Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: High Rock Hijinks

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP.
If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If
you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character
you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's
PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look
http://sekkairc.freewebpage.org/.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna:
Loranna, having been talking with Slyvos in the Mage Guild, has just been
alerted by the sound of a scuffle, and is watching Tos'un and Cycrius be led
off by guards to the local slammer, where they will get to tell their story to
a constable and, hopefully, spend but a short time in jail.

OOC Summary:
Didryn is outside the Mages' Guild in Westcastle, watching Tos'un and
Cyrcius carted off to the local hoosegow, his dead arm beginning to attract
flies. He is searching for a healer to help him with his arm.

Due to Loranna's going all O_O at me, I am clarifying that 'dead arm' is an
expression.

about this, or at least find out how long the new guy's going to be locked up.
If Tris or Rodastyr or Dante happen by, fill them in on what's going on. I'll

Then, she heads off to the local jail.

Something that says a great deal about you
I will take it back to my homeward position
And there I will work to make a potion most delicious
That will make you to set their hearts fluttering
At merely a wink or any such sputtering
The guards said nothing, but shook their heads and dragged him closer to the

Another verse.
In three days time I should be ready
And I will find you and all you must give me
In exchange for such a wonderful treat
Is to drink my sweet potion so that my own eyes may see
The old man and the two guards were out the door, which came to a shut behind
them. The old Breton man could be heard singing outside, but his words were

discuss matters of mutual interest with Loranna, Tris, and company.

After having thanked Loranna for healing his arm, Didryn went and found a place

and it caused his arm to be very numb. He tossed the owner of the inn a few

arm to regain feeling as he slowly drifted off from fatigue.

Stopping by the Mage Guild to pick up anyone waiting over there, Loranna leads

Allerleirauh found that the worst part of having Dragon retire as her seneshal
was that she missed the company. Ciel was conscientious and efficient. Maybe a
bit too conscientious. But she hadn't known him for twenty-two years, she
didn't feel comfortable sitting with him in her undergarments talking as she
got ready for her day. And as polite and reserved as both of them were, it
might take years for them to learn to relax around each other.
Sen-Yedda's golden eyes followed her around the room as she dressed, singing a
nonsense song for the baby. Sen-Yedda had blossomed nicely; recently she had
progressed from tiny whimpers and cries to shrill squeaks of glee, uttered at the
slightest provokation. Allerleirauh suspected her of having her father's sense
of humor; an alarming proposition.
The squeaks escalated to a single, louder yelp - a demand for attention.
"Yes, I hear you, fussy girl," Allerleirauh said, sweeping the baby
into her arms. There was a knock on the door. Ciel was right on time.
"Come in," she called.

at the slightest provokation. Allerleirauh suspected her of having her father's
sense of humor; an alarming proposition.
The squeaks escalated to a single, louder yelp - a demand for attention.
"Yes, I hear you, fussy girl," Allerleirauh said, sweeping the
baby into her arms. There was a knock on the door. Ciel was right on time.
"Come in," she called.
A quiet inaudible word was exchanged outside and then the door swung open
revealing the graying haired Breton knight. He always dressed more formally
than typical for the guild house. Bowing as he stepped into the room, he spoke.
“Fair morning, Lady Allerleirauh,” he said and then gave warm smile to the
baby. “And to you, little Lady Sen-Yedda as well. I believe I have found a
suitable nurse and companion for you.”
He looked back to Allerlierauh.
“They are waiting without, is now a good time to introduce them?”

QUOTE(Arynel @ Apr 7 2005, 11:20 PM)
The door of the tavern came open and in walked a Breton who was
dressed in simple travelers clothes, the hood of his cloak pulled up over his
head. He paused for a moment, scanninng the area, then took a seat near
the back of the tavern.
Loranna had become somewhat better at keeping an eye on who comes and goes in
strange taverns, and notes a familiar-seeming figure enter and sit down near
the back.
She glances over at the figure, eyebrows raised slightly.

Ciel had been interviewing applicants for some time now. But Sen-Yedda found
something to reject in almost all of them. She was picky about smells.

"Excuse me," Tris said, smiling at Loranna and rising.
His first impulse was to go over to the table, bow formally, and ask if they
knew each other. But he decided against it.
"You're the only man I know who can walk into a tavern in the middle of
nowhere and not even blink as he passes his friends. May I sit down? Or did you
come all this way to be alone?"

Tris sat down and beckoned a barmaid over. He was drinking wine, since they

What a day what a day
I find myself to spend today
With nothing so ever on my mind
What a day what a way
To spend an hour or two away
Wondering at what gives a book its spine
And all the lads they go out courting
The pretty lass they come to call
And like a river on by she’s flowing
Gives them a drink but never the fall
What a year and so queer
That I find has brought me here
Placed me in my present situation
Be it fate or mortal states
Of intertwining willpower freights
And all the lads they go out tilling
The pretty girl the hope to find
With her hair all full of lilies
But more than a scent she always denies
What a day what a spay
Digging down into the fray
As we work and break our backs
To make a living as they say
What a day that’s the way
It goes when you want pay
Honestly for your food and your clothes
And all the lads they go out and buy
Diamonds and jewels and pearls
So they can get that pretty lass
To join them for the show

"Jalian," Ciel called. "Please come in so I may introduce you

A moment after the call a young woman stepped through the doorway with a very
young child not far behind her. She was dressed in blue and green dress of
common make and wore a faded purple cloak over her shoulders. She was dark
complected, it was obvious that a Redguard had been a part of her recent family
linage. The boy wore a grey shirt and plain brown trousers. He couldn't be more
than a few years old.
Jalian looked first to Ciel, then to Allerleirauh, then about the room, and
finally returned to her potential employer and the child she held.
"Allerleirauh, this Jalian and Thetri Hawkford, recently of
Cathcastle," Ciel introduced them.
"Milady," Jalian said with a curtsy. Thetri remained silent standing
slightly behind his mother, his eye were firmly locked on Sen-Yedda, wide with
awe.

Loranna listens to the song, facing away from Arynel and Tris for the moment; a
thoughtful frown crosses her lips.
Arynel's singing was pleasant, as always, but she wonders what, if anything,
prompted this particular choice of subject.
... When was the last time you actually understood what he was thinking?
Loranna chides herself. She turns to face Tris and Arynel again, smiling a
little and raising her tankard of mead in a salute.

Wet-nurses came in two flavors. Those who had a young child of their own and

those whose children had recently died.

"I lost her and Thetri's father not long ago," Jalian said saddly as

those blue-eyed devils disappeared and the huntings and bounties didn't."
She bit her lip, tears clung to the edge of her eyes.
"Blood is power they say, more than have our herd was put to knife as was

"Wait." Arynel said. "There is
something I must do first."
The Breton reached forward and placed his finger just a bit above the
glass. There was a sound as if it had cracked, but the mirror remained
undamaged, and a green shadow lifted out of the mirror, following Arynel's hand
as he drew it back.
He returned the shadow to the mirror, pullling it in different angles to
produce the desired effects, and the shadow faded into the mirror.
"There now, there will be no more visions, but you may use it for seeing
things far off."
Loranna watches Arynel's finger with an expression of wonder and slight awe.
" ... Well, I was not really the best of seers to begin with," she
says, smiling a bit. "My thanks, dear."
She looks into the mirror once more, thinking of Sen-Yedda.

She finds herself looking down upon Sen-Yedda, held in the arms of a woman she
does not recognize - a young woman, one with some Redguard blood in her by the
looks of it. The scene causes Loranna to place her hands to her lips for a
moment, hiding her smile.
Little Sen-Yedda; already are you making new friends? she thinks, her
tone growing playful. Drink up the love and attention dear one; you seem to
be in good hands ...
Loranna gently touches the mirror with her fingers, as though to pass her kiss
on to Sen-Yedda. With one last, sad-yet-joyful smile, she tucks the mirror away
very carefully, looking back up at Arynel and letting her smile convey her
thanks.

Didryn's Home Village
Didryn looked around. He could have sworn he was just in Westcastle, but now
all he saw was several tents like the ones he used to grow up in. Then he heard
voices from inside one of the tents. They sounded like they were trying to make
someone feel better. He entered the tent, and saw several other Dunmer crowded
around someone in a bedroll. He looked down and recognized his sister,
Aahnslei, in the bedroll. She was trying to speak.
"Di... Didryn... I... be... I... beat you..." she said, holding up
the bow he had made for her with a look of weak pride smeared across her little
face. And just like that, she rolled over and stopped moving.
Didryn woke with a fully healed and movable arm. And an aching heart. He
couldn't stand one more nightmare about his family. He stood up, slung his bow
over his shoulder and began making his way to the nearest tavern. He could
think there.

Lielle only gave him a strangle look before pocketing the gold.

search for his companions. The brown-haired Breton spotted and joined them at
their table after he got a cup of wine from the innkeep.
Nalion smiled at his companions, giving them an appreciative look and took a
seat.
"Greetings, my friends. Enjoying High Rock?"
Loranna smiles at Nalion, calling a barmaid over to bring him a drink.
"It's a beautiful land," she says. "Many interesting people and
places."
And some nice temples, Loranna mentally adds, inwardly grinning.
"How fare you?" she asks Nalion. "You've been fairly busy today,
I note."

"I am fine, Loranna. Didn't want to waste the time sitting around idly.
There's so much to think about." The mage returned her smile. "I
needed to get information about what's happening in High Rock these days. It's
not that everything has remained what it was since I left 17 years ago. On the

The barmaid brought him a a piece of bread with a slice of mead on it, which he
bit into hungrily.
"I haven't eaten today yet." He said apologetically. "When do we

Tris was only 19. Nalion hadn't seen his home for almost as long as he'd been

Tris was only 19. Nalion hadn't seen his home for almost as long as he'd been
alive.
Nalion simply nodded and his smile changed expression to sincerity - and a
touch of sadness. His eyes were clouded for a brief and the mage seemed seemed
to be absentminded. "I was just one year younger than you, at that time.
Hot-headed, overconfident and in love. A combination that will surely lead to
trouble. Oh, yes, and it has."
Nalion took a sip from his wine.
"There's an almost classical story. A boy falls madly in love with a girl
he shouldn't even look at straight. Surprisingly, the girl shares his feelings
and all seems well if there hadn't been her overjealous and ambitious noble
father who wanted to marry her off for his own benefit. She got locked into the
father's estate and the common boy feels his heart break. Hot-headed as he was,
he broke into the estate at one night to fetch her. She said yes and they fled,
not without causing quite some hubbub, which led to the death of a guardsman.
Charged with murder and abduction, the boy and his love fled High Rock."
For some reason, Nalion found it was easier to tell the story in third person.
"The couple lived happily for two years until the girl died tragically by
disease, which set the boy into despair and he began a long journey, aimless
and homeless."
The mage looked up.
"The girl was called Lirielle, the boy... Nalion."
Nalion looked up, his smile returning slowly. He took the last bite of his
bread and washed it down with wine. "There are things I have to put right
soon." he told them, then looked at Loranna. "There are more pressing
matters ahead now, though. I am ready whenever you are, ...Greir."

The man returned to the group. "Leave your weapons at the door, please. And

probably wasn’t the best choice for going to meet an official. Then again they

said. "Which I might say, is a bit hard to sew with. Ah, here
comes Lielle."
The waitress crossed the floor quickly, deftly avoiding the rowdier
crowds. She bore a plate in each hand, one loaded with the Imperial's
meal and the other with bread and a bowl of broth. She set both on the
table.
"You better eat fast, Iulian," she said quietly to the seated
Cyrodiil. "Otherwise our bard friend might get in trouble."
"That so?" he replied as the server walked away and then turned back
to the Breton across from him. "I guess I better heed her words
then."
"Well, I'd hate to get into any trouble." Arynel said. "I do my
best to stay on the rights of things."
The Breton laughed. "I must say my life has been rather uneventful,
perhaps there is a connection, it matters little."

QUOTE(Loranna @ Apr 9 2005, 03:32 PM)
Loranna takes a seat. "We seek information, my
lord," she says, wondering if High Rock officials often took appointments
in striped clothes and nightcaps.
"Specifically, we seek the wise women who used to congregate at Tamirayln
Point," she explains. "We have heard that you know their
current whereabouts and wish to ask this information of you - for which, of
course, we would happily show our appreciation, shining and golden."
"You've heard have you? May I ask who you heard this from?"
He asked, fidgeting in his seat. He didn't even seem to take notice of
Loranna's subtlety.

Loranna raises her eyebrows. "So we have heard incorrectly?" she

and willing to pay handsomly for whoever could help us do so ..."

"Those two have a tendancy to go hand in hand," Iulian returned
between swallows. "In these days that can be good and bad."
He brushed a hand through his short croped black hair and looked at the tavern

He paused for a moment, "Handsomely you say? just how 'handsome' would

Loranna's face becomes brighter. "As handsome as any man could ask, my

She pulls out one of the souls gems she carries, with a Golden Saint trapped
inside. She allows the constable to touch the gem so that he may know what is
trapped within.
"You see what resources we have," she says. "We can offer you a
couple gems like this, in return for information that leads us to the wise

bills around here."
Outside the manor-

"What would you like better. The weight of many thousand gold pieces or a
couple of convenient gems with more purpose than just paying bills. There is

Loranna's face had dimmed considerably at the constable's dismissal of her

not always entice a person's greed ...
Upon hearing Reichi, she turns to look at him. "Not really; what is
it?" she asks, her expression turning questioning.

“Well, if he doesn’t want them can I use one?” Teleran asked.
“I’m sure we can find something he values highly and let him keep that instead.
“What Reichi, something outside? I heard something, couldn’t make out what it
was though.”

True to his word, Iulian quickly finished his meal and after a
polite farewell to Arynel, stepped out into the night.
Not long after the Cyrodiil's depature the tavern was entered by sereral burly
Bretons, hey were obviously agitated and looking for someone.

"I'll see whats going on outside," Reichi said. Tohe
smirked, "I'll stay in here, if they come looking for the constable in

Reichi headed off into the manor, drawing his Dagger of Senses, and his Daedric

"Blood Fang" due to it's absorb health enchantment.
Hopefully the lights won't be out all spooky like....

Outside the manor-
The two men that had been guarding the entrance...were dead. Their bodies were
sprawled on the ground, surprisingly far away.
The first corpse was mangled, and his skin had turned an unnatural pale colour.
His eyes were wide with fear and his mouth was locked open. He was bloody all
over.
The second body wasn't so bad, it had cuts and bruises all over, and was not so
pale. In fact, it stirred.
Manor, living room-
The entire staff had fled into this room, for safety's sake. The servant, the
chef, the three remaining guards...and, the dog. Which was still barking
wildly.

Loranna feels a twinge of fear, not so much for herself or Tris, but for the
guards and servants; protecting her firends she knew she could do, but
protecting non-combattants was trieckier.
"All right; here, I'm going to cast a regenerate spell on us all,"
Loranna tells the others, working her magic. The spell would last a decently
long while, and while it wasn't as powerful as her best potions, it would at
least give her a few more seconds in which to heal someone, should they get struck
before she can react. She follows the regen spell with a sanctuary spell,
mindful of the doorway leading into the room.

Nalion exited the manor, then stopped to look around, seeing the two bodies, of

though. He suspected a trap.
He brought up a magickal shield around him and twisted his sanctuary ring, then
looked over his shoulder to look for Teleran and Reichi.
"I'll investigate this guard and see if I can help. Give me cover, please,
if anything should happen."

Teleran quickly made his way around the manor to the entrance and
found no guards there, no sign of them at all near the entrance in fact. He saw
Nalion ahead of him and beyond him two pale corpses.
“Is he still alive?” he queried He pulled more daggers from their sheaths and
sent them through the air to guard Nalion as he approached.
