In the tradition of the Rest and Reflections Hall used at the end of the Judgement of Vivec epic, I'm making this epilogue thread for anyone who wishes to ask about something in the ball, discuss issues that came up, comment on favorite scenes, or just help themselves to the Fist of Harg's Homemade Eggnog and Biscuits happy.gif

For myself, once more - to everyone who played, love you and thanks a bunch. This was a true blast, and it's gonna take me a week to recover
smile.gif

Now then ... the topic's open. Speaky speaky!

I must send my sincerest thanks to everyone involved...this was my first major RPing session. smile.gif

Luv you all!

I'd first and foremost like to thank EVERYONE who was involved and participated. I'd also like to thank the daM doG for the spice and atmosphere he gave to the thread. It was almost like wandering about in a Tamrielic version of an HP Lovecraft tale. A real treat for sure smile.gif

And especially I'd like to thank Loranna for doing this and making it possible. It took alot of effort and for that I am very grateful
bowdown.gif

And last but not least, I'd like to thank Attrebus for maintaining the peace and being one of those "cool cops"
laugh.gifJust kiddin.. you're still a bad cop 24.gif.

*clears his throat and straightens himself out*

Oh, and hopefully we can do this again between Xmas and New Years. It was alot of fun and I'd like to do it again
fing05.giftwirl.gif

And the next event will have alot of swashbuckling action if I can do anything about it so bring your swords and ditch the silly lil tassles these city folk bind their arms with...

(edited for obscene use of emoticons... none were hurt in the original post however.
I promise)

I’m just proud as can be that the TES series has brought together such a bunch of smarties who can get into a character and roll.

Thank you all. I’m in crunch mode on a game right now (no, not Oblivion), so this has been a welcome diversion I only wish I had more time to participate in. I was here probably more often than you realized, just lurking. Special thanks (oh, Oscar speech, great) to Loranna for organizing this, and my proxy, Nelecar. What a great mix with all of you.

And for Attrebus, with whom I had the longest PMs as he went to the Mages Guild and into the woods:

"Amidst the mists and coldest frosts
With barest wrists and stoutest boasts
He thrusts his fists against the posts
And still insists he sees the ghosts."

I'm so glad Tedders PMed me over this, or I'd have never recieved Loranna's PM, and Nel would never have received his striking revelation over the nature of magick. I extend a special thanks to Julianos for creating the Elder Scrolls, a special thanks to Tedders for being so cool and special thanks to all who've participated! You've all made this a blast, and I hope we can get an even funner one in December for New Life! smile.gif

I would have liked to have been around a lot more, but I did enjoy what little time I spent with all of you.

Let's have a round of applause for Loranna and everyone who made this possible fing34.gif
Although I only participated for one night, it was alot of fun, thanks again!

I'll visit the next ball.

And I'll visit an exorcist before I arrive next time.

Posted by: FireMaster Sep 28 2004, 12:12 PM

That's probably a good idea Raven...anyway. I must say that I was disappointed I was unable to participate as much as I hoped, but such it is with school and such.

It was a pleasure to join you all...and hope to join you again.

Hi everyone,

I wish I could have been more involved in this than I was, my inactivity is mostly due to me being in the wrong time-zone, and always missing the action. For what it is worth, I would have cast feather, or perhaps waterwalk on the crown before it sank. Who knows, it might have worked, and that would have been my "gift" in terms of a revelation
smile.gif

Thanks everyone.

Posted by: One87xe Sep 28 2004, 01:52 PM

...many kudos to Loranna for this opportunity, your all a bunch of, as my neighbors would say "cool peeps"...I'll definitely try to be more involved in the next one...my sincere apologies for devastating a section of the Western Great Bridge, killing lots of Khajiiti and just basically causing chaos...my word for the next RP is "interaction"...see you all in the chatroom...

Not counting the set up thread, we still ended up with a 1069 post long RP, played over the course of a week; hutzah
smile.gif

Anyway, for those who were curious ...

Darius will discover the morning after the RP ended that he had some collectables stolen during the festivities and will dutifully report the thefts, but his heart won't be in chasing the thieves down much. He will make a generous donation to the city, to be used to offer financial support to the families of the bereaved, and over time he will fund several new orphanages and quietly patronize those who work with children. Darius will also become a supporter of any scholars who dedicate themselves to understanding the mysteries of powerful artifacts, particularly Daedric ones, and will turn his collecting interests toward the acquisiton of dangerous artifacts, that they may be studied and kept from causing harm, at least for brief periods of time. In the future, do not be surprised if you see Samson and Harg on journeys throughout Tamriel on behalf of their employer's newfound purpose
smile.gif

There were a couple plots which I had started to introduce which got a little lost in the shuffle; Chairo and FireMaster were investigating one such plot, involving the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of some of Darius's staff. If anyone is interested in exploring these dangling plots, contact me via PM and we'll work something out. You never know where such a plot may someday lead
smile.gif

I do have some plans for further RP adventures, especially ones involving Loranna-Azura; at the moment though I'm gonna take a little time to reflect on what I've learned about running such large RP events here, and try to talk to some people about some of my ideas. I do know that I, myself, am going to avoid running another ball for a while, though I can see Darius being a guest at some of the celebrations other people are thinking of doing
smile.gif

And yes, I definitely think we need to see some more Harg someday; he's too priceless an NPC to only have show up once. The Fist of Harg shall show you all ROLE PLAYING!

Most Esteemed Host Darius,

I apologize for my bard's behavior. He used my coin, and your hospitality and reveled in splendor while you were unentertained, relatively. However, you must admit his voice is melodic and his repetoire is exotic at the least. His actions deserved and elicited punishment, believe me. His pay has been cut and I am keeping on a shorter leash.

I am most grieved at the sudden death of our mutual friend Valerius Maximul. I hope the enclosed flowers make their way to his family in extension of my condolences.

If ever you find yourself near Sutch, my doors are always open to you.

Sincerely,
Lord Jeris, Duke of Sutch

i only posted about 3 times in the entire thing! i just couldnt keep up with the rate of posting! im not used to roleplays going so fast.
i think there is a lot of good roleplaying. this place needs a roleplay forum.

There was one, apparently. Then it got closed down. Spam or some such.

sad.gif

The pace did sometimes get a little fast, in my opinion; with my other message-board based RP we usually enforce a set posting order to ensure that everyone gets a fair chance to act.

Of course, on my other message-board based RP group, we typically only have three or four people at a time working on any particular thread, and we all have AIM, so it's a lot easier for us to enforce a posting order there
smile.gifFor Hearthfire, we had at some points as many as ten to twelve people all active at the same time, with people dropping off or joining in without much warning, and while we had the Javachat going, we never had everyone who was playing be part of the chat.

Still, overall, we managed to run the event fairly well, though I do feel bad about the people who felt they couldn't keep up
sad.gif

As a GM, I feel that I ought to have tried to keep a closer eye on people who seemed to be falling behind, and used PMs to ask them if they were having trouble; I encourage anyone who plays in the future but can't get into the Javachat to use the PM system to hollar out to the GMs and ask them if they can help bring them back up to speed.

Allerleirauh sent out messages to everyone for the last day to inform them that we were wrapping up the event and ask them to show up and finish off their plots. I thank her for making that effort, and I think the idea is one to use in the future; if you know you won't be able to make it for a night or two during the event, let the GMs know so they can plan around that. Also, GMs can try to keep people up to date on plot happenings that they might have missed which would affect their characters.

It would be cool if we could start up some continual role-playing here on the forum; role-playing is part of the appeal of the Elder Scrolls games after all, right?
smile.gifWe'll see how things go.

It was really fast the first couple nights, but it slowed down as time went on.

Oh, much thanks to Allerleirauh for sending out all those PM's.

Yeah, the pace did slow after the first couple of nights, and the weekend!
flamed.gifI began to wonder at some points if people were falling off the face of the world ooo.gif

Fortunately, like any smart GM doing an internet-run RP, I had my trusty Gamecube right on hand to allow me to weather out the rough spots

By Gamecube, I trust you mean PC with TES game on it, right?
happy.gif

You had snacks!!!! What????

It was an interesting RP experience. When it started it seemed like there were half a dozen little stories floating around, with one main story somewhere in the middle. By the end of it, the main story had become the focus, and all the little one's had taken second stage.
It would make an awesome book, play, or whatever.

No; I mean Gamecube with Capcom vs SNK 2 EO; I was going to switch to Soul Calibur 2 and play Nightmare vs Raphael when we got to the duel but until then I needed to counter playing such a sweet, innocent character like Loranna with much throwing of purple flames, tearing at people with my sharp fingernails, and general psychotic laughter. All hail the unstoppable force that is Iori Yagami!

... And yes, Mai too
smile.gif

Oh yeah; I brought honey-roasted peanuts and natural light popcorn and some Doritos and liters and liters of soda, in three flavors. I also had a Dominos on hand for the Tombstone Pizza and there were two roast beef places in walking distance for subs. I had a veritable feast layed out for everyone, I tell you

Yeah, true that; I had hoped that after the big dance with Sheogorath the little plots could take center stage for a bit again, to let people get a chance to shine after Ted and I stole the spotlight. Only thing was, the weekend hit and ...
happy.gif

Then again, I guess it was silly for me to think that having Azura and Sheogorath at the party wouldn't result in some scene-stealing on their parts. This is where I as GM ought to have tried to poke people a bit more, to make sure everyone was able to get their chance to shine; I'll try to be more careful about that in the future.
