QUOTE(Loranna @ Aug 18 2005, 02:17 AM)

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary

Goranthir, very shaken like the rest of the group by the book of Nalion and the ending of the last arena battle, is in his room, composing a letter to his grandmother. Though he has tried not to tell too many people, any who placed their hands on Nalion's book know that he is the grandson of Queen Barenziah through her daughter Morgiah, Queen of Firsthold.

His last talk concerned his Aunt, Elysana, Queen of Wayrest, and his interest in "paying her a visit" while they're in High Rock.

They searched the cave through and through, but found nothing.

"There's nothing in here, he porably left already." Terryn said.

"I've been following you, Ahjaar." He waved an empty bottle of invisiblity. "I've been following you ever since you found my last meal."

Terryn wasted no time. He drew his sword and charged the nord, who jumped out of the way, then while Terryn was in recoil, kicked him in the back, knocking Terryn down.

Ahjaar rasied her hands, casting a fireball, which hit the nord from the side.
It had no effect on him.
"What t-?" was all Ahjaar was able to say before she felt something stab her in the ribs.
The nord had, with amazing speed, ran and stabbed her.

She feel to the ground.

Isidor looked at Razbiah and said "Let's hope it's not the doG. A fine meal, Razbiah." He excused himself and said "I'll be at the docks, if anyone needs me." He made his way there, and sat on a crate, looking out at the water. He was still upset about the tavern, and Zalliah. He tried to calm down, and looked to see if any ships were coming in.

"The univrse is ending Ahjaar! But you don't care do you? You don't care about much! And your little Luxi, so precious isn't she? She has more of a future then you'll ever have! At this moment she speaks to Loranna about things you will never understand! Your useless, Ahjaar!"

The nord changed to his wolfen form. He brought his jaws down upon Ahjaar's head, meaning to crush it, but Terryn slashed his side. He feel back and snarled.

The werewolf lunged, lashing at Terryn with his claws. Terryn dodged, and slashed at the wolf again.

He lunged forward as the wolf recoiled, and stabbed the wolfen in the chest, who, at the same time, bit at Terryn's face.
They fell down, sword in wolf and tooth on man.

Reichi nodded. "Seen more than enough of those storms in my lifetime," he said. "But i doubt its his work. His usually can be caught coming. This one came out of nowhere. After that flash.."

Posted by: Moonblink Yesterday, 08:49 PM

In the werewolf's last atemps to save its already doomed life, it dug its claws into Terryn, who struggled to escape.

A growl escaped Terryn's throat as he shape-shifted.

Two wolves struggled in a fight now. Terryn bit down on the other's neck, keeping him from digging into Terryn's back with his claws.

After a moment, no more movement came from the other werewolf.

Terryn stood up and shapeshifted back to his mortal form.
He walked over to Ahjaar and helped her up.

"Are you all right?"

The fishermen had pulled their boats in during the storm, dragging them up on land. Anyone who had their ship still in the tossing, churning waves would have to be suicidal, or desperate.

Llevian Rythos was decidedly not the former. He was being paid well, but he wondered how well his gold would be spent if he drowned. As he finally brought his skiff into the harbor, he turned to his passenger, who stood wrapped up in a dark cloak that whipped around her body in the cold storm.

"You owe me more for that," he said.

"If the day had turned out sunny and delightful, would I owe you less?" the Dunmer woman replied, ignoring his open hand, and stepping out of the boat onto the dock.

"Does it look like I'm alright?!" She had her hands on her stab wound, trying to stop it from bleeding.
"Why didn't you tell me you were a wolfen?"

Terryn was lloking through his pack for a healing potion.
"Because I didn't want to scare you."
He found the potion and handed it to her.

Ahjaar took the potion and drank it, her wounds healing.
"I know another wolfen."
She motioned tward the werewolf.
"Is he dead?"

"Yes. What was he talking about? When he was talking to you. Did you know what he ment?"

Ahjaar shook her head and lied.
"No, I have no clue. He was obviously insane."

"It's kinda hard to belive he was making that up. Who's Luxi?"

Ahjaar hadn't told him about Luxi, or anything really about herself, for that matter.
"She's... she's my daughter."

He'd had his fill of Dunmer women, pretty or not.

"How did he know about your daughter? Did you know him from before?"

Ahjaar shook her head. "I never have met him in once my life. Look, I don't want to talk about it. Lets get rid of this body."

They took the werewolf and dragged him into the ocean, then they headed back to town. Ahjaar could see her ship waiting for her at the docks.

"I must be going now. My ship is waiting for me and I'm late."
Terryn stopped her. "Don't you want your payment?"
Ahjaar shook her head. "I wasn't working for gold."

Terryn looked confused. "Then why did you help me? There was really no other point in doing it.."

Ahjaar was silent for a moment.
"I really don't know why I helped you. I just felt I should."

Terryn smiled. "Well thanks. Without you, I proably would of never caught him."

Falco thought about the flash of light. I must be crazy. Probably that bookk, messed with my head, made me mistake a flash of lightning for some kind of white light. I'll just play it dumb and nobody will be the wiser.

*

Loranna looks at Falco and says "Dear ... we all remember the flash. That's what we've been training to prevent all along."

She shakes her head. This is us you're talking to Falco; why are you pulling the dumb act? she almost says, before thinking better of it. Falco had looked mortified after touching the book; he was probably still rather out of sorts. No point in pushing him.

Slyvos was in his room, when the flash of light happened.

'... well... my old self would have wanted that to last forever.'

He lay on the bed, exhausted for some reason.

'why am I so tired?'

he thought back to the exploding pastry he tried to make. A cake really...

'oh, yah, that's why... had to clean that up before anyone saw it. Damn that took forever.'

He had to get that right before the big day... whenever that was.

"You don't have to ask!" Kethiah said, sprinting ahead, a lithe figure cutting through the rain.

No one was in the tavern. The locals were all at home with their families, waiting out the storm. Even the tavernkeeper was downstairs with a bucket, as the wine cellar had begun flooding.

"It seems we have the place to ourselves," Kethiah said. "Tell me, is Tris Gaerington staying here, or at the castle?"

His expression grew slightly more troubled.

"That is good news," Tris said dryly.

Kethiah had helped Jazbet before; and the Morag Tong were more enlightened than you might expect. Perhaps Kethiah knew something about the current situation.

Goranthir shook his head. Tris's smile made him feel better, and in truth, he knew from Nalion's book enough about Kethiah. If she wanted Tris dead, there would be no warning.

Nalion had thought a while on the battle, then spoke up.
"One of your major spells did not get through because it was blocked by another, much cheaper smaller one. That's something you have to pay attention to. You have seen how this spell can damage you when it blows too early."
Nalion paused for a moment, sipping from his glass of wine.
"Another thing I have thought about when looking at that fight was that the tight formation Gruznob used can be used to cast beneficial area effect spells, that could be worthy to try out. I now seriously have doubts about demoralizing spells. You will face ghosts and I wonder if that spell would work on them. Better think about turn undead, but I doubt that wil have a great effect somehow."

Loranna rubs the back of her neck.

"I'd been thinking of asking Slyvos to make me gloves with my favorite snowball cantrip for emulating Gruznob's trick, actually," she says. "And, maybe, learning how to cast a spell and fire off a shot from the gloves just before, to shield the main spell. But I doubt I have time to learn that trick."

"Thing is - we have archers. Archers can interupt spellcasters with well-timed and aimed shots. We should Encourage our archers to start picking their targets with an eye for keeping the enemy mages from getting any spell off - especially spells meant to make our own blow up in our faces."

"Gruznob's formation did make it easy for everyone to shield and fortify one another - and, conversely, easy for us to blast them initially with area effect spells. Thing is, once our fighters got in close, we lost the advantage - we no longer had clear lines of fire and thus couldn't take advantage of Gruznob's tight formation. I think we should start encouraging our fighters to focus their attacks on one target, preferably not the toughest, and also preferably in a way to leave the mages clear lines of fire - I and Raithen and Slyvos can all throw spells to keep enemies pinned down, or weakened, and otherwise unable to interfere with our fighters; we should not rob ourselves of this advantage."

" ... And this is where Goranthir's advice ties in. We all need to think about what job we have on the battlefield, both to begin, and in the later stages - and have back up plans too. I weaken the enemy in the initial engagement, before the fighters close. When they close, I either switch to buffing our fighters or helping to keep the other enemies pinned down and unable to attack. If our primary healer goes down or we're taking a severe pounding, I switch back to healing duties for a while. Raithen starts off with calling out his summons; I can buff those as well, and I'm thinking they ought to help Goranthir hold the defensive line instead of just attack. Once those are out, Raithen switches to spells to keep the other enemies busy. If I get taken out, he switches to weakening the enemies to support our fighters. Things like that."

"And the fighters up front should be thinking the same way. Shai's agile and presice; she should aim to cripple someone. Reichi's fast and dual-wields; he should weave a web of steel. Isidor and Kratos are both strong and wield heavy weapons; let them bowl people over. Things like that; working together to take people out fast ..."

He was quoting Barenziah, he realized, and laughed.

If you tell her - well, there were Void Ranger wars long ago, look at the mess we're trying to fix now just from a little bit of tampering and imagine what that was like. Queens don't need to know this. Queen Elysana found out and that was a mistake."

Posted by: Xyber02 Today, 03:38 AM

Anya walked away. Foolish girl. You should have seen it. He wasn't interested in training you, he was interested in you.

The session had went exactly as planned. She tried hard to wrap her mind around what he was saying, but it proved difficult since she had learned more practical methods from an Imperial view of archery.

But then, Spooky changed attitudes. He became more relaxed, more comfortable. More intimate. She had initially mistook it as an eager teacher, but that wasn't his view apparently. By the time he had made an actual advance on her, it was too late. She ended up huffing off, leaving behind a confused, hurt, and angry Bosmer. So much for training.

As she walked back, she mulled over the book, a great many things shown to her. About herself, Loranna, and Shaka. The others, she gleaned bits from, but it was those two and herself that actually hit her.

An annoying headache had formed. Not too terrible, but enough to make her feel gloomy.

Her thoughts strayed to that fateful night at the castle. Memories that had flooded her, stark clear now, not muddied with time or anger. She had learned that her sister didn't die that moment. Allania had watched her leave. It wasn't something that an angry ghost had made to try to prove herself justified. A knot formed in the pit of her stomach.

Puzzled, she entered the study as the others critiqued their last bout.

"I won't tell anyone," Goranthir said simply. "I don't think I have the vocabulary to explain it, even if I wanted to. And I'll never be king. My father has children from his first wife, and they look Altmer ... The people will accept them. If I were crowned, there'd be a revolution."

They had reached the empty tavern. The tavernkeep was yet to finishing bailing out the cellar, and the interior was dark and still.

"Well, that's more or less what I'm thinkng of, just each person knows what their plan is, and how it fits into the team," Loranna says.

" ... Look, I've been spouting off a lot of battle plans lately, and any of you who touched the book know, I am not a leader.  I'm not even the best planner.  You who are going to be out there, fighting for the world and trusting one another with your lives - now's the time to speak up, say what plans you think you'd be suited for, and help put together a basic strategy."

"I myself, say I'm in the rear, casting absorb spells on the enemies to start, then fortify spells on our fighters as needed or else more absorb spells to keep our fighters safe.  And if need be, I switch to healing spells to keep people alive.  Leave me open lines of fire so I can support you and keep your back safe, and my strength will aid the team."

She looks to the others, imploring them with her eyes to speak.

*

"I'm more of frontline fighter myself," Reichi said. "as i am right now i'm a lighter fighter though. I can't readily deal with things like the formation the Legionaires use. That is, unless of course, i can utilize my Lycanthropy where we're going."

"Then i can beat the ever living [censored] out of just about anything at close range," he said with a grin. "Even a Phalnax wouldn't prove too much of a trouble. I've tore through sheilds in that form before."

Luxi looked at Loranna.

"Are you going to be part of the 8?"

Loranna pauses a moment. " ... I ..." she says, blushing a bit.

"Heh; we all talk about how we're each striving to prove ourselves worthy, and here I was just assuming I'd be all along," she says. "I want to be; I want to fight to help my friends."

She shrugs. "We're still deciding who's to go, though," she admits. "So ... we'll see."

Tris grinned.

"I know a king when I see one, Goran. You go ahead and sit down; I'll be there in a moment."

He slipped into the space between the tavern and the next building, and went Outside to look for Kethiah.

None of us has a real dagger in our story, but that can be managed, I'm sure. Even Diamond could do something. Sculpt things made of sand? I don't know...If we're going, that is."

Luxi frowned. "But maybe she can. It's really up to her."

Posted by: Loranna Today, 03:57 AM

"Reichi, that suggests having you fight with a strong, heavy fighter," Loranna says. "Someone who can beat down shields and rend armor, so people like Shai or Falco can go for a crippling or disarming blow, and you can overwhelm the enemy with your slashing swords or claws."

"Raithen, hello; I agree, we need to start picking people. And on a related note Raithen dear, I've been thinking. Your summons; I think they may serve us better as extra tankers to protect the mages than as simple front line shock troops. The Hunger makes a good secondary caster, the Ogrim can take hits, and the Dremora is fierce enough to put up a good fight."

Anya looked around. The two were standing in the center of a burned husk of a farm, the farm where her road started. Where she was taken from her family, and sold into a life of servitude. The sky burned an angry red, a perpetual fire licking it from Red Mountian.

"I have my doubts, dear sister, that you would just talk. As such, couldn't this have waited? I am needed by many for a-"

QUOTE(Loranna @ Aug 19 2005, 04:56 AM)

Loranna gives Shaka a quick, but warm, smile.  "It's okay," she says.  "Just so long as we're still friends."

She looks over and nods to Fernando, then says " ... People, let's not crowd Anya now.  She's not going to get better by having us all hover over her."

*

Nalion returned with the others, yet before leaving Anya's room, he gave Shaka a reassuring glance and a friendly pat on the shoulder.

As he was back, he harrumphed. "I think I do not have to stress that we are working under a timeframe here again, do I?"
He gave off an air of unsettledness. He knew of the dangers they faced, but actually seeing the world's frame unravel was a wholly different story.

Shaka stood back for a moment to give Anya room to breathe. "Ahjaar, it's good to see you back," he said. "Her sister was haunting her for a while, but I thought we had laid her spirit to rest. Now ... I don't know who it could be. Her former master, for all I can tell."

"Nalion's right," Loranna says. "Come on people; let's get back to the dining hall. We'll catch people up there and figure out our next move."

She starts shooing people out of Anya's room, calling for a servant to watch over her.

"I..."
Ahjaar was visited by Bartimeous before, in her sleep. He had said many things in hatred tward her. Was the same thing happening to Anya?

"The same.."
Ahjaar stopped. She wasn't sure if she should tell them.

Anya watch curiously, as the shade of Allania waved her hand. Her vision flared and was replaced with the study, though from an od angle, viewed from above. She watched as the others mulled over her, and evtually resigned when they didn't see any physical ailment. The scene blurred, but one person remained clear as day, Shaka.

"You love him, yes?"

"What is this, Allania, let me go." She tried to race foward, but didn't see any progress, "Shaka!"

"Calm down. This is but an illusion. One made to show you what truly happens there, but an illusion nontheless. Now, you love him, don't you."

Anya glared at her sister, "What business is that of yours,
shade."

"There is your problem. You leave it up to excuses. You're just scared, little girl. Even after what I did, you remain fearful and don't act. Do you love him?"

She glared, but answered sharply. "Yes."

"Then why do you not act?"

"You were there. You know what has happened to me, why I don't like intimacy."

"You foolish, little girl. I was there. It happened to me. I bear the same scars as you."

"Don't patronize me! You hurt people after that!"

"Anger, passion. There is no difference. Both are very emontional acts. Don't play innocent with me. Why don't you just act?"

She waved her hand, "But enough of this, we have more to talk about." Anya watched her vision flare.

Reichi grinned. "Nothin' much, just planning to save the world and all that," he said in a casual fashion, as if it were a daily event. "What brings you out here? Last i saw you was near suran before the begining of the Blue Dawn."

"Saving the world huh, figures...anyways I actually didnt plan on coming here...it just sort of happened...much like this"

Reichi raised a eyebrow, puzzled. "What, scars? Nothin' big," he said. He bviously didn't grasp the significance of the scars, which made sense. Reichi hadn't put much study into Ansei and such.

Shaka glanced over at the newcomer, who was apparently part Redguard and part ..... Imperial? Breton?

He respected the Ra'Gada he had met. The Nords, Imperials, and even Dunmer liked to boast of themselves as warrior races, but the Redguards truly were. He wondered sometimes why they hadn't built a wide-spanning empire as the Imperials had, but it didn't seem in their nature.

"Shaka," he said, introducing himself to One. He seemed slightly familiar. No doubt if Shaka had touched the Book longer, he would know of the newcomer's past with Loranna's group.

"Remeber the....fiasco in Whitehaven?" Reichi asked in responsce to Nalion's question. "He was there. Shot a fireball at me, too during that whole mess at the end. Oh, and he was the Twisted Tower as well. I don't think you know of that though."

"But, you might've read it out that handy book of yours, eh?"

Posted by: Moonblink Today, 05:29 AM

Luxi sat in the dining room, thinking.
She thought about the problem at hand. Ahjaar had told her everything she knew about the whole tear problem. What bothered her was the fixing part. How can you fix a rip in the universe? Anyway, Loranna apparently had it all worked out. But she still wondered...

Tris and Goranthir returned from the tavern. Tris nodded to Shaka. A servant had caught him already, in the hallway, to tell him about Anya's collapse.

He had never met One, but he knew him by sight. He hoped there wouldn't be any Khajiit invaders, or any explosions.

"I fear, the events at Whitehaven are mostly unknown to me, Reichi."

Lowering his voice towards Reichi, he added.
"I might have had the chance to look at this book longer than most of you, but still... This is a book that must be read. You do not know everything in an instance. That would most probably overwhelm you completely."

Shaka raised a hand in greeting to Tris and Goran. He hadn't heard why they had left to investigate the tavern.

OOC: night everyone.

Ahjaar sat down, feeling useless.

She wasn't sure how she could help Loranna, but she would ask her later.

She got up and went over to Reichi and Nalion, who were talking to the newcomer.

"Hello." She nodded twards Reichi. "Freind of yours, Reich?"
