Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight
Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 02:17 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads,
where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the
player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and
discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using
this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look
http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary: Shaka, an Argonian battlemage, is walking to the Drunken Guar with the
others but sobered by the realization that most of the group, like Shaka, are
loners who will have to learn to work as a team.
"Might as well, Iz. I can see also that I need to learn a lot more spells,

Elsewhere:
"Tris... honestly. You were warned, I told you not to go in the House with
no Doors."
His answer was inaudible.
She sighed, and stroked his hair.
"Let me stay here," Tris said suddenly. "I don't want to run
back again, I can't, please don't make me keep doing this."
The General's expression was unyielding.

"I don't know any spells at all." Anya got a twinkle in her eye,
"But get me and you into the arena, and I could dance circles around that
axe of yours."
"Hey Isidor, how about a contest in the tavern, with drinks?"
Posted by: SpartanShea117 Yesterday, 02:33 AM
Kratos spoke to Loranna, "We should not have lost that
bout, i'm not blaming you but you need to let us protect you my lady."
Kratos walked to the door and opened it for Loranna and his companions.

are denied a drink at the local tavern but must instead sprint 10 miles in full

"Well in that case, Vintage Brandy right here." Anya smiled with a

"Reichi summed it up pretty much. I was taught some squad tactics, but
that was years and years ago, and I never used them. We need to remember what
we're good at team-wise. Take me for example. I'm perfect for protecting the
mages and other archers. I know plenty of close combat. So if anyone breaks the
line, I can protect the healers and such. Otherwise I'm perfectly content to
stand back and snipe."

"I've learned a few things about myself already, Dres Loranna. Reichi's
right, we've been loners until recent months. Even when I was a Shrine
Sergeant, my tasks were usually by myself or with few others."
"Also, I need to learn more spells such as drain fatigue. I couldn't use
my usual spells such as fireball today without seriously hurting the alits and
probably my teammates."

Goranthir limped as he walked. Evidently, his leg was still bothering him from

"I can't explain it," the young ranger frowned, clearly annoyed.
"I fought ten of them for an hour, and then, when the game was joined, I
just fell apart. I'm so sorry."

Goranthir nodded. "We should try summoning something we
don't mind hurting next time. I don't know about the rest of you, but I
don't know how much to hold back when I'm trying not to hurt the alit.
And I'd like to use a weapon that I might really use in combat -- like my
dai-katana."
"I dunno," Tris said, laughing. "Maybe we should practice more
with Alit before tackling dremoras."

Isidor turns to Loranna and Tris and says "Is Allerleirauh really as
magnificent as everyone makes out? I've never met her, and look foward to
seeing her."
"She's General Light," Tris said simply.

Raithen Arthat sat a table, slowly drink his brandy. He listened
to the conversations around him, but nobody seemed to be interesting enough to
interact with. He sighed, whisked down the bottoms of his flask, stood up and
straightened his robes. That's when something at the bar caught his eye, or
rather 'someones'.
A rather large possey had gathered at the bar, drinking endless mugs and flasks
of various liquores. He listened in on their conversation for a moment-decided
not to bother them-then thought better of it and decided to bother them.
After going through his rutine check of his white hair and beard, he grabbed
his staff and walked over to them, robes swishing about him.
"May I?" said Raithen, then sat down without waiting for an answer.
He leaned his wooden staff against-well-nothing. The staff ballanced
it's self, pointing straight up, with one end on the ground. This was all
happening beside Raithen, who apeared to be oblivious to the whole thing.
"I've listened in on your conversation, and I noticed that you are in need
of 'something' to practice upon. Is a summoner your solution, well,
mabey." He flicked at a peice of invisible fluff on the chest of his robe.
"But this all may be very imposing upon you-Me just waltzing over here and
offering my serveses to you. So let us start with introductions. I am Raithen
Arthat, Breton Wizard and scholar, and I specialize in summoning..."
OOC: I took a crack at it...

"Greetings, my name is Isidor. You should talk to Loranna, the nord woman

fractures . . . Sure we could try healing spells, but would they ever look at
me the same way?"
"We're not slaves killing each other for smugglers' amusement, or nobles
duelling over some imagined slight."
He got up and walked to the bar for another drink. Shaka wasn't in the mood to

Isidor from the barkeep, then carried the Nord upstairs, with difficulty, and
left him to sleep it off.
Shaka then ran back downstairs and went outside to look for Anya. Okay,
decision time, he thought. Find her and I'm smothering her; let her go and I'm
a heartless bastard. He decided in favor of finding her.

"Why yes, of course, m'lady." He brought her hand to
his bearded face and kissed it.
"Where is it we shall meet?"
A rather large bang sounded as Isidor passed out behind Raithen. But he still
continued to stare at Loranna, calm seemingly etchted onto his face.
"There's an arena just outside of town; well, there's a fenced off area
we're calling an arena anyway," Loranna says. "We only just built it
..."
She glances over at Isidor and groans slightly. "I turn my eyes away for
five minutes ... oh well."
The barkeep contemplates how to get Isidor propped back up in a chair.

for a moment. Where would I go on a clear summer's night?
He found her on the beach near the breakwater. The moons hung over the bay, one

When he saw the forlorn blonde elf with her back turned to him, he thought to
himself:
I love you, Anya.
It was the first time he had allowed himself to think in those terms.

it would help to be more familiar with the history and rules of the rp before

The moons were nearly under the horizon as they nodded to the castle guards and

When they stopped by Anya's door, she gave Shaka a peck on the cheek,
"Thank you."
Unstrapping her armor, she slipped into a plain gown and laid down, closing her
eyes, as she laid back, she noticed that the nights seemed brighter than
normal, and thought back to what Shaka had said about her sister gifting her.
Hours later, Anya woke up, feeling restless, not helping that she had a mild
headache. Hoping to clear her head, she went to the balcony she frequented as
of late.
Holding her spear, she lept onto the rail and went through a series of thrusts,
twirls, and parries while balancing herself on the narrow footing. Lotus
hovered by her, faintly cawing as she went back and forth.

Shaka stood by the open window of his room, smiling faintly at Lotus' caws. He couldn't
see Anya from there, but he imagined she must be looking out from the balcony.
Before he went back to bed, Shaka had an odd moment of sadness, not for himself
or for Anya, but for Ald Raathim. While it was good that the town was alive and
growing, what would be lost someday if it became a city? Shaka already knew
half the town by sight, at least.
What would it be like someday when there were only strangers staring back at
the relatively rare sight of an Argonian?
He closed his eyes for a moment and prayed. Don't let it be, even if we go out
someday and fight this war, even if we prevail. This Daruhn summer is fleeting.

When morning came, Shaka decided to get serious about learning
new spells. He would need to pay for the training, however . . . .
He took out his remaining gold, and thought for a moment. Normally he disliked
having to get and spend money. With a sigh, he realized the upcoming conflict
was more important than his life savings; perhaps the group would one day raid
some daedric shrines or dwemer ruins to partly make up for it.
Shaka walked to the Mage Guild and arranged for training, daily for weeks at
the least. . . .
He sat on the wooden floor of one of the training rooms. Under the eye of an
elderly Imperial, Shaka broke the seal on a scroll of Absorb and began to read.
He knew that at the same time his eyes took in the words, he was being
imprinted by the magicka within the parchment. This was why even the most basic
spell scrolls cost a fair bit of money, ranging up to the priceless and rare:
it wasn't enough to read the words, the structure of one's brain itself would
be altered in the process.
After an hour, Shaka had the basics of how to absorb the strength of one's
opponent. He already felt drained, but glanced over at the Imperial. "Another
scroll. Absorb Endurance this time."
Shaka would concentrate on some Absorb spells this day. He planned to take a
break in the afternoon and see if Isidor or one of the others was engaged in
physical training.

Got to cut back, Nord, thought Shaka. Our greatest test yet awaits us this

"Isidor, I brought my ebony axe if you want to help me learn more, and we
can work on spear and polearms."

nothing to apologize for. Come on, help me learn to fight an axe-wielder. I'll

Isidor rose to his feet, looking not entirely at peace. "So, you have an
ebony axe? Those Dunmer may brag about it, but it's nothing to a Nordic
two-handed." He held his in both hands and said "The key to using an
axe, is in the swing. You want to make sure it has enough force behind it, but
that it's not too strong that'll make you move." He walks over to one of
the straw dummies that was set up, for practicing on. He swung his axe and
said, over his shoulder "You want to hit them in the gut, so they'll fall
foward, then you can get them in the neck, or lop their head off." He
threw his axe to Shaka's feet. "You try".

Shaka picked up the Nordic axe, impressed as ever by its balance and
workmanship. It even had the characteristic runes and designs etched into it.
He had always leaned toward axes more than swords anyway, but Shaka was
beginning to think he should start practicing with swords also; maybe katanas.
If he were chosen for the Eight -- and that was a big If -- he and the others
would need to be versatile enough to fill in for others' roles in combat, with
no notice.
Shaka worked for a while on several straw and wooden practice dummies. Real
combat wouldn't be so neat and predictable, he knew, but he had to start
somewhere.
At Isidor's instruction, Shaka worked on his swing and follow-through, working
with the axe rather than fighting it.

Good thing I wore my armor today, thought Shaka. The prospect of being cleaved

to spar.
Shaka gripped the Nordic axe and crouched facing Isidor, watching to see when

Thanks, kid, he thought to Luxi. Shaka didn't want distractions today, but he
had to admit that real battle would also be chaotic, so the child was doing him

Anya walked into the kitchen and mixed herself a drink that
would help clear her mind. What happened? As the events came back bit by
bit, she shook her head at herself. No more drinking for more...
Anya headed over to the archery range, where she had recently added a longe
range section to practice arcs and distance. She began picking even intervals
to tests height and arc. Why am I so scared? That's all behind, yet it still
has a hold on my life. Anya hiked out and retreived her arrows, pleased
that they were centered for the most part, aside from varying distances.
I mean, it's not like I've felt this way, not with my uncle and certianly
not with any of the people I've been hired by. Another arrow thrummed
through the air, and she watched a target wobble in the distance. She let off a
few more shots, hitting all but one of the targets.
And yet... I still cringe at the thought of being with anyone, period.
She hit a lever and several targets started to fly by. Several shots in quick
succession found their marks. I'm getting faster. She used a crank to
move them back.
Damn him, even after all these years, even after his death, he still want
let go. She pull the bow back until it would yeild no more, the wood
creaking under the strain. Why? Why do I still let him own me? Why won't I
let go? Why! She hit the lever and a target flew by, she released the bow
with an audible twang. The target halted mid-run, pinned in the head to another
target, until the arrow snapped and the target continued along it's path.
"Arhh!" Anya screamed in fustration.
Grabbing another bundle of arrows, she focused on her training, focusing
primarily on accuracy now.

All he saw inside the arena, for now, were only Ahjaar, Luxi, Falco and Anya.

Raithen stood off to the side, out of everyone's way, and began focussing. He

"Take your time," answered Shaka. He looked at Isidor, a little
puzzled. Iz, don't beat yourself up about Anya and last night, he thought to

They got down to the beach, where Luxi stripped to her under
shirt and pants, then dove into the water.
"You coming in mom?"
Ahjaar shook her head, then sat on a rock. "Nah"
Luxi shrugged. "Suit yourself."
"Just stay where I can see you!" Ahjaar shouted as Luxi dove under
the waves.

"Oy, never knew ranged weapons were so popular." Anya muttered.
"Right, Isidor, you should find a second bow over there. I'm having you
and Falco going over arcs and learning to judge where they land." Anya
showed him proper grip, how to sight an arrow, how to keep his arm straight,
learn to shoot with both eyes open, and wha hieght you wanted for the desired
range, "Now, just practice shooting at different heights until you've
learned to judge what arc is needed. I'll be over there if you have any
questions."
Anya turned to Dastril and Shaka, "As for throwing weapons, I'm best at
two types, daggers and shurikens. I prefer shurikens, easier to carry and
quicker to throw, but daggers do cause more damage. The principle is largely
the same with each, all about arm motion and release."

Isidor practiced a few times, and ended up having arrows go everywhere,
including, by some odd quirk, into Shaka's side. "Sorry about that"
he said as he pulled the arrow out.

"Listen everyone, something occurred to me this morning. If we try
coordinating a fight by voice, we might lose. Does anyone know if it would be

Isidor thought for a moment and then said "This is something best left to

Isidor steadied his bow again, and shot the arrow foward. It landed square in
the middle of the circle. "Hmm..." Was all he said.
