The Elder Scrolls Forums _ Elder Scrolls Lore _ RP: Playing Houses
Posted by: Loranna Oct 5 2005, 12:35 AM
Hello, and welcome to our Elder Scrolls Role Playing
threads, where we adventure and socialize in the vibrant land of Tamriel.
Before we begin, we'd like to clarify a few things:
Newcomers, we ask you to http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141737&view=findpost&p=2871855
before starting up; everyone will be happier for it
This is an 'open roleplay' and everyone is encouraged to join in at any time!
'Open' roleplay does not mean 'unorganized' or 'limitless', however. The events
in this story are usually planned, and if something BIG happens, you can be
certain that it is the result of much discussion between players, usually in
the mIRC chat (#Loranna_RP, Chatspike server). This is not just a bunch of
disorganized individuals doing what they think would be fun for their character
at the time.
So, while everyone is welcome to join in, they are NOT welcome to jump in and
do big, world-changing things without DISCUSSING IT FIRST. Let me be very clear
about what cannot be done without permission:
1:
Any action that effects another person's character, for ill or good. Although
most people realize they can't harm another person's character without
permission, many don't realize that you can't HELP another character without
permission, either. Many characters have flaws for a reason. Don't go healing,
saving, or otherwise fixing another character without DISCUSSING IT FIRST with
the player involved.
2:
Any event that would drastically change things that have been done to the
world, whether the change is physical (rebuilding destroyed locations),
political (converting a population to a new cause), military (killing off all
the badguys) or anything else. Almost every situation, good or bad, that exists
in the RP was done for some reason. Don't go changing or fixing things without
DISCUSSING IT FIRST with the group.
Everyone who is involved in the RP is welcome in the mIRC chat channel #Loranna_RP,
on the Chatspike server. If you have a plot idea then you are encouraged to go
there and discuss it. If you cannot get on the channel for some reason, or if
the player whos character you would affect with your plan is not there, then PM
them using this board's PM function. That's what it's there for.
If you do not have MIRC, you can http://www.chatspike.net/?p=javairc. Enter in
a nickname where prompted and hit Submit. You'll be asked if you want to trust
the signed applet. Hit Yes, and you'll be in the main chatspike channel. From
there, type /join #Loranna_RP
You'll enter our chat channel and we can talk to you.
Not following the above advice will only result in one thing: your post is
likely to be completely ignored by everyone as if it did not happen. This is
obvously not good for anyone, so please, discuss major events before doing
them.
Remember: Secret plans and surprises are seldom fun for anyone else. Before
they're revealed they're boring, because nobody knows about them, and afterwards
they're just annoying, because nobody knew about them.
Thank you, and have fun!

Summary for Loranna: Loranna is heading to the banquet held in Queen Mother
Brenziah's honor, after having had a full day involving talking with Anya about
what she should do, learning about a Khajiit spy, being asked for Selvia's ring
of domination by Barenziah and discussing the current political situation in
Mrrowind, and just now learning of her fiance's nightmares and his feeling of
being watched by an ancient force ...

OOC: Anya found Falco! As a pirate!
QUOTE(Argonians rule @ Oct 4 2005, 04:30 PM)
Falco turned to Anya. "Will you be leaving also?"
"I still have other matters to attend to, so I must leave. Good...
hunting, Falco."
As Anya passed T'Zar, she bent next to her ear and whispered, "I could
make some angry threat about ways to hurt you, but I'll just give you a
warning, don't do it again." Anya stood up and lef the cabin.
Anya and Telera made their way back to Ald Raathim. Anya seperated from Telera
to go to the castle to change lothes and freshen up. And to report to Loranna
what she found out.

Summary
Barenziah, Queen Mother of Morrowind, is in her room at Castle Daruhn, getting
ready for a banquet in her honor. She has recently survived an assassination
attempt on her life from the Indoril.
Goranthir, her grandson, is going to be late to said banquet, as he's been
canoodling in the bushes with Tris.
Kethiah, assassin, survived her own assassination attempt at Herwyn Brand's
hands, and will be recovering in Castle Daruhn in two days' time (due to
travel time, her tale with Isidor is slightly future set).
And the cooks for the banquet, the recently engaged Razbiah and Thianas ...
QUOTE(syronj @ Oct 4 2005, 06:34 PM)
Shaka smiled back. "Not at all. Someday Ald Raathim's regional cooking will probably be renowned because of you two, if it isn't already."
"That is exceptionally kind of you to say," Razbiah grinned, well
pleased. She gave her fiance a smack on the bottom. "See, I told you it
has to be perfect."
"Now see what you've done, serjo," Thianas laughed.

ooc: Isidor, male nord, is sitting next to Kethiah,
dunmer assassin, after rescuing her from the Dwemer ruins of Vas.
(One note, Isidor and Kethiah are two days ahead of everyone else.)
Tsei, female argonian, is in ... Daggerfall, somewhere.
Tyradil and Tilitalia are getting ready for the banquet.

Tyradil and Tilitalia, wearing fine robes, walked with
each other down to the hall, for the banquet. Both were equally angry with
Isidor, for leaving again, without telling them where he was going, or when
he'd be back. They entered the hall, and looked for seats.
Two Days Later
After watching Kethiah for a few more minutes, Isidor fell into a light sleep,
partly from exhaustion, partly from worry, and partly from relief.

SUMMARY: Joshua Fergusson, Knight Errant of Fort
Hawkmoth, and Shrine Sergeant has been at the Drunken Guar just sitting back
and relaxing. Getting ready to head to the banquet.
Joshua Fergusson had just woken up from a slight sleep to find everyone from
the table gone. He got up, retrieved his helmet and went outside, where people
in fine clothing were heading to the Castle. He immediatly guessed and muttered
at the same time, "Banquet". He went to the inlet and washed off his
armor as best as he could and dried it off. Then he proceeded to go to the
front of the Castle, where the guards most definitly were. If they were not,
then this was poor security. He saw many guards in front of the castle and
there was indication of many more inside. He smiled to himself, Well,
Security is Good. He donned his helm and marched towards the guard who
seemed to be in charge.
He quickly took mental note of the Royal Guard armor. Once he reached where the
Head of the Royal Guards were, he saluted and went inside the castle, still
marching, without thinking. Once he was inside, he looked for the table and
once there found a seat and sat. His stomach was growling louder than a
Khajiit.

OOC Summary
Reichi Sari is presently in his room after having left the tavern and is
getting dressed into something more formal than asuit of netch armor. Which
wearing to the party would make him seem paranoid or crazy. Or both.
----
Reichi striped off his armor, and tossed his weapons onto his bed. He put on a
more formal set of clothing, the darkly colored clothing he had worn during the
wedding in Daggerfall. No sense in spending money on a set of clothing and
using them only once, afterall. He of course, kept his ring on, as it was a
neccessity, and well, it looked cool as well. He also wore the simple leather
collar Mirea had 'given' him long ago. It was more of 'slipped on from the
safety of the void'.
He hesistated a bit, but managed to keep from reaching out and taking the
Dagger of Senses with him. Loranna didn't have dispell lanterns in her castle
like the King and Queen of Daggerfall did. If something went wrong he could
recall to his weapons. Reichi took one glance in a mirror before leaving his
room, his hair was still disheveled and wild, though, it wasn't dirty.
Reichi headed down to the banquet.

ooc summaries:
Allerleirauh is at the castle, ready for the banquet, and vaguely starting to
wonder if she should pop in the Void and look for Goranthir. She was ready
hours ago; she's almost always early.
Tris is... well, you heard the man.
Dragon won't be at the banquet. He's keeping an eye on things.
Doll is still on a cruise, Mirea is still with the circus, and Jelsia is still
a priestess of Dibella.

Falco sat in his cabin, a glass of wine in hand. He
sipped it as T'Zar finished her report. "Excellent work. But I'm afraid
I'm still a little disappointed that you were caught. Could you have been more
conspicous? Oh well whats done can't be undone...." T'Zar left the cabin
and headed down below deck to the first mate's private quarters.
Erlycn then entered the cabin, having waited outside the entire time. He handed
Falco a certain pamphlet. "Picked this up on the way to the guild guide.
Very interesting reading." The argonian read it.
"Very interesting indeed."

The guests a mixture of Dunmer and nords...with an argonian thrown into the
mix. Eats-With-Claws had been surprised that even the Nordic people seemed to
be invited (unlikely at most Dunmer occasions) and had joined the Dunmer and
Nords after changing into a pair of moderately nice clothes. Of course they couldn't
compare with the very extravagant ones some of the rich people. But they were
all he could afford at the moment.

Barenziah escorted by Ulymir arrived, deep in
conversation which they broke out of as soon as they were within earshot of any
of the guests. He had simply cleaned and polished up his captain's uniform of
the Royal Guard. She was wearing a gown of deep almost black green with a
matching cape, and a very tight, very deep bodice.
If the dress gave her any discomfort, the Queen Mother did not show it as she
greeted the other guests.

Maranda has returned to the Imperial City after a lovely chat in Ald Raatham
with both allie and Anya. She skipped the planning, for she has stuff to do in
the Imperial City. Moreso, she has to chat to Jelsia about her conversations in
the Imperial City. Maranda walked into Jelsia's room to find it empty. She
sighed, putting her bag on the floor and lay back on her bed to wait for her
return

Tris made sure to arrive separately from Goranthir. He
felt that he wasn't fooling anyone, however. He only barely cared. His color
was high, he was still just the tiniest bit drunk, and oh, so intoxicated. At
just such a banquet at Ald Raathim he had met Barenziah for the first time and
defended her honor in conversation. At breakfast the next day, he had met
Goranthir. He felt himself, for the moment, supremely happy.
Allerleirauh raised an eyebrow, just slightly. She was wearing silver tonight,
a dress that flowed around her ankles like water.

Goranthir had dressed hurriedly, but giving himself a
quick look in the mirror before he ran to the banquet, he decided that he
looked presentable enough. It was the plum-colored surcoat and short cape he
had worn to the wedding.
He saw his grandmother first, and bowed to her.
Barenziah smiled, "A nice suit," she said, before removing a leaf
from his hair. "You don't need any accessories."
Goranthir blushed, and moved on to join the party.

A noticable change, she no longer bothered to hide her shoulder, finally
percieving it as a futile effort. The dress helped to mute the white coloration

Her face was calm, intent on enjoying the evening, as she went to take her

had nothing to fear - unless he abandoned her, or abandoned Gor...
"The night air here is perfect for exercise, your majesty," he
said. "Perhaps sometime I could show you."
Barenziah laughed. "Sadly, you would find me hopeless to tutor, my lord.
Moonlight makes me weak."
Her eyes went to her table, and the two Nord children sitting there. "Now
I should meet my dining companions."

Allerleirauh
was pressing her lips together, trying to supress some sort of emotion. She
looked at Goranthir, then leaned in to kiss his cheek.
"No use in trying to built a dam out of paper, the water always finds a
way," she said at last. "Really, you look like the cat who ate
the pet chickadee."
He took her hand.
"That is exactly what I am," he said seriously. Goranthir knew she
could tear him apart even if she did not lay a hand on him. And if she did, he
could not blame her. "Tris. I seduced him."

"I
only want to get paint on you on purpose," Jelsia said, laughing.
"Do you like it so far?"
Her painting was in the formal style which sold well in the Imperial Province,
of a single lily, struck by the sun, which lifted it out of the group of
flowers surrounding it.
"It's for you... so, Allerleirauh wasn't angry? I expected her to be
upset."
'Its a lovely painting, just like you' Maranda replied, 'Allie was not upset
whatsoever, she seemed happier. I am not sure about Tris though. Oh, I and I
met this girl called Anya, thought she would make a good priestess... she might
come visit, she needs to straighten some things out with her love life,' she
kissed Jelsia, with alot more passion than she had kissed anyone else that day,
'Once you've finished that come over to your room and I'll give you a better
kiss' she smiled

Firsthold at a banquet, even if he was sixteen years old and very silly.
"And how did he take your despoiling of his innocence?" she said,
with a mostly straight face. She made a stifled sound, then decided that
Goranthir's dignity was probably suffering, so she had better control herself.
"Your highness," she said, in a normal tone, for the benefit of those
near enough to think they were having an ordinary conversation, then lowered
her voice. "I thought he seduced you before you ever met me; then I saw

Jelsia was not the impetuous sort. Love was wonderful, but paintbrushes were

washing her brushes out.
"I'm finished, I just need to clean everything up. So you really like it?

Kratos stared at him in disbelief and shock. "They wouldn't have told me anything, they cast me out during the Blue Dawn." He lowered his gaze to the ground.
"Then they are fools," Ulymir removed his helm, and Kratos recognized
him. He had been a knight of the late king, Helseth's uncle Athyn Llethan, and
together they had fought more than a few battles. "I will vouch for you,
if you give me your word than you mean no harm to her majesty."

Tilitalia and Tyradil told Barenziah everything. More then they had thought they would. She listened well, when they talked. When they had finished talking, Tyradil said quietly "You are very beautiful, your majesty." He blushed after he said this, and Tilitalia giggled.
Kallen, passing by, quietly making sure everything was perfect almost, almost
stopped and smiled at this. It was what he told Tyradil and Tilitalia to say,
but he hardly expected them to do it, let alone mean it.
One look at Barenziah and it was clearly she didn't feel like an old woman
anymore.
"My darling boy," she laughed, kissing his forehead. "You've
made my night."

Anya
walked in, wearing her tan slim dress. She was finally getting used to it's
light weight and naked feeling. She will always prefer her armor though. And of
course, she kept a few small daggers strapped to her thighs.
A noticable change, she no longer bothered to hide her shoulder, finally
percieving it as a futile effort. The dress helped to mute the white coloration
of the three ropy scars, her momento from Blue Dawn.
Her face was calm, intent on enjoying the evening, as she went to take her
place at the table.
Seated across the way, Shaka raised a hand in greeting to the rogue but didn't
attempt to get up. He had the feeling Anya had a lot on her mind, and would for
some time to come.

When everyone was more or less seated, Kallen made a
silent signal and the first course was brought out. Delicate meat pastries of
delicious but still subtle spices, obviously of Razbiah's design, but any who
had tasted Thianas's pastry recognized the buttery crispness of them, married
together. The Bosmer were offered the same dish, but wrapped in a thin, almost
sheer strip of unsalted bacon, so it was not at all greasy but still held the
delicate filling.

Anya smiled curteously and waved back, though made no move to talk with him.
She was in no mood to start wrestling with her feelings. I'll talk with him
when I decide what to do.
Anya watched the proceedings. She giggled when Isidor's children talked with
the Queen Mother. She found them strong willed, yet still innocent. She looked
around till she saw a bright glint, My, Kratos' is certianly bright. I
wonder why the Royal Gaurd wanted? Ah well.
She took a bite off a small sweetroll she had pilfered from the kitchens, she
had become addicted to them after first trying them here. She didn't move to
engage anyone, but contented herself with watching everyone else, remaining
largely unoticed at the moment.

Stalker made his way through Ald Raathim to the banquet.
He left the clothes Loranna sent him on his bed at home. Stalker was unused to

uniform from the Blue Dawn and went over it inch by inch, carefully mending any
tears so that it would pass muster were he to be back in the ranks of the

and rechecked his appearance once more, carefully adjusting his rank badges.
Stalker now stands beside the banquet hall looking out over the tables set on

Telera was feeling more self-conscious about her transformation now than she
had since it first effected her. There were many more people around at the
feast than there had been at any other time since she had transformed. She kept
feeling like everyone was staring at her, this wasn’t helped by her choice of
clothing a deep blue dress that clung to her curves. Upon seeing Barenziah she
decided rationally that this was not the case, she still felt overly exposed
though.
Food Time
Sitting across and a little bit down the table from Loranna and Tris, she
thought about how best to broach the topic of her transformation with Loranna.
She delayed doing this while she savored the taste of the exquisite pastries.
After mentally kicking herself for delaying, she spoke up, blurting out the
first thing that came to mind after eating the the first course, “The first
course is wonderful. Lady Loranna?”

As Kallen saw the pastries being consumed, he signaled
for the second course. A parade of servants circled the tables, offering each
guest soles of a white freshwater fish (a great rarity in the dry lands of
Morrowind); broth with bacon; steamed and roasted roots and herbs; meat
"tiles" (pieces of chicken or veal, simmered, sautéed, served in a
spiced sauce of pounded crayfish tails, almonds and toasted bread and garnished
with whole crayfish tails), capon pasties and crisps, and a roast of wild guar
which was indescribably succulent.
The whispers went around that they should keep room for dessert.

Loranna says "Ah, I see ...," as she thinks back to the Dawn, and
pictures Stalker being involved in the whole of it. Had Jazbet ever seen that
his long-lost brother was involved in those trying times? ... No; Jazbet had
been Lord of Ald Raathim for years before the Dawn, and he had never mentioned
any inklings of having a brother to her.
Then again, who could say? Perhaps he did see, right before Azura stepped in
and claimed his soul ... in any event, he surely saw them now; she knew
Jazbet's spirit was always close, as he had promised.
My love, I hope you are happy with what you see from your side, Loranna
says silently. Your brother is a dear, just like you are.
To Teleran, Loranna says " ... Tell you what; let me take that potion off
your hands later. I'll test it, see what it is." Under her breath she

STalker eats quietly, listening to the drone of
conversation around him, his eyes warily scanning the crowd. He is
uncomfortable, yet strangely exhilarated to be here. However, he cannot help
but think of what a great target this would be for assassins. A chance to pick
off so many important people. A nervous shudder passes through his body at the
thought.
He raises his glass in toast as the others do.

"To normalcy," Loranna says, raising her own glass, giving Teleran a

After drinking her wine, she says "Your Majesty, a word of advice if I may

Kallen, wandering the open area, observed that people
were finishing the second courses. He gave a signal which brought out servers
to clear the plates, and told the orchestra to strike up a new tune. It was a
soft, aching melody, a reinterpretation of a song seldom played in Ald Raathim,
but at one time the anthem of the House Raathim. He was proud of himself,
though he would never say so, for having discovered the sheet in the library,
for it simultaneous honored Ald Raathim and the Queen Mother's family, the
Raathim.
It also alerted Thianas to get the dessert ready.

"That seems sensible," replied Barenziah, half-distracted by the

Tris returned the smile. Despite the wine, he didn't feel drunk, merely
uplifted. It was very nice wine, for Morrowind.
Allerleirauh had been quiet, though not silent, throughout the meal. She was

Loranna lets Barenziah's explanation pass; in truth she didn't think Stalker
had been joking, but neither did she think Stalker understood the view most
people took of the Daedra. He was a man of the wilds, he had been forced to
rely on the hunt to survive, and whatever tutalage he had had in the gods would
have been cut off when he was very young - so she didn't press it.
"Her Majesty is right," Loranna says simply, thinking of Jazbet even

Tris didn't think Stalker had been joking either, although he thought Barenziah
was a marvelous creature for pretending he had been.
It occurred to him that he still had a very expensive Hircine costume - the
possibilities were boundless. It was almost a pity he hadn't stayed in touch

Goranthir would have to be educated in the wicked things that could be done at

Gnisis
The council was taking a break after an all-night session. Drakar was looking
forward to some rest but word had reached him that Ver'dan was causing a bit of
a stir in Blacklight. It was a short trip with an easy solution. Ver'dan was
demoted to lieutenant. Nothing realy changed Ver'dan was still in command of
the 'Freebooter' but 'he' was no longer 'Captain'. Ver'dan was quite
pleased, it had worked out exactly how he wanted it to. Drakar was too tired to
be angry, too tired to show much of anything, inside he did have a small smile
though.
Drakar returned to Gnisis to get what little sleep he could before the next
meeting. They still had a way to go on putting together an accptable
counter-proposal.

In due course, the inhabitants of Ald Raathim gleefully
tore down the castle, bite by bite, till nothing was left standing save a few
crumbs cleared out by the enchanted figurines. With the pleasant music of the
orchestra in the background, one could easily forget that the Queen's visit
started off by her boats limping into Ald Raathim after a viscous attack.
Eventually, people retired for the night, their stomachs full of cake; the next
day would prove to be cold for Morrowind's fall season, but bright and clear,
the sort of weather some people found invigorating. Decent weather for sailing,
at least.

background, one could easily forget that the Queen's visit started off by her
boats limping into Ald Raathim after a viscous attack.
Eventually, people retired for the night, their stomachs full of cake; the next
day would prove to be cold for Morrowind's fall season, but bright and clear,
the sort of weather some people found invigorating. Decent weather for
sailing, at least.
The Queen Mother's barge -- a new one -- and two escort ships had arrived at
the harbor of Ald Raathim to bring Barenziah back to Mournhold. She slept late,
in the arms of her lover Tris.
Her grandson Goranthir went to Allerleirauh's bed that night.
Kallen saw to the cleaning up, removing the silken tarps that had surrounded
the cliffside, so the work could continue.

Meanwhile, the docks of Winterhold
The horrible blizard had finally let up, although its severity had prevented
any from sleeping that night.
Now that it had stopped Falco wasted no time 'motivating' his very tired very
cold crew to begin repairs before another storm hit them. As he strode among
his crew, supervising them he began thinking to himself. Note to self:
Skyrim is cold. Never come here again. Note ended. Now, time to send T'Zar back
to work as my informant, hopefully she won't be caught this time, and will
stick to the duties assigned her. If not then she is useless to me and an
execution is in order.

Thianas is certain to make sure they see the figure of their father as they are selecting what slices of the cake they want.
Tyradil watches happily as the mini-Isidor cuts off a piece of the bedroom for
them, but Tilitalia simply glowers at the figurine and mutters "Some
father ..."

Summary:
Thom is currently resting at his camp. He never was one for formal dinners with
eerily important political figures, so he decided to have a quiet dinner at his
camp. The next morning, he continued to relax at his camp. He thought about
going into town, but rejected that. If they need me, they know where I am.

When Reichi awoke after the banquet he sighed contentedly. "Nothing like a
good rest after a good meal," he muttered and sat up in his bed. He slid
out of bed and dressed in some common clothing, putting his Netch leather on
over that. He placed two of his weapons in his belt, the Daedric Shortsword
'Bloodfang', the Dagger Of Senses, and placed the dagger Kratos had given him
in a sheath hidden in the netch leather boot. Just in case. His collar and ring
remained on him from last night.
Dressed, Reichi headed out of his room, into the courtyard, saying something
rather rude when he felt how much cooler it was than it normally was.

The Council has resumed. The first topic is on the 'Rogue' Telvanni living in
Redoran territory. It is readily agreed that they will have to join with the
Redorans or leave. Drakar agrees to talk to Baladas Demnevanni, a long time resident
of Gnisis. Since Drakar rather likes the Telvanni he hopes that it does not
have to be a unpleasant encouter. Baladas would be a valuable friend and ally.
After clearing up regular business the debate and discusions continue on the
allience counter-proposal. They are not too long into the meeting when Benar
arrives asking for Drakar. Benar is addmited into the council chambers and the
council demands to know why they are being interupted. Drakar informs the
council that Benar is acting on his orders. After reading through the report
Drakar indicates that information has been uncovered that confirms his
suspicians and goes on to expalin just exactly what has been found. It is
related to the disapearance of the Emissary they had sent to the Indoril and

After the feast had concluded, Tyradil and Tilitalia had returned to their

was very interesting, wasn't she?" Tilitalia asked, as they got ready for
bed. "She was." Tyradil agreed. "You know," Tilitalia said,
grinning "you looked like a comberry, after she kissed you." Tyradil
blushed again and said "Well, she's the Queen and all ..."
His voice trailed off, and he switched to another subject. "So, what are
we going to do about Isidor? Er, dad."
Tilitalia stopped grinning, and her face turned sour. "I don't know, Ty.
He's not acting like a father, that's for sure. He's acting like he's our age,
running off to play whenever he wants, shirking his responsiblity. I guess we
have to talk to him again."
"Indeed." Tyradil said, but by the time he said it, Tilitalia had
fallen asleep.

Both Drakar and Benar explained to the council about their suspicions and the
coralation of the disapearance's and the attack on the Queen Mother. Since
Benar was right about an impending attack the council took this seriously.
Someone wanted the attack to take place and did not want any possible
interferance and this was not likely to be the Indoril or their Hlaalu allies.
All indications were that there was another 'outside' force involved, but the what
or who was still a mystery.
Drakar was ordered to proceed with an ivestigation immeadiatly. Drakar made no
mention that he thought the King of Worms might be involved somehow, and why he
would think that..... but somehow that thought just did not seem right, even
though that would explain a few things.
Benar returned to Khuul and continued his analyses. Drakar had other business
to do before he left. He was going to visit with Baladas Demnevanni first. He
was not the least bit surprised when Baladas opened the door to invite him in
before he even had a chance to Knock.

Jelsia ran a hand down Maranda's thigh. "A butterfly, I think. The
iridescent pigment will look good on you, you have such smooth skin."
She went to work, applying blacks and violets, sheer bright greens and garnet
reds, patterned, subtly shading from one to the other, transforming in the

The food and drink were wretched. Edible and drinkable, but only barely.
"An alliance with the Telvanni is like an alliance with the sun," he

"I had counted on the Telvanni to not even get involved at all. I'm quite
sure they would not have, but Barenziah was involved and now the Telvanni
Council has declared itself in support of King Helseth. This has placed House
Redoran in a difficult position. We are now faced with having to make an
allience ourselves. If we don't it was made clear to us that we are a liablity."
Drakar sighs
"Despite what Barenziah thinks I believe that many Telvanni still just

The tavern was on the upper floor of an ancient villa, filled with patricians
of the city who looked at the women with polite indifference. It was only the
middle-class Cyrodils who stared, including a rather plain tavernmaid who
started to approach their table, and then scampered away, giggling.
A far more worldy Altmer, who tutted at the girl, came to the table. "My

fighter anyway.
She could scream, however, very loudly, and she did so, calling for the guards
as she ran for the door.
'well it looks like I wont have to worry about Jelsia anymore,' she backed away
to the door

Jelsia was a light-weight, small woman, with delicate bones. She didn't have it
in her to rush two burly cooks. But she could scream, and she screamed so
hysterically that it made her a somewhat alarming target.
It occurred to her that the door to the street was a thick one, but the windows
were just glass. She picked up a heavy silver candleholder from a table and
threw it through a window, then screamed again, with all her strength.

"Right now it's translating this ancient Chimer text," Baladas grimaced. "The worst thing is that misspellings and atrocious grammar existed even in ancient days, and the author was a soldier following Veloth, not an academic, so ... Wait, do you mean what is my concern about politics? I think I made it clear in that far too overextended metaphor about the puzzlebox: I haven't any. I have seen the prize, and it doesn't interest me. There is nothing so tedious as the present day ..."
"I wasn't talking about politics, I was talking about the people who are
affected by politics.... but you answered my question well enough."
"If I have any say, you are welcome to stay here in peace come what may.
If I do not have any say you are welcome to stay with me and continue your
translations and studies, I would be interested in learning and helping in your
work, but I'm afraid I may not have much spare time for a while."
"I thank you for your time and the chat, I hope I can visit again or
perhaps you I, but right now I have yet another puzzle to solve, and this
puzzle very much does contain something.... The something is the Puzzle."
"I just wanted you to know if it turns bad you could be a target living in
the middle of a prime target. Not a good place to be."
"I wish you well and good luck in your translation."

The first guard came down with the injured, stockier cook. A healing spell had
