Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight
Posted by: Nalion Jul 10 2005, 05:17 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and
discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using
this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look
http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!
------
Summary
The party currently is in the daedric shrine of Addadshashanammu in the
Bittercoast Region. Inside the shrine, they have met a Khajiit named Alira, who
has proposed to play a little game if the party want to have the treasure of
this shrine.
------
Alira looked at the party with glinting eyes, she seemed neither disturbed not
frightened by their weapons and armour.
"Here's what Alira gives, carefully listen to it,
Because if you won't, you'll see the opposite."
"A riddle it is,
She wants to taste the solution,
To her it is bliss,
Or just an illusion?"
"Just the deed here will count,
The spoken word will not do,
Take this in account,
When you seek the clue, true?"
"So listen with care to my sweet little voice,
Think hard and then you can show me your choice!"
Alira clapped her hands in anticipation, then continued the sing-sang in her
high voice.
"Charming rogues steal me, (but I'm never their own)
And some ladies deal me, (after that they may moan)
The shy ones conceal me, (so I should not be known)
Opened curtains reveal me, (sometimes more can be shown)"
Alira stops in her chanting for a moment as if she had a thought.
"Alira thinks this little bit is enough,
Although she wonders if the riddle's too tough,
Now you can show that you can be witty!
If you fail though, she'll reveal another 'lil bit-y!"

OOC Summary: Wood Elf Rogue named Anya
is following a group for no other reason than it's something to do at the
moment. Plus the air of mystery causes her to want to see more.
IC: Anya listened intently. After the song was done, she realized she
didn't catch a word she said. Standing up straight, she hoped one of the more
scholary types would be able to distingiush the words. This Hilga character
seemed smart enough, or maybe the Breton newcomer.
Since not much else could be said, Anya finished off the Flin she had earlier.

"A riddle," Arynel said nonchalantly, "Would
anyone like to try a guess?"
The Breton waited.

their excursion to vvardenfel, and is in a Daedric Shrine with a name that's
diffuculty to pronouce is rivalled only by the danger of its' guardians...

"Love?" Reichi asked, after some thought.

"We are required to perform an action, I believe,"
Arynel said, as the Breton listened to the others guess, "though I could
be mistaken."

Alira seemed to smile at the given answers, but made no move to
say whether they were correct or not. She pursed her lips scratched her head,
then sang again.
"It's the sweetest magick fruit,
The lone one though will just taste naught,
To eat it you'll have to recruit,
Yet while tasting, you can't talk.
This fruit, it truly locks your jaws,
It's mad, it's joy, it's not real food,
One thing is sure, if one withdraws,
The other's joy is gone for good."

Loranna considers for a moment, then pushes some stray hairs away from her

"Well ... what about this?" she says, walking up to Alirla to kiss

Tell me, do you like your feet?"
Then she ran off, laughing.

Gradually, the effect of the Lover's Kiss wore off, at least enough for Loranna
to speak; she was happy she hadn't gone for a full kiss.
"And so the Lover is felled by her own Kiss," she says, "and we
are left with an open chest by one who knows where we walked. ... I say, could
one of you see what's in there? I still can't quite feel my legs."

"I would like to meet her again," Loranna says. "I need to
practice riddling more, and .. .well, she's proof that Khajiit are the best
kissers in Tamriel, next to Nord women."
She winks, then reaches into the chest and pulls out a pair of anklets, with
silver bells attached.
" ... They're pretty," she says, looking them over carefully. "I
shall have to try them out later."

"Hrmm..." Reichi walked over to the chest, thinking
over Arynel's words. For once, he understood the words of the Breton. He
reached into the chest, and pulled out a Helmet that sparkled with enchantment.
The helmet was similar to a Ordinator's, it had the face of Dunmer man, but it
lacked a mohawk, and it was a metallic silver. A sentence in Daedric was
inscribed on the back. It read: Protection for one with two faces
Reichi grinned. "I think i know what this can do," he said.

Anya decided to reach in. After taking a breif glance, she knew
exactly what she wanted. Reaching in she grabbed the Glass Curaiss. Marvaling
at the beauty, for she had only been able to glimpse it once before, she
quickly tried it on.
"It's so light." she remarked. "And much better range of
movement than chitin. I think I'm in love. This has been a worthy endeaver
indeed."

Isidor walked to the chest and looks inside. He sees but two
items left. He grabs a vial, the mixture inside, a mystery.

Summary
Nalion, male Breton mage, is staying at the castle of Ald Raathim. He's so far
busied himself with walking in the garden or the surrounding fields, right now,
though, he's enjoying a poetry book in Ald Raathim's library.

Shaka reluctantly approached the chest and took one of the last
items. It was a leather-bound book with gilt lettering on the spine. The title
read: "The Legacy of Shaka".
He turned to the first page, but found it and all other pages were blank. After
a moment, the book faded away.
Shaka returned to the others with a wry smile. Tell me something I don't
already know, he thought.
"I already had a gift from Sheogorath, in the Spear," he told them.
"I can hit the road whenever you're ready."

Slyvos was still in the back a bit, his tail swaying a bit still
from seeing Loranna kiss that khajiit.
yup, I'm not the only nutty one around here.
Posted by: syronj Jul 10 2005, 11:16 PM
Shaka said to Anya, "Congratulations on the Glass armor. These greaves
have served me well for years."
The battlemage glanced at "Hilga". When Loranna had kissed the
Sheogorath cultist, Shaka had had to look away after a second. It brought back
too many memories of his time with Ahanassi, good memories though they were.
It's been a long time, he mused.
He looked over the daedric architecture while he stood and waited for the
group's decision on leaving. As with all such shrines, it was disturbing in its
irrational angles and curves. A hint of the alien mindset of the ancients who
had built it, and the cultists who were drawn to such places. . . . In growing
numbers after the fall of the Tribunal, unfortunately.
So Sheogorath liked to mock him with the knowledge that Shaka would leave no
legacy? Shaka already knew that when he died, it would be (to quote some writer
whose name he had forgotten) as if he had never lived.

"Why thank you." Anya was still testing the flexability, and to a
lesser extent, the durability. "Now I see why so many enjoy this armor.
Now only if it cam in matte black. This reflective glass only hinders someone
when they don't wish to be seen by... uh... local authorities."

OOC Summary: Jone, who has traveled to Vvardenfell in search of
any signs of the family that abandoned him, is utterly lost somewhere in the
Bitter Coast.
"Damn this rain," Jone muttered to himself. It was difficult enough
to walk through the mud and muck, but his leather satchel was now getting
weighed down with water. Through the fog he saw the outline of a structure up
ahead and decided to wait out the rain there. Upon reaching the structure,
however, he realized it wasn't the best idea anymore. It was a Daedric shrine,
just like countless others he'd seen and been warned about. Jone was a more
than capable spellsword, but he was drained physically and mentally. He wasn't
ready for the worst, if that's what awaits him.
"I have to get out of this rain, even for just a few hours. I knew I
shouldn't have pawned my blade..." Jone cursed himself for his skooma
addiction and stood at the door to the shrine, trying to decide if it was
prudent to enter.

Loranna had looked over at Slyvos and smiled at him, offering a

suggested she and Slyvos ought to talk later that night. She already had a
perfect opening line of conversation planned, and couldn't wait to indulge it
...
While the others were taking their gifts, Loranna examined her worn ice
bracers; sitting down on the statue's pedestal, she removed her gauntlets, put
on a pair of gloves, and effected some field repairs to undo the damage done by
the Hungers' spells. She hums very quietly to herself as she works.
Pausing a moment, she replies to Anya "You could try talking to a
professional armorer about what you could use to recolor that armor. Either
that or wear it under a robe." She opens her own robe to reveal the
gold-trimmed ice cuirass she's wearing.
"Very useful things, robes," she grins.
Her bracers on the mend, Loranna asks "So ... what now, friends?"

taken from the chest, but he had a feeling it wouldn't be a mundane one.
"Falco," he said in a warning tone, "This isn't a hazing ritual
for the Bosmer is it, lad?"

Falco noticed the Bosmer looking at his new bottle of brandy. He
spoke to her, something he had not done since she joined, "Care for a
bottle of Cyrodillic brandy? You must be thirsty from the fight."
Looking at the Argonian, she smiled, "I'd love a drink. I haven't tasted
Cyrodillic Brandy since an Imperial scholar hired me to help him study some
ruins out in the Grazelands."
Slightly puzzled as to why Falco choose now to speak to her, she brushed it
aside, as many were cautious these days. She accepted a small drink, relishing
the thought of having some after so long.

there was some sort of ulterior motive?"

Anya glanced at the bottle as Falco put it away. She couldn't
help but want it. This is neither the time, nor the place. she though, I'll
keep myself in check with my friends, but a drink does sound good.
"The mainland? I've never been anywhere but Vvardenfell. I don't know. I
mean, what's it like? I guess I could. I mean, I've been to almost everywhere
on Morrowind." Anya quickly realized she was rambling at this sudden offer.
Quickly smiling, she answered. "Sure, I'd like to see the mainland."
Loranna smiles. "Ald Raathim is a nice place; young and growing, former
refugees who survived the Blue Dawn and are making a home for themselves,"
she says.
She gathers up her things, making sure her new bell-spangled anklets are
securely tucked away. She was eager to try dancing with them even knowing where
they came from ...
The weather had turned rainy while the party was riddling and resting; the
constant prattle of raindrops made it hard to hear the sounds of Vvardenfell.
Loranna raises the hood of her cloak to ward off the rain, and casts a couple
spells to aid the party's speed and agility, so they don't need to spend so
much time in the rain.
Eventually, the shrine Ashalmimikala looms in front of them, on a small strip
of land much like the former shrine Addadshashanammu, and proving just as hospitible-looking
and as pronouncable. The party discovers that someone else seems to have been
looking at the shrine as well ...
Jone, by now, has come to discover that the shrine is housing four Dremora, all
armed with Dwarven or Daedric weapons. They all give the beleagured traveler a
chilling smile, before one says " ... A hunt we shall have today, my
brothers. Let us hope this one provides good sport, no?"
Laughing, he kicks at Jone. "Run, mortal; we will give you five seconds

Bloody hell, thought Shaka. He gestured in a mudra of power and spoke the
words, "Bound Mace". Shaka started for the dremora at a dead run.
An obsidian-colored, jagged edge mace formed in his right hand. He swung it
experimentally; it was as light as a feather, but deadlier than Ebony.

adventures who appeared behind him. His thoughts were completely on the Dremora
and he didn't notice their approach. Relieved to have companions, of whatever

Reichi had put on his new helmet to keep his head from the rain,
though he did find that another downside to the wolf fur armor of his was that
the rain had just made it rather damp. Nevertheless Reichi still clutched his
weapons, and was more than ready for this shrine. Making a mental note to find
out if there was more armor like his helmet. At least that didn't get damp.
Seeing the Dremora a wicked grin makes its' way across Reichi's face, hidden by
the emotionless face of the helmet. He rushed towards the Dremora, swinging
both weapons at the nearest one.

Shaka chose the nearest Dremora and charged. He could make out the red and
orange patches near the eyes of the Dremora, who in many ways resembled a
dunmer, but with skin darker than any Redguard or dunmer. The Dremora was
wielding a one-handed daedric axe.
Shaka hurdled the last few yards to the Dremora and swung. Their weapons
clashed, but Shaka's was far lighter and thus faster. While Shaka parried the
Dremora's axe, a part of him noted the great strength of the creature.

Releasing Lotus once more, she unslings her spear, hoping that it will hold out

The Dremora was fast, however, and Shaka's Spear was parried by the axe before
he could strike home. Shaka balanced on his rear foot for a moment and spun the
Spear in an arc. He could see the Dremora was distracted as the Spear flickered
in Time.
Shaka timed his lunge. The Dremora finally swung at Shaka, who stepped to the

Shaka watched to see how the others were faring . . . .

muttering "I always liked Wood Elves; they make such a pleasant sound when

Looking towards the one that had mentioned her, Anya raised her spear and
charged. She feignted at the last moment, using a rock to rebound behind the
Dremora.
She noted that while he wasn't quite as fast as the Saints, he was rather
strong. Trying to focus more on deflecting than parrying, she back up to a
rocky formation, where she knew she could get the upper hand.
A missed parry caused the Dremora to slash at her side. Feeling the hard hit,
Anya was still pleased that the Glass Curaiss held better than any other armor
she had worn. The slash did get to her thigh, and while it wasn't deep, did
hender her a bit.
Jumping back, she parried a third heavy slash, but was more than slightly
dismayed when she heard a creak run through her spear. Hoping to seize the
Dremora's strength to her advantage, she back up to a large boulder, appearing
slowed and defensless.
As the Dremora rammed forward to pierce her, she nimbly dodge to the side,
which cause the Dremora to shatter the Dwarven Spear head, as his force didn't
allow for quick movements. Anya quickly skwered the Dremora, but cursed when
she saw that her spear head had broken inside it.
Visibly slowed by the greivous wound, the Dremora still tossed his broken spear
aside and charge Anya, hand to hand, grinning wildly as he knew the advatage
was his once more.

The Dremora fighting Reichi notes that two of his companions are

"Let's see if you're as skilled ... cur!."
With a ferecous punch, he swings at Reichi's jaw before ducking and swiping for

shapes - Clanfears and a Twilight - run out from the shrine, seeing the party

Three Clanfears, seeing Jone as he comes into visibility again, make for the

Shaka spun to face the Twilight, seeing an odd combination of voluptuous woman

appeared in one of her eyes. With an ear-splitting shriek, the Twilight
continued to swoop down.
Shaka switched the Spear from his left claw to his right, and waited a moment
longer .... The Twilight was within range, and he hurled the Spear. It
flickered as it flew, one moment invisible, the next shining in the sun.
The Twilight screamed as she clutched at the Spear of Bitter Mercy, but it had

Shaka got to his feet, his heart fairly bursting with adrenalin, but the

"Forgive me for my manners. Call me Jone. As
for Ferrous? I don't know who he is..." Jone swoons, still weak from
the fight. "Excuse me while I take a moment." Hilga turns
to the rest of the group and he lets his thoughts consume him.
Realizing he's reached a turning point in his search, Jone finds a seat on a
broken pillar away from the group. He's been gone for two years now, with
nothing to show for it. He clutches his father's dagger in his hand,
letting his fingers run along the engraving on the handle: FERR. A
part of him wanted to continue on alone, as he set out to do, but seeing as his
life was just saved by this band of strangers, he felt indebted to them.
Distraught, he does what has become his habit. From his bag he takes out
his skooma pipe, dulled and chocked with resin from constant use...
Loranna pokes her head into the shrine, saying "One moment everyone
..." She disappears into the shrine.
A few moments later, she comes back, holding a couple more ebony weapons in her
hands and shrugging. "Well, no other Daedra inside," she says with a
bit of a grin. "Fairly big place; some spots it'd help to be able to
levitate to check out ..."
She notices an odd smell, and frowns. " ... What's that?" she asks,
trying to place it. It smelt like moon sugar a little.

She could see Falco and Isidor charging the unknown sniper; she raises her

the land I remember, he thought, and felt only sorrow.

The rain had stopped, but Loranna's mood was quiet, equal parts
somber and contemplative. She wonders if Falco might not be right, that Plaas
might simply try to kill her again at some point, rather than let go of the
past and seek a new life for himself. She wonders also, for a moment, what Lord
Minsero would say; her words about wondering if she'll know when to be necessarily
ruthless return to her.
She puts such thoughts out of her mind as the tiny village of Hla Oad comes
into view; Plaas would do what he would do, and if he tried to kill her again
she would deal with him then. No need to worry about what she couldn't control,
just remember to be cautious and alert. In the meantime, she had learned a lot
about her new companions; she'd have never thought she'd hear about Isidor's
past or Falco's in these circumstances. Such was the way of the world,
sometimes.
Her Hilga disguise renewed, Loranna looks over Hal Oad as the party draws near
the small village; it was slightly smaller than Gnaar Mok, thus escaping the
Azurite's wrath as had the earlier village, and in many ways the fishing
community looked as run down as did Gnaar Mok - but there was a seedy feel to
this place that the previous town lacked. Gnaar Mok was tired and beat up; Hla
Oad was grimy and furtive ...
Memories of the beginning of the Blue Dawn pop up in Loranna's mind, of the
fire and Aricyn, and the boat ride to Ald Raathim, herself feeling so empty and
young. She smiles, and goes to the docks, leaving her companions to find what
rest and entertainments they could in this town.

How did this happen?
Anya though. Of all the people I run into. I need a drink.
Anya spots the trading post and heads over. With a look a perusing the goods,
she spots a cupboard full of drinks. That will do nicely.
Waiting for the shopkeeper to become distracted with another person, she slipped
a drink into her pack. She continued this several minutes, until she thought
she had enough to keep her busy.
Sneaking off to the swampy area right next to Hla Oad, Anya started to drink
while she thought about what she had learned. When she noticed the last of the
drink gone, Anya stumble back to rejoin the others, still wondering if she knew
what was truly going on.

Isidor was contemplating what had unfolded, and he walked right
into a Dunmer. "Oi, sorry, Dunmer." The Dunmer grimaced at him and
said "Watch yourself, moron." Isidor glared at him, but walked
foward, he had not time for this. "I thought you nords were big fighters,
not big cowards." Isidor stopped cold in his tracks.

Anya stumbled up as she heard the dunmer insult her companions.
"Lishen here, n'hah." She spoke up. "You better run off to your
hut afore I whip you a good 'un."

Shaka had always heard the coast was a cesspit of smugglers and small-time
thugs, so this squabble didn't come as a surprise. "Iz, you and I both
know you have nothing to prove as far as bravery goes."
"Pardon me, serjo," he said to the dunmer, and started to walk past
him, trying to look like a meek lizard. As he passed the drunk, Shaka measured
his spine with a glance and jabbed his middle right knuckle into a certain
place near the dunmer's neck, remembering the lessons from the assassin
Kethiah.
The dunmer stiffened, his eyes uncomprehending, before crumpling to the dock.
"This clown will be out for a few minutes," said Shaka. "There's
some as would push him into the water to drown, but that's not my way. Let's
get some mead."
"Lo, Anya," he said, noticing the Bosmer for the first time.
"Maybe you should call it a night . . . ." he added when he saw her
eyes.

For the first time in a couple of days, Shaka found a smile. "Friendly little
town you elves have here."
Shaka gestured a mudra and spoke the words of power for Bound Dagger. For
Shaka, the dagger manifested itself as a punch dagger.
An obsidian daedric blade appeared in Shaka's left hand, its handle a bar
across his palm. Hopefully he wouldn't have to use it this night.

Shaka sighs. He didn't really want to have to explain to what passed for local
authority why they had killed some thugs. He uttered other words of power and
froze the dunmer with the Lover's Kiss spell, the green ball-lightning playing

Falco, like Anya had "acquired" a drink from the local
tavern. He finished it and noticed the Dunmer with a sword to Isidor's neck.
Well, well, well, look what we have here a cowardly little Dunmer who thinks he
can handle Isidor. Isidor, don't worry I've spent a lot of time in towns like
this. This guy may talk big but he's a coward. One show of strength should take

From a safe distance away another argonian rouge studies the group. Is
that Falco Redflash I see? So the little fetcher survived the Blue Dawn. He
seems to be in the company of some rich people judging by their weapons. Knowing
Falco he's stolen most everything they have already. Perhaps he'd once again be
willing to join our little group. If not then we'll just finish him to.
The argonian rouge gets a little closer and catches the words "too Ald
Raathim then!" from Falco. Ald Raathim eh? Well then I'll just get the
crew together and pay Falco Redflash, me old pal a little "visit" in
Ald Raathim.
He heads off to find the other members of his little group.
