The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight

Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 10:39 PM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

"I did tell you not to worry about being disappointed, didn't I?"

He waited until the room had cleared to continue. "Her majesty would like Goranthir to become part of your group, Loranna. She thinks it would be good for him."

A thoughtful look comes to her face. "Dram has been asking Thom to train some of the guards in wilderness skills; after the latest vampire attack he felt we needed more ranger types for Ald Raathim ..."

She looks at Goranthir. "What experience do you have with adventuring, dear?" She pauses, then adds in a lower tone " ... And, um, how likely would your parents be to jump on me if something bad happened ..."

"I believ I have not yet introduce myself. I am Falco Redflash. But I fear I must apologize to you already. Ahjaar, I'm sorry about your daughter, and your husband. I'm sure he was a good man. Loranna looks concerned, but smiles nonetheless. "Tris is right," she says. "If you're here, seeking adventure, then you belong here. Far be it from me to tell a young, dreaming youth not to follow their dreams."

"Just, do be careful; the first step to becoming a truly great adventurer is in recognizing your own limits," she says. "I've fought with everyone going on this rescue mission; they're all good people, even if Falco is exasperating at times. And Isidor too."

She looks over and adds "Oh and that Tris fellow - he's the worst. He'll smile at a lass and make them fall in love without even trying and then - bam! Off he goes to get into trouble, just because. Terrible, terrible I tell you."

"He's not here to work in the guard, Loranna; he's one of us, like it or not. So we should probably get used to the idea."

Anya was grateful when the servant arrived and told her Loranna requested help, though it sounded like plenty had already gathered, and she wasn't in the best of shape to go adventuring. She just wanted to go out and collect her thoughts, the nightmares bearing down on her again.

Standing up, Anya gave the captain a kiss on the cheek, "It was nice to meet you, and to see such fine archery. Your tales were interesting to hear too, despite your modest story-telling. I need to go though, I hope we can sit down again before you leave with your Queen."

Picking up her armor from the smith, and leaving a generous sum of coins, she equipped her now matte black and green Glass Curaiss. Much better for avoiding detection.

She picked a direction, and began walking. Her path taking her into the woods. Lotus appeared a moment later when she entered the tree line. "Oh dear, I forgot I didn't release you, though I suppose you didn't mind the exersice. Tell me, what could she have meant, I never left anyone, why would she say that?"

She continued down the woods confused and scared, her face still passive, grateful for her silent company.

Tris's nostrils flared. If they hadn't been about to head off, he would have found the ranchers himself. But Loranna could handle her own people. That was new. The Loranna he had first met was a timid girl who wouldn't talk back to anyone.

So let me just say this: when you risk your life with a group of people, you may get someone killed. I've sworn to protect you; you could get me killed. I'm fast, but not invulnerable. Remember that."

He ruffled the red-gold hair. "See you on the boat."

So let me just say this:  when you risk your life with a group of people, you may get someone killed. I've sworn to protect you;  you could get me killed. I'm fast, but not invulnerable. Remember that."

He ruffled the red-gold hair. "See you on the boat."

"Thank you, I'll never forget that you gave me this chance," Goranthir smiled, and embarrassed, realized that he needed to wipe a tear from his eye. He did so quickly and then ran off down the corridor. "I'll see you at the ship!"

Ahjaar sat on the deck, watching the waves slap the boat, waiting for the others to bored. Thoughts plagued her mind, mostly bad.

What if Luxi was sold?
What if we can't find the group?
What if Luxi is-

No, she didn't dare think that.

She fiddled with an arrow, rolling it in her palms, trying to not think about Luxi. She closed her eyes and cryed.

She just wanted her daughter back.

"Right; three days of alit jerky, four bottles of brandy - one fer meself - saltrice and hackle ho and nix jerky and potions for restoring health, restoring magicka, restoring fatigue, curing poison and disease, making yourself hard to see, and one bottle of Telvanni Bug Musk. Plus some gold for operating expenses and one more bottle of filn for me."

"Too bad you ain't going to Suran," the captain winks. "We cast off mateys! Off to Dagon Fel!"

Goranthir hurried his way down to the ship. Full ebony mail, daedric dai-katana. His grandmother had dressed him for his first day adventuring.

“This is really embarrassing,” he thought to himself.

The first thing she wanted to do was go to her house.

Loranna listens to Dram's report. "They were a little outraged at having to pay up over a 'snippity newcomer with less sense than the damn alits he was trying to keep alive', and they grumbled a lot about food being taken off their tables, but the ranchers have been made to understand the error of their ways, my Lady. They paid their fines and the situation is resolved." He hesitates a moment. "I understand the young man can speak to animals ..."

"Yes, he can," Loranna says, reading Dram's expression. "He's here to be an adventurer, not a guard, though."

Dram nods. "A pity; we could use some more people with wilderness skills. The ranchers say the alits have been giving them trouble for a little bit now ..."

"We're working on it, trust me dear," Loranna says. "Thank you for your prompt work, Dram."

Dram bows lightly. "My job, my Lady; that is all for now to report."

"Very well; return to your duties, dear." Dram bows and leaves, as Loranna scratches her chin. Thom had left for a while; she wondered who else could train her guards in wilderness skills ...

Ald Raathim, the previous night

Nalion had slept long and took his time to rest and think. Many thoughts raced through his head, about Doll, his task, his friends here and in Solunastra and ... wherever.

Now though while walking through the castles towards the tower where Loranna's study was located, he focused on the task ahead.

The Breton climbed the stairs of the tower and past Loranna's study. As he arrived at the top, he sqeezed though a small trap door leading outside. Moving towards a merlon, he placed his hands firmly onto the cold stone. It was a cold night and the castle was quiet. The guards dutifully patrolled on the battlements below.

Nalion looked skywards. It was a clear night and the stars sparkled like gems on a black velvet dress. On closer investigation though, as if a woman would hold that dress against the light streaming though a window, one would find that this dress was in truth ragged, with holes all over it through which bright daylight shined. A dress called Oblivion.
Nalion deeply breathed in the fresh cool air and began to patiently watch the sky. He knew not what he was looking for, but he would know when he saw it.

"I'm still trying to learn more about Morrowind's politics," Loranna admits. "I respect the value of Dunmer traditions; your people have achomplished incredible things, Your Majesty, and I wish to add to that, not detract from it. But I do admit, for all the good the House system may have brought, there is a lot of animosity that seems pointless."

"You're right; a few sweet words won't erase it all, and maybe for Morrowind the Houses should continue to exist - we live in the Arena, after all. But my thoughts run more in line with yours on this matter."

"And, to be honest - Dunmer traditionalists, espeically in my own House, won't see me as much of an ally anyway," she says. "I'm not an abolitionist but I'm not about to change how we do things here, just to be complaint with the Dunmer traditions, and slaves who seek asylum here will still find me sympathetic."

"Either way, I'm looking at conflict, am I not?" Loranna asks, smiling a little.

Summary: From Part 10-

Rymlin looked around as the guards got to work carting off the corpses of the vampires. He watched silently as Loranna and her brigade left the forest, returning to the warmth of their respective homes. As the last bodies faded from view, Rymlin cast a spell of detect enchantment and began his search. Feeling around mentally, Rymlin came across a small item hidden under some brush. Picking it up, he gazed at it in a ray of moonlight. "There you are, I was hoping they would drop this." said Rymlin, tucking the amulet into his robe. He continued to search through the forest for small trinkets and weapons dropped during the struggle.

---Some Time Later---

Rymlin walked into town, and seeing how all the lights were off, decided to let himself into his room. He lit a lamp on the desk with a small spell, and set out his collection on the bed. Sorting out an enchanted dagger, two swords, a nearly full quiver of arrows, and several amulets and rings, Rymlin smiled to himself. "This should fetch a few drakes." he said, piling the weapons in a corner and placing the jewelry in his desk. "I'd best get some rest" said Rymlin, snuffing out the lamp and undressing himself.

---Next Day---

Rymlin walked over to the clothing shop he found the previous day, and sold off all his goods. counting out the gold from his sales on his desk. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5-thousand drakes." said Rymlin, placing the coin in his purse. "This should last for a bit." said Rymlin, tieing the purse to his belt. Rymlin walked out of his room, and sat down at the bar. "A glass of Flin" said Rymlin, feeling quite satisfied with himself.

---Several Days Later---

Rymlin woke up and prepared to set out to the Mage's Guild like usual. He donned his now-uniform black robes, and equipped himself with several rings and amulets. Placing an old daedric dagger in his belt, he left the in and began his way to the guild. Looking over to the port, he noticed Isidor climbing onto a boat at sea. "He's got more profit to him than this guild, I think I'll see what he's up to." said Rymlin, feeling in his pocket for the amulet he picked up from the forest. "Yes, I think I'll follow him." Rymlin boarded the ship, payed the boatman and det on his way to Dagon Fel.

---The Next Day---

Rymlin arrived at Dagon Fel, and decided to follow the group to find the enslaved girl.

OOC: For the sake of expedience, we'll say he's with everyone now.

IC: Rymlin is looking around, all his seeker speels activated. Suddenly, he points with one tattoed hand to a spot in the cliff. "There it is, that's our cave" he says, his outstretched finger aimed at a spot of rock.

The rock Rymlin pointed to looked ordinary. It was part of a rather steep hill to the east of Dagon Fel. The ground around that hill was rocky and only very little grass was present. All over the hill, vines were hanging down to the bottom. Behind them, only solid rock could be seen.

"I hope so too," Loranna says, her expression becoming earnest. "Allie is ... I owe my life and my freedom from Azura to a great many people, Your Majesty, Allie included, and the thought of being opposed to her over politics ..." She grimaces. "It'd break my heart; I'd be no good to anyone in that situation."

She pauses a moment. "I get the feeling I'm being more open than I ought to be; I really ought to learn to avoid that," she says. "I would like to think that you, the New Temple, and I could work together; I think I'd be doing my House the greatest service by helping to turn Ald Raathim into a strong city, allied with the throne."

"She watches Barenziah's hair flutter in the wind for a moment, seemingly entranced.

" ... Is this enough to declare ourselves allies then, Your Majesty? Or should we both wait until we know where you stand with the New Temple?" she asks.

Goranthir had been talking to a squib about hidden entrances, but the creature did not seem particularly talkative about any subject except his interest in finding something to eat.

The young ranger, when he saw the entrance open, ran to join the group, sword drawn, ready for action.

As the group entered, the vines moved, and inside, the ring of a bell can be heard. A loud ring.

However, the ones who were first to enter could get a good glance at the scene.
The mine had a convenient access to the sea on the right side, a half-natural, half mer-made tunnel lead northwards and out into the ocean. A wooden walkway led to a longboat of nordic fabrication. Ath the back of the mine was what seemed like a small hidden warehouse. Many crates were stacked upon each other, some seemed to be ready for shipment and being loaded onto the longboat by several ragged, but well armed men and mer.

To the left, several galleries led into the mine. Faint light could be seen glimmering in the depths. Cries and moans hollowly echoed from the tunnels, only broken by the hideous sounds of cracking whips. One needed no great imagination of what was going on down there, especially when regarding the iron cages at the entrance to the galleries.

A commanding dark figure overviewed the whole proceedings, shouting orders in a harsh voice. His red eyes gleamed eerily in the dim light of the mine. He was clad in dark armour, obviously made of the material that was being mined here: ebony. At his side hung a ebony long blade.

As the bell rang, though the armed men stopped working turned and looked at them, hands on the hilts of their half-drawn weapons. Some smugglers on guard duty even had crossbows and the bolts were pointing directly at the companions.

"Hankarlic! Intruders!", one of the guards shouted. The man in the armour responded and quickly turned around to see where the guard was pointing at. His hard Dunmeri features were distorted into an angry snarl.

A cloaked figure stands near the Dunmer in armor; hood pulled up over their head, body covered to the point where it is difficult to tell whether the person is male or female, moving with even less sound than one would expect ...

The cloaked figure reacts quickly, drawing an adamantium blade in one hand, and drawing forth a couple of throwing daggers in the other. The throwing knives leave the figure's hand with a deft motion, the hand that tossed them glowing with magicka and the daggers speeding with unnatural quickness at the first people into the mine.

As powerful as an invisibility spell was, it offered no protection to one in the path of a thrown weapon, whatever the target of the thrower. So it was that one of the throwing knives was headed towards Arynel, but was off side, and the Breton moved, catching it in his cloak so that it harmed no one behind him.

The sudden movement caused his invisibility spell to fizzle, but he cast a new one.

Tris had been wondering how long he could go without using any of his techniques. Now seemed to be the time.

Ash looks around, his tattooos glowing under his robes. Inside his body he feels a chill so deep he can't help but start to laugh. As he laughs maniacally, he breaks his illusion by throwing his robe in front of him. The garment bursts into bright flames and falls into the water, where it continues to burn until it is fully consumed. A bandit rushes the now glowing Mer. Ash, focusing his hatred to this one Bosmer, feels the rogue's dagger penetrate his shoulder. Grabbing the small elf's neck with one red and ashen hand, he holds the rogue aloft, draining the life from his body. The mer's grip loosens on the dagger, his body now limp and lifeless. Tossing him aside, Ash moves to the next. He hands glow red, and soon the smuggler is consumed in flames, his flesh blistering in the intense heat. As he dives into the water, Ash freezes his feet, while burdening his body, forcing him to lay suspended in the water, slowly drowning. Lastly, he chells the water around the smuggler, keeping it slightly above freezing.

Falco raised his saber to cleave the man in two. He was prepared to kill this filth, but he knew it wrong to take a defenseless life. He backhanded the man.

"Where are the keys to the slave chains? Where!?"

The Dunmer man pulled a ring of keys from his belt. Falco looked to his right. The slaves had followed them there. They stood unblinking, at th defenseless Mer.

"I am Falco Reflash, I have come to save you. I must now rejoin the battle upstairs, but fear not for I shall shortly return. But first..."

He unlocked them all from the chains that held hem all together at their wrists and ankles with the slave key. He then tied the Dunmer man up with the chains and handed one of the slaves his wip.

I hope I have served you well." he said, looking behind him to make sure he was clear of more guards.

The shimmering figure of Hankarlic did flinch only slightly as the lightning spell hit him, instead, the hidden Hankarlic quickly calculated where Tris would probably land and flung an illusion spell at that point.

However, he did not bother to move against Tris, but headed straight towards Ahjaar, snarling audibly.
"Now I have you, s'wit!", he grunted as he put his blade at her throat...

Ahjaar screamed, dropping her bow. She grabbed his dagger arm with one hand and reached for her own dagger with her other hand.

Goranthir's dai-katana finds its mark; Blade was surprised to see an obviously green adventurer pull off that roll move.  The heavy blade is deflected by whatever armor she wears under that cloak and shirt, but the sheer impact of the blow knocks her down.

Struggling to get up, Blade throws black sneezing powder at Goranthir's face, hoping to get a few moments to get her feet under her again and deal with this young armored fool.  She notes the other slavers are getting slaughtered, and whispers hoarsely "Idiots; they should be running, not fighting ..."

Goranthir held up his arm to deflect some of the powder, but he still backed up, sneezing. Damn it, he thought to himself, I’m doing this all wrong!

The guards carried in a large mirror. Immediately Loranna could see it had a magickal glow about it.

Barenziah, glass in hand, stood up, and put her hand to the mirror.

"Call to me," the Queen Mother said, leaving the room.

Seeing Goranthir is distracted, Balde kicks hard at his legs, spinning quickly; her movements suggest she has magical enhancements to her speed.

Her adamantium blade slashes out again, seeking an incapicitating slash for Goranthir's chest or arms.

Pity, Blade thinks dispasionately, he might have been a good fighter with a bit more experience; maybe he had sense enough to keep a recall amulet on hand for when he was outmatched.

Tris had no idea what the spell - clearly a spell of the school of illusion - would do if he landed in it. So he didn't land.

There was no flicker, but the others saw him disappear.

The Breton turned to the slaves who were now whipping his Dunmer captor, and took the whip from his hand, saying, “Would you continue to carve the grave you have all this time, or rise and seek life anew?”

The slaves began bickering among themselves.

Ash, feeling fully refreshed, stands on the ledge, and looks down at the ruins of the former pier. Seeing his backpath has been destroyed, he decides to walk down whatever tunnel he has stumbled upon. "I think this is where I saw those two in charge. The one in the armor was strong, but he's not what I'm looking for. That other one was packed with magic. Her death will be quite rewarding." says Ash, walking down the dim tunnel. Suddenly, he hears a scream from down the tunnel, and begins to move towards it. Running down the makeshift hallway, Ash stops to find Hankarlic's massive back facing him in the tunnel, his knife at Ahjaar's throat. Ash prepares to cast a spell of sleep, when he hears Hankarlic's threat. The ritual completed, the spell begins to set forth, and is shot directly into the ground. Ash stands helpless, looking at Hankarlic with haterd in his eyes.

Blade draws in a breath, nodding slightly.

" ... I don't know where that one is presently; Hankarlic sold her soon after capturing her.  He keeps a ledger, though; the information you seek should be there."

She coughs a bit.  " ... I can take you to it ..." she says, sounding defeated.

"You can stay right here," said Goranthir. "Tell us where it is."

He hadn't sweated at all during the right, but now he felt warm. He had never interrogated anyone before. Clearly this was a bad person, but he didn't like threatening a helpless adversary like this.

"Fine," he growled, then tood up. "Show us where this book is."

Blade sighs, and points with her good arm. "Down there, in the office room," she says, indicating a door some ways down. "It's locked in his desk; he has the key on his person."

"Well fought," she says to Goranthir, closing her eyes.

Ash looks over to Goranthir. "Who is she? She is quite formidable. Perhaps we should strip her of her weapons and enchantments before turning her in to the authorites." he tries to hide his eagerness at learning what magicks give this woman such power.

Outside in the passage, Tris slipped Outside again. He whispered a string of power and looked for traps. There were none.

In a few moments he returned, with the ledger.

"I believe this is it," he said, presenting it to Ahjaar.

Reichi studied the woman's face, something was familar about her. Yes, familar, but he couldn't match a name or event to the face yet. He could tell he had met this woman before, and almost had when, almost. Then it clicked.

"Blade..." He muttered, before letting wolfish grin onto his face. "Been awhile."

Whoever strips her meets with only mild resistance; underneath her cloak and shirt, she was wearing mithril mail. Her pockets reveal the tools of the thief, while her cloak has many a knick knack stashed in it, including several more throwing blades.

Blade clutches her bleeding arm after she is stripped, shackles on her wrists. Her hands remained closed in fists and she covers herself as best she can.
