him for not
coming home for New Life. And then she'd been harsh. Which he should also have
expected. He realized that the General he held in his mind's eye wasn't much
like the real one.
No. He wasn't ready to talk about it yet.
"She said we are both welcome at Solunastra. It's in Daggerfall. You'd be
as safe from Elysana as can reasonably be expected. Until - we decide what to
do next."

(Near the Border of Elswyer:)
Benjam Crest was happy he'd brought his youngest son along with him on this
trip. He'd taken cartloads of fine wood from their home in Colovia to the keep
at Riverhold a hundred times, and it was usually his eldest son that helped him
drive the cart. Now that son was old enough to mind the business back home, and
his youngest must learn the simple trade of hauling wood to the Khajiit.
Actually, most of Benjam's wood went to Imperial craftsmen, but it was still
Khajiit that eventually sat on, ate off of, or stored belongings in furniture
made from his wood.
He passed the time telling his young son all about the Khajiit. They had yet to
meet any this close to the border, and his son was anxious for his first look.
The boy was very excited when their cart crested a hill and a group of what
were obviously Khajiit could be seen heading their direction. Some looked just
like men to the boy's eyes, at this distance, but there were two that made him
gasp. Like the cat they had back in their barn, but as big as their ox, and
yellow as the sun.
As the heavy cart made its way down the hill, the Khajiit stopped and waited on
them. When they had made it to the bottom of the hill, Benjam halted the cart.
The Khajiit were blocking the road.
The young boy gave his father a serious frown. "You lied to me
daddy," he said in a reproachful tone. "YOU said Khajiit had YELLOW
eyes, not BLUE!"
Benjam never answered his son.

Summary
Reichi- is at Ald Soth on a slab of Daedric stone outside of it...
Dar'Var- off at the island the slaves set up a city. Prolly smoking skooma and
trying to score with some Khajiit babes.
Tarenen - is on the warpath. After his men were slaughtered by reportly, three
werewolves. One of them susposedly white, according to a dying man found at the
scene. Tarenen naturally, assumed it to be Reichi.
Ald Sotha
Reichi finally moved from his position on the slab of stone outside the shrine.
The storm was upon them now, that would be apparent to anyone. However, through
the clouds, time was hard to discern. But Reichi knew it had to be night.
He saw three figures aproaching the shrine. Towards him. He recognized one. The
others were incased in black armor. Made faceless by their helmets. The one
Reichi recognized was a Breton man, with long dark hair that oddly wasn't
matted by the rain. But his black armor, like the other's, did show that it was
being soaked in the rain. Ice blue eyes burned with cold fire as they stared at
Reichi intensely.
"YOU WILL DIE, WOLF!" Cried Tarenen, the Breton. Reichi didn't
move. His silvery white hair was matted to his head. His crimson red wolf like
eyes stared back at Tarenen. The rags that were netch armor sagged off his
form. The Dagger of Senses rested in his belt, the Daedric shortblade a sheath
of it's own. "You and whatever others you are hiding in this damned
country!"
"I tire of this hunt. We end it here. I will not play the prey any
longer." Reichi said in response.
Tarenen grimaced, drawing a scroll that glittered with enchantment. Before
Reichi could react, it was cast. Reichi was unharmed to his knowledge, but a
white wispy mist surrounded him.
A Soultrap.
"Arkay's blessing doesn't expand to Hircine's Hounds. I thought you knew
that." Tarenen, said grinning almost to wide to fit his face. "I will
enjoy making a plaything of your soul."

Loranna had become very quiet when Allerleirauh had broken the
news to Jazbet; her own words for telling him the very same thing sat
three-fourths formed in her mind, uneeded now that Allie had gone and done the
deed for her.
... Loranna remained very quiet when Allie and Jazbet spoke; she didn't want to
open her mouth and let the wrong words out.
Instead, she simply thought them to herself:
... What? Was waiting until he had some food in his stomach before breaking
the news to him the wrong decision too?
When Allie left, Loranna rubbed her temples. Being annoyed at Allie for jumping
in to say something she was working on saying herself struck her as foolish at
this moment. There were too many other, more important things to worry about.
Still ...
Loranna looks over to Jazbet and says quietly " ... I'm sorry love
..."

Loranna embraces Jazbet, restng her head on his shoulder.
You say that so easily; it's more than that though isn't it? she thinks
to herself. You just saw one of your people's patron goddesses show a side
no one expected and lost so much; you don't just have scars on your skin, do
you love ...
Maybe Allie had been right in just coming out and telling him; maybe she had
been right to at least give him a few moments to get some food in his stomach,
talk a little more ... she couldn't tell right now and in this moment she
stopped caring about that.
"Maybe not," she says, smiling sadly. " ... You're strong though

Queen Elysana sat within a pavillion which had been unloaded from the last
remaining ship of her fleet. Guards had been posted all around the camp, but so
far the Azurites had not shown themselves. Perhaps the torrential rain had
driven them all inside, regardless of their newfound powers.
The rain battered the canvas walls and the lightning sent odd shadows playing
across the inside of the spacious tent.
One of the shadows refused to leave after the lightning passed.

... I'm sorry love; I'm not right in the head yet ...
Dagoth tilted his skeletal head a bit.
'No need to apologize. You are still getting used to not having the abilities
Azura gave you. You will readjust in time...'

Elysana gasped and turned. "Yes, I am. I am making

(The shore, near Vivec:)
"Yes. I believe we are headed in the same direction, you and I."
The dark figure took a heavy step forward. The wind howled outside.
"I intend to find the Eidolon. Tell me, who knew of its existence? Who
knew it's purpose?"

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Jan 20 2005, 09:01 PM)
"It's my observation, at least in Vvardenfell, that the
Houses do what they like, and the Imperials steal what they can, and Helseth
provides a needed buffer between the two. He's nasty enough to understand
Dunmer and mercenary enough to understand Imperials, and if you were without
him, you'd collapse under a tide of woes."
She paused. What she was about to say next was cruel, and Jazbet had suffered a
great deal for one day. She said it anyway.
"Jazbet... are you sure you still are a member of House Dres?"
"We should collapse -- we need to start over," Jazbet began to
reply, and then stopped, thinking about Allerleirauh's second question. His
face whitened. "Because I've killed my brother ..?"

"Interesting.." Tarenen said, gazing at Reichi, Ebony
blade drawn. Reichi had transformed, his former netch leather armor sagged from
his now larger and more muscular lupine form. He didn't look as big as he
normally did, as his white fur had been matted to his skin by the rain.
Reichi however had taken a different approach to a fight this time. He had
drawn his weapons. Tarenen smirked. "Smarter than the average
Werewolf."
He raised his free hand and signaled the other hunters to attack. They might
have known he was using them to gauge Reichi's strength alone, but they
attacked anyways.
The first to reach Reichi learned that while his neck protecting plate was
designed to keep Werebeasts from tearing his throat out with their jaws, it did
not help much against a Daedric blade being driven by aforementioned Werebeast
into it. The hunter fell, Reichi clumsily removed his blade and attempted to
block the other hunter's sword.
The Dagger of Senses and the Hunter's blade locked. Tarenen watched, outwardly
appearing calm. The second hunter fell as Reichi drove the Daedric Shortsword into
his armpit. Reichi dislodged the blade and turned to Tarenen, who was grinning.
Reichi was confused as to why until he felt something slash into his back.

*Vivec*
Helseth looked at the city of Vivec. None of the cultists had made a move, even
with the troops in the area. Helseth knew that there wasn't much the troops
could do if swarmed by Winged Twilights, since only a few had weapons that
could affect them.
What the King needed were some spell casters. Maybe the Telvanni could assist.
There was also an item of interest waiting for him back in Ebonheart.
"Hold your ground the best you can." said Helseth to Karrod.
Helseth headed back to Ebonheart with a small group of soldiers to try an
muster up support.

"The sun seldom shines on a retreat," said the Queen with a
misleading smile. "The storm will give us cover. But please, don't tip us
over, or I'll be displeased."
Twenty soldiers boarded the boat. The rest of the army had been sent on to wait
for a fleet to pick them up, up north. Elysana looked to the shore and saw the
playwright Baloth-Kul.
"You," she said. "Come on aboard."
"Really?" said the Dunmer, scrambling on. He had been trying to
persuade her of the advantages of being his patron, but she had not been overly
receptive. Probably still sore about him destroying her sail. But this was a
nice sign.
"Of course," the Queen said. "I'd like to hear more about this
amusing play about my stepbrother while we sail ... And who knows? We might run
out of food, and you look like good eating to me."
Baloth-Kul touched his belly. Another fat joke. How much was he expected to

Reichi slammed into the ground and felt a armoured boot on his
now bleeding back. He looked up to see the man he had slain not but a few
secounds ago starring down at him. Raising his blade.
"Telekinisis is a very fun skill when your skilled at it." Tarenen
explained. Answering Reichi's unspoken question. He was manipulating them with
Telekinisis. Like puppets.
"Goodbye, Reichi Sari." Tarenen grinned, but as the blade came down
Reichi twisted his body and flung the puppeteered hunter's body off him. He
rose his feet, as the other hunter, simplilarly controlled flew at him. Reichi
grabbed his shortsword and began blocking the blows, making counterstrikes when
he found a opening.
It made no difference. Everytime he dismembered one the pieces continued to
fight as if never removed. Actually, they fought better, no longer confined to
normal limits.
Luckily for Reichi, endurance was one of the qualities of a Wolf that carried
to a Werewolf. However, he was beginning to falter. Many slashes now adorning
his body, his fur was now soaked with his and the hunter's blood now. His
vision was blurring.
Reichi was cursing colorfully, mentally of course. Saying curses aloud usually
resulted in a barking noise. The White Werewolf bristled and growled, slashing
at the dismembered corpses one last time before charging at Tarenen.
Kill the puppeteer and the puppets all fall..

QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Jan 21 2005, 01:04 PM)
Lliryth had been waiting for the king's return with unsurprising
patience. The Altmer was cold to the point that his subordinates called
him 'The Dwemer Machine" behind his back. They might as well have
called him that to his face. Provided they were competent, Lliryth did
not care what his men thought of him.
In simple robes, marked with an absent-minded inkstain or two, the mystic came
to the King and bowed.
"What was it that you wanted me to examine, Your Majesty?" he asked.
"And what do you want to know about it?"
"I was sent this gift from a, err, friend. It looks to be of Dwemer
origin, however, I have no idea as to it's purpose." Helseth led Lliryth
to the open crate.
"Have you ever seen something like this before?" Asked the King.
"I will not risk trying to activate just yet."

The mystic looked at the device, and took his time. He did not offer guesses
merely to look clever. Helseth was a patient man who wanted his answers to be
correct not rushed.
The thing was roughly cyclindrical with ridges of hexagons encircling it. The
surface was metallic, but worn, old. It was not ebony. Mithril perhaps.
His first comment was non-commital: "A very rare gift, Your Majesty."
He passed his hands over it, casting a spell, and frowned. Lliryth gripped one
of the ridge and pulled hard, tilting it on its side.
"Don't worry," the mystic said. "It will not be activated by
accident."
Casting another spell brought forth tiny blue etchings along the surface, just
faint marks that lasted but a second before fading away.
"It is Dwemer, but not entirely Dwemer," Lliryth said.
"Rourken Dwemer adjustments to a much older design ... Much older ...

I know where to look ... I take it you want to know very soon?"

The Shortsword impaled Tarenen as if naught but the armor was
there. The Breton looked up for a moment. Visibly shocked. Then, he faded away,
the empty suit of armor clattered to the ground, behind him Reichi could hear
the other hunter's now definatly dead bodies drop as well.
From the suit of armor an abnormally large black cat skittered out, it had some
sort of golden collar with a peice of ebony in it around it's neck. Reichi
stood, wondering what the fudge just happened.
The abnormally large black cat turned, and gazed at Reichi, it had the same ice
blue eyes as Tarenen. A flicker of the image that Reichi had come to know as
Tarenen apeared beside the cat. "Illusions can be very helpfull to the
Vocally challenged, such as myself, as they not only plant the illusion of a
image, but sound, and scent, among other things." the image said. Then
faded. The Cat, which Reichi geussed was some sort of Khajiit, likely a Alfiq,
and was the true Tarenen, teleknietically brought the Ebony blade to himself.
The collar of the cat glittered with enchantment.
Thats how he maintained the illusion so long. The collar must have a magick
restoring effect...that, or it IS the source of the magick. Reichi thought.
He didn't have much time to think a second later when Tarenen 'swung' the Ebony
Katana at him. The blade slashed shallowly across his chest, and Reichi felt
some of his life drain away. Regaining his footing he tried to attack. Only to
be struck again.
"Don't just stand there Wolf. For one who slew so many Hunters. You sure
suck at this." Tarenen mocked, the words were a illusion of speach. It
wasn't really said aloud, but it was said, in a way. Reichi growled again,
infuriated.

The Inner Sea
Elysana's boat headed east to avoid Ebonheart and skirt the coastline before
turning north into the Sea of Ghosts. Elysana thought of Morrowind and what
would become of it. The rules to the game had changed it seemed. It was hard to
tell if she was losing or winning.
The storm rocked the boat. The Queen was happy that Baloth-Kul had accompanied
her. He was occasionally witty, such as now, bent over the prow, vomiting
copiously.

Reichi watched the shape he now vaguely recognized as a the
Ebony Blade streak towards him in an attempt to impale him. The Werewolf
stepped to the side and let it sink into his arm as he grasped the blade. He
yanked it out and rushed at Tarenen.
Only to feel an invisible force slame him into a tree. The Ebony Katana flying
off into the distance. Planting itself a few feet from the entrance of Ald
Sotha. Reichi looked up feabily as Tarenen advanced on him.
"Now, i take my prize," the Khajiit said. It appeared to be assured
in it's win. One of the Hunter's blade's rose above Reichi. The Werewolf feably
grasped something in the grass nearby.
"Whruck Yhou..." Reichi attempted at cursing before raising the
Halberd. He saw Tarenen's face one last time before the Khajiit was engulfed in
flame. Reichi kept using the halberd's enchantment till it ran out. At which
point all that was left of his opponent was a blackened smoking corpse.
And people wonder why im not terribly fond of cats...

The sea was thrashing wildly on the steep shore, as if trying to grab at the

"Helseth has more than weather to fear." Arynel said. "If there
is anyone you care for near Vivec City, I suggest you give them your last

The Breton paused, a serious expression on his face.
"We have to go. Now."

The old wolf stared at Arynel and started to growl. The sound was drowned out

"First you find those that aren't lost, Breton, THEN you find the others.
"I've been saying this for some time, but it's about time you rode."
He reached down and grabbed Arynel's wrist and, even with cracked ribs, easily
hauled him up onto the infuriated horse.
The old wolf was already halfway back to Ald Sotha as Aricyn spurred the mount

Dante's eye burst open, he found himself drenched in water yet
again, Why does his feel familiar?... he thought, coughing rather loudly
as he ragained his posture, "I should probably get inside out of this
storm."
He wandered around the ruins, every now and then he'd slip and lose his balance
in the murky water he was forced to run through. Eventually though, he found
the entrance of the shrine, where a large amount of people were now running
from, alot of them screaming in terror, almost immeadietly he recognised a few
of the members of his group, and joined them in fleeing the ruins.

Solin stared blankly from resin eyes. Hot ash flew around the
interior of the chamber. It would have burned but for the armor. The mer
couldn’t recall having put it on, but he wore it regardless. A mirror sheen
still shone from the glass floor despite Solin’s boot prints and the now
accumulating ash. He heard a fracture…
The Dunmer’s eyes opened as if he had just blinked momentarily. He was awake. A
pair of red eyes shone out from underneath the hood of a robed figure that
stood over him.
“Quickly,” he said rising to his feet and taking the figure’s hand.
Then he heard Allerleirauh and set to work.
Solin threw a heavy cloak over the simulacrum. They were leaving the shrine, no
one could recognize it. Flinging his pack over his shoulder and grabbing
another which was loaded with supplies in his spare hand, he had seized the
metal mer’s again with the other, he followed the others out of the ruins.

He had a strange feeling of being watched, and whirled around quickly.
No one was there. But it was no relief, for the feeling still lasted.
‘Your mind is going,’ he said aloud, trying to find comfort in the sound of his

"Yes, I suppose the issue of Sen-Yedda will be taken up by
the Clergy. My profession as a warrior lies in her defense. If
Telasero is your destination, I will offer once again our water-walking
services for an easterly path. It is still possible to travel through the
Fields, but it will be difficult. Either way, we will fly."
"I agree," Allerleirauh said. "And I recommend also that my
alchemy skills be put to the service of the group, so that we may travel
swiftly and without fatigue. If we do not pass too near Mzahnch, we should have
few problems travelling entirely over water."

The Mages Guild, Wayrest
Horror paled Brevard Dimatos’s face as he feverishly tried to think of
something, anything to do. He could do the sign of Recall, of course! Where had
he set his Mark? Oh, yes, of course, this very library, down near the stacks on
necromancy, which were a merry inferno now. Classic scenario: the frying pan or
the fire?
There was a chance, and he took it. He made the sign of Recall, and appeared on
the floor, his already broken arm in the fire.
He screamed and ran blind through the smoke.

Aricyn listened to the talk of waterwalking and flying to their destination. He
was glad he was still planning to head for Ebonheart. He wouldn't be able to
join the magic-using group in any case.

"If we can make it to the mainland, I have a house there," Jazbet
said. 'It is not large, but there is a lot of property, and it is
well-fortified.'

There was a noise like a flag whipping in the wind, and the man was caught up
from the flames within a huge black cloak. He was crushed by cold metal arms,
and his flaming robes were suffocated and extinguished.
"You will not die yet, Brevard Dimatos.
The old wizard felt his left leg snapped like a twig.
"You have not yet answered my question. Where is that which the queen unearthed?"

The smoke curiously did not travel under the door to alert the other members of
the Mages Guild that their library was burning down. It was fanned by Bosriel’s
unseen hand back into the room. They continued to slumber soundly,
“Please, I don’t want to die,’ Dimatos whimpered, still more in fear than pain.
‘I don’t know what happened to the Eidolon. Guards of Wayrest came to claim it,
saying the Queen had need. I objected – I told them we had not finished our
study of it … Please … I am telling the truth …”

Gnaar Mok - a ship to the mainland - and from there to your estate. Do all
agree?"

Solin says nothing. He eyed Jazbet.
After a moment has passed, he nods his consent. The plan will do for the time
being.

"Excellent, if we're in agreement, then let's move
posthaste. I'll have my soldiers prepare the spells, if everyone gets ready to
pass through the bay."
Maltne immediately gave orders to situate along the eastern shore of what had
been Ald Sotha. All schooled in necessary bits of magicka, the Armigers began
to meditate on the beach, arms outstretched. The hole of Magnus seemed to
contract to a small degree, as they summoned ridculous amonts of its power.
Through concentration, pain, and clenched teeth, the magicka transferred to
their fingertips. After a number of minutes, they were ready to cast the spell,
lasting for perhaps two hours. The armigers, kneeling on the beachhead,
breathed a sigh of relief.

Leseth's bearhug on the man did not lessen.
"I believe you," he said into the wizard's ear.
"Your queen did not call for it. Under who's orders did the guards
come?"

Loranna had been hussling along with Allie, reflecting on the benefits of
regular excersice - something she mentally noted to start including in her
normal routine, once they all got out of this mess and could establish one.
"Agreed," Loranna says, brushing her hair from her face.

'I'm lucky I restocked my store of ptions before Vivec became
overrun by Azurites.' He thought as he made his way to the hill that the
greatest number of those who had escaped the collapse of Ald Sotha were. 'Or
else I wouldn't have gotten out of there alive.'
He looked back at where the shrine had once stood, 'What manner of god would do
such a thing? Perhaps Mehrunes took offence to our use of his shrine, or maybe
Sheogorath decided it was in the way of where he wished to plant a cane, to
grow into a tree, to provide wood for a farmers hut in a few thousand years. Or
perhaps Azura was not nearly so well banished as I had thought, and tried to
kill us.'
Turning back to the people on the hill he climbed to them and listened to their
plans. 'We need to move now,' he thought, while in his mind he saw a plague of
Azurites covering the land and filling the waters, blue eyes glowing with
hatred for all those who stood here, wishing to spill blood in the name of
their mistress.

He helped Jazbet down from the restless horse, and mounted himself.
"I will not miss the ship," he added with a smile.

Leseth sniffed the man, as if smelling for a lie.
"I believe you," he said again.
"It is sad that you were not content with the dark, Brevard Dimatos.
Sometimes the light reveals things best left unseen."
A huge, bearlike hand emerged from the cloak, and ebony encased fingers wrapped
around the man's skull.
Leseth held the man firmly out into the fire, and listened to him scream.
Before he left, he deliberately tipped over a tall iron candelabra that stood
in the burning library.
