The
Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight
Posted by: Stargazey Aug 12 2005, 01:15 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder
Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized
individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do
big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel
#Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and
discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player
whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using
this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look Here.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it
did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major
events before doing them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and
afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Goranthir follows as well, in considerable pain still, but smiling. He actually
fought ... even if he lost ...

OOC: Anya, the blonde, bosmeri rogue, follows to the study too.
QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Aug 11 2005, 05:11 PM)
"Why couldn't you have just been a good girl and fallen
into my trap in the beginning, and saved us both a lot of trouble?"
Goranthir grinned, slowly, painfully getting to his feet.
(Should probably start a new thread now, at 200+ posts)
"Um... because I'm so cunning I knew it was a trap? Yes, that must be it!
It fits so well."
QUOTE(syronj @ Aug 11 2005, 05:11 PM)
Shaka hugged her. "Luckily the bleeding from the ears
means nothing vital was hit," he joked. "Listen up, gang.
I think we should gather in the study again for the debriefing, not at the
Drunken Guar."
Anya winced, more from pain this time, "Shaka, not right now... it
hurts."

for me and wanted it to be a fair fight, like you said, was it? I still think
it might've worked ..."
He pauses. "But do you know what? You guys not falling into that trap
actually helped me. I can't explain it, but when I saw that you were waiting
for a fair fight, I thought I better give you one ... I am sorry about the head
butt though. That was some dirty fighting at the end."

"Maybe our technique was shoddy," Goranthir admits.
"But I don't think the strategy is a bad one. Think about it: we'll be
facing eight great warriors from Tamriel's past. What is their likely weakness?
Overconfidence. If we run, and lure them into traps, that might be the best way
to defeat them, by surprise."

"Like I said, we didn't have much time to set up a strategy, and the

while we ambushed you ... Not a perfect plan, but we might not have time for
perfect plans in the field anyhow."

Yawmwen is a 15 year old Battle Mage(sorry if I am not going by
lore exactly, I forgot a lot of it over the months of non-MW play), he uses his
magick for Protection and Teleportation mostly though, he knows how to shield
himself and how to recall, but not much else, he can also chameleon himself a
little.
His fighting is better though, as he used a sword since he was able to pick it
up, his father taught him everything he knew, a Knight, and sent him to an
Academy of Battlemages shortly before his death. Yawmwen is a Dunmer, the
normal red eyes and everything. He wears a robe with a hood, covering most of
his face, and under it is a breastplate and greaves, nothing else.

you said, it's best to use it as an advantage..."

had pretended to run away during the fight. It was nice to be complimented
afterwards.
"I'll tell you what I'd like to learn after that," the young ranger
said. "How to turn invisible, and how to see things that are invisible.
When Anya disappeared, I really panicked."

Kratos walked through the door into the study and took a seat by
his friends, "So I heard your battle was very intense i'm sorry I couldn't
be there but I will be there for the next one, we must work as a team and I had
important matters to attend to...." He paused and thought about the quest
he took care of while they were training and looked down at his Gavel of the
Ordinator and smiled.
"I will have to reckognize your abilities and help improve them for
battle." He stopped and hefted his gleaming mace onto the table,
"This mace has the ability to send any Daedra back to the depths of
Oblivion, if they were to be struck with it or pick it up to use it against me
they will be cast back." He knew that they had knowledge of the quest he
had been wanting to complete and that he had done it.

Marsh, then repeated it for the others' benefit. "It's not always
about you, Falco. He probably has greater concerns than who's been
lifting the silverware." Shaka smiled slightly at Falco to take off
the edge.
Falco shrugged then turned to Kratos. He made a few more hissing and clicking
noises at the ordinator. This was a terrible and highly offensive argonian
insult. Of course Kratos didn't know that. Falco chuckled to himself.

"Dirty fighting?" Loranna asks, raising her eyebrows again.
Dram speaks up. "I have been talking with some of my best guards; though
none of us feel up on the level of you heroes, we would be honored if you would
consider having a match with us - it would be good training for my men in
handling adventuring types and we are used to working as a unit - I believe the

"Well, as it is clearly evident, we have varied talents. We have among us:
mages, healers, warriors, and rouges. We need a way to exemplify everyone's
strengths, and show none of our weaknesses. So, I propose this." Isidor
began to write. When it was done, he show the paper to the group. This is what
they saw.
Pretend this is the arena
Mage Mage
Archer
Rouge Rouge
Healer
Warrior Warrior
"Now, I don't pretened to know tactics, but I think that this formation
would keep everyone in equal range to attack the enemies, while keeping our
slightly less well defended units protected". He waited for a response.

protection," Reichi suggested.
Posted by: raithen Aug 12 2005, 04:17 AM
When Raithen and Goranthir reached the arena, Raithen began.
"Well, it’s always good to start off with breathing deeply for a few
seconds before attempting to do the spell.
Then, search through your mind until you find a place where you are most
comfortable. Focus on that at first.
As a beginner of a new spell, it is always good to make your magica come
through your palm or fingertips. Go ahead, try and feel it!" Raithen
watched Goranthir before continuing.
"Invisibility is a lot like Chameleon, so if you already know that, then
it helps you understand the art of hiding.
"Now focus on disapearing, imagine yourself becoming weightless, lighter
than air, and slowly dematerializing. Now let loose your magica, not all at
once mind you, slowly... Determination is the key-But do not become frustrated,
enjoy it at the least. Now go on, try it."

were several problems with that strategy, for one they would have to form

"This would work Isidor if we were not charging. We can use the same
technique that I came up with when we fought the guars, a simple triangle with
Loranna in the middle shielding us from the arrows with her protective magic

Physical Description of
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2429477: Walter is of average size, about 5'7". He is of slim build,
but it is hidden behind various robes. His complexion is fair. His face is
almost completely oval, Bretonesque, except for his somewhat square chin that
has dark blond stuble. His hair is a tidy golden blond that reaches his chins.
It's always in the backside of the collar of his robes. His eyes are a striking
blue-green that reflect his almost ice-cold personality. There are a few rings
under his eyes that make him look just a tad bit older.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A very stressed-out looking Walter entered the tavern.
Normally, he wouldn't even ponder about stepping in. But this was different. He
was bored, and that stressed him out. He didn't enjoy being idle. And he was
feeling melanchony.
Walter quietly stepped up to the bar to get a mead. He ordered the mead
quietly, and payed the tab. He sipped absent mindedly at the mead, staring of
into nowhere in thought. His eyes darted around the room anxiously. He wanted
to talk... but he couldn't. Good job Walter, he thought with a cynical
smile, You're doing an excellent job at changing.
defensive and will make us charge them, and in other areas we could use an
offensive training battle." He toyed with his mace, "You do know we
won't be on the defense the whole time do you not?"
"And you know for a fact that they will stick to that plan everytime? That
they will always be on the defensive?"
quite superior to that of a common person, making me able to multiple spells at
"I can handle more of the healing duty if Raithen focuses on destruction
"Ahem; it'd be better if people focused on a specific role,
and I am pretty sure the guards won't just wait for us to come to them,"
Loranna coughs. "You can't win an arena battle by being purely defensive
and Dram at least knows this ..."
"All right then; Raithen will be our dealer of magcal death and
destruction, Shaka will be in charge of healing people and casting fortify
effects to bolster them, and I'll be in charge of weakening the enemy and
removing their fortify effects, as well as dispelling silences and other
harmful effects on our people," Loranna says. "Shaka, we'll practice
casting in conjunction so we can cure a person of curses and silences and get
his fortify effects back up in a jiffy."
"We should also take Raithen's summons into account; send some cannon
fodder ahead of us first, then he starts casting spells to flatten the
opponent," she says.
Sorry about the hug today while you were still healing from the battle, it
Kratos hid it well but he knew he could not attend the battle
because of the wounds he had suffered fighting Staada the golden saint he had
recovered his Gavel of the Ordinator from. Kratos reached his room and opened
the door, as soon as he closed it he stripped his armor off and saw a giant
gash on his chest and was bleeding internally.
"Blasted muck sucking Daedra got me good." Kratos said half in pain
and half in sarcasm, "They will know I have been wounded when the healer
arrives, I will have to sit this one out and watch them try their best without
me, although they will suffer defeat without the help of an Ordinator such as
myself." Kratos said with just a hint of arrogance.
The healer opened the door and immediatly told Kratos to lay down, after Kratos
had gotten comfortable the healer spoke, "This will take at least a day to
fix." Kratos almost fell out of his bed, "A day!?! I cannot wait that
long, can you do it any faster?" The healer knew she would become
frustrated with Kratos and spoke once more, "Do not rush the healing
process, this is a very bad wound you must wait!"
Kratos lay there thinking as he was given a pain releaving potion to drink,
"I must protect my men they cannot win without me, I am the commander, I
am an Ordinator, I am the......." Kratos passed out from the pain as he
was becoming delirious or was he?
Tris bathed reluctantly, hating to wash the scent of her from
his skin. He wasn't drunk, but he felt larger than life, warmly intoxicated,
friends with all the world.
No telling what the others had said in private. He had gotten the public
account of the battle from spectators over dinner at the tavern. No wonder the
General was always so sort tempered. People were impossible to work with, as
soon as you expected them to do anything in particular they ran off in all
different directions. Like the time he had upended a basketful of mice in the
marketplace.
On the other hand, maybe the General just needed to get laid more often.
"Arynel, you're not doing your job, little buddy," he said out loud,
correcting his course back to the castle, steering by the lights of the windows
of Ald Raathim. He wondered if Goranthir was still up at this hour.
Goranthir was practicing his nascent skills at Illusion. Raithen
had been a patient tutor: he reminded Goran of the teachers he had back in
Firsthold, all first-rate, with the patience of saints, whose wills he had
systematically broken by being irredeemably impatient with his own progress.
The Psijic tutors especially had been concerned with form and method, when all
he wanted was results. He wanted to learn to turn invisible and to see what
can’t be seen immediately.
After hours, he could cast Chameleon. A rather sad Chameleon, made sadder
because, he remembered, he had been taught it before. Still, in shadow, he
couldn’t be seen, and he was trying to spy on the household staff of Loranna’s
castle.
A pity more of them weren’t engaged in backroom shenanigans. Well, except for
Razbiah and the pastry chef, and that was disgusting to look at.
Tris had slipped into the Void, the easiest way to find people, since you could
see both inside and outside simultaneously.
He didn't see Goranthir immediately, however.
He was starting to feel agitated when he spotted a suspicious shimmer.
Standing in the Void, General Light's premiere spy chuckled to himself.
He wouldn't have done it if he hadn't felt a little drunk, a little crazy, as
if the world was his to play with. But he did feel all these things. And
Goranthir didn't have nearly enough fun in his life. Tris could fix that.
Tris stepped out from the Void and laid his hand on Goranthir's shoulder.
"Nice view," he said, softly, into his ear.
coming closer.
Goran had his elbow to Tris’s throat before he realized who it was. It would
have been normal to pass through anger on the road from shock to delight at
seeing his friend, but the young ranger turned spy took the short-cut.
Tris had spotted one of Ald Raathim's hidden passages from within the Void.
They took it now, slipping into the space behind the serving niche. Safe within
the thick castle walls, they watched the guard pass.
"She'll have a nice story in the morning," Tris said. "You'd
The space within the walls was close, but not dark. The light came from above;
the kitchen, by the smell of it.
It was Tris's long-held policy never to talk about women, and his newly-formed
policy especially never to talk about queens. But maybe compassion was a higher
virtue than confidentiality.
He kissed Goranthir's cheek, looked him steadily in the eye. "Don't you
"Are we spying now dear?" Loranna asks Goran with a smile. "Belt
and rings? I know Dram has a Belt of Ogrim Might that he wore on the battle of
Red Mountain; as for rings he has a number of them, mostly small things like
invisibility or sleep - things a guard could find handy."
She frowns a bit. "Though I do know he's had this idea of helping out in
the arena for a few days now; he could have gotten new equipment made with a
specific strategy in mind."
Raithen awoke slowly the next day. For those that do not know
him, it would be surprising that he didn't look excited about the coming
events.
He sliced a Kwama egg into peices and ate them with a spoon, then he got
dressed and teleported to the arena. Not before sneaking some 'Restore Magica'
potions with him of course...
He arrived, looked around and said, "it seems I awoke much to early this
morning." He smiled, "oh well."
The moring sun was just creeping over the horizon, making the sky a rather
orange colour. There was dew still on the ground, sparkling slightly.
He went into the center of the arena and began summoning some Lesser Daedra
whom he had made pacts with earliyer (so as to keep them in this realm longer).
A Hunger: Raithen hoped to scare some of the soldiers.
An Ogrim: This Daedra can take the hits while the rest of us attack,
thought Raithen.
A Dremora: These were always good fighters.
Raithen took a step back and serveyed his expendable servents. "Doesn't
matter to them, they'll just reapear in Oblivion."
He then sat down on an invisible chair, pulled out a peice of parchment, and
began writing: clearly lost in thought...
Early that morning, Shaka breakfasted in a nearly-empty dining
hall. He had donned his usual mixture of armor but was wearing the borrowed
guard's cuirass rather than the Dragonbone.
I've gotten too dependent on it over the years, he thought. If I'm selected to
be one of the Eight, I'll use it; but I need to train seriously first.
After the main bout of the day, he planned to study at the Mage Guild. Shaka
still didn't know any Dispel cantrips, or Reflect. Shaka had neglected so many
weapons in his life that he was now ashamed to call himself a battlemage.
Hopefully Loranna will teach me sanctuary spells, and better healing, he
thought.
Shaka thought for a moment about obtaining a helm. His large, dragon-like ears
had always seemed in the way. He decided to at least obtain a Legion helm and
have a blacksmith modify it. For now, Shaka slipped off his four earrings and
pocketed them. No sense in having one more weak point that an enemy could tear
off and hurt him with.
Absurdly, thinking of Loranna earlier reminded him of her charms. Shaka was
committed to Anya, but it was lonely sometimes.
He wondered briefly if Ald Raathim had a "house of delights" yet.
Somehow he doubted it. Shaka had never paid for a woman in his life anyway; it
had to mean something to him. Preferring mammals over his own kind hadn't
helped over the years. He could count the number of lovers on one hand, with
perhaps a talon left over.
Stupid. Get on your feet, old man, he thought, and left for what promised to be
a clear day.
He turned to the right, and saw her blonde hair on the pillow. She was
really beautiful. "Anya..."
Isidor woke up, and cursed himself. "Dammit, you fool, get your mind off
axe. He wanted to go the mages Guild and get some Restoration Spells. He walked
"You'd have to ask her. . . . It was stupid of me to hug her yesterday
Falco was whistling to himself as he entered the mages guild
that morning. He had recieved a letter and a small bundle of objects via guild
guide. He opened up the letter and read,
Dear my old friend Falco,
I got you what you requested, but it wasn't easy, I had to snatch them out of
the supply room, without permission from a higher ranking mage, thats a
bannable offense you know. I feel more like you every day. But anyway, I got
you everything you need, a soul gem with a golden saint, an empty soul gem, and
a scroll of gem-feeder. They're all in the bundle. Please forgive me, but what
is this stuff for anyway, for 15 years I have been etting letters from you,
always asking something of me, never just wondering how your best friend is
doing. Anyway I hope you put them to good use.
-Gerard
P.S. Solena left Cyrodill yesterday to resume er search, I know you wanted me
to keep an eye on that woman, and report to you.
Falco smiled and wrote on the back of te letter:
Sorry Gerard. As soon as this buisness is concluded I'll head back to
Cyrodill and visit you. Don't worry about Solena I can take care of her.
He pocketed the supplies and walked to the local alchemist's shop. There he
bought several restore attribute potions and, several of dispel. He placed them
all in the small pack he always slung over his shoulder.
brings images of a log cabin in the woods after a fresh fall of snow.
"You know, Raithen," Goranthir frowned. "I'm not sure about the
daedra, but if we do want to use them, maybe it'd be best to summon them in the
middle of the fight, to give us the element of surprise?"
No nightmares. No dreams at all, in fact. Tris lay with his eyes
open, feeling like a betrayer. Then he shook himself and went for a run.
Too hot already. He took a dip in the ocean, dressed, and positioned himself
outside the Arena to watch the day's bout.
The Breton Arynel joined the others at the arena.
we go? It'll be good pratice for those fighting the critters."
Dram inspects his chosen men, who stand in line, faces impassive
except to those who knew them; Dram could see the eagerness in their eyes.
There was Han-Za, the Argonian; clad in bonemold armor, his belt replete with
pouches and potion vials, a shimmering ebony staff in his hands held as if it
were a spear. His tail flicked back and forth in his usual manner when he was
thinking.
There was Ghamul Bogadb, the Orc; for this occasion the burly guard had broken
out his own personal set of armor, a full set of gleaming adamantium that he
had won long ago in his youth. A heavy Orcish shield and a Daedric waraxe
rounded out his ensemble, and under his helm, he smirked, imaginging his
opponents breaking themselves against him.
Next was Dilave Othren, the Dunmer; her bonemold armor had been customized to
allow her greater freedom of movement, so that she could more easily reach the
large quiver on her back. Her hands hold a bound longbow, and her eyes betray a
bit of concern.
Next was Pilpen Horatius, the Imperial; though his armor and shield was
standard bonemold, and his weapon but normal Imperial steel, his face showed
the utmost confidence. He grins internally as he thinks of the coming fight
with Kratos and Goranthir, imagining the looks on their faces when he whispers
his favorite incantations ...
Next was Relamus Hlan, the Dunmer; his bonemold cuirass and pauldrons
contrasted with the glowing ebony bracers on his wrists, and the ebony spear in
his hands almost seemed to hum with power. His face was calm, a homage to
Dram's composure; Dilave keeps from rolling her eyes at the younger Dunmer's attempt
to imitate their leader.
There was Gildiir, the Bosmer, clad in much lighter armor than the rest, though
her outline looked a bit blurred and it was hard to tell if she was standing
still or figiting. A deceptively-plain adamantium shortsword hung on her hip
and several steel throwing darts were affixed to her belt and cuirass.
There was Miliele Gaban, the Breton; she wore standard bonemold and bore an
ebony axe and matching shield, though she did not anticipate needing either
very much. Her clear blue eyes watched Dram as he finished his inspection and
she wondered how many of her enemies would be protected like their Lady, in the
gleaming ice armor that absorbed spells ...
Dram stops, saying "Today, we prove to our Lady and to Ald Raathim that
her finest men and women are as capable as any in the Empire. Remember the
plans we have discussed, and know that mighty as our opponents are, we are
equal to the task of facing them."
"Double-check your equipment one last time, then we go to the arena to
prepare our traps." Dram turns and leads his guards out, but not before
sharing a glance with Gildiir and looking down at his hands. This should be an
interesting match.
When Shaka spied the guards in the distance, he said: "You must be joking.
" .. .Okay; Shaka's right, we don't have Anya with us today and Dram
