The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ Morrowind Moonlight Reflections

Posted by: Loranna Aug 31 2005, 03:48 AM

Well, it's been a while since we've had a Reflections thread smile.gifYAY! We did it!

I'll start off with our usual blurb, for some attempt at consistancy:

===

Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.

Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:

This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!

'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP). This is not just a bunch of disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character at the time.

So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear about what cannot be done without permission:

1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although most people realize they can't harm another person's character without permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing, saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the player involved.

2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations), political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.

Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.

For information on reaching #Loranna_RP via Mirc or Chatspike, look http://www.ravensky.org/irc/.

Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing them.

Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary of the current state of things:

The world has been restored; the Azurites, once more, are no more, as they should have been. The Emperor is safe, and grateful for the heroic efforts of those who fought to save his life, and those of the valiant warriors who traversed the Nine Spheres to help set the world to rights.

The heroes are now back at Ald Raathim, where a celebration is to be held for them. While preperations are being made, many people are resting in the tavern The Drunken Guar.

People, feel free to conitnue playing; props to everyone who participated in Morrowind Moonlight for helping make our biggest RP thread yet. This one was a blast.

ooc summary: We saved the world, yay! Thanks for playing with me, guys. It was difficult getting 8 people with different schedules together sometimes, and difficult keeping the people left at home happy, but it all came together in the end. This is a great group and I'm honored to be a part of it.

Tris Gaerington, male Breton, went home to the Guildhouse in Daggerfall to see his companion, Ciel, for the first time in months. Afterwards he delivered the group's RSVPs to Lyssia Biennie. Now he is in the tavern in Ald Raathim - where he has promised to buy Herwyn Brand a drink.

Allerleirauh has business to catch up on in Daggerfall, but should join the group in Ald Raathim shortly.

The Solunastra guildhouse, with associated members, is awake and open once again.

QUOTE(syronj @ Aug 30 2005, 08:50 PM)

"Tris, welcome, and thanks for all your hard work," said Shaka, knowing that several of the group would know just how much work Tris had done as a messenger through the Void.

He said to Tris in a lower voice, "I'm sorry about the scar.  Can the healers do anything?"

*

"I'm not sure why I still have it, to be honest with you," Tris said, laughing sheepishly and rubbing the side of his face. "My foot fixed itself when I came back from the spheres. It seems like the scar would too. Ciel said it's because it's heroic, but that makes me wonder if I've invented a whole new brand of vanity."

OOC Summary: This was indeed a fun RP. Glad I had the oppertunity to drag down the RP with my crappy posts. I can now consider myself a vet of the RP. A good feeling too as I'm no longer a noobie.

Falco Redflash, male argonian rogue is currently outside the tavern with Tsei, having just kissed her. Albeit awkwardly.

"Aaahh!" Falco fell to the ground laughing. "Tsei! Where have you been?" Falco then tried something he had never tried be fore he attempted to kiss her on the cheek. It was awkward at best due to his lack of lips.

*

Tsei "kissed" him back, and hugged him tight.

QUOTE(Loranna @ Aug 30 2005, 09:41 PM)

Gram takes a hearty swig of his mead.  "Ah, the woman we went to find back in Dagon Fel.  An assassin I hear, but still ... heh, best of luck to you lad.  Strike while the iron's hot, they say."

Loranna walks in to the tavern in time to see Tsei jump Falco and go "Well, someone's happy to see one another."  She chuckles a bit.  "How is everyone?"

*

"Isn't it funny? You were there to find her, and you found me instead." He winked.

"Great!" Isidor said with a smile. He added in an undertone to Lorrana "Everything worked out, huh? We saved the world, and Kethiah isn't mad at me." He grinned.

Posted by: syronj Aug 31 2005, 04:04 AM

His arm around Anya, Shaka nodded at Tris' reply and clinked tankards with him and others.

Shaka sat back and reflected for a moment. In the space of three or so months, the Argonian battlemage had gone from drifter to member of a band of brothers and sisters. He had impulsively introduced himself to two Ladies of the Dres one morning, Loranna and Vendama; plunged into a murder mystery upon the reappearance of the assassin Kethiah; taken Ald Raathim's dangers for his own; and helped save Creation.

He glanced at the blonde bosmer Rogue, Anya, and thought to himself: not least, I found I could love again. Not bad for a Ra'Gada soul in Argonian flesh.

Loranna grins at Isidor. "That is good news, dear," she says. "I'd hate to have her mad at me. So, you and she will be seeing more of one another, hmm?"

She looks over at Tris, raising her hand slightly, but realizing after a moment she couldn't fix his scar.

ooc -- Absolutely, a blast. A bit hairy schedule-wise, like Allie said, but well worth it. I'm logging off now for the night (brother's birthday), but I had to post one little thing for Goranthir. You can assume he's with the group, drinking and slapping backs. wink.gif

Goranthir stepped into the tavern. "Well, I went to Diamond's shop to see the figurehead. I guess you could call it breaking and entering," he smiled a little. "It's unfinished, but something about that is beautiful ... Anyhow, I'm going to put it on my ship, and when's she's better, she can take it back and finish it."

Reichi took a sip of his jug of Sujamma, looking out over the Tavern. The celebration. This was much better than the other reality, no Azurites, no Winged Twilights in the sky, his friends enjoying themselves instead of fending for their lives. He did miss that wonderful armor the dragons had gifted him, but it was a small price to pay. And at the very least it had saved him from a broken arm/shoulder, and then saved him from getting spear, both in Stendarr's sphere. Not to mention protecting him on the plains on conflict.

"Can't have everything," he said to himself and took another sip. Geuss its back to racking up a armor repair bill of epic proportions.

"That sounds like an excuse for another party!" Tris said. "Christening Goranthir's boat. We'll do that tomorrow, when we all wake up and shake off our hangovers, and then we can all go dance at Lady whatsit's wedding."

He craned his head to see outside. Yes, the Dunmer he had paid were bringing it in. A crate of bottles of the best wine you could buy in Wayrest, where wine actually tasted like something, not that Daggerfall swill. And it didn't look as if the porters were shaking it too badly.

"Drinks on me!" Tris said.

IC: Anya just laughed, "Putting up with you. You should hear your you daughter, Gram. Anya, don't do this. Anya don't do that. Don't run through the castle. Anya, don't steal from the kitchen." She took a swig from her drink as she leaned back on Shaka.

H winked at Gram, but because he was with just one eye it was percieved as a blink. "I came here to Ald Raathim amazed. I had been pulled out of a slump by people who believed in me. Raising his voice, he added, "You too, Falco, even though I wanted to leave your crimson-clad self in Dagon Fel that first day."

"That was a good speech," he said, meaning it.

"Should we be flattered that he went and prepared a speech for us," Gram asks with a grin, "or worried that he wrote down what to say ahead of time?"

He claps Falco on the shoulder. "I thought I saw something in you when we met in Dagon Fel, Falco; it looks like I was right."

Loranna goes over to embrace Falco. "I'm glad you stuck it out with us," she says. "And I thought the speech was pretty, even if my father didn't."

"Did I say I didn't?" Gram asks, getting a shocked expression.

"Oh come on Dad ... it's plain on your face."

"That's the mead making my face flush!"

"Uh-huh." And Loranna laughs.

"It was a good speech," Tris said, alternating sips of wine with bites of something that had probably started life as a scrib, but wasn't too bad, really. He wasn't drunk yet. He intended to be, certainly; but he also intended to take his own sweet time getting there. "Heros come in unexpected packages, Falco. Loranna's good at flushing them out of the underbrush. Loranna... about Lady Whatsit. Lady Lyssia? Lyssia. She remembers everything that happened. She's one of us."

Loranna has brief mental images of herself running through the underbrush, pulling heroes out left and right, and has to turn away to retain any semblance of dignity.

Tris's last comment catches her ear though, and she turns back to look at him. "Maranda's sister remembers?" she asks, somewhat surprised. "Interesting ... makes me even more eager to meet her now. How did she seem to be handling being in a nightmare world and now being back?"

Loranna takes Tris's hands. "Just don't have two left feet now," she says, though her tone is light and fond.

"Lead the way my good man," she smiles.

Tris kissed the tops of Loranna's hands, each in turn, and let them go.

"Be right back," he said.

The tavern's regular musicians were Dunmer, not professionals but villagers who enjoyed playing instruments and singing; tonight there were a few Nords as well. Tris had seen just enough of austere Dunmer dancing to know that he didn't know enough to do it without making a fool of himself. Nordic dancing, that was a little better. What he knew best was Breton court dancing. Somewhere between Breton court dancing with its flourishes and Nordic dancing with its stamping and shouting was High Rock rustic dancing, common to most of the human provinces of the Empire, and that was what Tris hoped to convince the musicians to play for.

After a brief discussion, he returned, convinced that the measures would at least have the right number of beats.

"This may be interesting. Come on," he said to one of his friends among Dram's guards, standing nearby. "We need three couples for this dance, grab a partner."

When the couples were all assembled, he took one of Loranna's hands, put his other hand on her waist, and led them off. He was shorter than she was; but he was a very good dancer.

Gildiir raises her eyebrows at Tris's suggestion, but she gamely goes up to a Nord that had caught her eye and says "So ... would you like to dance?"

When the dancing starts, Loranna looks enthralled; any hesitation she once had when it came to dancing was gone. She follows his lead effortlessly, the two blond humans drawing most every eye in the house.

"Now this is the way to celebrate what we've done," Loranna smiles, her hair flowing behind her and her tearstreaks giving her expression a joyful counterance.

Gildiir, for her part, moves like a gazelle, her slender, graceful Bosmer limbs contrasting with the stalwart build of her dance companion. Still, both seem to be enjoying themselves.

The music was, it must be confessed, a trifle odd... the eerie sound of a Dunmer shell horn mingled with the melody of a Velothi lute, and the energetic, complex rhythms of several Nordic hand drums. The musicians were joined by a Nord with a small sack pipe, and a Khajiit with some sort of mouth harp. Another set of three couples joined them; tables and chairs were pushed aside to give more room.

The pace increased as the Dunmer slipped into a speed more natural to them, and Tris found himself laughing as the couples rushed to keep up, whirling together, their feet flashing. A village girl flung her hat, which kept slipping off her head, to a companion. One of the men kicked off his shoes. All eyes were on Tris and Loranna, the leaders of the dance.

"When we make the turn to come back down from the top of the hall," Tris said to Loranna, between turns and breaths, "Instead of spinning holding hands, I'm going to toss you. Be ready for it."

Loranna found herself able to keep up with the new pace easily; after pounding through the zombie hordes in Gemin and the Azurites at Red Mountain, and any number of desperate adventures, you learned how to keep the pace no matter what. She was grateful that she had elected to wear shoes suited for dancing and partying today.

The music, though odd, was pleasing to Loranna's ears nonetheless; the different elements were working together. She found herself wishing to hear Slyvos's flute among the instruments, though Slyvos was a private man when it came to his music. She would just have to dance alone for him later, to the sound of his haunting melodies.

"You daring man you," she says to Tris with a grin. "I'm ready when you are."

Loranna jumped, just a little, which was probably a good thing; she was a big girl. Or maybe Tris was stronger than he thought he was. Loranna flew into the air, and he caught her gently by the waist, setting her down to the other side of him, her skirts billowing around her.

Tris laughed, hearing the pounding of the other dancers' feet momentarily dissolve into confusion as the lead couple did something unexpected. The Bosmer girl and her partner were the only ones who kept up with them without missing a step.

"You did that on purpose!" the girl with the hat called, laughing. "I'll show you!"

She waved her hand, and in response the musicians quickened their pace, playing each measure faster and faster. The crowd had started to clap along and stomp their feet in time. Now they cheered as the dancers whirled, matching the new pace, trying not to lose their places in the music. Any mistake would lead to hopeless confusion.

One couple dropped out, then another, and then the two sets of three couples became a single set of three couples again. Tris winked at Loranna as the dance brought them face to face for a moment. The Bosmer girl turned the wrong way, clapped at the wrong time, and said a foul word, causing the onlookers to burst into excited laughter. Now it was Tris and Loranna versus the girl who had thrown her hat, and her partner.

At this speed, when Tris spun Loranna by her hands, her feet left the floor. The crowd whooped with delight.

It was the other girl's partner who lost control first, spinning her so enthusiastically that he sat down on his rump in the sawdust covering the tavern floor. The girl stumbled and fell on top of her partner, laughing.

"Should have known better than to challenge me to a game of speed," Tris called to her, holding Loranna's hand aloft, to wild cheering.

"My lady, always a pleasure," Tris said, with an exaggerated formal bow, bending over Loranna's hand.

"Always a pleasure indeed," Loranna says, acting like a proper lady for at least a few minutes - though the grin on her face was more in keeping with a barmaid's simple exuberance.

Loranna's heart was pounding, but she didn't mind; the dance had been more than worth it, and she curtesies to the crowd, evoking even more wild cheering. In the background, Gram laughs and mutters to whoever is nearest "Her mother used to dance like that," while conveniently forgetting that Mista's father had hated it when his daughter started dancing fast enough to make her skirts swirl up.

Gildiir shakes her head, mock-glaring at Tris. "I'll show you next time," she promises, though she does bow to Loranna and says "Well danced, my Lady."

"Thank you dear - everyone was wonderful," Loranna says, looking over to Tris and adding "But next time if you want to win, you all better pick a slow dance."

The girl who had thrown away her hat goes to dust her partner off, clicking her tongue. Loranna sits down and smiles again at Tris.

"Think we'll wow them as much at the wedding?" she asks, slipping off her shoes and sipping her mead.

Good game and well played everyone. smile.gif

Wow, we did quite a lot over these last 43 (!) threads: banished ghosts, dealt with Dunmer Great Houses, talked to illustrous members of nobility, saved the Emperor and cracked an egg without messing up. wink.gif

I had a lot of fun playing with you all. Thank you so much!

Nalion followed the tunes of the musicians to the Drunken Guar and entered. He was clad in fine red-and-blue robes and wore a content smile on his face. Helping himself to a glass of wine, he took a seat near the companions and watched the dance.

"In High Rock the clothes are better and the dancers worse," Tris said. "So if we dress well, we're set."

He drained half a glass of wine and nodded a greeting to Nalion.

Loranna laughs. "I'll speak with my seamstress about a new outfit or three, then," she says. "Hmm ... to wear the anklets with bells on them or no ..."

Seeing Nalion, Loranna bows to him, then hugs him briefly. "We're warming up for the further festivities we've got planned," she says with a grin. "Not to mention building up an appetite for Thinias's pastries - and Razbiah was using some spice when I was in the kitchen last too."

"Thank you for running all these errands, Tris. You're invaluable, my friend.", Nalion said and smiled.
"Feels good to be here again after these last days.", he said and looked around the tavern.

Nalion pulled himself up to his full height, or at least what 'full height' was for a Breton and collected all these roughly fifteen years he was older than Tris to form the mockery of a haughty expression.

"Son, when you're as old as I am you'll see that...", Nalion began before slumping back and beginning to laugh heartily.
"Tris, I don't know if I should punch or kiss you."

"Sometimes it seems that being in the right place at the right times just works out fine.", the mage grinned, but turned serious for a moment. "It's a good feeling to have friends - even in high places. I hope though that I will not be in dire need to have to collect them. Favours should be passed on, and not be returned."

"To friends truer than steel!" Tris said, lifting his glass in a toast and draining the other half of his wine. "I'm just a little drunk right now, and I intend to be a lot drunk by the end of the night. I have no place I need to be, and that's a good feeling."

Mirea entered the tavern, short skirt switching with her movement, long ears sticking up through her unruly red hair. She looked at the assembly, then put her hands on her hips. "I was supposed to report back to the General here, where is she?"

"Are you yelling at me?" Tris asked lazily. "How should I know?"

Moments later, Doll entered behind Mirea. "The General is late, the baby's teething, she says she might come or she might not but I'm to take your report."

Doll smiled at Nalion, and curtseyed.

"Oh great," Mirea said. "Now I report to you?"

"Truer than steel!", Nalion said, lifted his glass and drained it.
Nalion just finished to greet Mirea as he saw Doll and immediately his heart began to beat faster. He rose quickly.
"No Doll, please no curtsey.", he began to say, feeling awkward as he used to be when he was adressed too formally. Then he realized that "No" was probably not the best greeting.

Doll greeted Nalion with a smile which, while not as enthusiastic as the smile she reserved for Master Solin, was far more encouraging than the wicked grin she had given Herwyn Brand earlier.

"But you're so respectable looking in those fine robes," she said. "I should treat you with respect, shouldn't I?"

Doll's dark eyes looked even more tilted than usual, when she smiled.

Mirea made a face in mockery of Doll, and sat down at the bar. "Give me something fit for a Bosmer to drink. No, not sujamma, that's made from plants. I guess I'll have the mead, honey is made by bees, even if mead does taste like somebody peed in it."

"Pee would also pass the test for a Bosmer to drink," the bartender said, clearly not appreciating her tone of voice. "I can oblige, if you like."

Mirea just laughed.

"Doll, that's not needed between us.. and these clothes... well.", Nalion smiled in return. "I'm feeling uncomfortable when bowed to."
The mage offered her a seat near him and waved to the barmaid to bring whatever Doll wished for. The sentences of the last conversation between Doll and him raced through his mind.
"How are you, Doll? I'm glad that the House is open again.", Nalion asked, trying for conversation to just hear her voice and to stall for time to calm himself.
The conversation between the barkeep and Mirea touched him marginally, yet he smiled at the Bosmeri's comment. "Is she always that way?", he asked Doll with a wink.

"Always what way? Mirea's my darling, we're like sisters, aren't we?" Doll said, and Mirea grinned at her.

Doll was drinking local liquor, not Tris's wine. "I can drink wine at home," she said. "I've been well, I suppose. I've been asleep! I wish I had dreams, at least, to share with you... but my life is so very boring..."

She placed a tiny, white hand on the crook of Nalion's elbow.

"You two are amazing, dears." Nalion said to both. His own cup of wine had been refilled by an observant barmaid, but he had not touched it since.
"There is so much to share, Doll.", Nalion replied, remembering the day in Solunastra's library and later at the docks of Daggerfall. His hand touched hers lightly and he looked at her, eyes calm. *

"All weddings are dangerous.", Nalion grinned. "Especially when some dear guests are part of it, too." He gave Tris and Loranna a wry grin.
"Well, and that way, I am quite sure that we will only miss one thing when going there: boredom."

Loranna looks over at Tris and says, just as softly "You do know you're the best man for mine, right?"

She grins.

"Sly gets to pick his own best man, doesn't he?" Tris said, tilting his head and smiling at Loranna. The light from the candle on the table picked up the gold flecks in his green eyes. "I could wear a skirt and you could call me your maid of honor. But only for you, my dear."

Doll smiled a private little smile. "That's not exactly the danger I was worried about. But it will be good to go somewhere fancy, I think. And with such good company."

Loranna laughs. "I'll keep that in mind," she says, kissing Tris on the cheek and thinking to herself that Allie still had first dibs on the position. "We'll see who Sly wants."

She looks at Tris appraisingly, muttering "You in a skirt ... you know, I can almost see that. Something to bring out your eyes ..." She laughs, admiring the way the light caught the gold in Tris's eyes.

Nalion's hand squeezed Doll's lightly as he smiled at her.

"I'd pay to see you in a dress, Tris," Mirea said.

"I'd pay not to see it," Doll said. "He's prettier than I am."

"Not like a girl though," Tris protested. "I don't look anything like a girl!"

Nalion sighed, yet his expression grew more determined.
"Doll, I remember what you said to me when we last met. I've learnt one thing though and that by the hard way. One cannot run away from danger forever. I cannot run away. I shall turn and face the danger and walk through it. I don't know where I heard this from, but it has truth in it: 'Stand fast in the flame and the flame will have no authority over you. "That sounds like something the General would say," Doll said. Her smile had disappeared; instead she looked troubled. She stood up. "Nalion... I should go now. Please take care of yourself. Mirea, come with me, I would like that report."

Nalions smile and the calm expression had vanished after seeing Doll's troubled look. The Breton looked after the two girls, then stemmed both elbows on the table and rested his head in his upheld palms. There was a haunted expression on his face, mixed with uncertainty and doubt.

Shaka had switched to Tris' superb wine, and was trying to pace himself. "It figures that Tris and Loranna would be excellent dancers, on top of everything else," he said good-naturedly.

His smile faded when he saw Nalion's distress. If Doll doesn't reciprocate Nalion's feelings, she's foolish, he thought to himself. Better to stay out of it for now.

"Don't say that in front of her, you'll get back a stream of Bosmer curse words if you're lucky. "Thanks. I'm going to go for a walk." Isidor rose, and walked out of the tavern. He wandered away from the cheers and laughing, down to the docks. He sat on a crate, and looked out at the bay. Isidor wanted nothing more then to have Kethiah sitting next to him.

OOC: Been great, people! Glad I could join half-way through and contribute nothing. biggrin.gif

... Seriously, this has been, quite possibly, the best RP I have ever taken place in.

Raithen entered the tavern, robes swirling, spectacles straight, happy expression, beared groomed, and his staff as a walking stick. The bar was bright, flashy, crowded, fun, full of celebration, and was flooded with music. He smiled a smile to beat all friendly smiles. He stood in the doorway for a few seconds, watching everyone have the time of their lives.

He came into the normaly-dark bar and sat down on a stool. He ordered a brandy and, as he waited for it, looked around at the festivities. Every single person looked great. Heck, even the dirty tables looked great. Of course, that could also have been just a trick of the ligth.

His brandy arrived, and he took a sip, savouring the taste. He reached into his robes and pulled out a brown, leather book. It was nameless, and was freshly written. He opened it up onto the first page that was blank except for a few words in the middle. The Unwinding of the World.

He put the book back into his robes, and smiled again. There was a party going on. And he was damned if he was going to miss it. He took a big gulp of his brandy...

Hurst: "Nah...We shant fear him...an' if'n he crosses our paths again...we'll have a shiny new wolfen rug"

"Well spoken...could everyone keep it down a notch"

Uniqua: "...besides he still has the Amulet on, and the only way to take it off is a certain incantation...so for now he cant change"

Sona : "At least thats a plus...he cant hurt anyone as a wolf...which isn't saying much about his human form"

"Ok...my heads stopped throbbing, so we need to think of a way to build up some money...which we need to build a new store...which we need to make money...I hate being poor"

Ami: "Hmm...maybe we can do some Mercenary work?"

"Nah...too many politics"

Ami: "...but hear me out: think about it we could charge people for what we do best"

"Senseless destruction?"

Hurst: "Runn'n up a large tab?"

Ami: "No no we could charge people to kill off sinister Witch Covens, Werethingys, Evil Lichs...the sky's the limit!!"

"Hmm...I have heard a few rumors lately...but I dont know"

Ami: "Just imagine how many people live in fear everynight from a monster they just cant kill"

"I still dont know...it sounds nice and all but its only a matter of time before we run out of Monsters to kill"

Sona: " Your serious?"

"What?"

Ami: "Master One, there are more than enough to go around...why just think of the money to be made in Valenwood alone"

"Your not looking at the big picture: we have no central base of operations, we have no money to finance this operation, and without either I think we'll fail miserably"

Uniqua: "Maybe we can get House backing"

"Huh?"

Uniqua: "Well what if we found a House that would put the money up front...why we could even talk them into building us a Stronghold"

"I think we're getting ahead of ourselves: one we dont know anyone in a Great House that would endorse us...two we really dont have the money to start at all"

Tris laughed at Anya's remark. "I know how to hold my liquor, I'm doing this intentionally."

He smiled at Goranthir. "At least I'm not alone," he said, lowering his voice.

Tris smiled habitually at the best of times. Tris a little drunk smiled almost constantly, in love with the world. Right now he was almost as relaxed as it was possible to be; everything and everyone had a sort of aura which was partly the wine and partly the fact that Ald Raathim really was too humid a place for anyone but an amphibian.

Tris reached for Goranthir's hand. Not the hand of a boy, the hand of a sword fighter, powerful hand, with a rough patch on the inside of the index finger.

Goranthir squeezed Tris's hand. They were now under the shadow of the enormous warship in the Ald Raathim harbor, the ship without a name.

"I want to be honest with you, and one of the gifts that I got in the spheres which hasn't gone away, is trust. Deothur found it in the garbage heaps of Zenithar, apparently no one there had much use for it," the prince smiled, and stopped walking. It took a moment for the words to start making sense, for the pleasant sound of the earnest voice to separate into parts that had meaning, and touch the awake part of his brain.

Tris took a deep breath of air. Suddenly he wasn't warm anymore, and he was frighteningly sober.

There were words he had been saving up for the longest time, that he would never say now... I want to taste your skin, I want to know the expression on your face when you lose it...

He couldn't look at Goranthir's face, and so he looked at their linked hands.

Goranthir grabbed Tris into a hug. "No, I'm sorry, I don't want to make you sad," he said, tears running down his face. "I couldn't tell you before, because things were too horrible, and I didn't want to tell you now, because everything's so great. I just didn't want the world to start again without you knowing how I feel."

"Stop, stop, stop," Tris said. "Now you're crying, stop that."

He was terrifyingly embarrassed, and the embarrassment was threatening to turn into rage, and he didn't want to be angry.

And on another level, he was still a little drunk, and the feel of the young, strong body was very sweet.

"No, I'm sorry. I promised myself I wouldn't do this. It doesn't matter... what you feel about women. Whatever, it's wrong, I had too much power over you and it wasn't fair... I let myself run wild, that's all, and now you're crying, Goran, stop that."

He wiped Goranthir's tears away clumsily. He was crying himself, just from watching Goranthir cry.

Shaka, after seeing Tris and Goranthir leave the Drunken Guar, turned to Anya and said, "I'd better put down the wine for a few minutes. I didn't have the chance to tell them, but I don't have that high a threshold for alcohol either."

"Anya, when you were thinking near the bay . . . . Could I ask what it was of? Your mentor, your sister? I don't have to know, of course."

"So, what, you wouldn't tell me?" Tris said. "And then this scene could have played out another way, another time... I could have made a total fool of myself, instead of only half a fool..."

He found himself laughing. "I swear, Goran, sometimes I scare myself. There's this demon in my head right now whispering that if I asked for one last kiss, I bet you'd give it to me... you should, I don't know, knock my teeth in, to wake me up. I love you so much. I would kiss you, but that wouldn't be enough. And I'd sooner kiss you, than knock your teeth in ... Goranthir didn't want to say anymore, even though the wine was telling him to keep the conversation going. Being only half-drunk, he knew better. He had said what he had to -- to belabor it would be stupid.

"The place for doing stupid things tonight seems to be the tavern," he said instead. "Do you want to go back?"

"You know, I really don't," Tris said. "Not quite yet. Show me your boat."

He was trying to adjust his thinking. He knew he needed a few minutes, that if he walked in with red-rimmed eyes Loranna would be on him for the story like a cat on a mouse.

Well, at least I won't have to explain this one to Ciel... or Barenziah...

"You know now why I was never enthusiastic about you living on a boat," he said. "Spies can't get to you, that's true. But I can't get to you either, and that makes me nervous."

Goranthir smiled. He didn't really want another drink right yet anyhow.

"I didn't know that when I commissioned it," Goranthir said, lowering the plank and stepping on board. "I didn't know anything about the Void then."

It was a work of art, the boat, even if not created by artists. The Nords had poured a lot of their ambition into it. It was more than something created for a wealthy client -- it was something for them to show others and themselves what they could do, besides patch up fishing skiffs.

"I'm sorry, elf." He thought for a moment. "I know almost nothing about the veil between the living and the dead. Maybe we should ask Slyvos someday if it's possible to speak to your sister, though it's probably playing with fire now more than ever."

He took her hand. "I've been thinking myself. . . . I owe Loranna more than I can repay, for housing us over the months. But maybe it's time I put down some roots and bought some land in Ald Raathim."

Shaka didn't look at her for the moment. "If I have a house built in the woods, overlooking the bay . . . Or learn how to help build it, is that something you like the sound of? Or is it too soon to be thinking of the future?"

Tris didn't try to explain the complex tangle of feelings that washed over him at the thought of Goranthir dying. Goranthir had touched the book; he knew about Ciel, and Ciel's death, as much as anyone could know.

"Herwyn's a strange one," Tris said. "He sees the strings, but he accepts them. I think he thinks he knows his place in the story. He is Loyal. He is Elysana's Man. And so he will be that, in service to some higher cause than I can possibly imagine, no matter how wrong-headed it seems from where we stand. He may kill me some day. I can't say I like the thought. Goranthir saw that he was wrong to be flippant about his own death, not only from Tris's eyes when he said it, but also from his own heart when Tris, in turn was joking about his own death at the hands of Helwyn. It caused him to shiver.

"I also saw in the book that my grandmother was going to try to help the situation with Elysana," he said. "I don't know how, but I hope she does. It's terrible to think of one of the Eight becoming an enemy."

Dane Rubyn rode his mount through the yard, and took a shot with his bow at the nearest target. The arrow hit the mark perfectly, and Rubyn restrung another arrow. The past few days had been amazing to him. Although he still wasn't completely clear on what happened, meeting the emporer and having the world being restored had been overwhelming to him. He had noticed the reunion that many of the people had, and though he knew just about none of them, he shared their joy. Rubyn drew his bow once more and took yet another shot at the target across the way. He would stay on duty at the barracs until some need arose, and than he would be ready. Nobody else he knew had the foggiest clue that anything had changed, and for all Rubyn knew, it hadn't changed for them. But he would remeber it forever.

Gram had gotten quite drunk by now, and while drunk and among drunks, he became the most eloquent Nord in the world; thus it was with many high hurrahs and lots of cheers that he organized the official Nord versus Dunmer War of the Booze.

The Nords were enjoying a one person lead in nominal sobriety when Loranna slipped out to go find Slyvos, leaving Gram having to fend for himself against two Dunmer who seemed immune to sujamma's ineberiting effects.

"Well, now I'll show you lads some REAL drinking!" Gram laughed, holding a small keg of mead up over his head ...

At the castle, Loranna looks for Slyvos, laughing and being mildly but not badly drunk.

She takes a deep breath, and mutters " ... Then again, I only saw a little part of his story ...." She gives Slyvos a weak, apologetic smile.

"All right; what, exactly, does this mean when you say he's marked as a lich's own? Does this mark give said lich any control over Goranthir, is it a sign of willing servitude, is it just a mark albiet a rather distasteful one ..."

" ... We saw his true self in the spheres," she says. "He's the King - a noble soul. He's not a slave at heart ... he couldn't have been deceiving us, not once we passed the realm of Zenithar. He's our friend and companion, he stood with us against the unbeatable foe ..."

" ... All right," she says at length. "Let's ... let's talk to Tris about this first. I'm pretty sure Tris touched the Book, and Tris is very close to Goranthir." She ignores her own understatement. "Tris may have seen this mark and its meaning; let's check with him first."

Loranna slaps Slyvos on the back of his head.

"Willing servant - dear we should have given you a bit of that trust to eat too," Loranna chides. "We all saw one another's true forms. If Goran is some lich's servant, it's because he was forced to or else it was done unawares. The Psijics came up to him and crowned him, remember?"

She sighs, and ruffles Slyvos's hair. "You've been studying too hard; you need a break, get your nose out of the book. She starts leading Slyvos back to the party.

Summary for Rymlin, also known as Ash:

Short Version: Rymlin's done for now, he's decided to live in a daedric shrine, and will be there for a long time. Right now he's in the tavern, plans to congratulate the heroes, then he's going to live in his shrine and work on establishing a worship of Vaernima.

Long Version:

Ash had been working at the local clothier, making it into a makeshift enchanting shop up until the dimentional restoration of the Azurites. During the fights, he hid out in an abandoned daedric ruin in the islands south of Sadrith Mora. Here, he underwent quite a change...

Creaking open the stone door, Ash stumbled in. Weary from his persuit, he drank a restore fatigue potion, resting his back against the runed wall. Bring his hand to his shoulder, he felt the sticky, wet spot and pressing a little further, felt the large hole that was in his shoulder. He cast a small healing spell to stop the bleeding until he could construct a suitable enchantment to repair himself. Ash sensed outside the door of the ruin, finding nothing, he took out his dagger and carved a seal of Vaernima into the door. "That should hold them out for some time." Ash placed his dagger back in its sheathe, and began lighting the torches in the hallway.

Ash had been under constant attack by the Azurites since the beginning. It was quite apparent they were not all to fond of other worships, particularly other daedra. Ash fled to one of the last standing shrines of Vaernima, Maervelleshim, hoping to hide until he would be able to establish some sort of resistance. Moving down the hallway, Ash had to cast a spell of light to find his way to the shrine entrance. Pushing open the door, he saw that the torches were already lit, and there stood before him two unwholesome looking orcs, one in a robe, the other in orc-crafted armor.

The armored orc shouted to his partner "Gundgrel! We seem to have a friend! Let's welcome him!" with that, the orc charged Ash with his large barbed axe, and brought it down at Ash's head. Ducking to the side, Ash cast an invisibility spell on himself and moved away from the orc. Clearing about 20 feet, he summoned a storm atronach to battle the fighter while he dispatched the mage. The demon rose from the ground in a flash of lightning, and began throwing bolts of thunder at the rushing orc.

"Foolish Orismer, Malacath's bastards have no right to this place." said Ash, fading back into the shadows. stepping behind the green skinned mystic, Ash covered the orc's face with the cloth from his robe while channeling a drain fatigue spell. Once the orc lost consciousness, Ash moved behind the other and simply repeated the spell to bring the orc to the ground. The atronach moved in for the kill when Ash intervened "Stop! These are defilers of the shrine, they shall be dealth with accordingly. You may take your leave, I thank you for your service." said Ash, moving the orcs to the base of the altar. Instead of the typical statue that was present in most shrines, there stood only a pool of dark water, with a mist rising out of it. Only those who inhaled the mist could closely commune with Vaernima. Placing the two orcs' heads close to the bowl, Ash watched their bodies twitch and writhe as Vaernima issued her own punishment.

Thus began the process of reclaiming the shrine. Durring the course of the Azurite battle, Ash resored what he could of the shrine, and began to bind daedric servants to protect its walls. He also underwent a transformation, adding scars and tattoos to himself, and also blinding himself with fire. He now wears an ebony mask covering all of his head save his mouth, and encrusted with gems. In addition, he is in a constant state of lucid sleep, and therefore never rests. Now he returns to Ald Raathim, under the cloak of illusion to disguise him as his former self.

Walking into the tavern, he places a thousand septims in front of the bar and says to the bartender "A room, and I do not wish to be disturbed." looking around the room, he sits down and watches the festivites.

Falco thought on what Isidor had said, How dare he lecture me on loss! I am away from the home I love , Cyrodill. I had to deal with the loss of my family to slavery. Hell I even had to kill my own mother. Nothing he has ever felt can compare to that pain. Falco punched his pillow in frustration. Then came a revelation. I must put my own past to rest, I will set out to find my father.... tomorrow, and finally set things right. The argonian saton his bed mulling this over.

He was happy. Ald Raathim was a place for from his life of death. He had killed many in his life, but this was a break from his usual activities. HEre, he was known as Cyrus the fisherman. But what he really was, was an assasin, working for the Brotherhood. He enjoyed his work. It was exhilarating. But lately he had over done himself. He had nearly made a fatal mistake on his last writ. Alas, that was a thing of the past, now he could spend a long vacation on Ald Raathim. He also heard that there was a party.

He fell asleep drunkenly at the table.

It had taken two of them - Tris had enlisted Herwyn Brand's help - to get the unconscious prince of Firsthold to his bed. It didn't help that Herwyn was also drunk.

Then there was a time - the memory was already foggy - lying on his back in a field somewhere, talking with Herwyn about the Void, and life, and loyalty, and Doll, and how Tris had joined the cult of Dibella in the first place. Herwyn didn't talk much when drunk, which was fine, because Tris talked enough for two people. He had talked probably TOO much, but it would be all right, if Herwyn remembered as much the next morning as he did. Tris couldn't even remember how they had ended up in the field, although he remembered looking for a place to enter the Void together, to teach Herwyn how to get out and not just in.

Edge walking while drunk... yeah. Maybe he hadn't had the best judgement last night.

Then he had fallen asleep, or maybe passed out. Now Tris was awake, still lying in the long grass, his clothes soaked with dew. A pulse just at the back of his neck was warning him that it would become a vicious pounding if he dared to move his head.

Herwyn was awake too, looking much more solid and less queasy than Tris felt.

"You're one of those morning, people, aren't you?" Tris said.

Herwyn pulled the ring off of his finger and handed it to Tris, watching as he put it on and instantly stood a bit straighter.

"Alas, I suppose I missed my chance.

"Shall we?" he said, gesturing to the castle, "Before people start inventing rumors?"

*

"You're with me, my good man, it's too late to avoid rumors," Tris said, stretching. He felt surprisingly good for someone who had slept wet, on the ground. "Besides, if you start a rumor you only like other men, Doll might be willing to go out with you."

He handed the ring back.

"What happens now? Do you head back to Wayrest? Are we enemies again?"

When asked by the early morning servants what he was doing he simply told them, "preparing for a journey." Most assumed it was part of Loranna's buisness and decided not to ask any more questions of the argonian. Falco headed up to his room where he began writing a note to leave there...

"Morning, beautiful," said Shaka, walking into the dining hall with a plate, but less perkily. "Another sunny Ald Raathim morning . . . Unfortunately," he added, rubbing his temple for a moment.

"My memory of last night's celebration is a little hazy. Please tell me that wasn't me singing and dancing on the castle roof at one point. Or at least, that it was on-key."

He kissed Anya's forehead and sat at the trestle table with a number of the group.

When Isidor awoke, he was in immense pain. The pain from being hungover, the pain in his fist from punching Falco, and the pain in his throat from yelling at Falco. "That [censored] lizard." Was all he said, as he fell out of his bed. His gold was strewn across the floor.

He staggered out of the door, his head throbbing. He made his way down to the dining hall, where he sat down. "No talk. Head pain. Bad."

Goranthir had gotten up early, feeling no pain as he had not had too much to drink the night before ... though he had passed out ... Apparently drinking copious amounts was something he had to work on to truly be a hero.

The figurehead of Kynareth was taken from Diamond's shop to be placed on the bowsprit of his ship, the Akarvina. It was fitting somehow. The beautiful artistry of the top of it, the Goddess's sleek, wind-buffeted hair and fierce expression, one hand pointed out ahead, and the other clutching at her robes, to the unfinished base, as if she were emerging from the wood.

Then the young princeling ranger wandered up to the castle to see who was awake for the christening.

Loranna, less hung over than many (there were times when a background as a barmaid came in handy), reviews the day's business in the comfort of her study.

There was the christening of Goranthir's new boat; she was looking forward to that.

There was the discussion about how to expand the harbor, so that it didn't adversely impact the fishing trade in Ald Raathim. Having developed a taste for fish somewhere over the past few months Loranna was - somewhat - looking forward to that, though she could already imagine the difficulties there.

There was the dispensation of the reward for the Eight, and then afterward the matter of the forts to be built. She was mostly looking forward to that.

There was the wedding to prepare for, and word around the castle was there was another wedding being considered as well - which, with her own desire to marry Slyvos, made for three weddings overall. She was both looking forward to that and dreading the inevitable weight gain from all the food, but she had plans to work out more anyway so she forgave herself in advance for packing on a few pounds.

Let's see, what else ... oh, there was the matter of breakfast. Loranna blushes slightly and leaves the study, hoping people haven't devoured everything so far.

"Thank you, my Lady," he said simply. "I had thought of building it outside the walls of Ald Raathim, but with new fortifications coming up . . . Perhaps we can keep it within the new boundaries."

He didn't mention it to the group yet, but he was in fact considering adding a small tower to the future house. Not as tall as the bluff on which the castle stood, but high enough to look out on the forest canopy.

Were there enough Telvanni left on the mainland to get the seeds for such a tower? Or would that be reserved for a magelord? Shaka had some questions to ask, in the future.

QUOTE(Allerleirauh @ Sep 1 2005, 06:30 PM)

"Girl, you need some lessons in finance,"  Tris said. "A real education, not just Kallen's advice. Building something that brings in money comes BEFORE building things that cost money. The harbor, that's a priority;  the fortifications... well, you set things in motion. The thing is to get the Arena operating as an Arena. You have a Mages' Guild here, you could make a fortune."

He smiled at Shaka and Anya. Certainly an odd couple... but who was he to judge?

*

"The fortifications would protect the money, though, wouldn't they?" said Goranthir.

"Good point ..." she mutters as she looks down at Falco's note.  " ... Wait, you're leaving Falco?"

*

"I won't be gone long Lor... I just have to set things straight in my life."

Falco's face formed into a the slyest grin any of them had ever seen. "Certainly my big drunken friend, I'm ready to go when you are..."

Isidor ignored the first part of Falco's statement, but turned to Loranna. "Is this all right with you, Loranna?"

"Um, why are you challenging Falco to a duel, specifically?" Loranna asks, feeling her heart sink when she sees Falco's grin. "Or should I take a wild guess ..." she asks, her tone resigned.

"Apparently he just enjoys getting his [censored] kicked Loranna. Don't worry I won't leave a very big bloodstain in the dirt when I'm through with him. I'll try keep his bleeding to a minimul."

Shaka nearly rose from his chair. "You pinheads, I thought you had settled things long ago. I've half a mind not to resuscitate you when you drop."

"Because of his arrogance. Because he stole from me. Because he called me a bad father, because I'm not running to Skyrim, this minute. I'm sick of this."

"He stole from ..." Loranna turns narrowed eyes to Falco. "Didn't I say no stealing from my domain while you're working for me, Redflash?"

She closes her eyes and lets out an exasperated breath. "Yes Isidor, it's okay to challenge Falco to an Arena duel; we'll have healers handy like any normal duel and if you're willing I'm tempted to make it a best three out of five match ..."

Goranthir sighed. "This is not how I wanted the morning of my ship's christening to be. But maybe it is best to clear old grievances."

Tris listened with his head cocked.

"Isidor... he's doing what a friend should do, calling you a bad father and telling you to go deal with your past. Going to challenge me to a duel, now?"

Isidor couldn't contain himself any longer. "When the [censored] did you become Mr. Morality? You've stolen from your friends, you'd sell us all to slavers if it meant you could make ONE MORE SEPTIM!" He was yelling now, he couldn't stop.

"And who said I WASN'T going to go back there?! I remember saying that I would, in fact, I asked Loranna for a boat, before the trip beyond the spheres. I fully plan on going back there, but whether I did or not, it's not his problem. No one wants to deal with my past, more then I do, but I don't appreciate being lectured on my life, by someone with no moral compass."

He laughed "It's amazing, I'm sounding like the villian here. I've done nothing wrong!"

Shaka looked weary. "Come on, we shouldn't be acting like this. You're my brothers, both of you."

"Don't spoil the morning of the ship's christening for Goranthir. . . . But I guess your minds are made up."

"I care about my child, damn it! What was I supposed to do? My family had been slaughtered, and I avenged their deaths. I didn't just leave, because I had a child. If I had my way, I'd march back up there, and get married. But, I'd probably be executed."

He smiled. "You'd all like that, huh? No more drunken [censored] of a nord, huh?"
