The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Morrowind Moonlight

Posted by: Loranna Yesterday, 04:13 AM

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary:

Loranna, and her companions, have recently experienced a shift in reality, finding themselves in a world where Azura emerged victorious in the Blue Dawn. The heroes who used the Eiodolon to defeat her never made it, and now Azurites were fighting against Captain Cyndarius's men for Ald Raathim. Dres Jazbet, with his Lady Kethiah, control the castle, Jazbet's precognition making him a deadly foe, and the heroes were forced to flee to town, which Cyndarius's men controlled.

The Eight - Loranna, Herwyn Brand, Shaka, Anya, Isidor, Reichi, Goranthir, and Slyvos - have managed to pass through the spheres, overcome the Source of All Sorrow, and now wait in True Solunastra, resting from their labors while Solin and Arynel work to fix the world.

Meanwhile, Cyndarius, the 103rd Legion, and those who did not go with the Eight battle in the Imperial City - with the world alternating between what it ought to be and the Azurite reality. When last they were seen, they had just reached the palace ...

Oh ... it's also snowing out. Cats and dogs.

Addendum:

QUOTE(Loranna @ Aug 30 2005, 05:49 AM)

And So ... Everyone Has Returned To Ald Raathim, To Celebrate The Continued Existance Of The World

Those who do NOT think they are back in Ald Raathim shall be used as test dummies for Loranna's latest Absorb Ungodly Amounts of Attribue Points Spells and have snowballs thrown at them.

Goranthir is one of the Eight, a 16-year-old Dunmer again, having a snowball fight in True Solunastra.

QUOTE(Xyber02 @ Aug 29 2005, 10:07 PM)

Anya covered her face, and yelled out, "Hey no fair, I'm outnumbered!" That's when two more snowballs were tossed at them from behind. She just laughed as Lotus started to pelt them, and threw some of her own.

*

Goranthir cursed, and threw snowballs back at Lotus. Marksmanship had never been his strong suit.

"Do you know why Summerset never invaded Skyrim?" he yelled, laughing. "It's not because you Nords are tough. It's because it's too bloody cold! Who wants it?!"

"Summerset couldn't take Skyrim in their wildest dreams, my little friend." Isidor winked an tossed a snow ball at Goranthir's neck.

Summary for Nalion
The
Imperial Palace Grounds, Cyrodiil

Nalion, a male Breton mage had fought a terrifying battle at the side of Cyndarius and his 103rd Imperial Legion. The
Imperial City lay in ruins - and at the same time not. Reality was shifting, from the bright world Nalion knew to the dire battleground of Tamriel where armies fought against the dark tide that were the Azurites.

Nalions thoughts were divided, he thought about the Eight who were wandering across the spheres, about an Emperor in danger and a beautiful woman sleeping in a house with no doors.

The mage is about to enter the
Imperial Palace, just one step behind Cyndarius.

OOC: Sorry for the quick exit, and being away for three grueling days (without internet), but my computer crashed. And now you know the truth.

Summary: Raithen is (I guess) battling it out in the Imperial city with the Azurites. He's with the 103'd legion.

QUOTE(Nalion @ Aug 28 2005, 09:36 PM)

Nalion glided from Forsa's saddle besides Cyndarius.
"Let's do what we came here for.", he said and nodded, stepping into the palace.

*

Teleran followed Nalion, making sure that all his weapons were properly sheathed and secured. It wouldn’t do to meet the Emperor with blades drawn as if for attack.

He halted briefly, shaking his head, “Why do I get the feeling that the Eight are having a much better time with the snow than we are?”

OOC Summary

Reichi, one of the Eight, has asssisted the others in defeating the 'Source Of All Sorrow' on the plains of Conflict, and is now in True Solunstra with the group, having a snowball fight. Oh, and due to the nature of Solunastra, everyone's in their true forms, so Reichi resembles a Werewolf, again.
---

Reichi tossed several snowballs at Isidor while he was focused on Goranthir.

Summary: Anya, a Bosmer Rogue, is with the Eight. She's as her true self, a 15 year old girl. She's innocent, shy, emontional, and empathetic.

IC:
Anya plopped back onto the snow. She waved her arms and legs about, making snow angels. She closed her eyes and soaked in the enjoyment, when a snowball hit her in the face. She wiped it off and stared at Lotus, who was just smiling his slack-jawed smile. "Traitor! Goranthir, did you say anything to him?"

Nalion halted and turned to Teleran.
"It's probably because if they have snow, it would probably be white and not blood red, Teleran."
The mage looked at the floor, slippery with blood and clean as white marble, then touched his stomach.
"This has to end. We do our job, they do theirs. I hope they get the book safely across the spheres.", Nalion said and frowned.

"Ah, nothing to worry about," said Raithen, coming up behind them. "If they succeed, then we will come out victorious. If they fail, well, then we all die a horrible, horrible death." He had a mysterious kind of expression on his face. "It's completly out of our control, so there is nothing for us to do other then to succeed here."

Falco has suffered a grievous and painful wound that has taken his eye out. His face looking grotesque, with the empty socket and badly bleeding flesh.

Solin, a tight-lipped Dunmeri mage of some talent was waiting for the eight to arrive at Solunastra, upon their entrance he and the Breton Traveller, Arynel, made preperation to crack a cockatrice's egg that was gifted to Solin in High Rock. He is currently making his way to the snowy lands in Solunastra to announce to the others that the preparation for the egg cracking ceremony is finished.

Solin surveyed the snowball fight a moment before summoning a blast that caused a mound of snow to errupt thirty feet into the air and shower the engaged combatants with small projectiles.

Herwyn Brand could hear the laughter of the others echoing over the hilltop. The sound of it brought a smile to his face. It reminded him of when he was a just a boy. It sounded like they were having a fine time, but still, there was the matter of just where this little brook ended. Herwyn was intent on finding out.

After many wonderful twists and turns, the happy, bubbling stream emerged from the golden ceiling of the forest and tumbled off down an equally golden hill. At the bottom lay the long, neat, purple and green rows of a vineyard.

"Perfect," said Herwyn to himself.

Running down the hill, he passed the little clay-roofed winery and waded in between the grape vines, each carefully tied to little wooden stands and heavy with black and green clusters.

Carefully he examined a bunch of black, glossy grapes, tasting one and weighing the heavy weight of the others in his hand.

"Just perfect," he said again.

A long, bright yellow and black beetle alighted on his hand, crawled along his finger and into the bunch of grapes, where it began chewing away a hole in one of the flawless orbs.

Herwyn smiled. That, too, was just the way a vineyard should be.

"No laughter allowed in paradise, eh, my friend?" Allerleirauh said teasingly, crossing the bridge, now fully dressed, tying up her hair. Tris was with her.

Solin motioned once more and turned to head back the direction he had arrived from.

He led them down a well trodden path through the forests. It was not long until the sound of crashing waves rolling against shore filled their ears. The wooden groves of the forest gave way to open grass matched by an equally open sky. As the trees departed the salty breath of the sea washed over them and then they had arrived. The egg rested in a bed of cloth and freshly trimmed shoots of growth, both silver and golden in their sheen, atop a simple yet elegant stone pillar. Beyond the pillar was naught but air. The ground dropped suddenly and far below a beach was caressed by the ocean.

Arynel stood nearby, waiting.

Allerleirauh bowed to Arynel, then moved to stand near, watching, in her shining white dress.

Tris stood with his hands behind his back; he too felt like praying, but unlike Goranthir, he felt no presence here to speak to, only the great emptiness of the ocean and the breeze and the promise of a new shore someday.

"Within the egg lies everything," Allerleirauh said. "That's the great thing about eggs; nothing goes in, once the egg is formed, and yet a whole life is made within the shell. Now we crack it; exactly, one would hope, as the Argonians say."

Arynel bowed his head as the others approached, and then held out a hand, indicating towards the egg.

“Herein lies our hope, it is the mechanism to bring about the transformation of the world,” Arynel began. “And through your labors you have delivered the exacting critique, to keep the transformation at rights.”

The Breton looked towards Solin, passing a silent look of understanding, and then continued speaking, “As Allerleirauh has said, we will crack this egg, exactly. Within this egg, like any egg, is the source material for something new, in this case, a new existence. It is the source chaos from which we will forge a universe, and the book you have labored so heartily to bring here contains the information to keep our places whole, so that we do not become obsolete.”

The Void

Bosriel, the pale little dark-haired girl, the Void Vampire, had no more hunger. She had no more hope with the quest for the Eidolon abandoned.

There was nothing. And nothingness turns as it always does, to rage.

She was floating between the nothingness of the Imperial Palace, looking at the Azurites and the Imperials, battling it out, and she felt nothing but contempt for all. Hatred boiled over in her.

Her telekinetic touch reached out to hurt them. They would never know why they were being ripped apart, and she did not want their blood. She only wanted their death.

The Wrothgarian Mountains, High Rock

The Azurites in High Rock had largely belonged to witches' covens, worshippers of the Daedra, but a surprising number had answered Azura's call. Gortwog had been alarmed to find many in Orsinium had. There was something in it that called out to the angry, the dispossessed, and there were plenty of those in his camp, he rationalized.

When they swept over his troops in a valley ambush, he knew he was in trouble. The Orc King was too much of a warrior born and bred to be paralyzed by fear: he embraced it, used its energy. But it was a doomed campaign, unless ...

The clarion call of Wayrest sounded forth and Queen Elysana's troops entered the battle. Gortwog could not help but laugh: That she-wolf has actually made good on her alliance, he thought, abandoning his plans for a strategic retreat.

He had handled the insanity of a world thrown back to events that should not have been; he had been shaken but a warrior born, he had fought back against the monsters he knew should have been no more.

He had dealt with the news of his daughter racing through the heavens to save them all; he had already come to terms with her role in ending the previous madness, and quietly acknowledged she had surpassed him. His pride had been bruised but paternal pride, something he never thought he could have, had risen up and he was comforted.

He had taken the refusal of the enemy today to die and stay dead in stride; he had been enjoying the fight too much at that point to really freak out. Yet, still, his weapons ran dry of magicka, and his arms grew tired, and he was losing track of who was alive and who was a ghost, and he knew people he didn't want to see hurt were hurt, or worse.

Seeing enemy and ally alike being ripped apart by unseen hands ...

"Kyne and Mara, preserve us ..." Gram breathed ...

Tel Aedrin, Morrowind

It was, of course, only a matter of time before the Azurites' siege was successful. The Telvanni sorceror whose castle it was summoned many creatures to defend them, and had more spells defensive and offensive than any other wizard Barenziah had known. But defeat was inevitable.

She took a sword from the mantle, as she heard the echo of the gate giving way below.

The Queen Mother of Morrowind would not go without a final fight, she told herself.

Arynel raised the blade above his head, and then brought it down, striking the egg.

Goranthir looked at the faces of his companions, and wondered that they could be so calm. So many mistakes had been made by them during their trials through the Spheres. Was it inconceivable that Solin and Arynel had also made errors in this? Was that just too horrible to contemplate?

Trust he reminded himself, from the sphere of Zenithar. Trust

The young prince took a deep breath.

The wheel of light whirled outward from the egg-center and held fast before the eyes of the onlookers. Its golden pulse was weak and erratic. From the nest a tendril of gold grew a head and curled itself around the egg. It caressed the smooth surface lightly. A second, silver one, appeared and did likewise.

As one they constricted.

The light faded and the wheel became grey, its pulse was all but dead. As the pressure built it shuddered and began to spin slowly about the egg.

Crack!

A fissure spread accross the surface of the egg's shell. Then it exploded, inumerable white fragments flew into the darkened distances and sparkled like faint pin pricks of light. Inside the egg was a ball of white fire blazing so bright it hurt to gaze upon directly. Atop it perched the golden coil which had grown wings and around its base and a pile of ashes the silver one was curled.

Solin laid open the Mythopoeic Tome before him, it hung suspended by an unseen force in the air. With his eyes closed, the apprentice laid his hands on its strange pages and began reciting. The words were impossible, unique, and unspeakable.

The wheel picked up speed.

With each full revolution a spoke flashed a briliant gold until the original radience had been restored and surpassed.

The words Solin spoke took on a life of their own. They lept from his mouth dissolving from the book under his hands, colored with the sound of silver, and flew into the fire.

At the heart of the flame somethign sprouted. A tree grew. Its silver roots crushed the stone pillar beneath it and branches with golden leaves spread out above. Together they turned back on one another, interweaving, forming a perfect shining sphere.

It hung for a moment, spinning in the air, before recceding back to the size of egg. Then it imploded. The blast of wind swept over the rustling the leaves of every tree, the petals of every plant, and the pennants of every tower.

And then all was silent.

Tamriel:

Cyndarius stood, staring up at a blue vaulted ceiling unmarred by smoke... white walls umarred by blood.

In his right hand he held a sword, clean and unchipped. The old, age-spotted hand that held his left tightened its grip for a moment.

The world they remembered, but yet new...

She led them to the fountain; in it, they could see reflected the clouds and the sun and sky... but not of this world.

They were looking upon Ald Raathim, Ald Raathim with fields heavy with the second harvest, Ald Raathim with Nordic chimneys wafting smoke on the humid air of late summer, Ald Raathim with walls intact and Goranthir's new boat floating off shore.

Ald Raathim

QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Aug 30 2005, 12:13 AM)

Jazbet's blind eyes saw him clearly, and he smiled. "The Dour Bard."

Kethiah, his wife, turned to him, narrowing her eyes. "What did you say?  Did you see something?"

"Only victory," Jazbet smiled sadly, and turned back to his generals.

"Tinel," Razbiah called to the footman. "Go and see how many are having breakfast this morning."

She returned to her cooking, adding just the faint kiss of spice into her bread, pudding, and roast.

"No one," Tinel said, returning.

"No one?" Razbiah started.

"Well, Kallen and the servants, but the mistress and the others guests are gone."

"No one tells me anything as usual," the cook shrugged, halving the recipe.

Nalion breathed audibly in relief. Within the blink of an eye, the world looked right again. This world - his world - that he had grown to love.

"They did it.", he said, simple words, but it seemed to him that they were the only appropriate. Despite speaking the obvious.

Nalion let the tension of battle subside slowly, easing his muscles. His frown that he had worn more often than not these past days of fighting vanished from his face.
Instead, there was a smile. Nalion looked up at the ceiling, and through it.
"Thank you..."

Daggerfall City, Daggerfall

"Do you know where Lyssia is?" Landon asked Arisa, "Aurili wants to talk to her about the wedding decorations. its not too far away now..."
"How should I know" Arisa said, "And where is that sister of hers? Last I remember, she was going to the market, but she has not returned."
"Strange" Lacoriz said, I wonder where they are

Somewhere outside of Cyrodiil
"I am alive, but why is it so warm?" lyssia asked, looking at the blue sky abover her
"I was asleep, this was a tent... I wonder what happened?" she said, slowly walking up to the hill, and looking over the brilliance of the Imperial City
"Ah, the world must of gone back to normal" she said smiling, "But how am I going to get back to daggerfall?"

A few hours later
"We found Maranda, but Lyssia is nowhere to be found!"
"God no, do you think shes been kidnapped?" Landon asked
Maranda was groggy, that was somthing she did not want to go through again. When she saw loranna next, she would hit her, thats what her mind decided, as Landon prepared the search Party

Imperial Guild of Mages, Cyrodiil
The young lady aproched the man at the desk, "I would like to travel to Sentenal, thanks, how much would that be?"
"Its a long way, you'll have to hop there is so far. I can get you to Kvatch, from there you could get to Stros M'kai, and then onto Sentenal. It will cost a bit"
the woman placed a sack of coins on the table
"Follow me" the clerk said happily

Daggerfall:

Allerleirauh flew around, her long sleeves and skirt whisking behind her, looking like a giant white butterfly as she flung open doors, cracked windows, and let in the air. It was raining outside. It was a perfect day.

The cook, Ibga Gra-Buznak, started awake with a snort in her chair at the kitchen table, and then aimed a kick at the hindquarters of the scullery boy, Timmon, who was sleeping in a pile of straw.

Dragon, in his deep-armed chair by the fire, sat bolt upright, losing his place in his book.

Skein opened eyes deep and black as the ocean at night and stretched, yawning, then went outside to look for spiders in the garden.

"You did it! YOU DID IT!" Mirea shouted, leaping out of bed. "Everyone, the General's home! The doors are open! WAKE UP!"

Upstairs, a baby started to sniffle, then to wail for attention.

A petite maiden in a dark blue, formal dress ran down to the oceanside in Solunastra. She had the stature of a Breton, but her hair was black as a raven's wing, and her eyes were dark and tilted.

But she needed a rest. Yeah, a long rest. The local head of the guild pointed Lyssia in the direction of a local in, and she would sleep the rest of the day

Jazbet's Study

She was in her old flesh once more - ashen-skinned, blond-haired, tearstreaked and lovely. For a single, long moment, she pauses, letting herself adjust as needed to ...

She opens her eyes, and says " ... Like a dream ..." and she smiles. Though even as she smiles, she feels a part of her pining for the beauty and warmth of the True Solunastra, where figs hung invitingly on the trees and the water tasted of silver and he sound of violins and the snow - oh, the snow was just right ...

And then she sighs, and looks at herself in the mirror for a moment, noting the sorrow in her smile. And she tells herself "Stop that; this is a time for joy." And she thinks of what she and her friends had just achomplished and her smile turns joyous again.

And then, she heads out of her study, calling for Kallen.

Tel Aedrin: Mirea

Mirea couldn't believe her bad luck. Here she was, awake at last, after months of dreamless sleep and months of tepid boredom... and she was expected to be on her best behavior.

She studied the room Queen Barenziah had been given, and decided that rather than asking the guards at the door to let her in, she should just let herself in. Better not pop out of the Void inside the room itself, the General would get mad if she pulled Tris's stupid stunt and made a queen aware of the Void.

She used the window instead, swinging her long, brown legs in, brushing her short leather skirt down, and dropping a courtesy, remembered from long-ago days at an Imperial orphanage.

"Queen Barenziah?" Mirea asked. "I have a message for you about your grandson, Prince Goranthir."

Kallen breezes over an exhaustive list of minutiae, nothing terribly pressing, nothing he can’t handle on his own, but a fair reminder that running a county is just as much work as saving the universe. He is most desirous to know whether Loranna intends to spend some of the gold she received from Barenziah on frontier forts as the Queen suggested.

This is why Allie is still the master and I am still the young up and comer at best, Loranna thinks to herself, Kallen's exacting attention to detail humbling and slightly intimidating her, as always. Still, she was getting better at keeping track of all the little things that Kallen kept track of as easily as breathnig ...

... Well, she was getting better at listening, at least.

"I think if we're going to become the trade center we've been talking about then yes those forts are a good idea," Loranna says. "Hmm, what can you show me about preliminary figures for construction and expected upkeep?"

Ald Raathim:

In the clearing, just at the bottom of the hill a few yards from the castle, there were two flashes of bluish light, seen only by a Nordic shepherd coming back from the hills.

Two Imperial mages, appearing from nowhere, bowed to the man, their red robes sweeping the grass. One of them handed him a very important looking parchment.

The shepherd leaned idly on his crook, pretending to know how to read the thing, and marvelling over it's golden seal, as the two mages drew out a glowing pattern on the ground with their staves.

After a moment's work, one retrieved the parchment and waved for the shepherd to stand a bit farther off, and, with a snap and a great blue flash, two young men appeared wearing beautiful red and gold livery, each carrying a long trumpet.

The shepherd whistled in appreciation, and the trumpeteers raised their horns and blew a long, beautiful call across the valley.

Everyone in Ald Raathim heard the sound.

Barenziah started.  She had sent for her Royal Guards, who were bewildered in Firewatch, to escort her, but they would not arrive ‘til morning.  On hearing her name, Barenziah had pulled out her dagger, and she did not lower it entirely when she replied, ‘Indeed? Who are you?’

She had added that part herself.

Kallen had several figures based on several scenarios, from little shack outposts which would hardly cost a thing, to massive, stone fortifications which would stand up to a siege. It was evident he was inclined towards erring on the side of security if there was the possibility of war. ‘Of course, you could ask House Dres for additional funds for security,’ he added, while showing the astronomical sum which would nearly deplete the surplus.

Loranna's lips purse together. "I suppose we could ..." she says, trying to weigh the various options before her. "Maybe we could start off more modestly, build up from there as we get more revenue ..."

The expression on her face shows that she's thinking the extra security would be rather nice. She begins wondering if she could help defray some of these costs in the traditional adventurer manner ...

There was already quite a crowd running up from the village to see what the excitement was about.

A very important looking fellow in white robes had just come through the temporary guildgate, followed by four golden-armored Imperial Guards bearing an ornate, very heavy looking coffer.

The man in white bowed gracefully and stayed that way, waiting for Loranna's approach.

Mirea batted her russet-colored eyelashes. Surely Tris wasn't getting it on with an old Dunmer lady. It was almost impossible to resist the sisterly temptation to say something that would permanently destroy any chance Tris had of ever making time with her again.

But she did resist.

Mirea courtesyed again.

"I'll tell him, your majesty," she said. "Mournhold."

No one appreciates the things I do that are really heroic, Mirea thought, as she left to make her report to the General.

"Lady Loranna Pyrel of Ald Raathim, The Most High Uriel Septim VII, Scion of Emperors, King of Earth and Sky, Lord of Shining Hosts, Protector of Oathman, Freeman, and Yeoman, Guarantor of Right and Justice, Broad Blessing of Thrones and Poers, Cynosure of Celestial Glory, sends his regards to the Eight Heroes of the Nine Spheres."

At this he bowed again.

"Although The Most High Emperor knows that no word or gift exists which would adequately convey His gratitude, He, in His generosity, none the less wishes to deliver a token of appreciation."

At this he gestured toward the coffer, which was ceremoniously placed at Loranna's feet, where it sank into the soft earth.

Loranna's breath catches in her throat; the Emperor!

"The Emperor's gratitude is a greater gift than all the gold in Tamriel," Loranna says sincerely. "I am humbled by His generosity, and thankful to have been one of the Eight and the many who could serve Him and the Empire."

"So I shall," said the man, bowing again and stepping aside.

With a huge electric-blue flash, Nalion, dressed in fine new robes, appeared in the magic circle, followed shortly by Cydarius, looking rather embarrased, and then an almost unrecognizably clean Gram, and a regally polished Kratos, and all the rest who had fought so hard to save the Emperor's life.

Nalion stepped off the circle with a smile on his face and drew back the hood of his robe.

"Words cannot describe my gratitude. Very well done, all of you.", the mage said, tugging at his robe. "You came through for us right on time and what was mended above was mended below."

Nalion looked at the assembled heroes, then down at the propsering town of Ald Raathim.
"It's good to be here again." Wondering how they had fared in the spheres, the Breton was glad that they had not seen the fierce battle in the Imperial City and more terrifyingly, the rifts in reality.

Loranna's eyes widen and she laughs with delight. "Nalion! Cyndarius ... DAD!"

"You didn't think I had left forever now did you?" Gram rumbles, as Loranna throws herself into his arms. "My girl ... one of the Eight Heroes of the Nine Spheres; no other Pyrel has ever risen so high ..."

"Dad stop that; you were just as brave as the rest of us," Loranna chides her father, before sweeping everyone else into her embrace. "Nalion dear, you look stunning; Cyndarius, you did it ..."

A Breton wearing simple travelers clothes made his way over the paths leading away from Ald Raathim proper and up in elevation, up into the mountains where the air was thinner, purer. Arynel took a seat on a boulder and took in a deep breath.

“Hello, sky, let me not forget you in my earthbound ponderings. Hello, earth, let me not forget you in my skyward wanderings. Hello, sun, do you remember the song the stars sang the day you turned away from the world? Was it a merry or mournful, and would you, if given the chance, choose different? All things travel through their respective sequence, day to night and day once more, the hours past swiftly by, birth and death and all things are made new. Walk until the paths move to greet you, and then step off into the ethereal promise.”

Posted by: raithen Yesterday, 06:13 PM

Raithen emerged from the circle. He saw the earth, the sky, and Ald Raathim in the distance. He smealt the smells of the earth. He tasted the rays of the sun. He regenerated his soul under the deep, blue sky. At last... it was over...

Beutifull...

He thought of all that had been done, all that has been done, and all that will be done. He breathed in the fresh air.

It's over...

To think, after all that, after such a close encounter with being erased... He was calm.

Then he saw the crowd of people around him, and a smile crept up onto his face.

Nalion waved towards the Argonian Battlemage and crossed the short distance between them. The smile he had carried since stepping out of the transportation gate that brought the others and him back from Cyrodiil still rested on his face.
The merry gleam in his brown eyes, the smile and the fine red-and-blue robes he was clad in gave the Breton an air of serenity. The robes were a bit of an unusual sight on the mage, who usually preferred simpler clothes, but they were certainly not unfitting.

A shadow seemed to glide over Nalion's face, like if the wing of a raven blocked the light from the sun for the blink of an eye. Nalion remembered the battle and the bloodshed too well. The ghosts rising from the dead bodies and continuing to fight when Arkay had lost control. Unseen fingers - or were they claws? - ripping the living and the dead apart at the height of the battle. There was only one possible explanation to that: Bosriel.

Nalion's expression cleared.
"Please don't ask about the battle. While it has not happened in this reality, the memories of those who have consciously witnessed and fought in it remain.", he asked the Argonian.

"There will be ways of you to solve this trivial problem of money, Shaka.", Nalion laughed. "I think it may be solved already. You'll see."

The mage's expression turned soft upon hearing Doll's name, with a hint of self-doubt and insecurity. "She's been in Solunastra? So then the Doors are open again. I should have known. I have not seen her yet..."
But my heart is longing.

Posted by: syronj Yesterday, 07:51 PM

Shaka nodded, more soberly this time.  "I'm sorry, Nalion.  It's too early for me to be bringing up memories of your battles."

"I saw Doll in the distance, when she had woken in Solunastra.  She ran to thank Solin and the others.  Beautiful indeed."  Have I put my foot in it again, as usual? thought Shaka to himself.

"Perhaps you can send word to her through Tris or Loranna soon.  . . . I will be hoping for you, my friend.  And thanks again for helping to preserve the Spear of Bitter Mercy and the Dragonbone Cuirass for me."

For a while, Goranthir was acting like Tris, and Herwyn Brand had to punch him in the face, after he shot his mouth off. Shaka was a redguard, too. It seems that that was his true form."

QUOTE(Sheogorath @ Aug 30 2005, 09:57 PM)

Goranthir greeted all his friends warmly, but a group of Nordic shipwrights who had been alerted by the clarion call of the Imperials called him over.

"It's basically finished," said Jolman, the leader. "The earings is tight, but if you ease away and freshen the nip, she’ll be a likely lass.  I know yer in the middle a party, but when you have a moment --"

The boy couldn't wait.  He yelled to the others: "I'll be right back!"

Goranthir and most of the shipwrights went down to the port to look at the ship, while Jolman stayed behind, catching Kallen.

They talked for a while diplomatically about issues related to the harbor, and the future of shipbuilding in Ald Raathim.

*

Nalion shook his head in laughter as he watched Goranthir excitedly walk to the docks.
"Come back soon, Goranthir! I don't want you to miss the celebration.", he shouted after him. "Have always good winds and calm sea!"

The mage turned back to Isidor.
"I see.", Nalion said simply. Allerleirauh's letters had given an impression of what the Eight would have to face, but the actual experience was another matter.

Shaka walked back over to Nalion and Isidor just as the Nord was bidding farewell. "I think Loranna and some of the others are going to take the reward back to the castle. I'll probably join them, but I'm going to look for Anya first. I figure if I can spot Lotus, she can't be too far away."

He walked to the bay for a moment, scanning the skies for Anya's companion.

The Emperor's gift was truly generous indeed; Loranna had never seen so many thousand-drake pieces before, and trying to figure out how much was in the chest made her head spin.  Later, the reward could be divied up among its intended recipients.

For now though, she hurried through the castle, with the word:  There was to be a celebration tonight for those who had returned to Ald Raathim today.  As big a celebration as could be managed.

*

Kallen was pulled into the preparations, though he did take a moment to tell Loranna that he had spoken to the Nordic shipwrights and the native fishermen, and she would be well served to include them in her plans for a new harbor and trade center. Both agree that there's room for both shipbuilding and fishing, but at the moment, things were too crowded, and both industries were being hurt.

Then he returned to helping arrange the festivities with his usual air of grace and efficiency.

Isidor laughed, a genuine laugh. "Well, it was no picnic in the spheres, I'll tell you." He smiled, and said "Want to grab a sandwich in the dining hall, and I'll tell you all about it? The Dunmer and the Spheres?" He winked.

*

"Sure thing Isidor. Then I'll tell you the story of how I lost my eye. By the way I took down 45 1/2 Azurites in that battle." He said that last sentence swelling with pride. His voice conyained only a hint of the pompous [censored] he usually was.

"Oh, you mean that "slip in time?" Yeah, it was auful, its like everything changed," she looked into her tea, her eyes seemingly glazed over, "I was in Daggerfall preparing for the wedding, then I found myself at the Pale Pass being besieged by fiends that should not exsist in this world anymore. I was the only one who remembered the old world, it was like I had gone crazy," she said, a tear forming in her eye, "But then, someone came and told me it was because someone messed around with things they should't, and I remembered the past because I was a "Hero" of sorts. It looks like those who messed up the world fixed it again," she said, her tear gone, and a forced smile on her face, "And I found myself outside the Imperial City, the world was back to normal. Loranna replies to Kallen "We shall include them, then; we'll discuss matters with both groups tomorrow. Thank you dear."

Then, it was back to work preparing the party.

===

At the Drunken Guar, Gram was laughing and sharing mead with various members of the 103rd, recounting individual tales of bravery. Gram's story of what he'd been doing before he ran into the 103rd in Skyrim brought many appreciative guffaws, and a couple comments on how he'd done pretty well - for a Nord.

And Gram was in such a jubiliant mood that he didn't throw a punch at all, though there were a couple arm-wrestling matches and Gram spent the latter part of the day rubbing his biceps with a grimace. But everyone was happy to have the world back again, and to have helped save the Emperor, and so moods were high.

High enough to help take some of the sting out of the fact that a powerful, fierce Redguard woman was not there to share in the drinks or the stories, or to slam Gram over the head like everyone had been anticipating for being a donkey's butt.

Finding the kitchen a whirlwind of activity, Shaka and Anya grabbed a couple of sandwiches to tide them over until the night's festivities.  They stood on the balcony of the guest wing to finish them.

Shaka had a sudden thought, and tried to phrase it casually:  "You know, we'll have to make sure someday that the baths came back in as good as shape as the rest of the castle .  . . ."  Seeing Anya's expression, he said again, "Well, someday."

Anya just shook her head and laughed a little. "I wasn't all in control then, I won't react quite the same way, I think. I'm over my shyness, I would hope."

Clearing his throat, Gram says "So is this just a general liking of Dunmer women born from hanging out in Ald Raathim, or is your eye falling on a specific one, eh?"

"When I saw her last, Anya, she was in a healer's wagon and pretty much out of it, though alive.  They told me there was a chance she'd never walk as well again . . ."

After exchanging what little they knew with each other, Shaka and Anya left Goranthir and headed to the Drunken Guar.

Anya looked up, "Why didn't you tell me? How is she? Where is Diamond?"

Before Isidor could reply, Anya and Shaka walked into the tavern. Shaka was glad to see that this wasn't the nightmare Drunken Guar that he had last seen -- mystic blades whirling in a roped-off end of the taproom, half-cleaned bloodstained floors, the lot -- but that instead, it had its usual cheery fire and no sign of the gates to the Spheres.

The lovers smiled at each other for a second, and then Shaka shouted "Legion!" in salute, without irony.

Shaka looked at Anya again, in apology. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, Anya," he said. "With all that happened in the Spheres, I forgot. Diamond is alive as far as I know, though she was badly wounded in the escape from the Azurites' Ald Raathim. While she was being treated by the Legion's healers, I met Teleran, Shai, Marein, and others. The three were back in their separate flesh again."

Falco yawned and headed to the tailor. The eyepatch was done earlier than he had suspected. It fit perfectly, tucking below the middle spine on the back of his head. It was made of a strong black cloth that the tailor said was practically ubreakable.

"Thank you friend. I like it. Makes me look quite dashing don't you agree. Now what do I owe you?"

"No charge for a friend of Loranna's. Oh and it does indeed make you look dashing mister Redflash."

Falco left to wander around the town, looking for Tsei.

"One in particular. A beautiful, firebrand of one, to be exact." Isidor recounted in some detail Isidor's two meetings with Kethiah.
"...and, I'll be seeing her sometime in Daggerfall."

"Hail!" Isdior called to Anya and Shaka

Tsei saw Falco walking around, and she cast invisibility on herself. She was behind him in a moment. While he looked down for a minute, she jumped onto his back. "Surprise!"

"Aaahh!" Falco fell to the ground laughing. "Tsei! Where have you been?" Falco then tried something he had never tried be fore he attempted to kiss her on the cheek. It was awkward at best due to his lack of lips.

Gram takes a hearty swig of his mead. "Ah, the woman we went to find back in Dagon Fel. An assassin I hear, but still ... heh, best of luck to you lad. Strike while the iron's hot, they say."

Loranna walks in to the tavern in time to see Tsei jump Falco and go "Well, someone's happy to see one another." She chuckles a bit. "How is everyone?"

Tris ran down the path from the boats to the tavern.

"This is new for me," he said, bursting through the doors. "A step behind everyone else. So much to catch up on."

He had changed clothes since the last time they saw him; there was something else different, too. Some stress that had shown on his face before, even when he laughed, was gone now.

He still had a scar, raised and red, across his cheek from his ear almost to his upper lip.

"Tris, welcome, and thanks for all your hard work," said Shaka, knowing that several of the group would know just how much work Tris had done as a messenger through the Void.

He said to Tris in a lower voice, "I'm sorry about the scar. Can the healers do anything?"
