The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight

Posted by: Loranna Jul 8 2005, 03:24 AM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna:

Loranna is in Ald Raathim, having recently negotiated with the werewolf son of Jazbet, Rasar/Seres, to earn the right to be Lady of Daruhn once more. She is making plans to make sure the ghost of Raithmat is not going to cause any further harm, now that his curse has been fulfilled, and to recoup some of the money she had to pay Rasar to secure his cooperation.

Summary for Gram:

Gram is mostly hanging out at Ald Raathim, getting used to Morrowind's heat, and dreaming about his plans for finding the Coffer of King Orgnum once he's sure his daughter doesn't need her father's help.

OOC Summary:

Reichi is hanging out in the castle in Ald-Raathim, specifically, his room, after having gone with Loranna and the other to negotiate with Rasar/Seres, having gotten a chance to fight with the Werewolf pack and Rasar, and managed to defeat Rasar.

------------------------------------------

Reichi pulled on the last piece of his Wolf Fur armor, the right glove, after making sure his ring was securely on his finger. Reichi slid the Dagger of Senses into its' sheath at his side, and his enchanted Daedric Shortsword, which he had dubbed 'Bloodfang' into a larger sheath also strapped to his side.

Falco finds Loranna in her study, writing letters.

"Hello Falco," she says. "Thanks for helping out last night."

"Dram and I are still discussing that," Loranna says. "Your suggestions have been noted though."

"Were there any other concerns you had?" she asks after a few seconds.

"Don't assume he's out of the picture totally yet," Loranna mutters.

"There will be other things to keep us busy, I am sure," she replies. "There always are. Besides, I'll be wanting you to test our implementation of the new security measures you suggested in a couple of weeks, see how well things are working."

"If you're craving action though I'll be taking a small expidition soon to help recoup what I just paid Rasar," she mentions.

Loranna frowns a little. "Were you this unabashedly honest with your other employers?" she asks, sighing.

" ... Just some honest, heartfelt advice; incorrigible rogues make for very entertaining storybook heroes but in real life they tend to wear out their welcomes very quickly," she says. "And despite having friends who wander around all over the place, I know from experience it's nice to have somewhere to relax and cath your breath, and not have to worry about who's going to come looking for you."

" ... Anyway, I need to get back to some paperwork; we'll talk later," Loranna says with a smile. "Oh; we found the armor suit too; clever idea, that. Good day, dear."

Loranna turns back to her work.

Summary
The male Breton mage Nalion is currently staying at the tavern of Ald Raathim. On the table in front of him was a good piece of guar steak and a bowl of saltrice. On the side was a small pot with spices and peppers, of which the mage took full advantage. As filling as the meals were in the castle itself, due to Razbiah's attitude towards anything only vaguely resembling 'flavours', most of her food lacked the proper taste. Hopefully, rumours of his meal would not spread so far as to the Dunmer cook's pointed ears.

Nalion smiled as he took the first bite of the steak, closed his eyes for a moment and enjoyed the spices pleasantly tickling his tongue. As much as he liked staying at Ald Raathim castle - and respected the cook - at some time, he just needed to eat someting not tasting dull. With a satisfied expression on his face and chuckling slightly, the mage continued his meal.

Posted by: Loranna Jul 8 2005, 10:52 PM

A day or so after the werewolves had left Ald Raathim, Loranna completes her preperations.

The wards on the castle were still complete; a Dunmer shaman Loranna had spoken to on Lord Obael's recomendation gravely told Loranna that the glyphs Kethiah had renewed still held strength, and that no evil spirit could wreck havoc in the castle. He furthermore assured Loranna that the spirits of the dead could not lightly break their own promises; if a ghost said 'Do this or else I'll do that' and you fulfilled the letter of his pledge, then that was that.

Loranna felt reassured but still had some worries, since the scars on her chest had not yet faded; telling the shaman the tale of Raithmat, the Dunmer agreed to re-fortify the wards, and he concurred with Loranna that clearing out the dungeons of Raithmat's old torture devices couldn't hurt either. Loranna entrusted that task to Dram, and turned her attentions to other matters in Ald Raathim.

For now, affairs in her lands were going well. She had found a couple of teachers for the new school she was having built, and the two were already setting up shop in temporary accomodations. R'shasha, though uneducated and a bit on the meek side, had found a place as a new servant in Loranna's household, filling Anazul's place; Razbiah was a bit cross with the Khajiit's interests in the larder, but Falco's raid had left her in a bit of a sour mood already, for which Loranna couldn't blame her. The rats made a small comeback in the storehouses but the town guards made short work of them; her father, having heard the guards' recounting of their foray against the rodents, noted to his daughter that it was 'the most heroic encounter with vermin ever told, even counting my own tales.'

She told Kallen, Dram, and Slyvos that she would be in Vvardenfell for a few days, drumming up funds in the traditional Nordic manner. She assembled her gear, including rations and soul gems, and the usual scrolls and potions, and secured passage on a vessel to Gnaar Mok, which was a slightly nicer place than Hla Oud and which had a Daedra Shrine nearby as well - and a Dwemer ruin too; she'd never been in a Dwemer ruin. A moment's thought and she crafted an illusionary disguise for herself - a buxom though slightly plump Nord woman with long copper braids and features that were more cute than beautiful, as best as Loranna could manage, and Hilga, Nordic adventuress and mage, was born.

All that remained now was to get Falco and Isidor together, and Shaka too; Loranna had sent the Argonian battlemage word of her plans with the note that she'd appreciate having him on hand for this, if he was interested.

Isidor stood in the courtyard, looking around. It was a cool morning, and good for sailing. He hoped Loranna, Falco and anyone else was coming would get ready, so they could sail, and arrive in Vvardenfell either tonight or early tommorrow.

Falco entered the courtayard with his usual supplies. A bag at his side containing 3 days worth of easy to store Alit Jerky, 3 bottles of brandy, and a small cutlery set. "Well Isidor its high time we leave this place and go once again on a quest. Where's Shaka?"

'I've been taking care of the little things.'

Loranna looks down at the rat, then looks at Slyvos and sighs, shaking her head.

"So that's how they come back so quickly," she says. "You know we can't let them have run of the storehouse; can you ... um, talk them into going elsewhere?"

Not that that will help much, Loranna thinks; rats never did what one wanted ...

Posted by: Dagoth Lich Jul 9 2005, 01:08 AM

Sly sighed, picking the rat up. he took out a little paper crown thingy from his robe and put it on the rat's head.

'okay, now you go tell the others that if they need something to eat, come to me. And stay away from the guards, those potions only last so long'

Rat: {squeak}

'good boy.'

He put the rat down and sighed.

'well, I think they'll leave the food stores alone for a while.'

Loranna is silent for a long moment.

"I see," she says, coming over and putting a hand on Slyvos's cheek, looking into his eyes intently. The illusion fades, leaving her silver tearstreaks to catch the light in her room.

" ... Slyvos love?" she asks quietly, her fingers gently caressing his neck as though feeling for something.

"You're a Khajjit now, not a Bosmer," Loranna says gently. "Though it is touching to see you trying to help defenseless creatures survive like this ..."

She closes her eyes, not sure what to do; everything was set for her to head off, but she didn't want to leave Slyvos alone right now ...

" ... Dear, you need to be around people more," she says. "I know you can't stand most people, but you can't cut yourself off totally. ... Maybe you should come with us to VVardenfell, or talk to Nalion or my dad about doing something."

He sighs, kissing Loranna on the cheek.

'I'm coming with you. I don't care if I have to put up with those other three, I'm going back with you.'

Over the next few days the rat incursions would stop almost all together. Course, that's when cliff racer remains would start to show up near Slyvos' room.

Loranna kisses Slyvos back, though her heart is pounding; worried thoughts run through her mind.

... What do I do about this? she asks herself.

Resuming her disguise as Hilga, she puts her cloak on over her robe, saying "Well, let's head down to the docks. You got everything you need?"

Loranna smiles. "All right," she says, her heart calming down. "Anyway, this should, hopefully, not be too strenuous. Try to let the others do their share of the work though; Isidor is looking to prove himself after getting hit on the head with a rock and I never got a chance to see Falco in action the other night, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle this outing."

She heads out to the docks, greeting the others with a wide grin and twirling a copper braid in her fingers. "Greetings everyone; two little changes. Slyvos will be accompanying us, and for this trip, I'm Hilga, mage and adventuress. No Lady Loranna this or Accursed Mother that; we're just part of the group, looking for a bit of fortune and adventure. I catch you calling me by that witch's name and you'll be swallowing an icicle the size of my arm, understand?"

She chuckles. "Let's cast off."

The weather proved servicable, and by late afternoon the boat pulled into the docks of Gnaar Mok ...

Posted by: Nalion Jul 9 2005, 01:55 AM

Gnaar Mok had been a typical fishing village in the times before the Blue Dawn. Luckily for this village, the Azurites did not take too much interest in it and thus, damage was low. Over time, some survivors had gathered in Gnaar Mok and took up business as fishermen and had begun the long and arduous work of rebuilding. The village itself was visibly less populated than before the Blue Dawn.
Arenim Manor, a former Hlaalu residence, still stood, though it showed heavy signs of disrepair. The other shacks looked like so many in this part of Vvardenfell: huts on stakes built from the wood available in the Bitter Coast region. Wooden walkways connected them and reached a good way into the water. The huts also needed repairs, as holes in the walls clearly showed. At least, these houses provided a roof and a spot to take shelter from the rains. A few small fishing boats swayed softly in the waves.

Only two guards clad in battered Hlaalu style bonemold armour patrolled the walkways. The inhabitants went on with their daily duties, giving the group strange looks as they passed them.

At the central square, a woman with imperial features and dressed in western clothes heatedly discussed with a third guard.

Posted by: Aki Jul 9 2005, 01:58 AM

Reichi been on the docks already when Loranna/Hilga and Slyvos arrived, and been relatively quiet on the Boat trip. When the ship pulled into Gnaar Mok Reichi mumbled a curse at the materials his armor was made off. In the warmth of the west gash, wolf fur armor was far from comfortable. Nevertheless, Reichi climbed out of the boat onto the rickety looking wooden docks of Gnaar Mok, surprised they didn't collaspe. He glanced at the woman talking heatedly with a Guard.

"Huh..." he mumbled.

Slyvos and I are gonna have to use chameleon spells to go on our honeymoon, Loranna thinks to herself as she gives Reichi a bemused glance. Maybe this is a side effect of mantling Dibella - though it happened when I had Azura in me too. Then again, Azura is rather desirous of attention ...

The tired, ragged look of Gnaar Mok turns Loranna's thoughts to a more somber tone, though she doesn't show it. There was a pervasive feeling of people not really caring about fixing things up beyond the bare minimum needed to get by; it disheartened her and offended her sensibilities to see such apathy. Thadas had spoken truly; the Dunmers' hearts were still stolen ...

She wanders up to within earshot of the Imperial and the guards, curious as to what's going on.

Isidor looked at the shores of Vvardenfell and they looked so unfamilar to himl. It had been fifteen years since he had set foot on this ashen land, and he wasn't sure he wanted to. But he steeled himself, and thought of his honor.

As the companions approached, they could hear snippets of the conversation.

"... didn't come ... for hours ... help ... please!" the woman begged, tugging at the arm of the guard.

The Dunmer guard however made a dismissive gesture. The words "Go away, Imperial. Not my business!" could clearly be heard. Then, he shook his head and walked away, leaving the woman alone. She gaped after the guard, then covered her face with her hands and began to cry.

"I am Ianca Metellus." the imperial woman answered. "I ... no, I better tell you the story from the beginning. My husband, Tenuvius, is a scholar for dwemeri machinery in the Imperial City. He was tired of the exhibits there, though, since they were not properly functioning. And after these events with the people called Azumaits or something like that, he had this crazy idea to actually have a look at the original machinery here on Vvardenfell."

She sighed and again tears began to run down her cheeks, which she repeatedly dried with the read handkerchief.

"He thought he could bypass imperial law and collect some things for study while the imperial presence here is low.", Ianca sobbed. "... so he ran off to that Dwemeri ruin nearby after he hired a guard. That was two days ago. He should have been back by now, told me it would take him just a little over a day to get some things from there."

"He's possessed with these machines, I know, but he's a kind man. The guard did not want to help me... said something about a fetcher. That he could care less. He even wanted to fine me for attempt of smuggling Dwemeri artifacts!" Ianca sobbed and cleaned her nose with the kerchief, then handed it back to the towering Nord. "Thank you!", she smiled weakly.

Aleft Dwemeri ruin, Bitter Coast, Vvardenfell

It truly was a short walk through the muddy landscape of the Bitter Coast and soon the party stood in front of the Dwarven ruin of Aleft. The alien design with its metal spires and walls loomed over them and the hissing and crackling of the machinery inside could be heard. The sounds were a strange contrast to the other noises that surrounded them: the humming of insects flying from draggle-tail to draggle tail, the bubbling of swamp gases ascending from the murky pools of water or the occaisonal howl from a nix hound far away. The Dwemeri ruin stood there as if in defiance of the surrounding nature itself. The stone and metal floor in front of the sealed entrance showed no footsteps or signs of recent use.

Bringing up the rear of the group, Shaka nodded to "Hilga" and caught Falco's eyes. He mouthed the words "watching you ...." and pointed to his eyes, then Falco; then softened it with a wry grin.

Earlier on the boat, Loranna had taken Shaka aside and asked him to help keep track of the rogue, though Falco had recently almost seemed to be doing the right thing now and then. Shaka unsheathed the Spear of Bitter Mercy and followed the group in, noting the ruin had the usual eternal amber light cylinders casting a partial illumination.

Shaka pulled a few torches from his pack and ignited them, handing one to Falco.

The aisle the party stood in was lit by strange glowing light devices. The sounds of the Dwemeri machinery was much stronger inside. Mechanical gears were rattling, steam hissed from pipes and threatened to scald those who would step too near. Strange dwemeri devices with attached wheels and cranks produced a rhythmic metallic symphony...

clickety-clack

clickety-clack

clack

clack

The fearful cries and shrieks of a human voice deeper in the ruin seemed to severly disturb this mechanical orchestra.

Isidor shakes his head and said "I'll go first." He walks foward and is promptly hit in the stomach with the business end of a Sphere Centurion. He knocks the head off, with his axe, and it made a clatter as it hit the ground. Reichi pulled first both the Dagger Of Senses and the Daedric Shortsword Bloodfang from their sheathes, and headed into the ruin, the Wolf fur boots making next to no sound on the metal floors. Despite the normally dark interior of the ruin, Reichi could see fine with the Dagger Of Senses' unique enchantment. When Isidor destroyed the centurion, awakening the others, Reichi cursed under his breath.

The Animunculi Loranna targeted with her spell hissed one last hiss then a screw sprang out of it's chest, most probably loosened by a hit of Shaka and the whole metal thing crumbled to pieces.

As Loranna and the party came nearer to the source of the screams, they could see a few Centurion Spheres and three Steam Centurions armed with dreadful maces battering on a massive tube in one corner. One of them tried to stick his sword-like right arm into it and seemed to try to hit something. The cries the party had heard seemed to come from inside the tube and had significantly increased in intensity and loudness. The panic of the voice was clearly discernible.

"gOOO awaYYY! HeeelP!"

One of the Centurion Spheres turned its one-eyed metal head toward the approaching heroes and beeped. All but one of the Animunculi turned and faced the new intruders, pointing their weapons at them. Then, they advanced at broad front, the three Steam Centurions first.

The remaining Centurion Sphere continued to batter on the Dwemeri tube.

There was a crackle of electricity and the thump of displaced air as the massive rock-like golem appeared. At an unspoken command of Shaka's, the atronach grabbed the injured mace-arm of the steam centurion and tore it off.

The atronach struck the centurion across the face with its own arm. The centurion wavered on its feet for a moment, then with a tremendous crash, fell to the floor and did not move again.

Shaka drove the Spear into the right shoulder joint of the centurion.

*

Hot steam hissing from a severed tube inside of the Animunculi and threatened to wound Shaka. Nontheless, the right arm was lost to the machine. The left swung in a wide arc in order to hit Shaka's head.

Two of the centurion spheres' heads were seperated from their bodies. Falco placed his saber back in its sheath. He walked over to the wall and leaned against it, whistling whilst he waited. No point in wearing myself out anymore. My companions seem to be handling this just fine. Perhaps I can get some looting done once these centurions are finished with.

The Sphere Centurion was single-minded in its attack on the helpless tube; it didn't even seem to acknowledge Loranna when she got within melee range of the gleaming metal warrior. The screams within the tube told her plainly how terrified the person inside was.

It was time to do something about that.

One of Loranna's preferred custom spells sapped the health, strength, and endurance of a target, and absorb spells worked just as well on Dwemer centurions as they did on living opponents, Daedra, or even undead - not that the thought of absorbing energy from a rotting corpse was particularly enjoyable. Loranna casts her custom spell while she's still six feet away from the Centurion, still running toward it to grapple with the metal warrior, and cast the spell once more at touch range as she hugged its arms together.

QUOTE(Nalion @ Jul 8 2005, 09:58 PM)

A Centurion Sphere turned towards Isidor, pointing the definitely wrong end of a blade - at least for Isidor - at the Nord.

*

Isidor is pinned to a wall, the blade at his throat. Trapped, he doesn't know what to do. Then, he kicks the blade, hoping to save himself. The blade swung crosswise, but Isidor ducks down, and the blade missed him. He kicked the great metal beast, and it sputtered backwards. He hits it with the axe, and it is stunned for a moment. He then throws himself on top of it and hits it with the axe, killing it.

Another centurion sphere attempts to stab at Falco. His nimble form dodges the blow but is cloak is pinned to the wall cauing him to trip when he tries to run. Falco drew his saber and attempts to slash at t but each time it rolls out of the way. "Isidor My good chap, Little help would be useful."

The remains of all Animunculi were strewn across the metal floor. Only the occaisonal hissing of remains of steam pressure hint that the metal warriors had been moving moments ago.

After the clamour of battle receded, the clickety-clack of the stationary Dwemeri machinery became audible again.

The Centurion shook from the massive barrage of magicka from the former Nordic barmaid, hissed one last time, then collapsed.

The cries from the large Dwemeri tube did not stop and sounded even louder after the the noise of the fight had quieted.

Isidor jumps foward, and slams the Sphere with his axe. It rolls around, sparks flying. He kicks it in the back of the head, disabiling it.

Loranna took stock of the situation, her ears ringing; the Centurions were all destroyed, one still in a Nordic Bearhug. She lets go of her kill and pushes it away.

"That seems to be it," she says, the screams from inside the tube continuing unabated. "Golems down; you're safe now!" she calls out to the person in the tube, readying a Calm Humanoid spell if it's needed.

Loranna felt a stab of pity, feeling guilty about feeling pity immediately after. The man was clearly scared out of his wits. An overt Calm spell might not be the best choice right now; he was simply too scared and might take the spell as an attack.

"It's all right; you're safe now," Loranna says soothingly, weaving a subtle and unobtrusive charm spell into her voice as she had learned from watching Arynel numerous times. She backed away from the tube. "See? No one's going to hurt you now. We came to rescue you; your wife Ianca sent us to find you."

"...Ianca... sent you?"

There were more moments of silence following, it seemed as if the man in the tube was calming himself - or Loranna's spell took slowly effect.

After a while, a face could be seen in the tube as an Imperial of around fifty years crawled out. The figure wore tattered clothes.

"Ianca? Julianos bless her kind soul! She sent you? Thank you!", the man said as he rose up from his knees.

The Imperial, obviously Tenuvius, still was a bit shakey, so he sat down on the tube to steady himself.

"It's a long story...", he began.

"This Dwemer ruin might not seem remarkable - or better - it had not been remarkable until now. After that blasted mountain blew up - I have no idea why - there were some earthquakes, it seems and this earthquake opened a way into a hidden part of Aleft. The hired guard and I were able to clear that door - it took us the better part of a day - then we planned to investigate the ruin the next day. There were alot of Dwemer Animunculi standing there and they were not moving. It seemed to be something like a construction hall or whatever. Further down stood what seemed to be a weapon rack."

Tenuvius made a pause.

"I was delighted to inspect the undamaged Centurions more closely, but this stupid guard was curious enough to tamper with some levers in a corner. Long story short, all of these Animunculi came to life and that guard was pierced by those things faster than he could say 'Arkngthand'. He must lie down there still."

The scholar shivered at the thought. "I ran away, but they managed to circle around me. All I could do was hide in this tube... Well and the rest of the story, you can probably guess."

The Imperial looked a bit embarrased.

Loranna listens to the story, her eyebrows raising. "I see," she says. "This could be a breakthrough in Dwemer lore depending on what's down there; congratulations on your discovery Tenuvius."

She gives the scholar a kindly smile. "You're doubly blessed with both luck and a loving wife, sir; perhaps you should call it a day now though. It's getting on close to midnight."

"Yes, yes of course, it was fascinating!", the scholar said excitedly. "This has to be investigated further, though."

The Imperial looked around, saw the evidence of the fight with the constructs and a sad look crept over his face. "Couldn't you have at least left one intac... Uh, oh... I don't think that was appropriate, wasn't it?", Tenuvius said, clearly embarrased again. The scholarly curiosity had taken over for a moment.

Loranna chuckles. "You'd have been better served carrying a scroll of leaguestep in that situation," she says, giving Idisor a bit of a glance. "Speaking of the guard, he doesn't deserve being left behind to rot and his spirit to languish; I'll go get his corpse to bring back to Gnaar Mok for proper burial."

"My gruff friend does have a point though; it is best to be personally prepared."

"You should eat fast, my friend. Night fall on this coast doesn't make for the best company."

"Well, lads and lasses, our friend here" he gestures towards Tenuvius "mentioned some weapons and gems farther down in the ruin, so I'm going to go take a peek."

Isidor descends into the ruin and finds a rack of Dwemer weapons and a few gems, and other valuable things. Taking as much as he could carry, he returns to the group.

Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 02:08 AM

Loranna silently follows Isidor, walking somewhat slowly as she looks at the Dwemer architecture around her. The lines of the place weren't her idea of a lovely home but she could see a certain elegance in the place - with some looking. Still, she wouldn't mind looking at another Dwemer ruin someday, she decides.

Finding the chamber Tenuvius discovered, Loranna looks down at the preforated body of the guard; the poor guy had gotten pierced through from at least four different sphere centurions. Loranna frowns, saying a small prayer for the guard.

A look around with Isidor turns up some gems, a few pieces of scrap metal and other useful alchemical reagents, some Dwemer coins which Loranna finds interesting. The weapons she leaves, though she does admire the elegance of the blades; the others could make better use of those weapons.

Taking up the guard, she says "Let's get moving, everyone." The trip back to Gnaar Mok did not take too long, even with the burden of a scholar and a dead guard.

Summary: A local Wood Elf, by the name of Anya, is in Gnaar Mok. With a penchant for drinking a little more than she can handle, suffice to say she is more then clueless half the time. The other half is spent wondering Vvardenfell, hoping someone wouldn't hold the typical disdain for a wood elf, and would welcome her company.

She has amassed a few stories from this life, which she is more than willing to share. During one of these said trips, the person she was with died, leaving her a curious, light spear, which she could only percieve as a normal weapon. What came with it was a cliff racer that she could call when needed. Hardly a fighter, Lotus was more of another familar face to her than much else. She still found it odd that he was a light blue to this day, though.

IC: A loud noise brought Anya awake. Blurry eyed she attempted to familarize herself with the surrounding area again. As near as she could tell, she was in another bar. Luckily, her spear was still at her feet. One of these days, I probably will end up waking with it gone. she though to herself even as she brushed the thought aside.

Getting up, still slightly woozy from last night, gathering her things, she left the building. A quick wave of her hand brought Lotus back to her side. Wondering what today might possibly bring, she slung her spear across her back, and attempted recognize her surrounds. It was when she saw the sign 'Gnaar Mok' and the fishermen that she remembered the ruins she wanted to visit.

Gnaar Mok

Ianca and Tenuvius were full of joy seeing each other again and the couple found many pleasant words to thank the party. While they could not offer any payment, they promised to organize a proper burial for the Dunmer guard in the nearest temple. As they parted, they hinted that one of the huts was for rent and the companions stayed there for the night. It was surely not as amenable as residing in Ald Raathim, but it did shelter them from the rainfalls that night.

After a night without incidents, dawn began to cast its first rays over the Bitter Coast.

Like a whole pack worth of Werewolves with control. Or a sky full of angry Winged Twilights, commanded by a army of Azurites. Or A talking dog.....that gave me a dagger... he thought to himself. "Yeah....now that i think of it, it aint so weird," Reichi said, scratching the side of his head.

"We're here to raid some ruins."

"Well, it's a tad complicated. And I'm not sure I fully understand him either. I just know after Lotus became my companion, he's always there. As for blue, I don't get it either. Makes him easy to spot in a crowd though. My name is Anya, by the way. I am curious though, many don't readily offer their greetings to rogues, much less a rogue woodelf. What brings you you this, um, quaint town?" Anya offers the hasty explanation while outstretching her hand as well.

Hmm, thought Shaka. Up to "Hilga", but it sounds as if we might be able to get some daedric weapons or other artifacts. Might help the Lady's coffers...

Gnaar Mok

The hut was servicable, certainly better than the cold hard ground that she had been forced to sleep on on several occasions during the Blue Dawn. Loranna rose with the dawn and went out to stretch her legs a little.

She comes back just in time to hear a wood elf invoke the name of Azura, which brings an odd look to the face of the copper-braided, buxom and slightly plump Nord woman in robes and a cloak who walks up to the party.

" ... A blue cliff racer?" she mutters, looking at Isidor, Shaka, and Reichi questioningly. "And hail, Bosmer; how fare you?"

"Ah, so you've been to Addadshashanammu," Loranna says, the shrine name coming out slightly haltingly. "Pah; even the name is a testament to madness ..."

On the other hand, maybe she could be company for Falco, someone for him to regale with his tall tales...

A female Dunmer cleaning up from the rainfalls of last night was within earshot. She startled upon hearing "Loranna", then her eyes widened with recognition of the name. She made a protective gesture with her hand, muttered something unintelligible, then vanished behind her house.

Though she knew this wasn't typical reactions of average adventurer's, she tried to brush it aside for the free food and the thought of having some companions in the less than hospitable ruins.

Though it did cause her to raise this question. "Why exactly, my new friends, are you wanting to see these ruins?"

Normally, Anya would avoid a situation like this, she didn't care much for local authorities interfering with her. But she doubted that the gaurds would believe anything she might have said, and threw in the towel with these new aquaintances.

The party, with the help of Anya - and where Anya's memory failed her, Loranna's map - carefully approached the daedric ruins of Addadshashanammu. Stone walls, dark and twisted in design appeared out of the morning mist, marking the boundaries of the shrine. The boulders were aged and broken, but still, with some imagination, one could picture the shape of how those ruins must have looked like in the past. The shrine seemed to loom dreadfully between the trees. In the distance, several moving shapes could be seen and they were clearly not human.

Loranna notes the inhuman shapes, still too indistinct to make out clearly; not Dremora or Golden Saints then most likely, she thinks. Possibly Clanfear, or Hunger, or a Twilight ...

Fisrt things first; Loranna quietly casts a santuary spell on the party while they're still a bit away from the shrine. "All right; let's take this nice and easy; try to give me a chance to get the soul trap up," she says.

Loranna is already weaving her magic; a soft white light encircles the daedra closest to the party, including the three winged twilights.

"Lashki you're not ..." Loranna mutters at the descending Twilights, raising her hands again. Her party may need more support magic; she readies her fortify spells. The Hungers started casting their magics, and Loranna noted that her ice armor's bracers looked worn and damaged.

Good thing she brought repair tongs and hammers ...

Using her natural agility, Anya quickly bounded up a boulder to handle a winged twilight. Silently praying that Hilga would get the soul trap off soon, she bounded up, leaping, and impaled a twilight on her spear.

Landing gracefully, she turned around in time to see the twilight coming after her, soon joined by a sister. Strong little buggers. she though as she whirled her spear into a blur, charging in. Her natural speed and agility kept them at bay, but she was having a harder time landing serious damage.

Finally backing the first twilight into a boulder, she was able to score a kill, even while she bounded up the side of the boulder once more, hoping to level the playing field with the second and possibly third twilight.

Reichi cursed, waiting for the Twilight to get closer before jumping up, and thrusting both the Dagger of Senses and Bloodfang into the Daedra's chest.
The Twilight shrieked, both from the wounds inflicted the Bloodfang's enchantment stripping its' life away. Reichi and the Twilight both hit the ground and landed in a heap, only Reichi got up.

Agile minx, thought Shaka as he charged a hunger. Dodging its claws, he decapitated one with the double-bitted axe before chopping at a second with the backswing. Reaching behind his back, Shaka touched the Spear and called up a Storm Atronach.

Doing the only thing he can, he puts all of his power behind his left fist, and punches the saint in the face. The beast is stunned for a moment, and this gives Isidor a chance to grab his axe.

Yanking her spear out, she attempt to cripple it further on the other leg. Not realizing the speed which the Saints possesed as well, she was knocked back with a slash to the chest. Fortunatley her armor slowed it, but it was still ahrd enough to cut her.

Loranna was casting a spell to grant regeneration and increased strength to Isidor and Anya when the cloaked Breton shows up and downs a Saint with a kiss.

" ... I thought I was the one who went around kissing the bad guys," she mutters, throwing a soul trap on the Saint Anya is fighting and drawing her blade to parry the Golden Saint's longblade. With a smooth motion, she cuts the Golden Saint's arm, then moves in and grapples the Saint, easily knocking the blade from her hand as she absorbs her health.

Reichi saw the Saints and was going to incept one went he heard a unusual sound, the sound of claws on stonework. He whirled around in time to see the Hunger launch itself from the hunk of Daedric stonework it had scaled. Reichi backed out of the way, but wasn't fast enough, the Hunger landed on him and he had barely enough time to use the pommel of his Dagger to keep the Daedra from attempting to bite into his throat with it's disturbingly leech-like mouth.

The Hunger was knocked off Reichi by the force, but swung its' whip-like tail into Reichi, the spikes on the tail ripping into his greaves, and drawing blood. "N'wah," Reichi muttered angrility as he got up, and the Hunger moved to tackle him again. Reichi ducked, extended the arm holding Bloodfang.

The Hunger make a guttural sound as the blade passed through its midsection, looking down at the grinning Reichi, then the blade stabbed through itself, before falling back off the blade. He looked around and noticed the Saints weren't vanquished entirely.

" ... Welcoming committee met and thanked," she says, casting healing spells on everyone.  "Catch your breaths a bit while I harvest some hearts and salts ..."

"After helping me, you're welcome to do what you want." Anya remarked, flexing her arm and checking her side. Though it left a somewhat of a faint outline of where the wounds were, both felt better. Why did I not join the mage school when I had the chance. she mused.

Checking Lotus, she sent him on his way again, knowing cramped places weren't to his liking. She couldn't help but wonder if this was the norm for the group.

" ..." Loranna produces a wineskin with a cromberry draught, handing it to Isidor and looking to Anya. " ... Well, you say you like fruit, so I guess this will be okay for you," she says, still bemused at a Bosmer who ate fruit.

The Daedra had been harvested for their hearts and other alchemically-friendly remains, and the glass longswords tucked under Loranna's cloak.

" ... Shall we go inside now?" Loranna asks, double-checking her armor; the distintegrate spells hadn't damaged it too badly, it would be all right for another battle or two.

Me drinks the flask and promptly spits out "By the gods, what is this?" He hands it to Anya "It's all yours, Bosmer." He takes his axe and walks to the shrine door. "Let's get ready."

Loranna contemplates cromberry pie and reviews her plans for seducing the Dunmer into offering her sweetroll tributes.

Posted by: Arynel Yesterday, 04:35 AM

"Perhaps one of you would venture into the shrine itself," Arynel said, "or do you think adventure will come and sweep you up so readily?"

The Breton smiled slightly.

Shaka borrows the flin back from Anya for a slug, then backs up Isidor.

"Did you know that cromberries actually mix very well with flin? Me niether, till I forgot which was which one night. Thankee for your warm hearted kindness. And no worries, I have agility to spare."

Loranna renews the sanctuary spell - and tosses a restore attributes spell into the mix - before heading to the shrine door.

"Right; here we go," she says, hand on her sword as she opens the shrine door ...

From the entrance of the shrine a straight and rather broad corridor led down a few stairs and then opened into a hall lit by blueish light emanating from chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. Blue mist seemed to wash over the rims of the chandeliers, then dissipated in the humid air. The lighting was dim and flickering, yet the shapes of the statue that dominated the hall could be seen rather well. It was a tall, humanoid figure clad in a vest and breeches, with a walking stick in his hand.

Curled around the lower end of the walking stick lay a Khajiit, only barely clothed. Aside from this, the shrine was empty.

Isidor stands behind her, his axe drawn and ready to attack.

Arynel silently walked forwards, the sounds of his footsteps emanating a muffled noise which echoed throughout the hall, but was so low as to be hardly audible.

The Breton eyed the Khajiit, but did not speak.

Sheogorath, thought Shaka with some wonder. I never wanted to see another idol to him again, after getting the Spear.

Reichi stealthily proceeded closer to the sstatue weapons ready and drawn.
He watched the Khajiit with caution as he crept closer.

Posted by: Nalion Yesterday, 04:43 AM

As the party came closer to the statue, they could see a chest placed between it's legs. The party could see that the Khajiit was female, and she still was curled around the walking stick. Her tail twitched and they could hear her mumbling.

"A stick that makes click or just tick on a brick but with a trick it can prick if it's thin but if it's thick it makes *thunk* like a chunk of a trunk, what a hunk! But it dunk then it sunk in the lake did not brake t'was no fake..."

Taking a cue from the others, Anya hefted her spear. Experience taught that the unexpected should be expected where daedra were concerned. She silently prayed that nothing more exciting would prove to happen soon.

Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 04:44 AM

Loranna gives the statue a brief glance, thinking to herself that Tales and Tallows is only a few months away.

Seeing the Khajiit, and her friends approaching, she moves forward, eyes scanning the shrine.

Cultist? Victim? Simple wanderer who took shelter from the Daedra outside? Loranna approaches the Khajiit carefully, looking the beastman over with her healer's eye.

Loranna looks to Arynel and Reichi, her expression curious. She clears her throat.

Shaka felt pity as he approached the Khajiit. Another holy fool.....

“Hello,” the Breton said.

The Suthay-raht Khajiit began to merrily dance around the group, chuckling to herself and singing in a high-pitched voice.

"Come and hear the voices sing,
Stay your weapons, silly toad!
You're not here for spells to sling,
When you walk the golden road!"

"What brings you here, if Alira may ask?
Seeking treasures, glimm'ring bright?
Or are you here to do a task?
Or out of whim, to start a fight?

Well, that answered one question, Loranna thinks.

Arynel stood upright after Alira finished her song, and then the Breton spoke in ritualistic verse:

Coalescing as fragments of memory

Lyre sound the song of
My voice

Arynel paused, and then spoke, "who are you?"

For the moment, the Breton said nothing else.

The Khajiit cocked her head curiously at Arynel and stopped her dancing around. Still, her eyes gleamed and she was still axious. She cocked her head and looked into the Breton's eyes. Then she smiled.

You'll get it if you play my game, insane, no blame, no shame, no pain, no gain..."

Shaka was silent for the moment. You have nothing I want, except the chance to help repay Loranna, he thought.

A small part of him that had been touched by Sheogorath long ago wanted to join in the dance.

Shaka nodded to her. "Lead and we shall follow. I took a quest from Sheogorath long ago that gave me this Spear, almost getting myself killed; I don't think lightning can strike twice."

"This reminds me of this old Dunmer I was traveling with once. Found a crazy High Elf in some Dwemer ruins. He wanted to play some game as well. So we decided to play, as both of us needed the loot for money. It's a rather long story, involving apples, centurions, and levers, but I don't remember most of it. Yeah, the dunmer died in that game." Anya shifted slightly at the memory. "So, let's play."
