Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and
discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using
this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look
http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Ald Raathim
The pack did not announce its coming; they never did. One didn't tell them what
time to show up, one simply told them a meeting was wanted and they came on
their time.
The pack liked to have a lay of the land wherever they went; in the daytime
they could walk unknown among the people of Ald Raathim, watching, listening,
noting those who seemed to be the wolves in the town of the sheep.
Dram had a prickling sensation on the back of his neck all day; he was certain
he was being watched. Bretons famed for their exploits during the Parade and
the Blue Dawn could notice an unknown face seeming to be around them more times
than coincidence could explain. Gram Pyrel, hero of southern Cyrodiil ... had
his mead stolen.
Meanwhile, one Dunmer wearing a wolfshead ring looked over the castle from a
safe place, frowning ...

A young guard was warily doing his morning rounds of the castle.
He was new and had heard about the recent werewolf attack. He was about to
round a corner when an argonian clad in red silks jumped around the corner screeching.
The guard lost his nerve and ran, dropping his sword. Falco made a note on his
parchment. It now read
Ineffcient patrol routes
To many guards at night
Not enough during the day
Guards often walk around without weapons during the day
No standing uards at pivotal chokepoints in the manor
Guards seem on edge
One (possibly more) have little nerve and drop their weapon and run when I
leaped in front of him.
He went to deliver the list to Loranna and collect his first day's pay.

Shaka sat in his room for a moment, rubbing the wards on his left arm
thoughtfully. They had been pulsing slowly when he woke that morning, but the
Glass wards only stayed active when he slept. Something was up, and it meant
something more than a dunmer thief pulling a knife.
He took the Dragonbone Cuirass from the armoire, then the Ebony bracers and
Indoril pauldrons, and strapped them on. Time to be serious once more.
Posted by: Loranna Jul 6 2005, 04:00 AM
The panicked guard ran right into Dram, who frowned as he heard
the fresh recruit yell about an Argonian intruder. Already he could hear booted
feet running to search for the scaled infiltrator.
"Go and get your sword, if it's still there," he said in clipped
tones. " ... And next time, if someone jumps out at you, hit them."
He turns and returns to his patrol, noting Shaka.
"You noticed it too," he says, looking at Shaka's armor.
The Dunmer with the wolfshead ring silently scales a wall outside when no one
is looking, listening to the ruckus inside. What the heck was that lizard
doing? Getting into the castle would be harder now ...
Falco will find Loranna in her study, looking over applications for the new
school she is building. "Yes?" she asks, looking up.
Posted by: Aki Jul 6 2005, 04:06 AM
Reichi stopped in the crowd he was in, annoying a few people who
were behind him, who grumbled and moved around him. Reichi placed a hand on the
hilt of the Dagger Of Senses, watching the crowd for a moment, before
continuing. He then mentally kicked himself. He had the distinct feeling
someone or something was watching him, stopping and showing them he knew they
were watching was stupid, very stupid. He just had to hope they didn't know of
the Dagger of Senses, at least, the enchantment. He headed right for the
castle, to inform Loranna and the others the Werewolves had been contacted.

Shaka nodded. "I'm going to check in with Loranna. I don't know if she's
told you everything that's going on, but I know you're ready for
intruders."
The battlemage reached the antechamber to Loranna's study a few minutes after
Falco.

Falco entered the study. He helped himself to a large chair.
"Lady Loranna, I have in my hand a list of things that require immediate
attention for your security forces. Not included on the list however, is the
overall lack of discipline. Growing up in Cyrodill, I saw plenty of the legion.
They are extremely disciplined. That is the key to their success. I would
humbly suggest hiring a legion veteran to train your guards. Or call up an
imperial contractor. Should you choose the latter you will have imperial trade
benefits. You will also have free access to imperial guards. However the town
will be open grounds for imperial constructiuon and imperial taxes, as well as
an imperial fort. So your choices are make this place an imperial town and reap
the benefits including free guards or hire a legion veteran to supervise the
training of you current guards." He tossed her the parchment, " Now
about my salary..."

Loranna frowns. "It sounds like they're playing coy," she says,
nodding to Arynel.
" ... Well, let's find them and talk," she says, getting up. "No
sense in delaying this."
Outside, the Dunmer with the wolfshead ring carefully climbs down the wall, to
meet up with one of his packmates.
"They seem to be expecting us," he says. "We must have spooked
them last time."
His companion grins, but says "It's still light out."
"So it is; we'll see if they can find us before nightfall," he says.
"Tell the others to stay hidden. This will be a good test ..."

Falco rubbed his hands in anticipation "So Reichi where's
the meeting place?"
Posted by: Issa_Yojimbo Jul 6 2005, 04:40 AM
Issa Yojimbo walks the lonely, ashy plains of Vvardenfel, his
armor faded, and his robes tattered, his red hair now chalky white.
He had originaly been searching for his mother, but soon learned that he was
not the only one facing loss as a result of the Blue Dawn. He dedicated himself
to helping those who had lost homes, family, and loved ones from the disaster.
All the while searching for clues that his family is alive.
He had a lead.

have suggested waiting for them to contact us, but that sounds much more
fun."

We got us some Wolves to hunt."

"Nightly. I wear a ring though," Reichi said, holding up his hand.
There was a sliver ring on his ring finger, with the image of a Wolf's head
engraved into it. "Prevents the nightly transformation so long as worn.
And we didn't tell you because, well, people tend to kill Werewolves. I
wouldn't want to have to injure or kill you if you reacted unfavourably."

Loranna glowered at Shaka a bit ...
" ... Let's get moving," she says. "And let's try to be
discrete. No need to send the town into a panic ..."
===
The town of Ald Raathim was going about its daily business; vendors hawked
their wares, fishermen cast off from the dock to ply their craft, farmers
brought their crops to the central square market and shopped for needed
supplies.
Few were aware that there were wolves in their midst - and those who did know
were either not sure where, or else not telling.
The Dunmer with the wolfshead ring directed his pack to stay hidden among the sheep,
but to watch those looking for them. It would be good to know how the wolves of
Ald Raathim reacted to another pack in their midst.

Arynel turned to face the others.
“Being a carrier of Lycanthropy is often an attribute one would not like spoken
of so plainly,” the Breton said, “Perhaps you should consider the movement of
your tongue.”

Shaka bowed his head for a moment in apology. He had accepted Reichi long
enough that he hadn't thought of the effect of the truth on Falco.
He shouldered the Spear and followed the others into the Ald Raathim day.

Falco nodded at Reichi's comment. He went to the window and
struck what he thought was a heroic pose. "Well I'm off to hunt
werewolf" He then leaped out the window. Unforunatley he hadn't counted on
there being a haycart on the ground below. Falco landed in it and smashed the
whole thing apart. He was covered in hay and skulked off into the city
indigantly.

Loranna has a sinking feeling deep in her chest; she goes to talk to the now
indignant haycart owner to compensate him for his loss and the shock of having
an Argonian suddenly drop out of the sky.
"Filthy lizard ..." the cart owner huffs, "and this was a fine
crop of hay too ..."
"I understand; I'll have a word with him," Loranna promises.
"Here; let's see about getting you a new cart ..."
"Don't forget the loss of the hay," the cart owner mutters, before
adding hurriedly "m'Lady," with an apologetic bow of his head.
If any werewolves were on the scene, they kept their mouths shut. Several other
onlookers though were pointing at the funny Argonian and chuckling.

"Pyshco..." Reichi muttered, watching the Argonian
leap out the window. "Hope he doesn't hurt himself." He quickly
headed out of the castle, into the Central square market. He clutched the
Dagger Of Senses again, taking a moment to savour the odd sensation of his own senses
expanding to greater heights than human or mer could ever reach normally. He
then set about sniffing out the Werewolves, trying to act as if he was browsing
the market place.

Reichi's nose detects many things; the smell of scuttle, the scent of horses
from the Nord's side of Ald Raathim, baked goods of several varity, lots of
Dunmer and Breton and Nord, a faint hint of flowers and feminity from Loranna,
and hay mixed with reptile.
He also, as he rounds the marketplace, catches a faint whiff of feralness, much
like his own scent. It's around him, somewhere - maybe two sources, hard to
place but there.

Shaka glanced casually at Reichi, keeping some yards distant from the dunmer
while the Argonian pretended to be browsing the market as well. From the way

could not yet pick up anything unusual.

Reichi, having caught the faint scent, looked around. Now all he had to do was
find someone who didn't belong. That was vague, so he had to narrow it down.
Focusing first on those with Outlander looks and mannerisms. Then, those with
more trained movements, people who looked strong, Werewolves, were by nature
usually strong and fit, esspecially because one needed to survive a Werewolf
attack to be one, plus, these guys were mercenaries, Assassins. Good

skills. Not for long, anyways.

The Dunmer Reichi is tracking slips into the tavern; he seems to be wearing

Reichi followed after the Dunmer, without seeming to overly
conspicious, grinning inwardly. To cover his following of the Dunmer, he yawned
and said "Man, i need a drink," aloud. Got you now Reichi
thought to himself, before trying to discern what the suspected Werewolf was
wearing and what concealed weapons he might have.
Shaka followed Reichi with his eyes, debating whether it would be too
conspicuous to leave for the tavern also.

Reichi stepped into the Tavern after the Dunmer, his grip on the
Dagger Of Sense tighter. He closed the distance between him and the Dunmer,
putting a hand on the mer's shoulder, the right one, the one with his ring on
it. His left maintained the grip on the Dagger Of Senses. Giving him advance
warning on any less than stealthly drawing of a blade.
"Welcome back to Ald Raathim," Reichi said with a smug grin. He had
considering that if this was the wrong guy, this could be very awkward, but if
he was right, it'd just be cool.

Reichi can feel a hand coming down upon his shoulder - a hand wearing a ring
much like his own, only more feral-looking.
"We're glad to be back," says the voice of the man who had wanted a
greef but a few moments ago. The Dunmer Reichi cornered sniggers.

Shaka had reached a decision and, dodging into the crowd, found a corner
between two stalls away from other's eyes. He invoked the Amulet of Shadows and
began mentally counting the seconds.
The people near the tavern door that day saw only the shimmer of heat from the
road. Shaka ducked into the tavern and found a shadowy corner where he could
keep an eye on Reichi in case the meeting went sour. It had taken him two days'
charge on the Amulet, but it seemed worth it.

"We like the night," says the Dunmer behind Reichi; the voice is

The Dunmer looks over Reichi's shoulder, sniffs the air, and adds " ...
As, I think, do you."
His tone becomes more serious. "What do you want of us?" he asks, all

Shaka already thought he could tell who the alpha of the pack was; a dunmer
clad in black netch leather. A hard boy indeed, he thought. Shaka had been
adventuring longer than Seres had been alive, but he hadn't had to fight to
survive every step of the way.
Shaka had guessed that Seres would be either someone's slave, or a seasoned
fighter, and it was easy now to tell which.

Ald Raathim Castle
The sun shone brightly over the inner sea and the waves glimmered in the
sunlight, breaking and reflecting the rays into a multitude of angles. Over the
water blew a soft warm breeze, taking the salty smell of water with him towards
the shore. The wind blew past the shipwrecks in the Ald Raathim bay and through
the tips of the mangrove trees, picking up the scent of summer. Then, it swept
upwards towards the castle of Ald Raathim and over the walls and continued it's
way further into the mainland.
The mage stood on the castle's wall and looked onto the village of Ald Raathim
not far away as the wind played with his brown hair and made his robe flap
lightly in the breeze.
"So the message was delivered and the hunters are here." he whispered
into the wind. They would have to be careful in the nightly meeting. Not that he
expected a fight, but nontheless certain precautions should be made.
After all, during nighttime, the werewolves would be in the advantage. They did
not need to rely on eyesight only, but could use their sense of smell as well,
not to speak of their purely physical strength and agility. While Reichi and
probably the Argonians would be able to counter it, the humans in the group
might be at a slight disadvantage. Another issue was that we do not know how
many they are, while they can probably guess how many of us would come to the
meeting - and more importantly - who.
Nalion was not really troubled. He and many of his companions had seen, faced
and survived more dangerous foes than werewolves, but it was not in his habit
of taking unnecessary risks.
The middle-aged Breton looked up again and resumed watching people go about
their business. It was amazing how this village, no, the entire district has
prospered. After all, only a few months ago, Ald Raathim had seemed to be a
lone bastion in a sea of enemies. While a select company of friends had sought
the gem Flamekiss in the ancient Vaults of Gemin in Blackmarsh, Ald Raathim had
been under attack by Azurite forces.
Only the combined efforts of many - commoners, soldiers, leaders and heroes
alike - were able to defend this town and preserve this valuable stronghold in
their efforts to defeat the Azurites. Now, only few signs spoke of this battle,
though the shipwrecks in the bay could tell of the force of the assault.
Nalion was glad how this particular town had developed, first under the
guidance of Jazbet, then under Loranna's hand. He knew that there were still
things to be resolved, with House Dres for example, but he felt that Ald
Raathim was a good beginning and a sign for others to do likewise.
With Raithmat's appearance, it once again lay in their hands to defend this
place again, and although the scope of the threat was a different one, the
threat still remained. He had confidence in his friends though, that they would
once again be successful...

Isidor had been sitting in the Tavern, in a dark booth, but he
had heard the whole conversation between Reichi and the other dunmer. A mine,
at night, with werewolves, though Isidor to himself, what a winning combination.
Finishing his mead, he dropped some gold on the bar and walked out.
When he arrived at the castle, he went directly to his room, to select his best
equipment. He would take Hromthir's Axe, a family heirloom, which was enchanted
with heavy fire enchantments, and some snow wolf armor. If those bastards
wanted a fight, they were going to get a fight. He didn't want to bash their
skulls in, but he was prepared to.

Falco gave a waved to the others. "Well, I'll meet you all
at the east exit of town in a few hours. "Since the we'll be discussing
terms with werewolves I have a few preparations wich may not be necessary, but
could very well prove vital." He exited the castle and headed into town.

Shaka sat in his room, looking through his scroll case and the
armoire of gear. Although his armor would cut down on his agility, he decided
to wear it to the meeting anyway. Shaka had never fought werewolves before --
hopefully he still wouldn't have to -- but he had the feeling their agility and
speed would surpass an Argonian's even without the armor, let alone human
agility.
The silver-inlaid axe and the Spear were going along. He slipped a few silver
throwing stars and ebony spikes into a leather pouch. Now what scrolls to take
. . .
He glanced through the scrolls of Ekash's Lock Splitter, not that he would need
them tonight, probably. Shaka saw that he was down to a half-dozen of them now.
Elemental Burst/Shock ..... Frost ..... He would leave most of his scrolls
behind, especially the rarer ones.
Shaka practiced the mudras of power for a moment, the ones to summon a Bound
Mace, a Bound Dagger . . . . Greater Fireball, that might come in handy . . .
and of course the Shield, however temporary. That left the spell that he had
been born to learn, under his birthsign: the paralyzing Lover's Kiss. He did
not attempt to cast the green corpusant Lover's Kiss spell as a practice; it
was so draining to his fatigue that he could only manage it once per day.
He studied the dwemer goblet that he had placed on the stand next to his bed.
In its understated celadon and bronze-colored beauty, it was a reminder of all
that he had won in his travels only to see buried in the ash in Caldera.
Shaka thought back to the days after he had returned to his home, having been
away when Red Mountain went up. If it hadn't been for the castle in town, he
would have been hard-pressed to find his home under the feet of ash. When he
helped dig out the town, he was able to salvage some of his collection and
store it in a nearby abandoned mine.
He preferred not to think about all that was still under the ash. All the
ceramics he had collected, the dwemer artifacts, the Glass and Ebony weapons,
even a few legendary artifacts . . . . Some of the legendary weapons had
disappeared so thoroughly that he suspected they had been in fact taken back by
the gods, to be won by some man or woman in the future. That's all our
possessions are in the end anyway, Shaka thought; something we just borrow for
a while. He hoped he could someday pass the Spear and Cuirass to someone,
perhaps even family.
Shaka knew Caldera, Vivec City, and a hundred other places were rebuilding now,
however slowly. He still felt his destiny was with these people of the south.
Looking at the werewolf leader, whom he suspected was Seres, Shaka had had an
odd thought. He knew his history well enough to know that marriages of
convenience were common. IF they could persuade Seres of his identity, and IF
Seres even cared enough about his dead parents' land to help .... perhaps the
ghost of Raithmat would be appeased by the marriage of Loranna and Seres.
Loranna could keep Slyvos on the side as her true husband . . . .
No, that was insane. Shaka vowed here and now he would never broach the idea to
any of the rest of the group. Loranna obviously loved Slyvos and would rather
see Daruhn go to its destruction rather than be other than true to herself. And
this was the end of the line for Shaka and, he suspected, a number of the
others such as Falco. Shaka would face Ald Raathim's fate with the rest of
them.
The question now was this. Was Seres' strength that of his late father and
mother? Or was he in fact the heir of his grandfather Raithmat's pride and

Falco was pushing his way through the large crowded streets. He
knew he had to get to an alchemist's shop. Once inside he bought a small bag of
powdered silver, vary expensive, and a cure common disease potion, just in
case. He placed the potion in his bag. He drew his sword and the cloth he used
to polish it. He began rubbing the powdered silver onto it. This was only
temporary because Falco could not afford a proper inlay. But for a few days th
powdered silver would work just as well. He the walked to the city's east
entrance. He waited there for the others to come.

Isidor stood and surveyed himself in a mirror. The white armor
was perfectley clean, as it hasn't been used in ten years. His axe was in it's
sheath, and a claymore was strapped to his back. Overzealous, perhaps, but you
can never be too prepared. He walked out of the castle and saw Falco's
signature red clothes dart past him. Taking his time, he wanted to find Reichi,
he had a question for him.
Posted by: Aki Jul 6 2005, 07:06 PM
Reichi entered his room, heading over to the bed and lifting the
matteress up. "Right where i left ya," Reichi muttered, grabbing
Daedric shortsword, enchanted with a nasty absorb health enchantment courtesy
of a rather nasty monster's soul. He placed the Daedric shortsword on the bed,
noting the note of 'Do not touch' was still on it, he chuckled. He considered
the meeting. If things went wrong, well, he didn't have any silver, however
being night-time at the meeting, he had a ace. Reichi considered that factor
for a moment, before pulling off his Wolf fur armor and tossing it on the bed
with the Daedric blade, leaving the Dunmer nude except for his ring, and the
collar he acquired from Mirea. Acquired was the best term he could put to it.
The Bosmer youth had tossed it around his neck a long time ago, during the same
adventure he had gained the Dagger Of Senses, Reichi had taken a liking to it.
It made a handy place to keep his ring when it wasn't in use. Reichi grabbed a
simple common brown robe and donned it, tucking the Dagger Of Senses into the
robe. Though if things went awry, it wasn't going to be used much. It had been
awhile since he had tasted blood, felt flesh give way under his claws. Even
longer since fighting another Werewolf.
Reichi headed out of him room, and out of the castle.

Loranna arrives shortly after, nodding to everyone. "Hi
dears," she says. "Well, let's do this."
The mine was several miles out, and night was coming fast; Loranna hands
everyone potions of night eye and cure disease, and a few healing potions.
These preperations complete, she leads the party to the mine, using spells to
increase peoples' speed so that the journey takes but an hour or so.
The evening proves to be quiet, the air still and the sky clear. The hairs on
Loranna's neck raise as the party approaches the mine; she mutters "Anyone
else feel like we're being watched?"
The mine comes into view, the broken door hanging open as if in invitation. The
small patch of flowers Loranna inadvertantly created still remains, offering an
odd but pleasing dash of color to the otherwise muted landscape.

Turning the corner, the guttering light of torches can be seen,
throwing the first main room into shadows. The black-clad Dunmer youth stands
in the far end, flanked by two werewolves sitting on their haunches. The
grey-furred wolves seem to be grinning at the party, fangs glinting in the
torchlight.
"Ah, you came early," the black-clad werewolf says. "Welcome,
welcome. I see you all came with some confidence boosters; it's always nicer to

Loranna's eyes sweep the room; she was sure there were other werewolves around,
but despite her night-eye she couldn't spot any in the shadows just yet. Maybe
Reichi could smell them.
"So," the Dunmer youth says, "I understand you're looking for a

"Actually," Loranna says, "we're looking for a Rasar."
The Dunmer youth frowns.

muscles, Breton."
Loranna sighs. "Perhaps a contest of champions then?" she asks,
looking back at her companions.
"I'm up for a contest. I'm sure that anyone of us could defeat any of one
of the werewolves."

"I volunteer also," said Shaka. His Black Marsh blood was beginning

that the werewolf was no Jazbet, as he had heard Jazbet spoken of. Seres didn't
have his father's nobility -- he had grown up in a jungle.

Rasar looks at the people who stepped forward with a knowing
smile. "A good sign, that your people would step up so readily," he
says to Loranna. "So ... do we have a deal?"
" ... We have a deal," Loranna says. "You'll get your two
hundred thousand septims once we're done here."
Rasar grins ferally, playing with his ring. "Very well; I accept that I am
Lord of these lands of Ald Raathim," he says, in a voice obviously used to
command. "And now - proves yourselves worthy to succeed me."
To Falco, he says "Just a little combat, my friend; if you can't keep up
just drop your weapons and show your throat."
The two werewolves rise to their feet, and several more emerge from the
shadows, all with seeming grins on their faces. They pick their targets and
soon the mine is filled with battle howls.

Shaka dropped the Spear and, with a scream like tearing metal, launched himself
at a werewolf. He ducked under the first slash of the overconfident opponent
and drove a taloned foot into his throat.
Gagging, the werewolf fell back for the moment. Shaka formed his hands into the
claws of the Rain of Sand.

Reichi grinned wolfishly, before pulling his robe and ring off
in a fluid moment, flinging the robe at the nearest Werewolf, and slipping the
ring under a clasp on his collar, enabling him to keep the ring in his
possesion without it impeding a transformation. By the time the ring was secured,
Reichi could already seen claws fully formed, a coat of fur already setting in.
Luckily, he managed to avoid any combat until the transformation was nearly
complete. Maybe the werewolves felt generous, maybe they were busy with the
others. Reichi tossed that thought away for later. When he wasn't surrounded by
Werewolves who weren't friendly.
Reichi took note of the nearest Werewolf, who was standing by the remains of
Reichi's robe, and rushed at him, ducking under a claw slash, and delivering a
powerful punch to then gut, followwed by a closed fist to the back of the head
when the Wolf doubled over in pain.

More wary now, Shaka's opponent crouched and feinted for a
second.
"Come on, bastard!" yelled Shaka. The werewolf rushed him and Shaka
had a brief moment to realize the incredible speed of the lycanthrope before
the Argonian was hurled backwards some yards, sparks flying from his cuirass.
Shaka flipped back onto his feet and spun in the unpredictable circle of the
Rain of Sand, the werewolf's claw missing his head by inches. He stopped for a
moment and held the werewolf's eye, Shaka's claws poised, before cracking his
tail against the werewolf's temple while he was distracted. The werewolf fell,
seemingly stunned.
Shaka took ebony throwing spikes from the pouch at his waist and drove them
through both of the werewolf's achilles tendons. He backed away as the werewolf
howled and thrashed on the mine's floor.

Shaka's werewolf painfully pulls the spikes out, growling and
showing his throat; another werewolf, one obviously more cautious than the

suggesting he's had training in some martial art style himself. The fact that
said werewolf can use such presicion in this form attests to the discipline
these wolves must have ...
Reichi's opponent shakes off the pain from his blows, and growls, jaws snapping
for Reichi's limbs and claws slashing at his face.
Rasar, now transformed into a large black werewolf, advances on Loranna, along
with a second werewolf who looks decidedly meaner than the rest. Rasar growls
at the werewolf next to him and steps back, as Loranna gets attacked. She
twists and turns, trying to keep those razor sharp claws from ripping something
off of her ...

The werewolf Reichi just knocked down shows his throat to the white-furred
warrior.
Loranna gets slashed several times, though her armor deflects the worst of it;
her opponent growls angrily and snaps at her face with his jaws, making Loranna
back up with incredible speed. Battle lust burns in the werewolf's eyes and he
tenses his muscles to leap ...
Caress clears Loranna's scabbard and slashes the werewolf in the arm as it
leaps, Loranna turning to avoid the flying slash. The werewolf lands on rubbery
legs and reaches out weakly, and Loranna steps into its guard and to its now
undefended flank to absorb his remaining strength and fatigue, catching the
werewolf as he collapses in a heap.
Rasar growls a little, but his eye now seems to be on Reichi; he bares his
fangs, seeming almost to say 'Don't Hold Back' and approaches, growling and
circling like a true wolf.

Shaka took the werewolf's blows on his ebony bracers but was slowly driven

he was up against a more trained foe.
Feinting a tail strike, Shaka unsheathed the ebony axe and cracked the werewolf
across the side of the head with the flat of the blade. Shaka kicked the
werewolf in the head once as he fell, to make sure. He'll live, he thought to
himself, trying not to let the blood rage affect his fighting skill.
Seeing Loranna herself under attack, Shaka sprinted for the Spear of Bitter

"Two hundred thousand septims, plus a bit more if your haggling is as good

"Then it seems our business is completed; enjoy your rulership,"

Shaka was struck for the moment by the realization that Rasar and his pack

by this mercenary.
Loranna is just trying to do the best she can for as many of her people as she

QUOTE(syronj @ Jul 7 2005, 06:19 PM)
"I'm ... buying, Isidor," Shaka managed to
wheeze. "But first .... Give me some sugar, Nord." A
green ball like lightning formed between Shaka's hands. He hurled the
Lover's Kiss spell at Isidor, freezing him on his feet.
Shaka paid the guards, then, grinning, ran into the castle with a pile of
equipment and clothing in his arms.
A minute later, Dram heard an archer on the battlements ask in
puzzlement: "Why is there a naked Nord standing in the
courtyard?"
Shaka headed for the anteroom to Loranna's quarters.
" ..." The Dunmer guard who had demanded a fine simply stood and
stared at Isidor for a moment, before muttering "I'll never understand
what it is about Nords and nudity ..."
The second guard, being a bit more tactful, gently smacks his elbow into the
first guard's ribs. "Stop that; besides, I'm still trying to figure out
what that Argonian just cast. I thought for a minute he muttered lover's kiss
or something."
"Eh, lizard mages are always making up new spells ..." the first
Dunmer mutters, as the two turn to notice Dram show up. "Serjo," they
say, coming to attention.
Dram simply nods, then looks at Isidor. "Too hot?" he asks mildly.
===
Loranna, meanwhile, is informed that she has people seeking an audience with
her, and agrees to meet them in the study. She wonders why the servant who
tells her this is giggling to herself.

Isidor was fuming. He was a laughingstock. He needed a way to reclaim his
honor....

Before heading for Loranna's quarters, Shaka had cast a Heal
Companion spell on Isidor's jaw. He deposited the Nord's clothing in the
hallway near Isidor's room before continuing to Loranna's wing.
I'll have to apologize to him, thought Shaka. Still, he had reduced some of the
seriousness around the castle this day.

something, he picks them up and tosses them into his room. Walking to Loranna's

Argonian." He pats him on the shoulder.

Shaka and Isidor will find Loranna waiting in her study, still wondering what
the servant was giggling about.
"Good afternoon dears," she says, smiling. "What is it you
wished to talk about?"

Falco had not been asleep 2 minutes before he popped back up. It
would seem that I have yet to acquire payment for my services as a security
conultant. I also must discuss the matter of training the guards with Loranna.
He left his room and jogged off towards Loranna's study.

So do I, Loranna thinks to herself, but she refrains from speaking that aloud.
"Not at all," she says to Shaka. "What are your concerns?"

Shaka studied the regal woman for a moment. He had seen a new side of her
yesterday, in the mine; Shaka had never seen her in armor or combat before. She
reminded him of a few Imperials he had known: the good ones, those who had
risen to the top through ability, not birth.
"My lady, we're all relieved that we not only found Rasar but that he
accepted his status as Lord of Daruhn. When he chose to walk away from it,
albeit after shaking you down for a great deal of septims, that was even
better.
But my concern is this. We still don't know if this situation is acceptable to
the ghost of Raithmat. I just didn't want to be standing here with the people
of Ald Raathim in a few weeks and be drowned anyway.
My second concern is a lesser one, I'll grant you: Rasar and his pack will
probably go back to being slavecatchers and mercenaries. No, there's no
"probably" about it. You'll forgive me, but I've heard a little about
the kind of being Jazbet was. He wouldn't have wanted his father's taint to
continue.
I will stay and serve no matter what," he concluded.

Loranna wonders if Shaka had heard the rumors of the scars that were on her
chest - scars which she still possessed despite her healing magics. Raithmat
was still not at rest, she felt, if she could still feel the dull ache in her
magically-induced wounds.
"I rather suspect Raithmat is beside himself," she says soberly.
"However, the terms he presented have been met; Seres laid claim to the title
od Lord of Ald Raathim, just like he wanted." She frowns a little. "I
expect he'll try something else soon; I'm taking what steps I can think of to
prepare, given what I've seen of his power."
"As for Rasar and his lifestyle ..." Loranna gets a long-suffering
look, evidentally not happy with the thought of Jazbet's son being a slaver,
but her voice is firm. "His life is his to lead, no one else's. He
rejected the life Raithmat intended for him, did he not? Rejected it with
little hesitation; he's where he wants to be now. Why should he want to life a
life decided by a father he never knew, or a widow stepmother he just learned
about?"
She smiles. "I know how you feel; I'd rather he not be a slaver too. But
you can't force a wild wolf to do what he doesn't want to do. And I appreciate
your kind words and your help."

I should talk to Dad about that trip to Skyrim he was planning, Loranna
thinks. It might be good for some of our newer friends to adventure with him
- and keep him from getting into too many barfights.

"Very well." Isidor bows and exits, walking back to his room. He
felt, better, cleansed in a way. He would take his bear armor and his two axes
"Moonsblood" and "Iceshine". He would prove himself, once
and for all.

And so, with plans in motion to secure Ald Raathim's safety from
Raithmat and to see to the town's continued prosperity, Loranna moves on with
the day's work; hopefully the rats didn't get into the storehouses again.
What comes of her plans shall be seen in the next thread.
LOCK ON!!!
